What a pleasant surprise! We found this little Xi'an restaurant while shopping and ended up having one of the most satisfying meals we've had in a while. The lamb skewers were juicy and perfectly seasoned with cumin, and the grilled beef tendon skewers had an amazing crispy, chewy texture. The soup dumplings were full of flavorful broth, and the braised beef knife-cut noodles were chewy with large, tender chunks of beef. We also tried the beef paomo for the first time--it was warm, comforting, and packed with rich flavor. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and after chatting with the staff we learned the owner is from Xi'an, which explains how authentic everything tasted. We had really high hopes for this restaurant after seeing the variety on the menu. Came here for dinner one night and it seemed like the staff could care less about taking our order and redirected us to the kisok. The menu is only on the kiosk or on their website so look ahead. The restaurant was practically empty when we arrived so we didn't mind since we had kids. However, there were wet signs on the floor and buckets everywhere to catch a leak. It was very chaotic. We ordered the crispy beef and pho inspired beef noodles. The crispy beef was thinly sliced and fried before getting tossed in their citrus glazed sauce. It got too sweet after a few bites. The "pho" was okay, it had lots of meat but the broth was something I couldn't put my finger on. The noodles were "unlimited". Well, this place went downhill really quick compared to when it first opened. First off, their "highly recommended" crispy beef is now basically just fried batter with beef flavoring. There was literally no meat in any of it. Cutting corners and cheaping out seems to be their new strategy. Their fountain drink machine was also partially out of order, so the drink options were limited. Then, right next to the fountain drinks, there was a nice puddle of water from the ceiling leaking. They had a bucket there, but water was still all over the floor and clearly wasn't being properly attended to. Seems like a pretty obvious liability waiting to happen. Honestly Im not sure how they were able to get such high rating and don't know if it's real at all. But what I know is we came here for the first time dining in for lunch, the place was pretty open with not many people inside. We ordered the dry tossed knife cut pork noodles with eggs, crispy beef and honey walnut shrimp. The noodles came out, the picture on the ordering menu shows egg, the Chinese description said with eggs, there was no eggs in our noodle? But since it's basically self service there was no server around so we figured just eat it. Oh my god, it's sooooo salty, the pork is poorly marinated with way too much salt, I had to eat a lot of noodle and some white rice to chuck it down. Then the crispy beef which a lot of people recommended, it was way overly fried, completely battered and barely any beef in there. This is worse than the noodles. We basically left the whole entire plate untouched, and not sure what we could do taking it home coz it's so bad. The only thing remotely ok is honey walnut shrimp, but given the poor quality of food, I would never be back again and do not recommend this place to anyone in Irvine. read more

We have eaten at EverSpring many times ever since they opened and my family loved it because it tasted like authentic cantonese dishes. It had been a couple of months since we were last there and my parents and my daughter had been asking to go back and were really looking forward to eating there. However, we were so disappointed when we went back 2 weeks ago! The menu changed a bit, which was fine, and all our usual dishes were still there. We did notice that the cooks have changed and the original Cantonese chef was not there. I think the kitchen staff really changed how the flavors of the dishes for the worst. My 7yo daughter used to love their shrimp fried rice, but as soon as the fried rice came out, the first thing she said was "how come it looks so different from before." Not only did it look different, it was BURNT. It was like they fried the rice in a burnt wok so every grain of rice was coated in tiny black burnt bits. It was essentially inedible. They also just topped the rice with some tastless blanched shrimp instead of actually stir frying the shrimp into the rice. The green onion pancake used to be flakey with layers and expectedly oily for this dish, but the pancake we got this time was essentially a tasteless tortilla. It literally looked and tasted like a tortilla. No layers, flakes or oil at all and was the worst green onion pancake I've ever had anywhere. The fish with black bean sauce was acceptable, but it was definitely not the same. It tasted more like American Chinese flavors instead of the previous authentic Cantonese flavors. The only dish that I thought was still good was the stir fried eggplants, although my parents said it also tasted more Americanized. We are so sad that the food here has changed so much and it was one of the rare places my Cantonese dad actually said tasted authentically Cantonese in the area. The restaurant was full during our latest vist but we did notice that 90% of the diners and people ordering take-out were non-Asians. When we came previously, there was a good mix of Asian and non-Asian diners, so it seems like the clientele have shifted, which might explain the flavor changes or vice versa. The staff is still very nice and friendly, but it seems like the robot server has been laid off. I don't think we will be coming back again unfortunately as the food is no longer what we loved before. However, they seemed to still be doing well so others must still like it. read more

We ordered the House Specialty Xi An Beef & Lamb Bread Soup, Beef Noodle Soup with Chunky Beef, Lamb Skewers, and Egg Fried Rice. Everything came in huge portions, especially the noodle dishes. The best Chinese restaurant in Tustin by far! The prices are very fair and the food is very good! We have ordered a lot from the menu over the past visits and have been happy with all the dishes. We usually order the signature crispy beef dish, chicken chow mein, honey walnut shrimp, and we go back and fourthe between the sweet n sour chicken and the orange chicken. We usually call our order ahead of time and it is always ready in the time that they quote us. The food is so freshly made it still tastes very fresh even when we take it to go and eat it at home. I've been curious about this place for a while since the pictures and reviews seemed good but was apprehensive about the prices for the quantity and quality of food. I finally tried it because I had a coupon for a free veggie spring roll appetizer with a purchase of $20 or more. The fast casual ambiance was very contemporary, and you can tell they lean into this with their self order kiosks and robot delivery. But to use the coupon, I ended up ordering with the cashier, which was nice to ask questions about the portion size. The rest of the experience was unfortunately downhill. They forgot to give us a number, so the robot delivered our free spring rolls to the wrong table, which the other customers did not report. It took a while for the workers to notice and eventually send a new order our way. Having the time to observe this for a while, it generally seemed like the robot has more of a gimmick than a tool to increase their efficiency. Food-wise, we were also not impressed. While the flavor was acceptable, the texture of the orange chicken was pretty abysmal. A large proportion of the dish was just the batter, so despite the outer appearance, the slim niblets of dry chicken breast were overpowered by the stale and extremely tough exterior. Moreover, the portion size was not as large as we were led to believe, especially given the price. The steamed white rice that it came with was also extremely dry and looked like it might have been old. (0/5) The veggie spring rolls were underwhelming and rather starchy, especially because the filling was on the sparse side. This was a let down because the photos of the shrimp egg roll looked much more promising, but maybe I ordered wrong. (2/5) But! The pork soup dumplings saved the meal. Came out fresh enough to burn our mouths, with a welcoming curl of steam when you open the basket. Surprisingly, they were not in individual tins and actually looked plump and supple, with a delicate wrap that held its own and wasn't sweet (a personal preference over more fragrant dough). Filling flavor is nothing to write home about, your standard morsel of slightly tough salty pork, but the quality of this XLB was leagues above the rest of the meal. Sort of on the pricey side, but worth a try if you're here already. (4/5) Overall, it was a rocky experience, and maybe the highs and lows eclipsed each other. DoorDash was great delivering in a timely manner. The entree flavors were good overall, the orange spicy chicken had a nice citrus kick, and the mixed vegetables with tofu were really tasty. The noodles had a variety of shrimp, chicken and beef great flavor too. The beef and broccoli was good but the beef was a little tough, and the wor wonton soup was decent but I would have loved more vegetables and shrimp. Now the beef is cut so thin/tiny that you can't even see it when you bite into it. You get more of the crispy breading. The flavor is still good but really, "where's the beef?!" I had never received Chinese food bad to this level. Unfortunately, had to throw it all away. I'm sure whoever was working the kitchen was aware of this problem and just decided to make our food with the worst chicken sitting four hours towards the end of their shift and not make new chicken for our order. Robots deliver to your table which was a fun touch, but the folks who work there do check in on you. The egg drop soup, cucumbers and sesame chicken were what you'd expect. The spring rolls were crispy. Most of the soup dumplings broke while still in the steamer. The meat inside had decent flavor but was a little rubbery. I'm always up for trying new Chinese food places that have good food but fast service. I'm happy to have found that in EverSpring. It's located in the shopping center The Market Place so there is plenty of parking. You can either order with the cashier up front or use the giant touch screens in the front. However, if you want to take advantage of the buy one get 50% off daily special, you'll need to order with the cashier. We ended up ordering the sweet chili eggplant to get the Mongolian beef for 50% off. So it was only $24 for two dishes (tip and tax extra). Where are you going to find a good lunch for that price these days? The food came out quickly and portion sizes were good. Rice comes with the dish unlike at other restaurants. The eggplant was sweet and savory with a slight hint of spice. The beef also had pretty good flavor and lots of green onions which I like. There is a self service area for you to grab utensils and extra plates if needed. The restaurant was very clean, same with the restrooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room for improvement. I wanted to try this place, since I was in the area. I'm a huge fan of Asian Cuisine. First off, entering this place you can tell they are trying to go the modern route, large kiosks to walk up and place your order, and I saw a robot server delivering food. It reminded me of McDonalds when they first tried going the route of using Kiosks because the y wanted to hire less staff. The ambiance of clean and well spaced; I'm assuming it's because they need a clear path for the robot server to deliver to tables. I was with my niece and nephew. We order d three Entrée and a kids meal. I was surprised when I saw the total was over $80 for lunch. I guess they have to recoup the costs of that robot ;) I had the Kung Pao Chicken. It was good, the chicken was well cooked, the sauce was flavorful, and the veggies and peanuts tasted good as well. It only comes with a cup of white rice. For the price, I would think it should cost less. The service was ok. Modern Chinese, Ancient Disappointment EverSpring looks great, sounds great, and is priced like it plans to deliver something memorable. Unfortunately, what I'll remember most is how quickly my excitement turned into polite disappointment. The salt and pepper pork chops were...bold. And by bold I mean shockingly salty, like the chef was trying to preserve them for winter. I've had salt and pepper chops more times than I can count, and this version tasted nothing like any of them. Overcooked, oddly flavored, and just completely off. If this was a creative interpretation, creativity may have gone a step too far. Then there was the crispy beef. I say this with sincerity: it was inedible. Not "I'm picky" inedible--burned-breading-that-tastes-like-toasted-mistakes inedible. Each bite delivered a charming note of scorched regret, like someone deep-fried a crouton and called it a day. I stopped eating not because I was full, but because my taste buds filed an HR complaint. And look, if this were cheap comfort food, I'd shrug it off. Wow! This place is great! It's a modern concept: you order and pay at the counter and take a number to your table. Get your drinks and condiments on your own. By the way, the water includes water with lemon and water with cucumber! And pretty soon a robot arrives with your food. Don't take too long taking your food but the robot runs out of patience and leaves!!! We ordered broccoli beef, shrimp lo mein, and vegetables with tofu. It was all very good. Maybe not gourmet, but way better than you might expect from what looks like a fast food place. Prices were all very reasonable. This place is definitely on our list. I knew it was too good to be true. When I first discovered the place with 50% lunch specials with full entrees that were delicious and very filling, better than anything else out there, I thought I had struck gold, and clearly I did. I only came a few times, but not even a week or two after, I see that they have removed the deal and it only applies if you order another full price appetizer or entree, which, considering it's a lunch special deal, makes it pretty unfriendly for the exact profile of diner I am, which is usually a single diner and it really is disappointing to feel like I've been singled out as the type of customer that's not wanted, even if I doubt me coming a couple of times was what led to this promotion being stealthily changed though I couldn't count it out. It's kind of disappointing to discover this after going out of my way to try to come here for lunch and suddenly have to change plans with a limited schedule, so I don't see myself coming back here for a long time even though the food is excellent. I've been meaning to try this spot and finally decided to try it for lunch. It was reasonably priced at $17 for the bento box; I was also able to add appetizers at 15% off. For my bento box, i ordered the crispy beef (spicy, crunchy, and chewy!), cucumber salad, and white rice. I also ordered the spicy pork wontons and custard sesamy balls. I will say, the sesame balls were not my favorite, they were an odd experience, the feelings was gooy and not in a good way. Everything else was delicious! The space was super clean! And I liked that they had to-go boxes and bags at the self serve soda fountain, along with all the utensils and side sauces. The space felt huge, but I was the only person dining so it might be fuller on regular days. I was impressed that although you can use the kiosk to order your food, the staff still checked in on you to make sure your food an experience was satisfactory. Enjoy the great music, clean environment and when your food is delivered by the cute robot, enjoy the wonderful flavors bursting in your mouth .
