Not just once but all three times I was lucky to get 6-8 pieces of chicken (small pieces) Noticeably different, about half the chicken you get at any of the other locations. I've been to a lot of flame broilers and this is probably the worst that I've been to. The cashier is always super unfriendly. No "hi how are you" or "thank you enjoy your meal". Just zero dialogue, which unfortunately I've also noticed at other fast restaurants in Irvine. I've encountered two different cashiers and they have both been like this. The interior of the establishment is also fairly uninviting. Although I suppose I'm not there to hang out. There were a few fruit flies at the sauce area and hovering around the sauce nozzles. For the record, I give this place a solid 2.5 stars. I normally don't give 2.5 stars even for fast food establishments but this really did not meet my expectations. I went in expecting a nice hefty bowl of rice and chicken but came out with a portion size I was not satisfied with. For 10 dollars, I would expect a lot more. Also, the chicken here was relatively dry and didn't have much fatty parts (could be a good thing and bad thing, depends how you look at it). Also wish there were more vegetables. A 1:1 ratio of rice to vegetables with the chicken they provide would honestly keep me satisfied and happy. Food is great. The bald headed old guy is super nice BUT VERONICA is not very welcoming. SHE ALWAYS HAS AN ATTITUDE EVERY TIME. My coworker and I places two separate orders and I told the old guy twice to charge them separate. When I arrived they had the order prepared but as one. I told them I wanted them separate and the old guy acknowledged his mistake but Veronica was the one charging me so she had to go out of her way to charge it differently on the POS. She then started making smart mean remarks that I messed up the order and I need to place the order correctly. That's when I had it. I told her I did place it correctly and I don't mind paying for the both meals but her ATTITUDE is not necessary. She then turns her back and starts talking to the cooks so I told her I speak Spanish and we started arguing in Spanish. The flame broiler's advertising makes it seem like it's all about healthy food that tastes good, but I'm not convinced. The portion of chicken was pretty small. I do normally have a pretty big appetite, but I'd still definitely consider this portion small. The chicken was dry, but there wasn't any fatty meat or skin. So I guess not super great tasting meat but healthier than most other fast food places. The teriyaki sauce was good, but it was a bit overdone and got a lot of the rice underneath soaked in sauce. I'm not sure how healthy it is to be drenching rice in teriyaki sauce. There were no vegetables included in the bowl even though there are veggies in the picture provided for online ordering. This place is a joke!!!! Clearly the manager has no clue that you can place orders in Yelp. Just ordered a standard half-and-half bowl with white rice and veggies, no cabbage. I picked up my order got to my destination and there was no rice in my bowl. I just called and was transferred to the manager (I'm assuming it was the manager). He went on to explain that he doesn't understand how this happened because he doesn't have any orders that match my description and because they don't except orders from Yelp, which is so not true. I explained to him that I placed my order on Yelp, paid for it though Yelp and picked it up. He was nice enough to offer me a new bowl if I brought my order back with me. I'm sorry to say, but I think this flame broiler is wholly disappointing. During a pandemic, they left their condiments/utensils on a table for customers to grab. It's not the cleanest solution as customers can touch utensils they end up not taking (instead, just leaving them for other customers) - again, not the cleanest or safest solution. Additionally, the meat was dry / burnt, and the rice tasted somewhat old. There are better flame broilers in Irvine and I unfortunately can't recommend this one unless you are extremely hungry. read more

AVOCADOS FINALLY!!! I'm so happy they finally decided to add avocados to their menu (of course it's extra) it's such a good plus. I liked how waba grill had avocados but to be honest I like flame broiler a bit more so it made my day finding out they offer this. I've been going here almost weekly for the last year and a half and i noticed that the chicken in my usual chicken bowls is not trimmed as well anymore. I don't know what happened but there is a lot more of the junk that you don't want in the meat. Lots of tendons (or whatever type of fat it is) are left making my chews all rubbery/noisy and not pleasant. In fact last week, I even had a somewhat thick bone left in there, nearly cracked my tooth. I'm still giving this business 5 stars because the customer service is great. This is the second location I've tried of Flame broilers and maybe the last. If "healthy" just means dry chicken and beef, count me out because that's all I ever get from coming to Flame Broiler, time and time again. I really thought that this time around at a new location, the food was going to be better than the previous locations I've been to, but unfortunately I was met with disappointment yet again. The food is just nothing to be craved, and for a less expensive choice, I'd rather just go to Panda Express, the portions are larger and the meats aren't as dried out. Everything from the meal is just plain including the horrible side salad that comes with the meal. I'm not at all impressed with the different sauces either. The "magic" sauce and hot sauce are just average and undesirable(I'm not even going to mention the salad dressing). Everything is just so subpar, it's a real disappointment. I love grilling, broiling, etc, and yet my meats never turn out as dry as the food here does, except when I literally over cook them. Today I Approached the register, the same female cashier as my last visit was extremely intoxicated, again.... It's definitely not weed nor alcohol. We all know how flame broiler tastes, but the service here is fantastic. I had gotten my braces tightened and had completely forgotten. After I ordered my food I asked for a knife, but they don't have any at the store. The girl in the front told me to wait and ran out to what I am assuming was the next door store to get me one. That was awesome and I'll never forget that. I was able to cut the meat into smaller pieces and enjoy my food. The owner/manager looks like a super cool guy and is always asking how everything tasted etc. He seems like he really cares! My parents own a restaurant too and I simply asked him "where do you get your sauce bottles from?" and he ordered 12 bottles for the next shipment to give to me. I was extremely disappointed by both the service and quality of food at this location. First of all, I LOVE flame broiler. It's healthy, tasty and very affordable. I seriously wish I could eat it everyday as meal prep. My typical order is a chicken bowl with extra green onions, no rice, and veggies. Whenever I ask for no rice the workers always ask if I still want veggies in the bowl as well. I know every location is owned by a different person and run differently but when I ordered my chicken bowl today I mentioned I wanted veggies in my bowl. The cashier charged me extra for veggies so I told her I did not want extra veggies, I just wanted the veggies along with the chicken. She looked at me blankly and I explained that usually the workers ask if I still want veggies in my bowl... she looked at me again with a blank face, rang the order in, and went on her iPhone. When I got my bowl the bowl was filled about 1/3 of the way with water from the steamed veggies. I guess this location does not drain the water from their vegetables. Get in and get out with one of the healthier fast food options in Irvine. Wait for one of the 20% off coupons or the BOGO coupons that get circulated to the local business parking lots. I went here today with a colleague and we were in and out of the restaurant in a matter of minutes. I've had several bad experiences at this location, but decided to give them another shot. After today, I will not be going back. I was 1 of 2 customers and after 30 minutes of waiting I still hadn't received my food. In the time I waited, about 7 other customers came, ordered their food and left. I was told about 20 minutes after ordering that my chicken was still being cooked and it should be out shortly.
