Here was my experience...."Sorry we're out of this...", "That will take 10 minutes...", when asked how something is made response of "I don't really know" as an employee wipes the back of their hand across their forehead, disgusting!! 1 1/2 hours before the restaurant is supposed to close the floor is so wet with water and suds it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Stay away from this place!! Only gave 1 star because Yelp doesn't allow zero stars. Food is mediocre at best and as previous reviews mentioned, unless you're on a rice diet you will be quite upset with the entree portions. Better options of traditional Chinese food available. For starters, the food is ok, I ordered what I wanted, went to pay and order a small drink, cashier says we are out of small cups ...I ended up buying a medium but felt I should have paid the small price ....I noticed they had no sauce packets out like most other pandas, the cashier said they had to disperse them from behind the counter.....between no small cups and being made to pay medium cup price and having to now ask for sauce packets could make someone think it's a ploy ( cost savings) ..food was good, staff was nice 5 tables were dirty and in the 30 minutes I was there no one ever cleaned them .... read more

Okay, so there are a couple issues I would love to address. When I went to Panda Express, I ordered a plate with white rice, orange chicken, and premium angus steak. I pull up to the window and was then told that there was no white rice, and I would need to either get fried rice or chow mein. At this point I'm rather irritated, I switched my rice for the fried rice. After I got home I went to start my late dinner. I open the plate to reveal that I got mushroom chicken instead of my angus steak, AND I got chow mein instead of the already substituted rice! Like how much more lenient I can be? If I could give ZERO stars for this pathetic "restaurant" I absolutely would. Ever since it opened I've been disappointed with the service and food quality. It got so bad that I stopped going in for food and would only drive through on occasion for one of their Panda Passion iced tea. Well, I have learned my lesson. I am never going to this joint again! Today I drove through to get a simple iced tea. The girl took my money and came back a few minutes later and said that it had not been brewed as of yet and asked if I would like to wait. I told her that was fine and she disappeared. She came back a few minutes later and said the reason it had not been brewed is because they were out. I said fine, I will take my money back. So she disappears again and comes back another a few minutes later. She tells me that the manager had just gone to the bank and he's the only one who can give refunds. I had to wait for her to call the manager to get approval so I could get my $2.25 back. She was very sweet and apologized and offered me a side of something, but I told her I no longer eat their food and would just wait for my refund. So, after waiting for 15 minutes and leaving thirsty, I have decided that I will never, ever return to this horrible establishment. It was not this poor girl's fault, so I was not upset with her. I think the management is extremely poor at what they do and the customers are the ones who must suffer. read more

Worse Panda Express ever!! Always out of food hours before closing.... the rice tastes like sand. Also it's very expensive for American Chinese food. I give this a 5 star only because of one cook named Edy Corona there, every time we go in and he is cooking the food smells, tastes, and looks great. Every time I have gone in and he is not there the food there just is not the same. If it wasn't for him I'd probably rate this place around 2 star maybe 3. i went here because i was super freakin hungry and i was not disappointed. Keep it simple and get the orange chicken and fried rice, its the most enjoyable thing to put in your mouth since jesus's last supper. So do your self a favor and eat here. I have had my share of Panda Express around California through my travels but I have never in my life been so disgusted by how dirty this location is! Driving home to Tahoe on Friday at 7:45 expecting to grab something good to eat before I head the rest of the way home. Went to use the bathroom with a sign on the door that says I need the key got the key and it was bent and the door itself was completely broken by the time I got into the bathroom it was so unbelievably dirty I've seen truck stops along Highway 5 cleaner than this! It really made me reconsider whether I wanted to eat here. Starving as I was I decided to grab some food. I went with the standard orange chicken and chow mein. The orange chicken was cold and had very little seasoning to it. Basically it was a waste of $12 I threw it away after a few bites. I will not return to this restaurant! And I would recommend you either eat in Folsom or keep going. I'm not a fast food junkie and I would take McDonald's over what I ate today! And I think I ate at McDonald's about 5 or 6 years ago so that will tell you how bad I really think this place is. read more

I went to Panda Express in Placerville about 2-3 months ago and ordered a combination plate - fried rice, eggplant tofu and, I believe, orange chicken. I was told that it would be about 6 minutes for the eggplant dish as there was not any left. I waited, paid for my order and when I got home I discovered that the rice was raw and not cooked thoroughly, the eggplant tofu had absolutely no flavor or discernible sauce and the chicken was similarly oddly without flavor or sauce. This was extremely disappointing and upsetting, so I called immediately and asked to speak to the manager. This turned out to be Jeremy who told me that I could come in for a complimentary combo plate on a future visit. He took down my name and apologized. Today, about 2-3 months later, I went back with hopes that the food would have improved and I was especially looking forward to my complimentary meal. I explained to the clerk my situation and he tells me that Jeremy is no longer there - what a shocker, how did I already know this?? - NOT! He then looks at some list in the back and says that since it has been over a month and Jeremy is gone, there is nothing he can do. Apparently, there is some unspoken time limit on getting compensation for sub-standard food. I then talk to the new manager who comes up with yet another list. He flips through the pages and confirms that I am not on the list - even up to three months back - hmmm...interesting - pages of dissatisfied customers.... Anyway, there is also nothing he can do, as apparently Jeremy lied and said he added me to this list or the current manager is lying and saying he cannot find me either. This is unbelievably bad customer service. Do they not know that in a small town, people talk to other people and that I will surely be telling all my friends and acquaintances - of which I have many???? Additionally, a call into the Corporate Headquarters is definitely in order. read more

Stopped at this Panda on our way up to Tahoe. We were there on Friday, 6/29 around 7 pm. I'm giving it two stars because the woman who took our order wasn't stingy with her scooping and was friendly and fast. The tall "loud" cook in the back however, was obnoxious. He kept talking about how he was going to rename all the foods and even started calling for refills of dishes by his made up names like 'Chinese spaghetti' for chowmein. They were out of almost half the main dishes and when I asked about the teriyaki chicken, the loud guy quickly said "only if you want to wait 15 minutes". I made a different selection and we sat down. My husband complained that the chowmein was undercooked. As we went to sit down every single table was covered with food and only three tables were occupied. We had to wipe our own table down to sit. As we left I mentioned to an employee that the tables needed some attention (it wasn't busy). The obnoxious cook quickly made a rude comment about me bringing in my own water into his restraunt as I was leaving. Won't eat there again! read more

Very good experience, despite the negative reviews! When I saw the poor reviews, I was shocked! I go to Panda frequently and the food is always fresh! The associates frequently smile and talk to me, and make me feel very welcome. I HAVE gotten overcooked rangoons before, but very rarely. It could be certain cooks, because most of the time I get very good food. I saw some other reviews complaining about the shrimp tasting fried instead of stir-fried... I am almost 100% sure that the shrimp *IS* deep fried, so it's going to taste it. There have been a few times when some of my food was missing a certain vegetable (such as carrots in the Mixed Vegetables), but when I asked, it was explained that the store was OUT of that vegetable due to high demand of that dish. That is one of the reasons I gave 4 stars instead of five; while they do a great job, they don't always seem prepared for large groups of people. And that leads me to some of the negative aspects. Because this Panda Express has a drive thru, the associates appear to have a hard time juggling the inside and the drive thru. And the lack of communication can cause certain dishes to go empty before the cooks are told (usually at the request of a customer) to make it. So waiting times during busy times are almost guaranteed. And waiting customers (including myself) grow impatient, and the associates tend to lose their smiles and one girl even began to have a very bad attitude towards some customers (though, I haven't seen her in a long time). Also, because the associates seem to be incapable of doing any more than drive-thru and helping the inside customers during busy periods, the tables CAN get messy. Lately, however, I've noticed a drastic increase in store cleanliness and open tables. On store cleanliness. I have noticed that the cooks scoop vegetables out of containers with their bare hands, as noted in a previous review. However, I've seen this practice at multiple panda expresses, and I have watched them wash their hands beforehand. Also, once the food has been boiled/fried and cooked, they don't appear to touch it with their hands again. Of course, there are two counters between me and the kitchen, so I can only see so much. The toilet paper in the woman's restroom has been out a few times while I'm there--they don't seem to check the restrooms much. Occasionally, the sauces are low or out, but the associates don't hesitate to get you more if you notify them. The tables are frequently cleaned when it's not busy, and occasionally associates even offer to throw away your trash for you. If you are waiting on a dish, the associate will walk it out to you, even if you are waiting outside or in your car. Mainly, I hate the parking lot, inconveniently placed outside Wal-Mart in an inaccessible corner. Once you navigate your way through a ridiculous tangle of parking spots, though, it has a very nice atmosphere. My advice is to not go when it's busy (meaning don't go around 12 when people are coming for lunch, and don't come around 5-7 when people come for dinner), and if you have a large order, to order inside instead of in the drive-thru, because if you order a large order through the drive-thru, it may take a LONG time. read more

I went through your drive thru today at the Placerville, Ca location. There were several kids riding skateboards in the drive thru area, in and around the cars in the drive thru. I asked the young man at the window why they allow this and he rudely said, the kids have been doing this for over a year what do you want the Manager to do about it....I answered that it is dangerous and someone could get hit and that they should contact law enforcement. He advised that the Manager did not want to do that. I advised him again, they need to do something about it as it was dangerous and he said it is the Managers problem and it is not his concern. I am appalled that the Manager would not deal with an issue like this. Won't be going here anymore. Accident waiting to happen. read more

Let's just add to the negative reviews here. We showed up and they were out of half the stuff. There was a younger woman that was very apologetic and was handing everybody free samples while the ONE cook was trying to catch up. She even handed everybody free sodas while we waited. That, I was okay with. But what really pissed me off was the younger woman with a very heavy Chinese accent, which I believe was the manager, was confronting the other girl in front of all the customers and almost yelling at her. Then the manager almost gave our food that we waited for for 45 minutes!! Not only did she hand us our 2 plates without a tray, she charged us for our drinks that were given to us for the wait. I have grown up on Panda, and love their food. Enter Hangtown. I made the mistake of ordering from the drive thru at dinner time. My two entree plate of orange chicken and broccoli beef turned out to be broccoli and rice. I got skimped on the Orange chicken and the brocoli beef was about 10-12 pieces of broccoli and 2 baby pieces of beef. I drove home and called as soon as I opened the package. I told the manager on duty, "Nellie", what happened and that I had already thrown away the receipt and I was told to "go dig through the trash". Awesome customer service. CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE! For a fifteen minute drive it isn't worth digging through my trash and returning. But I can assure you, that I will not be returning, EVER. I only posted this because of her lack of respect and customer service on the phone. You have been warned. read more

I swing by to Panda Express at all kinds of locations. This location is the worst one. I had given them chances more than a few times. I sat in the restaurant today. 1) They were out of trays. The employee was not going to give me a tray for my food and drink until I mentioned. Then She brought me a very wet tray without wiping. I mentioned again that it is very wet. She just shrugged her shoulders to me. I told her I didn't want the tray. Looked nasty. 2) Their tables and chairs are usually dirty. They come and clean the chairs and tables, but they don't do a good job. I usually have to wipe off food and other things. Also when they wipe off, it is usually too wet. (Nasty to sit right after they clean ) 3) More than one occasions, their steamed rice is hard and dry. I understand it is a fast food place. But other Panda Express shops are handling very well. This place really isn't that bad. I've eaten here many times. They have enough traffic where the food turns over quickly during all times of the day since they cook entrees one batch at a time and only when needed. This means you may have to wait a bit if it's crowded to get a fresh batch but it's worth it in you aren't in a hurry. I've never tried the drive-thru. Personally, I like to go in and see the food and then decide what looks good that day and order that. Hard to go wrong with the teriyaki chicken with the sauce on the side. The sweet fire chicken (white breast meat) orange chicken (thigh meat) is good and the walnut prawns have never disappointed - as long as all these dishes are cooked fresh. I was surprised that the prawns were big and fresh and not fishy tasting and this is a popular dish with the locals. I've tried other Pandas and I think this one is the best and most consistent in flavor and freshness. read more

I had never been to a Panda Restaurant but had occasion to go this last week while visiting in the area. I can easily say that it was the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had. I ordered several dishes and they all tasted the same. Awful. There was only one dish with veggies which was broccoli beef. Broccoli looked old and wilted. If you like Chinese food -- stay away from this place. I don't like to waste food but had to throw out most of it. It truly was not fit for human consumption. read more

If I could rate it less than 1 star, I would. I arrived at the drive through at 7:04 and had one car in front of me at the ordering kiosk. At 7:07, their order was finally taken. I drove forward and 7 minutes later at 7:14, my order was taken. I then drove forward to the window and had to wait another 5 minutes for my food. It was only a single order of chow mein! And not to mention, my order was only slightly above room temperature by the time they gave it to me. I love this place. The employees are friendly and very patient as we decided what to order. The food is very tasty, and flavorful and mine was delicious. I had the chow mein noodles in a bowl with the chicken and green beans. It's always delicious! The place is clean. The food was hot and ready to eat and you can see the price ahead of time. It's not a mystery. I even had enough leftovers for dinner the next evening. At $3.00 a meal that's excellent. I feel it was pretty healthy food too. I visited this location for dinner with my husband it was 4:30 and they were out of almost everything we waited 15 minutes for them to fill it then it took another 15 minutes for them to help us. There was a very long line inside and one of their employees who was working in the drive thru decided it was ok to help her friend that walked in even though she was at the end of the line with at least 7 people in front of them. She went out into the dining room and took their order then rang it up in the drive thru also gave them a discount on their food, she then proceeded to make their food instead of helping the customers that had been waiting over 15 minutes there already. I brought this problem to the cashiers attention and was treated so rudely by the cashier she informed me " i cant control my coworkers" with total attitude i wanted to slap her. the situation never got addressed then as i paid she tossed the spring rolls i purchased at me and walked away. I did not get the fortune cookies or soda i paid for i was so pissed i left. This is defiantly not the location you want to go to if you are hungry they are rude and take forever. read more
