I also loved the coffee bar, and the food itself was genuinely very good. That said, the ordering system really took away from the experience. Having to stand in one long line for drinks and another line for food just feels frustrating and inefficient, especially on a busy holiday like Mother's Day. It honestly felt more like serving yourself than dining out, yet the payment screen still pushes 18-25% tips. Mother's Day especially needed much better signage, more organization, and additional registers open. The lines were extremely long and moved painfully slow just to place an order. I really do love the concept and the atmosphere here, but the customer flow and service setup could use some major improvements during high-volume events.

There were two stores not far from each other and they were always packed. I shopped at the smaller one as it was closer to my home. When I moved to El Dorado Hills 5 years ago... thank goodness there was a big and beautiful Nugget a mile and half away. My point is all Nugget markets are quite incredible. Nothing compares to them. Excellent quality, in-house prepared food, bakery... TDF, floral, meat department, liquor, and fabulous fresh produce section. Fork Lift is to me like the Nugget markets on steroids! I was astonished at the size of the store and cool inside architectural design. Yes it is hip! Super clean, well stocked in everything. Organized. Quite impressive. And the same great departments as I mentioned above that are available in the Nugget stores are right here too! The chatter is that the Fork Lift offers many discounted prices but honestly, I never see them. Then I heard the lower priced items are strategically placed in and around the store. Who knows. I enjoy taking the drive up the hill to Cameron Park occasionally just to wander around and marvel at this shopping mecca! Easy exit off the freeway and fast to find. Plenty of parking. Worth checking out if you are in the area or on the way to or returning from Tahoe. Did I mention super duper customer service!?! And weekly specials! Saucy without being thick, a good thin consistency. Fair amount of chicken. Veggies lots of them,, eggplant, carrot, bamboo shoots, onion and green beans. Added some jasmine rice for perfection. And we have drunken noodles to go, so we might post those pictures later! Thank you for being open at 3 o'clock! We originally went up the hill for a Thai food and they were closed early at 2:20 then went on a mad rush to find anybody who was open at three because we had to come back down the hill :(

My friend had the veggie omelette and said it was good, but even a simple veggie omelette was $15. If the food were excellent, I would not complain paying that much, but it was far from that.
