I've been living in Germantown since 2019, and my husband recently moved in with me. As we explored Chinese food options in the area, we discovered this spot. It's a short drive from us or, on a nice summer day, a good 35-minute walk. While it's a bit farther compared to other places, it's absolutely worth it--it's by far the best Chinese food we've tried, and the freshness really stands out. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli, asking for it to be prepared with less sodium, and it was perfect. The dish wasn't drowning in sauce, which let the shrimp and broccoli shine--a rarity in many places. Their crab rangoons were equally impressive, with a light, crisp fry that wasn't overly greasy. Despite being a small place, their service is top-notch. You can tell it's family-owned, and the care they put into their food and service really shows. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful Chinese food with great service, this place is a true gem. (By the way it's not a place to sit and eat it's more so take out although they have seating for your wait time. read more

This is a take-out food restaurant. I always call my orders in first rather than sitting on one of the few chairs. It looks like one of many cheap Chinese restaurants around the city with its bulletproof glass and old food pictures. Don't be fooled by that. The food is really good. And I like that they will make special orders (nothing crazy; just substituting bean curd for chicken and black bean sauce for another). They've never made a mistake. Horrible Chinese food. Meat was completely over cooked, I believe the chicken is the new bioengineered meat so do not order it. The pork was definitely old and refilled in sauce then microwaved before placing in my rice. Do not order from here. read more

I tried this place one night after work. It has the worst wonton soup I've ever had. It had absolutely no flavor and completely fell apart while eating, so it was just a flat wonton wrapper in water. Super gross read more

This is the best in the mt.Airy area of Philly. Seriously. I love anything that they make with the BBQ pork, it's real and real tasty. The meifun, chicken wings, fried rice, soups, egg foo young, and spicy dishes all excellent. Aside from what I listed, you're on your own but I can say that if you are craving Chinese, this place hits the spot. This is a family owned biz and it shows in the care that they prepare and package the food. I gave an extra star for excellent Covid safety practices. read more

From recently living in West Mt Airy, I have appreciated the cooking in this family owned restaurant. During some main holidays, I valued the restaurant being open and both the owner husband & sometimes his wife have been behind the wok and stove to prepare dinners with very good sauces, and fresh vegetables, etc. I have ordered their vegetable soup, which is one of the best in the city, with a very good broth along with plenty of vegetable including some unusual as a ridged cut zucchini & carrot, some water chestnut, broccoli, tofu, mushroom, & others. Friday, April 5, 2024. I came here like I normally do expecting the great food and service I've always gotten pre-pandemic. This time I was in for a surprise: nothing tasted like usual and the food didn't look appealing. wasn't sure what meat was in my chicken and broccoli and when I bit into to try it caused me to gag. Even the egg rolls had a weird taste. My wife said this didn't. one from the same place. I snatched all the food and threw it out. $55 down the drain. Disappointed is the nicest word I can come up with. Never again! read more

This is my go to Chinese spot in my neighborhood. I work very long hours, and Thursday's are always particularly busy. After being on my feet/walking for 12 hours I'm often too tired to even think about cooking. Panda garden is always there for me! I love the food here and it is so well made. Especially the Chinese Chicken wings. Other menu items I recommend are the beef and broccoli, sautéed green beans, chicken on a stick, pork lo mien, pork fried rice, and the sweet and sour chicken. I get those all pretty often and they have yet to disappoint. The pricing is really great for the quality you get. Also, the delivery guy is either always on time or early which I appreciate since I usually think I'm dying of starvation. read more

Clean Professional Wings Everything else Stop searching for best chinese There are a couple of "fancy" Chinese restaurants in the area that don't measure up to this hole-in-the wall. This is my local go to for chinese food when I'm stuck at home with no food around. Food is cheap, and reliable. I can't say its the best chinese food ever but it meets your basic expectation of chinese food. I wish they would add brown rice options though. read more

THE WORST DELIVERY SERVICE EVER!!! They take over an hour to come! I called and it took another 15mins, and my Chinese pizza I ordered was burnt DISGUSTING shrimp fried rice was NOT fresh at all and I ordered spicy garlic shrimp and broccoli it wasn't spicy at all and when I asked for a refund since MY ENTIRE ORDER was wrong or not freshly made. Since we've moved here, this place has been my standard, go-to Chinese takeout. It's fairly average, yet consistent as a takeout place, and I've definitely encountered worse around here. Staff is always very polite and accommodating, service is quick. Minor frustration... I live literally 1.3 miles away and while they do deliver (I've called multiple times and had delivery) for some reason when I try to get delivery through the app, it says they don't deliver to my apartment. Not a major problem, but something weird is happening. read more

They have Phoenix roll. It's the only place I found in years that has it. It is a little beat up in the sense of how it looks but so far I've been very satisfied with food here. Very polite family oriented. the kids are running the register which is cool by me it means there a tight family. Every place that serves good food doesn't always looks like the finest of dining. Solid place. Check out the Phoenix roll try something different. read more

This is the only Chinese take out I even bother with when I am in Mt Airy. It's a small little hole in the wall type of spot on the corner or Mt. Pleasant and Lincoln Dr. They also deliver, but I have never personally used their service. First off the food is always fresh and flavorful; typical fare. I've been disappointed by so many take out spots that I have become extremely picky. But Panda Garden hasn't let me down yet. I almost always go for lunch and make use of the specials which are $6.50 and up. The servings are typically a bit smaller than most take out spots but it is still filling. Did I already mention I don't bother with any other Chinese take out in the area? Allow me to repeat myself haha. read more

I ordered from this place twice and I must say their food is absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was flavorful not too salty and it was piping hot. I also like the fact that you can order different sauces of your choice. This would definitely be my go-to spot from now on and the delivery was super fast. The only thing that I had a problem with was they never put napkins in the bag. read more

Hmm...maybe my standards for really good Chinese food are too high. This place is merely ok, in my opinion. Things are fried. The sauce is brown. Not that different from a million other Chinese places in the naked city. On the other hand--delivery, which is always a plus. read more

NOTE: This place is cash only. This was the first time I've eaten here. My boyfriend and I have had quite the adventure in finding decent Chinese food since we moved to Germantown. This place is 2 miles away so we called only to be told that we were too far away and they didn't deliver. We actually called back again to speak to the woman, who was quite friendly, to check to see if she actually knew where we were and she said yes, it was too far to deliver. We found that a bit weird but decided to just go pick it up. My boyfriend said the place was nice and the people that worked there were friendly. The food however wasn't that impressive. Overall, it's standard Chinese fare with below average flavor. Here are some highlights: Sesame Chicken - fresh, hot,soft, not hard and crunchy with just enough sweetness, however after it cooled off a bit- chunks of it hardened and weren't chewable White Rice - tasted metallic and old, like it had been pulled off an old box in the back of a shelf - I couldn't eat it Fried Rice - decent but a bit bland Egg Rolls - just enough crunch, good size, good but still lacking some flavor Crab Rangoon - delicious but the outer corners of the pastry were so hard that I had to break them off before I could eat them Sweet & Sour sauce - standard, sweet, tasted good In a pinch, I might order there again as it's close by and has friendly people but it's definitely not my first choice if I'm craving some good Chinese. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! All I have to say is NOBODY EVER EAT AT THIS PLACE! My stepdad saw one of the cooks drop a piece of broccoli on the ground and have the nerve to legit pick it up and put it back in the the food! My stepdad did call the man out but, the fact that he did such a thing is absolutely disgusting! There are so many stereotypes about how Chinese restaurants do dirty things in their restaurants and this just proves it to be true! This place needs to be shut down ASAP! If they are picking things up off the group and putting them in people's food what else are they doing? DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR AND DO NOT EAT AT THIS DUMP! read more

When you call the restaurant directly, delivery is super fast. The people are super nice and the food is super hot. I love the Tai Chen Chicken and the fried chicken is the best. (I wish they could deliver beer and the meal would be perfect...but oh well :) But when you order your meal, try the sweet tea. It is surprisingly good and its homemade. read more

I haven't reviewed Panda Garden yet? Well, I will now. Panda Garden has always been my go-to Chinese food in the neighborhood for almost 10 years. They have great, fresh tasting food that's never too greasy. The menu has a really nice variety of delicious food. I usually go for their boneless ribs or General tsos chicken, both of which are fabulous. I always ask for my food to be extra spicy and they always deliver on my request. And as for soup, they have amazing wonton soup and hot & sour soup, both which I highly recommend. I love too that when you order a combination platter, you always get this nice container of sweet iced tea. read more

Me and the hubby get take out from here all the time. Their food is good (we've tried just about everything and some of our favorites are the fried chicken wings and the sweet and sour chicken) , the service is lightning fast, and you absolutely can not beat the price. My only problem is that I don't LOVE the wontons and wonton soup is my fave, but I still order it all the time, so obviously it's not THAT bad! Haha. Okay, this is my go-to Chinese-American restaurant. I agree with everything in all of the good reviews, but I will add this: Those of you who think the food is not great? You are ordering the wrong things! Get out of your comfort zone and order something different for a change. You think they like cooking the same old General Tso's Chicken, etc., over and over, day after day? Two suggestions: the Ho Fun is straight tasty comfort food. Trust me. And--I shouldn't be telling you this--but their Won Ton Egg Drop Soup, is OFF THE HOOK. You're welcome. read more

I love this place. They're quick and cheap and the food is great each and every time we come here. Delivery was surprisingly quick and the food tasted great. I requested special instructions for 3 meals and they got it right. I ordered the General Tso Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein and a Fried Wing Platter- all of which tasted fresh and piping hot upon delivery. Would definitely recommend. read more

Edible, but barely. The good news is that I don't think any Pandas were killed for my order. Sadly, I don't think any garden was, either. The food is greasy, bland, and strangely metallic tasting. Not sure if this even rates as takeout Chinese. Maybe it's thow out Chinese? On a positive note, it is very cheap. read more

Might try a different choice if I order again.
