Ok so this place has changed ownership for the better by far. I ate here before 1 time that was enough, then I heard new owners and good food. I wanted to give them a shot. I was not disappointed. We had 2 combos and homemade potstickers for $35 very reasonable. I had the chicken in garlic sauce/ steamed rice. The hubs had Mongolian beef and chow mein. First off the chow mein probably one of the best around Reno. Thinner noodles not soggy, fresh veggies cooked perfectly al dente. The chicken with garlic sauce has so many yummy veggies also cooked perfectly. My only critique is a little more garlic (I love garlic) and a little more chicken. But I was not disappointed. My husband Mongolian beef also very flavorful and the meat wasn't mushy like you get in some places. Ok now the potstickers, they make them there! So yummy even without the sauce and full of meat. Service and food was good. When you first pull up, there doesn't look like there are any seating but there is. Several tables along the wall. All orders were prepared to order so all came out very fresh. Only one person cooking it looked like, so definitely not fast food. Meaning either order before arriving or expect to wait for food that's going to come out fresh and hot. The man behind counter is very nice and social which makes for great customer service. We will for sure be back to try other dishes. We ordered pineapple chicken, orange chicken combo and chow mein/fried rice combo. My grandson who is picky eater loved the orange chicken. Nice little place for some good food. First time here tonight and I thought it was very nice. They have a few tables for dining in, but most people were getting take out. I decided to try the chow mein and fried rice special. It was actually pretty good! Cooked fresh to order. Wife had pineapple chicken which was also good. Went in last week the person at the counter (Sonny) was rolling spring rolls in the lobby. Never once seen washing hands after helping customers. Ordered egg foo young was so disappointed it was the thinnest piece of egg mixture with vegetables on top. Once we turned the container upside down to get to the egg foo young it was as if it was fried liquid zero taste. The fried rice was dry lemon chicken flavor was ok but the chicken was stringy and was not consumed. Will not return or recommend Owner needs to learn about hygiene as well as how to cook read more

Open on Christmas Day. They get a plus for that. The counter man was very friendly and helpful. But you could tell he'd had a long day. We ordered Orange Chicken combo, vegetable egg foo young and sesame chicken combo. Portion size was pretty good. How did we get two orange chicken combos and a General Tso's chicken? Well, they got one right. Pro Tip: LOOK IN THE BAG! While in the store. Oh, who cares, I'm gonna eat it, regardless. There are 3 or 4 tables you can eat at; there's a tacky, stickiness to the table tops that made it not too terribly inviting. They do have a table outside, but Christmas evening in Reno is 36 degrees. We drove home. So Mrs. E. eats her orange chicken and rice and I have some General's, orange and chow mein. For Asian take-away, this tastes really good. Decent place that we'll stop at again if the need arises. Hole in the wall spot with decent service and reasonable pricing. Seems to be geared more towards pick up orders/take out than dining in. Can't beat the price and the food was still warm when served about 30 minutes after pick up which was impressive. The flavor on the broccoli in the vegetable chow mein was a standout. read more

I read about the best foods to eat and tried to order something close to eat (because I wasn't ready to try cooking it). I wanted to try a new place. I looked at different options. Read reviews. Decided on Panda House. We ordered chicken chow mein for noodles. Chose the pork potstickers for dumplings. Orange chicken for citrus, and well, because we like orange chicken. And almond cookies. I am very honest about my reviews and I can be picky with food. We have some pretty good Chinese food eateries in the Reno/Sparks area, and I would include Panda House. My partner is pickier than me, and he was happy with our order :) Everything was delicious and portions lasted 2 days! First my order was wrong. They gave me two orange chicken and no general Tso chicken. Second the food was discusting. Nobody ate any of it. It smelt bad and tasted worse. This place is right by my house and I always pass by it, but never go! One day, I happen to order them off door dash and the won ton soup was really good, so I decided I would stop by and see what other yum yums they had. I recently ordered the Singapore Mei fun and it was great. It was decently priced and they packed the take out box with noodles. The box was heavy. The flavor was on point, plenty of curry and not oily. I will be back to try their other menu items, but so far it's been a great food and take out experience. We live in NW Reno, on the west side of Rancho San Rafael park, and even though there are multiple Chinese restaurants within 2-3 miles of us, Panda House is the only one that delivers (and they are about 5 miles away). That in itself deserves an extra star! We ordered delivery on a Sunday evening off of the Yelp app. Super easy to order and understand the menu, and the food arrived within 35 minutes - quicker than most pizza places. The bill was about $40 for 3 dishes, delivery charge, and tip, which is steep for Chinese, but understandable for the convenience. The pork fried rice was good, pretty standard American Chinese fare, though I did appreciate how large and flavorful the pork pieces were. Beef with Snow Peas wasn't bad. Snow Peas were overcooked and kind of limp, but the beef was cooked well and the flavor was there. My favorite was the House Special Chow Mein, in which they use big fat udon noodles instead of regular chow mein noodles. Yummy and slippery and just dang good. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews on here... they are not reinventing the wheel or trying to offer something innovative. It's just good standard American Chinese food that delivers to your door really quick. What more could you ask for? read more

There were bugs in my wonton soup. It was only a small and I found two. This is so discussing, but, I went back and asked politely for a refund and to my surprise the owner told me that I probably put them in there in order to get a refund. There was probably more bugs in the soup but I was too horrified to continue looking. I will never go here again and I hope no one else does either. The owner is unapologetic and rude and does not care if her costumers get sick or even if they have insects in their food. read more

I can't speak for the rest of my family BUT I can speak for me. My daughter used to live in Sun Valley and recommended this Chinese food place for us to try. We drove over 20 miles round-trip to try it out. I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice. My chicken appeared to be all breading and very little of what resembled chicken. My rice was overcooked and had very little flavor to it. It had little diced up pieces of some kind of meat in it that had some kind of horrible seasoning on it. It was bad. My husband, said pretty much the same thing. I survived eating it but I won't order from this restaurant again. Not even if it were free. read more

I've tried several Chinese takeout restaurants , and I can say with confidence this is by far the best in Reno, and perhaps some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. They're slightly hidden away in the legendary Sun Valley trailer park boulevard, but you can't miss they're sign on the left clearly labeled "PANDA HOUSE." Regarding portion size, it's pretty ridiculous. They have a lunch special for $6.50, which is my go to whenever I'm in for a quick lunch. It's one side, one meat, and includes an egg roll (best egg roll ever). Call it in and they'll have it ready in ten minutes or less, sitting there, waiting for you, staring you straight in the face the moment you walk in the door, as you inhale the fresh smell of sizzling meats and fried chow mein. You're average every day eater would easily have a full stomach for lunch, and plenty of leftovers, for only $6.50. If you're looking to feed a family, they have family sizes as well. Pork chow mien or fried rice for just $8, and meat platters for $8 as well, and you get an insane amount of food for what you pay, I never feel guilty because I know I'm getting a great deal. As for the food itself, I could rave all day about how good it is, but what else is so great about Panda House, is the variety of food they serve, yet are still able to make everything taste so delicious. The general chicken is amazing. Sweet and sour pork is like nothing else. Orange chicken is the best and really fills you up. They also have a really good Kung pao chicken if your trying to eat on the healthier side. Chow mien is also the best, it tastes authentic and serve it with really thick noodles. Fried rice is good, but they also serve it steamed. If your looking for a side, they have delicious pot stickers, pork buns, and egg rolls that will leave you craving more. Sometimes I need help with meals when I am busy doing other things in life. Chinese. I really wanted some simple sides and delivered. I was blown away. So much so that I ordered again. And the third time was amazing. Hot, crispy appetizers with meaty mains with sauces and lovely vegetables and a mountain of fluffy rice. And good. Chinese locally can mean different things, and always a chef's own flourishes. The sauces were tasty and nice. We ordered (2x)pork fried rice, (2x)beef chow mein, orange chicken, cashew chicken, sesame chicken, s&s pork, pot stickers, egg rolls and ragoons. Plus 2 different soups. In this economy spending $100 on takeout for a family of 5 (adults) is kind of nuts but we've enjoyed panda house before. But tonight the cashew chicken was literally veggies and cashews, no chicken, the orange chicken had a film to it that looked like it'd be frozen (even though they claim everything is made fresh) and the sesame chicken was bland and just disgusting. The pork fried rice was dry. And by dry I mean, left out for days dry. The s&s pork was just not as good as times before either. The egg rolls did not taste like veggie egg rolls either. The only thing edible was the soups and ragoons. ($15 of our over $100 bill). I just threw over $75+ of food away. Do you know how that makes a family trying to survive and wanting to enjoy a family meal together feel? We'd of been better off going to Hobey's and at least having a decent edible food. Do not eat here. And please, Panda House, I'd like my money back. Bad business, bad food, bad just manners towards everything. Just a mediocre american chinese food place. Looks like most if not all, their business is to-go, very american mall chinese food here. I ordered beef with vegetable, thinking it was automatically a lunch special given, it was lunch, but it turned out I got it a la cart. As I was waiting, I knew something was messed up because I was never asked fried rice or chow mein either, I assumed she was giving me fried rice. I also ordered a small egg flower soup. The egg flower, is such a gringo version (pardon the mexican slang term in a chinese food review). It makes me wonder how they can even mess it up that much, I have done a better job just googling a recipe and making it at home. I know they use egg yolk food coloring too, the soup is definitely a fake, bright, almost neon, unnatural yellow with frozen peas and carrots. The beef with vegetable wasn't bad, pretty thing sauce, but I got some bone in the meat... I don't know why, but that always turns me instantly off... I mean, its natural, but it just creeps out your mouth with an unexpected texture, I always gag. I don't really foresee coming back unless I'm desperate, would rather go the opposite direction and hit cj palace or chin chin off pyramid. I am a gentlemen who enjoys take out Chinese. Having lived in a few different areas of the country due to school and work, I have had the chance to sample many local versions and I must say Panda House is pretty good. (In case you want to know, Killeen Texas has the worst Chinese food I have ever had) Panda House does not make things over saucy like some other places I have been too. The rice is nice, but not "needed" as a sauce barrier. We had the Orange Chicken which had a wonderful crispiness to it, and the Crab Rangoons which were above average. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a good local place. They have a menu that's on the small side, but seems to have a bit of everything. I use to go here pretty often, given how close it was near to where I live. The food was decent for the price, but after a few months it got really poor and bland. Everything now taste, which there is not much of, the same. Now for the service. When I would call in to put in an order it was usually handled to by a child. When i would go in and pick up the food, the entire transaction was tooken once again by a very unhappy child, maybe no older than 10. Many times the orders have been messed up and almost always very difficult to communicate with any worker, child or adult. The noodles were an overcooked mushy lump with the occasional raw noodle. No real flavor. Beef was ok. Its hard to mess up noodles. They messed up noodles. Was nervous about ordering here because of the bad reviews, but i thought it was pretty good! I ordered using Yelp and the food came on time, if not early. I had the General Tofu, vegetable chow mein, and some egg rolls. The egg rolls were bomb, the tofu was perfectly fried and crispy, and the vegetable chow mein was like any other chow mein.
