Late post, but we recently discovered they serve Pho -- and that alone felt like striking gold in Fernley. There's just something comforting about a warm bowl of Pho; it's basically a hug in soup form. Of course, we also had to order a few of our longtime favorites -- the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and Sesame Chicken. Both were delicious as always and definitely hit the spot. For this particular review, I am rating this place a 5-star based on the town it is located in (Fernley) and relative to the other restaurants available to choose from (even the non-Chinese ones), which are few. Dragon City is the one of the best dining establishments in Fernley, NV. There, I said it, and I stand by it. Inside, you will find a comfortable atmosphere with warm lighting and friendly service. Especially compared to other places in town, the seating is quiet, comfortable, and inviting. The food may be a little on the pricey side, but you get a TON of it with every serving and will have extra food to eat for the next day or two, easily, to the point it's like purchasing food for a family of three for three days. I usually order my food to-go, over the phone, and it's usually ready in ten minutes. Even if they say the wait will be 20-30 minutes, it's generally ready in 15-20. They'll even text you when the food is ready! Dragon City's food is flavorful and consistent, which cannot be said for the other Chinese food restaurants in town (and none of them have even close to the same atmosphere). What I especially appreciate about this establishment is that their meat is always tender, especially their Sesame Chicken. Wow, what a dish! It's my family's favorite. Our other go-to dishes are Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Pork Mu-Shu, and of course the trusted standbys, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and an order of Pot Stickers. Their Sweet & Sour Pork and Orange (or Lemon) Chicken are pretty decent, too, but sometimes a little sweeter than we're in the mood for since we're also getting the Sesame Chicken nearly every time. All-in-all, Dragon City is one our favorite places to frequent in this little town. We had avoided even trying the place back when it was called, IIRC, "Louie's Chinese Bistro." I just couldn't picture a guy named 'Louie' running a Chinese place, and "Bistro", a French word for a place that cooks comfort food... yeah, I couldn't reconcile that as a place I wanted to go for Chinese cuisine. I don't know if they changed ownership or just the name, but once they became Dragon City, we gave them a shot and we are very happy we did. The food took way to long for what it was but to be honest it was not as bad as the other places here in Fernley so I would say if you want Chinese food really good and need it now instead of driving to Reno I would rather go here than anywhere else in Fernley. read more

I've always had wonderful service from Dragon City whether I'm eating there or taking my food to go. The restaurant does a lot of to go orders. The tables are nicely organized and spaced decently apart. The food I think is fantastic and they will make your order exactly how you would like it. My only complaint would be that I don't get the same amount of food each time I order it to go. They should have a scale or some way of making sure customers receive repeated orders the same. I've received at times very small portions of the same items I ordered last week. If I would've known that I would have gotten two orders so I would feel full. NEVER AGAIN. I went in to make a "to-go" order. The lady (I believe she was the owner) who took my order informed me that soup wasn't included in the combination dinner plates - but the price was the same. ??? She was fairly argumentative, but she smiled the whole time. Asked if I could order soup to go (just to see what the reason was for no soup on the combos) and she said I COULD order soup...so my theory of "no soup because they didn't have containers for it" went out the window. I did NOT order soup. Ordered extra beef in the beef and broccoli plate $4 extra. Well I would hate to see what it would have looked like without the extra beef. There is NO way extra beef was added. The general's chicken was mostly breading, as was the sweet and sour pork. The rice was awful. Very mushy and not tasty. All in all, the food was awful. Asked for a glass of Chardonnay while I waited. I was informed I could have white zin or red wine. Most definitely will not be patronizing this establishment again due to poor customer service, unfair pricing, and low-quality food. read more

First visit ever to Dragon City and have to say the food and service were excellent. Portions of each item were plentiful. The orange chicken had a nice tangy slightly spicy flavor, the rice was well made, and the bbq appetizer complimented the entire meal well. The meal started with the hot and sour soup, and I was impressed at how well it tasted. One of my favorites I've had elsewhere that left much to desire. I ordered a Black Tea and the waitress talked me into trying the boba, which I had no idea what it was. I was surprised to find out it was added crystal like balls to the drink. Interesting for sure, but still admit I don't know what they are for! The restaurant has quite a bit of seating and even has a fireplace in the back. Few cold spots and raw onions can be overlooked. BUT, the flavors are at best... Muted. Nonexistent. Not a single flat/fermented bean in the Chow Fun. There was by asian standards, no flavor in either of the dishes i ordered. Is the water bad in Fernley? Even my ice water was kinda... Off? The food is good. However, they are very sloppy with the containers they use for takeout orders. It's a huge mess when you open the bags. Just for that, I don't think i will be doing takeouts anymore. Did it twice here and it's the same huge sloppy mess every time. If someone is ordering food at home, that means they want minimal mess and virtually no cleanup. They just throw the food into all one bag. Juice dripping all over the other foods, sweet and sour sauce all on the inside of the bag. Just horrible! They really need to not be so cheap with their choice of containers. Pretty hit or miss. When it's great, it's super great but when it's bad it's awful. The last visit I made the fried rice seemed kinda stale and the chicken was over fried. Not to mention, when paying for takeout, they solicit tips which I always give but never have been given suggestions for it on a checkout screen. Had Sesame Chicken.
