Late post, but we recently discovered they serve Pho -- and that alone felt like striking gold in Fernley. There's just something comforting about a warm bowl of Pho; it's basically a hug in soup form. Of course, we also had to order a few of our longtime favorites -- the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and Sesame Chicken. Both were delicious as always and definitely hit the spot. For this particular review, I am rating this place a 5-star based on the town it is located in (Fernley) and relative to the other restaurants available to choose from (even the non-Chinese ones), which are few. Dragon City is the one of the best dining establishments in Fernley, NV. There, I said it, and I stand by it. Inside, you will find a comfortable atmosphere with warm lighting and friendly service. Especially compared to other places in town, the seating is quiet, comfortable, and inviting. The food may be a little on the pricey side, but you get a TON of it with every serving and will have extra food to eat for the next day or two, easily, to the point it's like purchasing food for a family of three for three days. I usually order my food to-go, over the phone, and it's usually ready in ten minutes. Even if they say the wait will be 20-30 minutes, it's generally ready in 15-20. They'll even text you when the food is ready! Dragon City's food is flavorful and consistent, which cannot be said for the other Chinese food restaurants in town (and none of them have even close to the same atmosphere). What I especially appreciate about this establishment is that their meat is always tender, especially their Sesame Chicken. Wow, what a dish! It's my family's favorite. Our other go-to dishes are Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Pork Mu-Shu, and of course the trusted standbys, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and an order of Pot Stickers. Their Sweet & Sour Pork and Orange (or Lemon) Chicken are pretty decent, too, but sometimes a little sweeter than we're in the mood for since we're also getting the Sesame Chicken nearly every time. All-in-all, Dragon City is one our favorite places to frequent in this little town. We had avoided even trying the place back when it was called, IIRC, "Louie's Chinese Bistro." I just couldn't picture a guy named 'Louie' running a Chinese place, and "Bistro", a French word for a place that cooks comfort food... yeah, I couldn't reconcile that as a place I wanted to go for Chinese cuisine. I don't know if they changed ownership or just the name, but once they became Dragon City, we gave them a shot and we are very happy we did. I'm pretty sure I have found my favoritorist (not a typo! ) BBQ Pork Fried Rice, and it's in Fernley, NV and it's served along-side flavorful chunky-noodle, Chow Mein. There's an entire page dedicated to the Lunch Specials at Dragon City. 25 of them! I chose Kung POW Chicken, Egg Flower Soup and I'm such a sucker for Potstickers, I added a side of those, too. First visit ever to Dragon City and have to say the food and service were excellent. Portions of each item were plentiful. The orange chicken had a nice tangy slightly spicy flavor, the rice was well made, and the bbq appetizer complimented the entire meal well. The meal started with the hot and sour soup, and I was impressed at how well it tasted. One of my favorites I've had elsewhere that left much to desire. I ordered a Black Tea and the waitress talked me into trying the boba, which I had no idea what it was. I was surprised to find out it was added crystal like balls to the drink. Interesting for sure, but still admit I don't know what they are for! The restaurant has quite a bit of seating and even has a fireplace in the back. Small tables for one or two line the windows along an outside seating area. There is a counter that would seat 6 or 7, and I can assume you are free to sit there as well. read more

Ive never in my life lived so far away from decend chinese food. So i drove 30min hoping Fernley could keep it under an hour drive. The food is cooked well. Its not too greasy and not too dry. Few cold spots and raw onions can be overlooked. BUT, the flavors are at best... Muted. Nonexistent. Not a single flat/fermented bean in the Chow Fun. There was by asian standards, no flavor in either of the dishes i ordered. Is the water bad in Fernley? Even my ice water was kinda... Off? If my food just had all the missing flavors, it would be 4 stars minimum. read more

The food is good. However, they are very sloppy with the containers they use for takeout orders. It's a huge mess when you open the bags. Just for that, I don't think i will be doing takeouts anymore. Did it twice here and it's the same huge sloppy mess every time. If someone is ordering food at home, that means they want minimal mess and virtually no cleanup. They just throw the food into all one bag. Juice dripping all over the other foods, sweet and sour sauce all on the inside of the bag. Just horrible! They really need to not be so cheap with their choice of containers. It's cheaper foam containers that leak and spill all over the place. Or at least use more bags. They overfill them cheap flimsy containers and the food spills out! Pretty hit or miss. When it's great, it's super great but when it's bad it's awful. The last visit I made the fried rice seemed kinda stale and the chicken was over fried. The service is great and boba drinks are very tasty. Overall, not the worst spot for when we don't feel like driving to Reno. read more

This is a lovely local restaurant. Clean, neat, modern and really nice outdoor seating in a garden setting - and I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal there. I tried my shrimp anyways and oh my gosh... worst thing I've tasted in a long time. The lettuce underneath was completely wet and soggy, and there was three canned pear pieces put in my to go plate for what? To fill up the fact my plate was filled half way? GROSS. Someone mentioned 'better than Panda Express'. I should hope so considering how expensive this place is compared to others in town. Not to mention, when paying for takeout, they solicit tips which I always give but never have been given suggestions for it on a checkout screen. Had Sesame Chicken. Sauce was wonderful, portions large. But, chicken seemed to be thigh meat and some pieces were very 'chewy'. Disappointed there. Also, most places include steamed rice with entrees. Service was alright. They weren't busy at all. They had plenty of servers so forgetting anything and making any mistakes like forgetting place mats and menus wasn't good service so far. The number one reason for this review was for the food. It made me sick! I had to rush home and make it to the bathroom before going in my pants. It reminded me of preheated food. Way to much sauce it over whelms the food and soaks up everything.Everyone working is very nice but that's not what will bring me back. I don't know why it took us so long to check this place out. It is our number one fav in Fernley. Friendly and fast service and the food tastes so good. We especially love the sesame chicken! While the sweet and sour isn't the best I've ever tasted, it definitely is the best I have tasted in the last decade or so. Their chow mein is a staple and their Mongolian beef is so tender and flavorful. Looking forward to branching out from our tried and true and seeing what other tasty treats Dragon City has. read more
