I love Panera. I go all the time. Today I went and the lady got my order wrong twice before she finally got what I wanted in the computer. I am vegan and have been for a while. I ordered the vegan quinoa bowl and she even said "the vegan one?" So I know she heard me and understood. I get the bowl and there's a giant egg floating in it??? I don't usually write reviews, but my experience was so terrible that my roommate talked me into it. So, we get to panera and order our food at the same time. My roommates food was out in 5 minutes, my order wasn't served until well after she was finished her meal. We ordered the same thing... I just hung out for 30 minutes while she ate. I finally get my food, which I asked to be boxed up for convenience sake, but when I arrived home, the soup was luke warm and my sandwich was soggy and only had chicken on half. I live less than 10 minutes away from the Jefferson location. I hate to ramble on about my awful experience, but watching someone eat, finish, then wait another 10 or so minutes sucks. read more

I was really glad that Panera had finally came to Baton Rouge. My first visit was disappointing. The girl that took my order got it wrong, she act like she didn't even want to be there. I had to take my order back when my husband brought it to me the manager did offer to let me take the wrong soup home which I refused since it was not what I ordered I then got my new one. I told the manager that I had eaten at a lot of Panera before and this was the dirtiest one I had ever been in. My husband ordered a turkey avocado blt and they did not even put the avocado on the sandwich. So disappointed! read more

It was a very long wait in the drive thru, thus a four star review instead of five. I ordered a Napa Chicken Salad Sandwich, even though I have never even tried chicken salad before (I got confused looking at the menu and ordered the first thing that I saw that was a sandwich). It was very messy to eat in the car, but darn!, that was an awesome sandwich! This is saying a lot because I'm a very picky eater and hate things like celery, mayo, tomatoes, all of which this sandwich had, yet it was sooo good. Sure I am going to ruffle up some Panera feathers here.... I don't mean to upset any loyal customers but I am baffled...I fail to see what anyone loves at Panera here in Baton Rouge. This is the only Panera I have ever visited. Been there four times. Dined in and carried out...The food I have sampled is plain and pretty tasteless and horribly overpriced. I don't have an elitist expectation or unreal expectations. Food for three people... no desserts or additional items always close to 50 to 60 dollars. Price does not matter to me if the food is good. Every visit I feel I have been taken advantage of and fooled by good advertising. Looking at the reviews listed here you either absolutely love Panera or really don't like it. My recent visit was typical Panera as I have experienced it.... Order was botched... food was bland... How can you mess up a BLT sandwich? First the bread was fresh but had no flavor. The tomato was mealey and so unripe that it was the same color as the bread. Four small strips of bacon that were less than two inches long and barely half an inch wide. Bacon was thin and tough like it was old and resembled beef jerky. The lettuce was like chopped salad lettuce and spread very light and sparingly on the sandwich. Every visit has been a disappointment. I try to give an establishment a fair shake and visit multiple times. I start fresh with my expectations each time. I don't enjoy giving an establishment a low review but I have never had anything at Panera that is worth ordering again or telling a friend about. On July 9, a Saturday evening , we stopped in for a light dinner of soup and salad . At first, we wondered if the restaurant was closed , as the parking lot was almost empty. Someone was at the drive through, which cued us that it was open. First of all, I must mention and compliment manager Chad Garcia on maintaining a very clean and inviting drink bar area at the rear of the store . In fact , when we finished eating , about 8:30 p.m,, I asked one of the workers if he would please summon the manager. When he came to speak to me, I introduced myself and complimented him on how clean the restaurant was.. Especially noting the area where self serve soft drinks, tea, ice dispenser etc. was in impeccable condition. I've been on many self serve style places, and kudos to Garcia and his staff for maintaining this for the public. I know it's not easy. ( my Dad owned restaurants in virginia... It's a difficult business) He explained that, during this particular time frame , the restaurant had not been overly busy,so the workers had been busy cleaning and prepping . I let him know that their hard work was noticed and appreciated . By the time we arrived , the workers , I'm sure, were tired. However , the young lady that greeted us was helpful and cheerful. She explained a few new menu items and her preferences . I ordered a bowl of broccoli with cheese soup and a salad (new on the menu). Though it is similar to a Cobb salad ( named in Cobb county, GA), it did lack a bit in flavor. I asked for extra dressing, and this did help. The salad was complimented by additional green goddess dressing . My dining partner had the classic chicken noodle soup with a chicken BBQ sandwich. He enjoyed this, but said that the BBQ wasn't smoked meat , but grilled chicken with BBQ sauce added to it.( I wasn't familiar with most of the menu) Though this wasn't a 5 star experience, as far as taste, the clean and well presented foods were filling and enjoyable. We live on the outskirts of town , and seldom get to eat at Panera bread because it's quite a distance from home. I plan to review other menu options for our next visit here. The soups we enjoyed more than our other choices , but to be honest , I have only been to a Panera bread when we are on a vacation and wanted breakfast. I do like the fact that they put the calorie counts up so you can compare options. I would have given this an extra star had we really enjoyed our total meal. Their tea is quite tasty, and I know they do a brisk business during breakfast and lunch. The staff here is top notch, starting at the top. If you know what to order or are familiar with Panera bread stores elsewhere, I think this place exceeds expectations for being organized and well tended. Tip your servers .. They are mostly college age students . Chad Garcia cares about customer service and he would get 5 stars for maintaining a clean and inviting restaurant ! read more

I am one of the super fans of Panera! How couldn't I be when it is super delicious and super fresh!!! Their bread collection always fascinates me and makes my stomach ask for more! :) my favorite dish is the soup bread bowl! Chicken noodle soup is the one to go with if you're a first timer! With time, explore more delicious varieties of soup. As for the panini sandwiches, I always go with the steak and white cheddar (without caramelized onions!). I spent 25.00 and like another review I didn't get what I ordered. The building is nice and the employees are friendly but not getting what I pay for is unacceptable. Called the restaurant the manager didn't apologize but said I could come back at any time. He clearly missed my point in stating that I shouldn't have to come back. The best part of this meal was the pickle and the chips, and well, they shorted me out of a bag a chips I paid for. I have come several times and each time I've said never again. I should have listened to myself. I ordered a steak and cheese panini that is dressed with onion and horseradish . The meat was cold and one piece of it was an inch plus thick. Onions and horseradish- there were some somewhere I'm sure because I could taste them, barely, but not easy to see. It seemed to have been just slap-dashed together with little care. This is my experience every time. I'm done. I might come by and buy a loaf of bread because I like their bread- that's what the 2 stars are for. The food is great but I'm giving only 2 stars because they change the menu too often and are beginning to replace long standing favorites with new seasonal Items and making those favorites only seasonal. Plus, they no longer have any other broth soups other than chicken noodle so the you pick two options for soups really suck now because they don't have good pairings. Newks doesn't have good sandwiches but they are killing Panera on the soup game. With Bewks popping up everywhere and Baton Rouge only having 1 location (which is mostly empty) you'd think they'd add to the menu instead of reducing it. Panera used to be my favorite but not so much anymore. Need more soup options. Mccallisters and Newks just took the lead. read more

The food and atmosphere is amazing, although a little pricey. I did notice something though, that really takes away from everything. The management. I was eating lunch just the other day and noticed, what Im assuming the manager, a lady rudely talking to one of their workers. The guy was a pretty fun worker, but the way she talked to him obviously took away just that. The worker was positive and upbeat, talked to every table in the dining room, and I really did not like the way the manager talked to him. Panera bread was one giant let down. There was so much hype about one FINALLY coming to Baton Rouge, so we ordered to go for our small medical practice and everyone's order was wrong except mine, but I was the only one who got pasta and it was cold and the cheese chunky and there were 3 small pieces of shredded pink chicken thrown in. I decided to go the next day and ordered breakfast a day in advance online to take to a referring physicians office. When I arrived, I was not greeted even though there was only one other person in mine but me and I waited what seemed like 10 minutes for the woman in front of me to get her order before they even acknowledged me, when I was finally helped, I was told this was not where I pick up to go orders, so I walked down a ways to where to young ladies kept throwing glances at me, but neither helped me or acknowledged me. I'm not the type to make a fuss, so I waited patiently. Finally, they asked me what I needed and I told them about my order and they said they didn't have it! Finally, when I got angry, they found my order with the catering orders, which it was, but I didn't know there was somewhere else to pick it up from. My visit would have been much more enjoyable had the staff been more helpful. The breakfast food presented well and the doctor's office staff seemed to enjoy it. read more

Adding to the saga. Good News: The corporate office agreed to extend the free Pick Two reward. Bad News: I ordered a "Rapid Pick-Up" online and went to the store. I asked the aforementioned manager where the pick-up area was and she pointed to the aisle toward the normal pick-up. And....the order was not there. 30 minutes later one of the kitchen supervisors asked my name because he noticed I had been waiting awhile. The another older unidentified gentleman, who was not wearing any Panera Bread identification, came out and stated that I "had already picked up the order". I replied that I was standing there for the past 30 minutes and never saw an order with my name on it placed on the shelf. Incredulously this older man tried to argue with me that I had already picked it up because the manager saw me. REALLY!! That is why I am standing here for 30 minutes waiting on my Rapid-Pick Up order?!?! Thankfully the kitchen supervisor made me another order.
