I agree the service isn't the best, the gentleman working the order register today was horrible. The lady working the food counter was wonderful. I have come to this location twice in the last 3 weeks around 4-5pm and the doors are locked and no one was operating the drive thru.... Strange! I placed an order online for a salad and a smoothie for my lunch today. I set the pickup time for 11:45. When I got there at 11:45, my smoothie was on the pickup table half melted but my food was not. I waited an additional 15 minutes for my food. I didn't mind too much because I know they're busy at lunch time. Whatever. I get back to my office, open up my salad, and immediately find three long black hairs buried under the pineapple and chicken. I was extremely disgusted. Then I went to pack the dressing cups back into the box because I was not going to eat the salad anymore when I found another long black hair in one of the dressing cups! The food preppers may not have to wear hair nets but if they have long hair it should at least be pulled back or pinned up. When I called Panera to let them know, the manager told me she was going to write down my name so that next time I came in my meal would be free. I was on hold for three minutes or so before someone picked up the phone and hung up. Ridiculous. After standing at the counter for about 10 minutes, an employee had to grab the manager to take my order. Said manager comes out of office with food in mouth, doesn't apologize for the wait, and then begins to tell me what I am wanting to order is on the kiosk. After finally listening, she realizes that just as I stated the sandwich I wanted was "off menu" as I told her. No apology, no let me get your name for your order, no upscale, nothing. Instead finishes my order and walks right back to the office to eat her food. Yes, this place is a chain but they have something I've been wanting in town for so long...a drive thru with great salad options. I certainly think going to a restaurant with a server and an extensive menu is a better over all experience, but that's not what Panera is about. I've been to this location twice, once inside for a sit down experience and again through the drive thru. For my sit down, I knew by passing by that I needed to get here early so I met a friend at 11:30 and we barely had a wait in line to order. We found a table for two easily.** Our food was delivered much more quickly that I expected by looking at the number of people in the restaurant. I had a half salad, Strawberry Poppyseed, and half sandwich, Bacon Turkey Bravo. Both were very tasty..the salad had plenty ot chicken and fruit with the perfect amount of dressing and the sandwich was on some of the best bread I've ever tasted. On my next visit, I was in a rush and decided to order at the drive thru. The wait was obviously a little longer than your typical fast food drive thru but I expected that going in. I again ordered a half salad, Fuji Apple, and half sandiwch, Tuna Salad. The salad was amazing!! The apple chips and gorganzola cheese were perfection together. The sandwich was sad though. I will not be ordering this one again. There was barely any tuna salad on the bread and probably more lettuce than anything. If you set your expectations in the right direction, this place cannot disappoint and I see improving over time when the "new" wears off. **Side Note...if you are a party of one or two in a crowded restaurant, don't take up a table for four or eight people so you have a chair for your purse. My friend and I noticed a party of two get up from their 2-person table to move to a 4-person table in the middle of a lunch rush. Initially, I thought "Oh, they have people meeting them"...NOPE, they just wanted to put their purses in chairs. Meanwhile, people were standing around looking for a table large enough for their party of four. This may only be the case since the place is new and is still getting slammed, but one would hope management would staff appropriately to compensate for that. Glad to see Panera in Baton Rouge. They were a favorite of mine when I lived in South Carolina. Hubby and I stopped in the Jefferson Highway location last week for a late lunch. It was after 2 so there was no crowd, just a couple of other tables besides ours. Our food was great, consistent with other Paneras. I love the 99 cent add on for dessert and usually get the Carrot Cake! It was great. I had a Caesar Salad and the Broccoli Soup! Panera Bread is a chain. Sure that's stating the obvious but I feel it necessary to define the bar they're being measured against. There's is only so much you can expect from a "fast casual" restaurant with a large menu. I mean honestly at the end of the day it's just a chain. That being said Baton Rouge desperately more "healthy" options to eat on the go. Places that are relatively accessible, well staffed and reasonably priced. Thankfully we now have something else that fits the bill with Panera Bread. Most of their menu items are premade or shipped [pre made soups, frozen dough etc etc etc] However, everything (generally speaking) taste great. The menu is mainly comprised of bagels, pastries, soups, salads and sandwiches. Notice anything about that list? Nothing is deep fried.. Meaning you won't be goose necking at work after lunch. All around aces. Now they essentially just opened and I can definitely tell there is a slight lack of synergy amongst the staff ie: be prepared to wait a while for that bagel and coffee if you're going through the drive through. This of course should mend itself over time and I fully expect it will. All in all. Not bad for the new chain on the block. read more

This is my go to spot when I'm not sure what I want to eat. Salads, sandwhichs, soups, pastas, and baked goods. Everything on the menu is worth it. I usually choose a "Pick 2" option that allows me to select from a variety of sandwhichs, soups, salads (etc). The staff are always friendly and fast and willing to offer their suggestions on menu items. The place is always clean and I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my food even when the line is out of the door. Food is fresh and food temperatures are always accurate. Traveling from San Antonio, TX to Mobile, AL this was our quick healthy dinner stop! My two teenagers and I stretched our legs, used the restrooms and ordered the pick two. All of us had 1/2 sandwich, soup and 1 salad. I order was completed fast and the cashier and cooks were friendly. I was pleasantly surprised that they listed calories and had a wide variety. I settled on the "pick 2" sandwich/soup combo option about $8, not bad. I chose the holiday option of Turkey & Cranberry flatbread with autumn and squash soup which was very good. It comes with a roll and they asked if this was ok so I told them I didn't really care to have a roll. I wasn't expecting an alternative but the cashier named some other options and I chose the apple :) I was very happy and I will return another day. I don't give reviews like this often but I truly felt disrespected here. I used to come all the time but more recently, I have e experienced horrible customer service on more than one occasion. I have been delivered two wrong orders and even after contacting customer care all they told me was they would talk to the cafe. They did not even offer me my correct order. Poor service. Poor management. Mistakes happen but they would not even try to fix the mistake. I have seen better from them but this location is one I will be staying away from for sure. read more

Fresh and healthy compared to so many other choices. I love the chipotle chicken avocado panini. And the French onion soup is a great compliment to any of the sandwiches. They have fresh baked breads as well. The food is very good and filling. I enjoy coming here, I feel like I'm getting a treat from the ordinary lunch places. It's a clean and happy environment. It gets crowded during lunch which tells me that others enjoy it too. Great place to have a sit down lunch. The food was great - I had the chipotle chicken avocado melt sandwich this time. But, unfortunately the cashier didn't ask what side I wanted with my meal, and I didn't find out till it came out. I love the chips, but this time I was in the mood for the soft dinner roll... Or maybe I would have wanted a fresh apple! Who knows? Not her, because she didn't ask. My fiancé ordered his usual, the bacon turkey bravo, along with broccoli cheddar soup. He got it in the bread bowl this time, which I think everyone should try! While we were getting our drinks we realized they were out of covers for every other sized cup except for the large ones. And a visit to the bathroom revealed a not so clean space, that didn't even have automatic hand towel dispensers so you're forced to touch things... I'd be okay with it not being in pristine shape if I didn't have to touch anything, but the lack of the automated towel dispensers added insult to injury. read more
