Over the years Panera lost Much of their pastries and breads even their coffee has declined, but I still go there for their club sandwich on sourdough and chicken noodle soup. The best combination! This was my first time ordering breakfast at a Panera and I was very disappointed with my food. I ordered ham egg and cheese ciabatta bread breakfast sandwich on the app for pickup. I wanted to add more protein so I paid $1.19 extra for egg whites thinking that would be in addition to the "folded scrambled egg" that was already included in the sandwich. I also wanted to add some arugula and tomatoes to bulk up my sandwich, but they were out of stock at this location. My order status in the app said ready for about 5 minutes, but I didn't find it on the shelf. I did eventually spot my order sitting in the service window, but I didn't want to be rude or enter a restricted area to grab it so I sat there awkwardly until the cashier was free. I had ordered a drink as well and had to request my cup because apparently they don't include that in your pick up order. My sandwich came with two tiny slices of ham and the thinnest layer of egg white I've ever seen. No scrambled egg. There was an adequate amount of cheese but the sandwich was mostly bread which I probably should've expected so nice it's Panera bread. Id rather have saved some money on a premade packaged microwaved breakfast sandwich from Starbucks that comes with twice the ingredients. I waited in the line again to request the folded egg and the cashier was very professional and accommodating but breakfast had ended while I was waiting in line, and they had already gotten rid of all the eggs. They did offer me a pastry or some extra meat which I appreciated. There was only one person working the counter so maybe there was a staffing issue today. The experience would've been improved with better staffing especially while they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch. lesson learned: breakfast at Panera is a miss. Also, if you place an order for pickup that includes a self service drink, be aware that you will still need to wait in line to request a cup. So placing a pick up order online isn't a more efficient way of ordering and your food is probably getting cold while you're waiting in line for your cup. The locations ambience was very clean, cool, and bright inside. The back room that used to be a safe was probably 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the restaurant and felt great! read more

I placed a catering order a week in advance at this Bellingham location. The menu selections are very accommodating to all dietary preferences within the office. If you're hosting a group of 5 or more I definitely recommend planning ahead to place a catering verses a rapid pick up order. There was virtually no customer service outside of yielding the customer their order. I always liked Panera Bread. C and I came here on a Thursday. We knew there was a Panera Bread that opened up near us. I got the dual tomato soup with 1/2 smoked bbq chicken sandwich. The sandwich was super delicious. The soup was really nice and creamy. It really hit the spot. I left the house in a rush that I didn't even have lunch so Panera bread was perfect since it was also on the way to where we were heading at that time. When you walk in, you place your order at the kiosk or you can head up to the counter. The restaurant has limited seating. They have a very interesting seating area inside the vault where there are some tables and chair. The drinks are laid out on the side of the restaurant. The place is pretty much self serve. The order took about 8 mins for them to prepare which was not bad. Free parking is available outside. Note that if you come on a Tuesday they have a dozen bagel for $10.99 (they call it the baker dozen special). I will be back for sure. read more

It has been a while since I last had something from Panera Bread. I'm glad this outlet opened up at Sunset Square as I come here often. You can place order at the kiosk by the entrance or go straight to the counter. The kiosk works for me as I need to refresh my memory on what they have and the choices are very wide! You can also order on the app or online if both are busy. I do like what they have here. From soups, sandwiches and salads to warm bowls and bakery items. On a cold day, soup is perfect. I ordered the French onion soup and it came with a piece of baguette. It was delicious! The soup is not as cheesy as some places where it is baked warm in the oven but it is still very flavorful. All the soup selections are very tempting, I'll have to come here again to try them all. Parking is available in the lot. There is a drive through too. Service is excellent. The staff offered to bring my tray to my table. I think I must have looked quite weak/unwell that day. read more

Well I was excited for grand opening. Then the inside pickup was 15 minutes behind, finally got the order and got order home very quickly and the food was ice cold. Wrong sandwich in order also was another problem. they have a "quality check" in the process of waiting that I'm laughing at because it was not even correct. If I could leave zero stars for my review I surely would. This location has TOO many issues and employees with poor customer service etiquette. For many years our family would travel down to Skagit Co. to visit the Burlington location, we were so excited to hear that Bellingham would finally be getting our own Panera that excitement fizzled out very quickly. I decided to use my Panera app to place a rapid pick up order today and opted to pick the order up through their drive thru as it was one of the options given. The drive thru line is a joke! They have two lanes, one for customers who are needing to place their order at the menu board and another lane for customers who've placed their orders online..but the two lanes eventually are suppose to "merge" into what? Who the hell knows. The customers who just placed their orders have no clue why another vehicle is supposedly trying to signal to come in front of them in the line. So the customers on the RPU lane like myself today, had to just sit and yield to all of the oncoming cars who wouldn't budge to let one car through. When we got to the window we were "greeted" by a young gal who didn't even make eye contact with us but instead started rattling off the screen her eyes were glued to. She mentioned another customers name and started to repeat what they had ordered back to us. I told her that we had placed an online order and she looked very confused, we asked for a manager while we waited for them to bag up our order. Sasha came to the window (who we now have come to find out is their General Manager at this location). We told her that we would like to share our feedback on their RPU drive thru lane and how it isn't conducive at their location. Her response was dry and not empathetic at all! All she ended up saying was "We know. It's not working like we had hoped, we hoped that we would have some sort of speaker box installer so we're able to direct traffic. But we are the only cafe that's using this design, so we know." No apology or anything for the inconvenience. Drove off from the window and pulled over to check my order to find that they had not included any napkins and just tossed the order in there and that my large papaya green tea was only 3 quarters of the way filled up. After leaving Bellingham, I decided to take a sip of my green tea to find that it was carbonated and turned out to be Mountain Dew. What in the world!? Either they have employees who cannot read orders correctly or they were being ignorant because we had asked to speak with a manager. I decided to call the location directly, Pearla answered the phone and I asked if they had any other managers on duty tonight besides Sasha. She responded saying yes, we have Bradley, Abby, and one other female name. I requested to speak to someone that is above Sasha in management and guess who picked up my call? Good 'Ol SASHA! I immediately told her that I would like to speak to another manager about my experience and that I had specifically asked not to speak with her again. She was rude, curt and asked for my name then proceeded to place me on hold. After a few minutes of being on hold Bradley picks up the call and I explained to him in detail about our experience at the location and he finally apologized. He also chalked it up to the fact that "we have a lot of employees where this is their first job so we're definitely trying to work through things". I can understand to an extent that you're still training new hires but my goodness does it have to be at the expense of a paying customer!? He also decided to chime in and say that even though I opted to use their RPU drive thru option that I can choose to park in front of their store to come down and pick up my order quicker..he completely missed my point. If a customer opts and chooses to use the drive thru, it's purely for convenience which is obviously a concept this location has failed to understand. He informed me that he is lower on the management tier than Sasha and apologized for her having an attitude. I told him that I will escalate this matter because with Sasha in charge this location is surely doomed! I had to request for a refund for my order, NO manager had even offered a solution. Unbelievable! We will see if they can manage this. I will be making the commute back down to Burlington from here on out. read more

I use to go to Panera in So Calif. Bellingham is nothing like the old ones! Not only have the menus changed but the bear class are half the size. But the real problem is that "everything" is new. Generally, their food is served hot and is good. I have not been to the other Panera Bread locations however I've heard that this one is very basic and is almost set up like a cafeteria. I would agree with that sometimes they're organized and sometimes they're disorganized sometimes the coffee is empty so they have to go make more! We knew that Panera Bread had poor reviews but decided to try it anyway. We split a chicken/avaocado/cheese/bacon/tomato/lettuce and bacon sandwich. The bacon was fatty and limp, chicken almost inedible, and bread that we did not care for. If there was supposed to be a choice of bread, we didn't get the choice. Servers forgot the container for the soft drink - had to go back. Asked for the dressing on the side - did not get any utensil to use to spread it on the bread. Small quantity of food, mediocre and not worth the cost, and the online ordering system did a bait and switch promising $5 off my order which would be automatically applied and it wasn't, though it qualified. Instead of simply refunding it when I asked, customer service kept trying to sell me on a credit to a future order, saying it would take 15-30 DAYS to refund (never heard of such a thing in all my years in customer service). This is only the second time I have ever been to Panera and it is very unclear where / how one can order. There are help yourself kiosks or you have the option of ordering at the counter. The kiosks to order are right inside the door and if you want to order at the counter it is at the opposite end from where you walk in. We received no direction after we placed the order, I had no idea we could have gotten our drinks or if I had to stand up front and wait or do they bring it out?? Just had to wait and find out. You do have to listen for your name and grab your food. I got the Baja bowl with bread it was very good perfect amount of each ingredient and the bread is so fresh and yummy. We got the kids grilled cheese with a sliced apple which is an actual whole apple sliced, awesome. Another person got the 1/2 Asian salad and also stated everything tasted fresh and it had the right amount of each ingredient. The other person in the party got the steak and white cheddar sandwhich and said it was good the bread made the difference. We all got pastries with our meals but have not eaten them yet as we didn't have room but they sure look good. Not sure it was worth $70 for 3 people and a child but it was good. Tried to feed my 92 year old mother after a long day in Seattle so we ordered her a sandwich by phone and attempted to drive thru to pick it up. We waited so long in a line that didn't move we backed out and went inside to get her tuna sandwich. The staff was unfriendly and ignored us. We finally got her sandwich and she took it home. She reported today that it was inedible. It was soaking wet and all the ingredients were loose in the bag..... almost felt like it was purposely sabotaged. I was finally near this new Panera location and was eager to try it out. The high prices immediately stood out. I had hoped to order a You Pick Two combo, but the pricing for soup and sandwich combos was coming out to $17 - $18. I settled on a $10 almond chicken salad sandwich and what I received was little meat and mostly dry sourdough bread. The kiosk also hit me up for a tip, which is quite rich when everything is self-serve including clean up. I said something to the manager about the sandwich and the young woman was apathetic. All the kids working there were either having a social hour and/or rotting on their phones. My gut is telling me this location won't last and my friends said they had the same rotten experience. Used the Panera app to order food in advance. It took 1 hr and 6 minutes to get my food from the time I got in line until the time I finally got my food. (I had ordered about 40 minutes prior to getting to the restaurant.) The Rapid Pickup line merged with the regular drive thru lane, so there's little to no value in pre-ordering. By the time I got my food (soup) it was barely lukewarm. I understand that the business needs to iron out their issues, but this was really bad. They should have turned off the app, or found a way to let people know there would be a massive delay. When I picked up my food, the rep didn't bother to apologize for the wait. read more

To start the restaurant is very dirty. Every table had dirty dishes as well. The staff is rude and not helpful. I ordered a sandwich with chips and they told me they just ran out of chips and offered me another piece of bread (stupid offfer, here have some bread with your sandwich) or an apple. I don't eat either, and ask what else I could have and the girl looked at me like I was speaking another language and just walked away. I asked to speak to a manager, the manager never came out to speak with me. The food is just ok, nothing special and very expensive. Half sandwich and soup and bottled drink almost $19. The soup was french onion, it was both with a few onions floating and some thin shredded cheese. Not worth the money and the service lacks. Yikes! The chicken broccoli bowl I paid $15 for after tax. It was comical, rice not cooked thoroughly either. Very dry. Small portion. See picture before I ate any. Haven't had too much of the menu for this specific location but their bagels are not what you expect from a Panera. First time I went I spent an hour and a half in the drive thru. I understand that it's new and processes are being learned but that was excessive. And on top of it, the person in front of me got a free cookie for the wait from the cashier but didn't offer me one. Kind of disheartening when you wait that long for a single bagel that they could've just brought out the moment I ordered it. Other things I noticed were a lot of corporate looking employees that were just standing around doing nothing while all the teenagers were stressed out of their mind. We walked into Panera's new Bellingham, WA restaurant on Saturday, September 16 around 6 PM. Dani greeted us pleasantly at the counter, right away, and took our order in an accurate but a humorous and good-natured way. Then she made a point of checking to make sure that a particular kind of bread was still in good supply. Later, she went out of her way to come check on us, to see that everything was as we wanted it. Then she went to get what I requested, and brought it to me. Dani's customer service was excellent, so far beyond "2nd mile service" she couldn't even see the 2nd mile from where she was. We have appreciated Panera for years, but appreciate it even more now because of Dani. read more

The line to Taco Bell was way long, so we decided to try Panera Bread instead. Zero waiting time, which made us a tad nervous, but we were still excited to try this new "fast food" option. So we ordered our food from the drive thru speaker and continued onto the pickup window. Had to adjust our order after learning they were out of more than a few menu items. And we waited. And waited. And waited. What seemed like 20 minutes later, we finally get our food. So why am I giving them 4 out of 5 stars? The food was outstanding. Seriously the best meal I've had in a long time. Yes, it cost twice as much as Taco Bell would have. But there was no contest when it came to the ingredients they used. There was a mix of delicious greens in my Cobb salad including arugula. The green goddess dressing was the perfect compliment to the salad. The chicken burger had the most delicious bun and the chicken was a thick piece of juicy breast meat. The flatbread pizza had the best pepperoni and cheese on it. Our iced raspberry lemonade slushies tasted like they were made with fresh fruit. read more

I don't understand why anyone would go here a second time .I ordered a half Chicken avocado southwest sandwich. It was just over ten dollars. It was small with a few chunks of chicken and two small avocado slices. It was edible but nothing I would eat again, especially at that price. There are so many better sandwich options in Bellingham.
