Terrible drive-thru experience. We ordered ahead and arrived five minutes after receiving the "ready for pickup" notification. There was only one car ahead of us in the drive-thru, yet we waited 12 minutes for them to order and receive their food. Once in line, there's no way to exit, so going inside to grab your order isn't an option. There are designated parking spots for mobile orders at the end of the drive-thru, and the staff could've easily asked the car ahead to pull into one to avoid holding up the line--but they didn't. Panera is no longer Panera Bread anymore. Over twelve years ago, it was a joy to have one in your neighborhood where you can walk in to the warm aromatics of focaccia or their heavenly tomato basil bread before you could set your eyes on a decadent buffet of fresh pastries. Nope. Not anymore. Now when I walk in, my nostrils are struck largely with the scent of strong cleaning products that oddly is like the products that a local hospital uses. While that could be comforting, I don't want to feel like I'm getting a clinical patient experience, but a satisfyingly relaxing experience. The seats aren't comfortable. They're just cheap and the service is getting more impersonal and ignorant while demanding more in price for the lack of service before hardly keeping up on stock. For a weekend, I can barely get croissants. Two stars because at this location, orders are relatively consistent but just feels plain weird now since they branched into pizza and subs, neither of which can hold much a candle to their signature soups, salads and sandwiches. And if you're ordering pickup, be prepared to pay with a card. I was not, only had cash, and was basically told, with a very callous attitude, that it's "not my problem, go starve." Desperately trying to find food in the area while on a brief break from a long drive. This particular Panera Bread has a drive-thru window that didn't have much of a line on a Thursday afternoon. While driving up, noticed that they don't have the regular menu until you get all the way up to the ordering kiosk. Quickly settled on the Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($8) and an Iced Tea ($2ish). Food is delivered to the car in about 8 minutes - with the sandwich being easily tear-able into two parts (for those who want the half-sandwich option). Bread is toasted nicely, albeit greasy, sandwiching the marinated chicken, cheese, and some greens. Basic but overall filling sandwich, good amount of BBQ sauce without sacrificing the integrity of the bread. Both the person taking the order and delivery staff did a solid job. For the next three days I was in my bed all day just getting up to use the bathroom. First two days I couldn't eat anything at all. Today is the first day I'm finally feeling good enough to be up and about for a while, so I'm coming to leave this review. Whatever part of your food safety process failed, whether someone wasn't wearing plastic gloves while preparing the food and didn't wash their hands, or you were using bad tuna or lettuce, it doesn't matter. It shouldn't have happened. Corners got cut somewhere and I got the sickest I've been in 5+ years because of it. I'll never be returning to this store. Actually, just all Panera locations now. I used to love Panera, but the quality continues to decline with the portion sizes as the prices go up. This particular Panera is always clean and the staff are wonderful. I was greeted with a smile and the food was ready quickly. Sadly, the last time we came my son ordered chicken noodle soup in a bread bowl. We got the soup and there was nothing but broth in the bread bowl. Not a single noodle or piece of chicken. I brought it back and they got him a new one but it obviously wasn't done heating because it was barely lukewarm. We weren't able to wait for another remake so he ate it and we left. That night he was violently sick. I can't be sure it was the soup but it was the only food he ate all day. Today U went in for a simple bagel. I got it and it was cut like this. Seriously, I could barely bite through the huge ball of bread on one side and the other side was so thin it was practically burnt. It was not good at all. OMG! The absolute slowest drive thru on Earth! In over a year I have only witnessed one car ever being parked to have the food brought out when complete! 20+ minutes for 2 iced teas is unacceptable and once you're in the line you can't get out if it, due to the way it was constructed. By the time you reach the window the ice in your drink is melted IF it's ready at all! Ask for a cup of ice, get a half full small cup! If not for the sip club I would avoid this place at all cost! But when you're driving from Cleveland, Ohio to Allentown, PA, this Panera is a beacon of health"ier" options along your route. We are fans of Panera and this is undoubtedly one of the best places to stop along a very long stretch of I-80 across Pennsylvania. In fact, we time our trips so that we hit exit 232 around lunchtime. Our experience is that this particular Panera is up to the standard of the chain's other locations, which I find to be very good. We have found it to be clean, the staff to be friendly, and the food to be well prepared. So I am puzzled that others say that they have had a less than satisfactory experience. The quality of the food is much better than other competing chains and it's the reason that competitors such as Friendly's are having so much trouble -- never mind the low quality of the "fast food" burger, pizza and chicken competitors. read more

My brother-in-law's tuna sandwich consisted of onion, tomato, lettuce, and a tablespoon of tuna salad. My panini was burnt on one side. Unfortunately I didn't notice that until I bit into it and got a mouthful of black. Yuk! I took it back and I replaced it with the Fuji Chicken Salad. I asked for dressing on the side and no onions.
