Came here recently being in the area. The restaurant was set up just like all others with the gift shop in the front requiring you to pass on through before getting to the seating area. We were seated quickly for lunch on a weekday and it was not jam-packed. Our waitress was friendly and on top of everything. I felt the kitchen was a bit slow with the orders but all our meals were fine. My catfish was grilled well and not overdone. The hash brown casserole was meh. Carrots were good. My wife's salad with chicken fingers had crisp greens and some cherry tomatoes. The chicken fingers had too much breading. Kid's breakfast meal went fast. The biscuits we each had were tasty. Stopped by this location on our way back from the PSU game because it was right off the highway but also further from state college which can have a long wait on game weekend. We arrived on 1PM and were seated after a short 5 minute wait. I ordered the country fried steak, with sides of dumplins and hash brown casserole while the boyfriend had the pancake tacos. We ordered biscuits to start. Food was fresh and came quick. We were in and out in an hour and eventually back on the road. Overall, would definitely stop by this location next time at state college due to having no wait times and also a pretty convenient location. Got take out yesterday. I was really looking forward to the chicken n dumplings but what a disappointment. I ordered mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of dumplings for my 2 sides. The potatoes had the concitancy of glue, very little gravy. The dumpling were not flat as they should be but we're clumped together like dough balls and as far as the chicken ,there was 2 small pieces in the meal. This Cracker Barrel has gone down hill, maybe they need to replace the cooks. If I was in the restaurant and served this I would have sent it back, since it was take out it wasn't worth the 15 to 20 minute drive to return it. read more

We had early dinner on 7/26, while returning back from Chicago. The store was not crowded but our table was assigned a trainee with no supervision. If it was not to the fact that the food is consistently great quality, i would not give them 2 star review. While the service was delayed, it was the trainee's first day, nobody was supervising his tables, and the table was never really properly set for 6 people. I start by saying that a successful business depends on its frontline workers and as such training and supervision are key metrics to insure the servers are taking care of the customer needs, setting up tables for successful service and that they understand the menu. We sat in a table that had no water, cutlery , had to wait about 20 minutes to get acknowledged and the wait for the food was about 45 in a day that only 1/3 of the floor was on full use. I get the fact restaurant cannot fond staff to work for them. It is important for Management to show appreciation and acknowledge those servers working and performing to standards when taking care of the guest. Training is important but management needs to keep track of what a trainee is doing well, what he missed and insure the person who is in training is set for success. While we were happy to assist the poor waiter who was in his first day of work, I believe management did a poor job in making sure the server was ready for service, not falling behind and informing the table of the delay with the food. Our orders were breakfast for dinner 3 orders of pancakes, eggs, with the exception of my mother in law who wanted the roast beef platter and my brother in law who ordered chicken for him and chicken pot pie for his wife. This was my first time at a Cracker Barrel and I was impressed. If you're on the road and want to have a sit-down meal, it's not a bad option at all. Our waitress was so friendly and personable. X had their fried chicken and his portion size was insane. We both ended up taking food home with us. We split the Chocolate Fudge Cake and it was so good. Party of 15 had an awful experience. Location had no pot roast or pot roast containing items. They had no chicken noodle soup and most of our sides with our meals were wrong. We were also given no cornbread, only biscuits. The bill was to be slip between 3 persons. This created an even bigger nightmare! After waiting over 30 minutes to pay our bills we were told one person would have to pay the bill and everyone could give that person the money. The majority of people were planning to pay with cards. This fiasco caused us to miss our planned event after our dinner. This dinner was to celebrate my marriage an hour prior. The store offered nothing to our party for any of this. Our bill was well over $200. The company sent me a free meal coupon after sending a complaint. WoW! Please don't show your concern over your companies issues next time! What about the other 14 people this affected?? Thank for a horrible meal and experience after my special day. The pop is on the same shelf as the other locations as well in the cooler by the register. Yummy chocolates and candies are proudly on display. I'm seated and they have a special iced tea. We had been traveling for quite a few hours and we were in need of a meal to sustain us for the rest of our trip. We decided that we didn't want to make a long stop and agreed Cracker Barrel would be a good choice to grab something decent to eat, be done fairly quickly and they're usually close to the highway exits. We arrived at this Cracker Barrel and it was the 2nd day open after closing for coronavirus. They had the hostess set up outside by the front door and we were quickly sent in to be seated. The tables were set up so every other table was left empty and all the staff wore face masks. We ordered our dinners and thankfully it wasn't busy at all and we were served our dinners in no time at all. Traveling coast to coast by auto, I have come to appreciate Cracker Barrel. I look forward to the opportunity of looking through the general store, clean restrooms, and good comfort foods. I found myself on the road again none other than Thanksgiving Day. I was a little afraid I would be reduced to convenience store snacks to get through the many miles ahead of me that day. I was pleased to discover Cracker Barrel was open and serving the traditional meal. Although they weren't offering a full menu, I was ecstatic that I would not be eating packaged snacks for Thanksgiving. I wasn't the only one on the road, hoping for a shining light of goodness. Never disappointed when we come here. Friendly service, great prices for the amount and quality of food. Good homestyle food that makes me want to try everything on the menu. I had the spicy grilled catfish, glazed carrots, kale salad, and turnip greens, all of which were amazing! The catfish was excellently seasoned, carrots were sweet and kept me going back for more, and the kale salad could've been a meal of it's own. My boyfriend got the chicken pot pie, broccoli, and carrots. He reported the chicken pot pie was creamy and very filling, the carrots were sweet and delicious, and the broccoli was nothing too special. While my girlfriend and I were traveling on a road trip to Ohio, we stopped at this Cracker Barrel location in Bloomsburg PA. Cracker Barrel just felt like the perfect breakfast place to have before starting a long road trip. Plus we both were in the mood to try it out. This would be my first time here, whereas my girlfriend was here once before. We arrived nice and early and was able to get seated right away. They had a nice decor setup for their establishment. The menu was full of lots of good items it looked like, but we decided to stick to breakfast items only to try. We ordered 2 of there more popular dishes. The Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast and Grandma's Sampler. The country fried steak was amazing, as well as the biscuits in gravy. With the sides of eggs, hashbrown, and grits, it's the perfect breakfast combo. Their pancakes were fluffy and flavorful as well. I enjoyed them. The meat sampler of bacon, sausage, and ham were pretty tasty too. It's a solid 3.5 stars that I'll bump to the 4 because the service really was super friendly. The menu is exactly what you expect from Cracker Barrel....they have their own fried chicken, meatloaf, etc...and they give a really good deal if you go for lunch (6.99 and it is far better than any other fast food for the equivalent price). I wouldn't go here expecting a meal you'd want if you were having your last one on death row, but it solid and fair priced for whatever you get on the menu. We had meatloaf, salad with chicken on it, steak with sides, and a hamburger. Everyone was happy and satisfied...and we all ate with drinks for about $50...we utilized the specials mentioned above. My Chicken Fried Steak was soft and pounded nicely. Crunchy coat. The cook was good but the white gelatin gravy was just that, like jello. Mash potato brown gravy, and corn was nice and hot. I also had another side of broccoli, too bad it can't be Fresh steamed, rather than Frozen steamed. Biscuits were soft and warm with butter and jelly, delicious. The other dishes on the table had the same remarks. The general store had all kinds of interesting stuff from Halloween to Christmas to clothing. Penn State? Is that a good school? When you first walk in there's a homey gift shop with cool items that range which is very interesting. When you're sat down the atmosphere is very southern along with a running fire place. The service was great and food was good. I ordered maple glazed chicken with the maple glaze on the side with a side of fries and Mac n cheese which all tasted great. My boyfriend ordered a steak burger with gravy and onions on top which was good but we expected an actual burger instead of a patty with no bun or lettuce. Arrived at this Cracker Barrel before the Saturday breakfast crowd, around 9:20am. We asked our hostess to be seated next to an outlet (my phone was dead) and she was able to find one. The waitress we had was sweet and the service was great. My dad ordered a coffee and it never went empty. I ordered the Uncle Hershel's and chose my meat as chicken tenders - yes you can get these at 9:20 am! My dad ordered the Mama's pancake breakfast ($12). My dish was $11 and arrived with 2 eggs (I chose over medium but they come any way you like) plus a square of hashbrown casserole and grits, gravy, and 2 biscuits. A ton of food! My dad requested his bacon extra crispy and that was perfect as well. He loved the extra fluffy pancakes and they are filling. Because I'm a born and bred Midwesterner, I asked our waitress to please bring ranch and hot sauce with my meal. She brought it out the minute we had our drinks, because she didn't want to forget. Our waitress, Savannah, was very nice. I'm also trying to be nice but the food here tastes like they heated it in a metal pan in the microwave. The sausage gravy was entirely too much of a fake smoke flavor, it completely overwhelmed the sausage. The grits were very bland. The country ham was extremely salty. I will say the biscuits were warm, soft, and tasted fresh. I LOVE cracker barrel and it's usually my go-to when we go out. Today was a rare but really bad night. We got started relatively quickly and got drinks (even though some of the drinks on the menu are discontinued ) Food took FOREVER and came out cold, chicken was soggy, etc. We eat pretty quickly because we'd been there so long that the kids were getting fussy (2 hours from seating to leaving). It wasn't even busy, plenty of open tables... Obviously not including the "social distance" tables.
