Panera is one of the only "fast food" places that you can find several salad options. They have a few different options to choose from. You will find more than your average Cobb salad to choose from. The service can be pretty slow at time. It's hit or miss. That's why I didn't give 5 stars. Sometimes the drive through even takes longer than what you would expect. If you are ever on the go and want something on the healthier side, I would definitely recommend Panera. I never realized how versatile their menu was. read more

Panera used to be great- good food, great ambiance, nutritious menu. It's completely gone downhill. Won't ever get another Caesar salad- it's full of hunks of stalks with very little lettuce. Tonight they ran out of bread bowls. I understand it was 7:30pm. However, they were out of potato chips. I ordered French onion soup. It did not resemble the photo. This has gotta be the WORST Panera in the USA!!! And I have tried many locations in many states since I am a business man and travel a lot for work. And I have always thought very highly of Panera. NOT ANY MORE!!!! I stopped at this Panera in Bluffton, SC drive thru last night for a very simple meal. My receipt is even attached!! I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, a small Caesar salad, and a large Thai chicken salad. Simple right?? No way!! First of all, it took forever to get me these 3 simple items. But once I left the drive thru, this is where it really all began. I arrived home only to find out that my Caesar salad wasn't in the bag. Plus my 2 baguettes were not in the bag as well. However, I did get 5 bags of potato chips and something that may have been a pasta salad - both of which I did not order or want. So I had to go back to Panera, ask for the manager and complain that I did not receive my Caesar salad or baguettes. The manager did not seem to care at all. No "I'm sorry", no discount or free drink while I waited, no words of encouragement or even the slightest sign that this would not happen again. She simply continued to praise and commend her incompetent employees. And guess what? After I got home the 2nd time, I opened up my Caesar salad and it was now a "CHICKEN" Caesar salad. So they still got it wrong. Good luck to the management at this location! After the owner and managers go home at 5 or 6 pm, the employees here are out of control giving away 5 bags of potato chips, pasta salad, and "free chicken" on salads. And the evening manager just doesn't give a crap! By the looks of things at this location,my guess is they can't read and they "no habla"!!! GOOD LUCK!!! Just got back from drive thru at Panera Bread North Myrtle Beach, SC. Wife was sick and wanted some good old Chicken Noddle soup for her cold. We opened the container and sure enough all that was there was a tiny bit of chicken and a few noodles and all broth. I knew something was astray when I looked in the window when we placed the order and they were tipping the container with the soup over my cup to try and get every little bit out of the bottom of the container. Shame on you. How would like it to pay for something and get little or inferior quality in return. I am crossing off this Panera Bread store as a under achieving customer service restaurant and will go elsewhere for my real homemade Chicken Soup. Goodbye read more

Here is what I posted on Panera's customer service feedback web: Our last visit is exactly that: our last. A recurring issue at this location is a shortage of bread bowls. This has occurred during our previous five visits. I can understand running out occasionally, but this seems excessive. A more serious and disturbing issue is the manager's response when an admittedly annoyed customer brought this observation up. He came across as defensive and not particularly caring, dismissing it as simply bad timing. Don't give me the excuse that a bunch of teenagers or a bus load of seniors disembarked. I'm not sure how the store consumable forecasting process works, but this location needs to review it. 10 minutes later, the manager did attempt to assuage our discontent by giving us 3 end of day bakery items. But again, the gesture felt hollow and insincere, with more defensive posturing. To compound the situation, our alternative selection, the steak white cheddar came loaded with onions, an element not highlighted on the board. To the cashiers credit, she did have them redo the sandwich sans onions. I would strongly suggest a refresher course for management on how to deal with customer service issues with an emphasis on role playing. However, any remediation steps will be too late for us. We won't darken this restaurants door any longer. read more

Have been to many Paneras around the country. This one ranks among the worst. After a long wait to be waited on we had another long wait for food. The whole restaurant is set up weird. You enter in a door to a confusing wait line. When trying to exit you have to cut through the waiting line. The small 1/2 power salad was drenched in dressing. I'm guessing there were 6-8 small spinach leaves. I think I am done with this salad because of the inconsistency in preparation. The 1/2 Spinach has been ridiculously small at 3 different stores. Probably the worst run Panera I've ever been in. I've ordered here/ate here several times because I love Panera and it's unfortunately the closest one to where I live. None of the workers have ever acted like they might possibly enjoy their jobs. Every time I order online for rapid pick-up they're at least 10 minutes behind the pickup time I chose. Last time I ordered they were completely out of the bagel I had ordered...at 9 in the morning. I didn't find out until I was at the counter holding my coffee and wondering where the bagel was. I had to chase down an employee to figure out what had happened to the rest of my order. The manager offered me another one, free of charge, and was really flustered trying to work the toasting machine. Haven't ordered there since. Bad management. read more

Horrible customer service at 7:45 on Sat July 3rd. I ordered flat bread pizza, I was told they were out. I ordered large Mac and cheese, told they said they only have enough for small. I ordered a loaf of baguette. I was told they dont have any. I ordered chicken noodle soup. That was fine but will give me some random bread, but not Baquette. Well. This used to be one of my favorite places to visit, but not so much anymore. The staff is nothing but rude. I tried to order a salad the day before they were apparently changing the menu, which the cashier so "kindly" informed me I should know was happening, which meant that they didn't have the salad dressing for the salad anymore. When it took me more than 5 seconds to change my order, she got angry with me. The young man making the salads was a gem too. I got a raindrops amount of dressing on my salad, and when I asked for more, he acted like I was asking him to rebuild Rome. Entered restaurant by the Tanger Outlet Mall in Bluffton at 11:15 am for coffee and a snack and it was relatively quiet. We noticed the pastry and bread shelves were sparsely stocked and were a little disappointed but decided to eat lunch instead. Since it was a lovely day we went outside to sit. The sun was bright and I did not see the bench had water on it before I sat down. I went in to ask the manager who is responsible for cleaning off the outside furniture and she said she would be right out to do it. I would not be so disappointed but I had a worse experience at the Panera across from the Oglethorpe mall. We waited close to an hour for a grilled cheese sandwich that was delivered cold and hard. Oh My! Ordered a BOWL of soup with a GRILLED CHEESE and a drink, bill came to $19.00 and change. I dont mind paying for a good portion of food, but this was pathetic. The soup came in a bowl, and I paid for a bowl portion, but got about one small ladle of soup in it, the bowl dwarfed the amount of soup. Grilled cheese is not grilled, but simply toasted bread with a quarter piece of cheese in it. Marched it back and they made another one. I dont know how they can get away with this! Rifling through overstuffed racks of vaguely discounted goods can make a person very hungry. This is evidenced in the throngs of shoppers pouring into Panera Bread at the newly re-opened Tanger Outlets 1 in Bluffton, SC. We (me and my partner in grime) waited a week to try the new Panera, knowing it would most likely be a mob scene. Turns out a week wasn't enough. First, a small quibble: the exterior is poorly designed, with seemingly no walkway from the parking lot onto the sidewalk/front door area. We had to traverse fluffy mounds of pine needles (me in heels) in order to escape the teeming lot. But we got over that pretty quickly. I attempted to order a "You Pick 2" with a "signature" upgrade, but my girl at the counter was not having that. No, it was the garden-variety chain-restaurant menu-deviation confusion that rigid corporate pricing structures invite. So when I picked up my lunch at the counter I was surprised with a standard caesar "cafe" salad rather than the chicken caesar "signature" salad I had ordered. Still, the salad would have been decent if its croutons hadn't been staled to inedible rocks. One thing Panera's got going for it is the soup. The soup was pretty good. And I love soup! The multigrain baguette was purely "whatever." Now, while I was willing to overlook the upgrade snafu and petrified croutons, my friend's Smokehouse Turkey signature hot panini was just inexcusably gross. I almost smacked it with the baseball bat I keep in my purse, because I wasn't sure if it was dead, alive or possessed by some sort of witch. Look, we're jaded enough to know that the food doesn't really ever look like the pictures. But come on. The bread was tough and barely grilled. The thick slabs of cheddar cheese had barely begun to melt. The turkey was pinkish and slimy, like the ovular slices you get in white-label packages of unidentifiable deli meat. And the bacon--oh, the poor bacon. Pink, mostly uncooked, flaccid. My dog probably wouldn't have eaten this bacon (and I don't even have a dog!). If it weren't bad enough, half the sandwich's contents were hanging out the side, as if the bread were so nasty they tried to slither away from it. Every spare inch of the dining room is filled with tables, some of which look like temporary fold-outs, so they can cram the most amount of bodies in at one time. The combination of crappy food, huge volume of annoying fellow diners and high prices (my lunch was around $10 for a standard soup + salad and a fountain drink; really??) spells s-t-a-y a-w-a-y. At least for a while, until the crowds die down and the kitchen gets its act together--which, who knows, may never happen. And that's too bad, because Bluffton is really hurting for a casual dine-in lunch spot with somewhat-healthy menu options. read more

Panera used to be a favorite standby. However, I recently learned that hardly anything on their menu in non-GMO. This is in spite of their "clean" food marketing campaign. For example, Panera advertises "100% clean bacon." If the pigs are eating genetically modified grains, the bacon is anything but "clean." I'll never eat there again unless they start offering food that I feel won't have negative health effects. read more

Entered at opening and had to use the rest room. It was FILTHY with feces. Immediately went to the counter and advised the manager who acted as though he could care less. The front counter was chaotic as well as the back with employees yelling at each other. I asked for some cinnamon buns to be boxed and the employee at the counter told me to take the box they were using for display. I asked her for some freshly baked buns and she was exceedingly rude in serving me, practically throwing the box at me. This was all in view of the manager. With the increasing threat of Hep A, I would advise no one to visit this filthy location. I sent a complaint to Panera Corporate who never responded. So be it. After a week of expensive breakfasts at the hotel resort and waiting in lines at popular dining spots, I was ready to for something quick and easier on the wallet. While the cashier wasn't exactly super friendly (don't really care as I didn't come here for top notch service), and the food preparer gave me the wrong bread for my breakfast sandwich (remedied fairly quickly), my order came out hot and tasty. The place was clean and next to the outlet. Next time I need a quick, inexpensive meal around the area, I'll drop by here. read more

I have being a loyal customer of the Panera chain for over ten years and a loyal customer of this location in Bluffton for Six Years. The restaurant is consistently clean and great customer service. The food is outstanding and they offer a huge selection whether you are stopping off for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. I love that they offer great healthy food. Where else can you get great soup and salad at a great price and consistently good? You certainly will get it at this location. This restaurant rates fives stars and more. I certainly will be visiting in the near future. A must visit if you are in the Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort and Savannah area. read more

First of all, if I could give Ashley at Panera Bread in Bluffton a five star review, or even a 10 star review, I would in a heartbeat!!! She was the only saving grace for me the day I went to pick up my catering order! I had called ahead of time several days and asked about having a work luncheon catered with individual box lunches, I was told to hang up and go on the website, because the girl said "it'll be cheaper" that way! Obviously the girl I was speaking with didn't want to be bothered writing up my order! So I did go on the website and I did order that way, and I thought a cookie was included in each lunch because the girl I'd spoken to on the phone said a cookie would be included in each lunch! So I ordered on the website and I selected curbside pick up... And Ashley, again who was super nice and helpful, brought the order out... But when I asked where the cookies were, she explained that my order didn't include a cookie in each lunch. I asked why that was and explained that I had called several days ago, and the girl I'd spoken with told me that the box lunch include a sandwich and chips and a cookie....and to go online to order it because it would be cheaper... So when I chose chocolate chip cookies on my online order, I figured what she told me was true and each lunch would have a chocolate chip cookie included. Wrong!!! I don't even know why I was given the option of choosing what kind of cookie??!! Apparently, she failed to tell me that the online orders don't include a cookie, therefore they are cheaper! So I paid for the cookies out of my own pocket for our company luncheon!!! While all this was going on, Ashley was back-and-forth into the store to talk to the manager and explain what I was telling her about the phone call I made and so on and so forth... Not once did the manager come to talk to me to apologize for the he mix up, etc....... I never saw the managers face... The manager didn't even send a message thru Ashley that he or she was sorry about the confusion! Good management would have come out and talked to the customer, and not put Ashley in this difficult situation without back up... Not to mention how good customer service should be handled! The only thing that made this bearable, was that Ashley went out of her way to help me by packaging up the cookies that I purchased out of my own pocket and individually wrapping them for me! She was trying so hard to make the situation better... The manager didn't even offer to help her package up my order... Which was a lot of individually wrapped cookies! I know the manager didn't help her, because I had to go inside and pay with my credit card because this was coming out of my own pocket now! So I was able to watch her running all around trying to get this done for me so that I will be happy! I really felt bad for her... Like I said the manager never even showed his or her face! She's a gold star in what otherwise would be a black star establishment!!! And as for the cooks in the kitchen... If they spent more time cooking, and less time being loud and foolish, and goofing off and just hanging around talking to each other.....being pretty obnoxious (since you can see them when you're at the cashier) then maybe they would get the orders in and out more quickly! There were 4 cooks in the kitchen, and they were all acting foolish, especially the tall one (don't know his name, but he definitely needs some training on how to conduct yourself in a business setting)! In addition to the 4 people I saw working in the kitchen (3 males and 1 female), there were at least 4-5 more employees around, and not one of them offered to help Ashley fill my order.....I was the ONLY PERSON IN LINE!!!!
