I really likedy first time to a long horn I got the bone in ribeye with shrimp and rice. Everything was really amazing It was cooked to perfection The steak was so seasoned that I didn't even need sauce what a cut of meat super tender and easy to chew. This used to be my go-to low/mid level steakhouse but I'm sorry that I'm probably not coming back. About two weeks ago we both had the 7 pepper steak salad. Can't really describe why, we just didn't care for it. A couple of days ago I ordered the ribeye medium rare. It was cooked properly but had no char or much seasoning, and was not tender. I still give it 3 stars because I like their Old Fashioneds. I'll miss those. Almost forgot to mention the gnats or fruit flies. They were probably missing a few workers because our server was overwhelmed but she kept it together. We were served dirty bread plates and There was food debris in the fruit cup that my child ordered with his hamburger kids meal. The restaurant appeared cleaned with no noticeable smells. There's no urgency to serve. The place wasn't busy, yet we waited nearly 20 minutes to get seated. The waitress couldn't have cared less about us. It was my niece's birthday. I've never been so disappointed. My steak was COLD. I know it isn't that way, when the cook is plating it. The Mac and cheese, and salad were good. Once again, we were the forgotten group. The combination of unsanitary conditions (leaking ceiling), poor food quality (old, cold, disgusting), and unprofessional behavior from the visiting manager from Charleston, NC (grabbing skewer's off my plate and touching food with bare hands, while reaching over my granddaughter's food) is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. read more

We were regulars at Longhorn until a few months ago. We always ask for the same server so the service was perfect, the food, not so much. After getting 3 very bad meals in a row, we inquired and were informed that there had been a change in management. It most certainly shows. Several dishes came out cold and one entry was so salty that it was I edible, too bad. To their credit, the "chef" came out and addressed to issues, the problem is, he looked like he'd been sleeping in chefs coat for a few days. The Outlaw steak doesn't disappoint. Longhorn steak is the best steak I have had, anywhere. They know how to get that perfect char on the steak without over cooking. The baked potatoes are usually good but my favorite side dish is the Brussel spouts. These are my favorite side. Salads are always crisp and fresh. My husband loves the loaded mashed potatoes. I ordered a take out order at 6:53 I only ordered a chocolate cake and it took till 7:53 for me to get the cake!! honestly I was upset and the so called reason it took and hour was because the kitchen was back up. what does a cake have to do with the cooks? As usual the server was very good but the wild west shrimp had a lot of salt and the fries tasted like each one is rolled in salt! This is not the first time. We stopped getting the spices on the meat a few months ago so its not doubled up in salt. The restaurant always smells like 20 year old carpet and fixtures that must be covered in grease. We decided just for fun to visit a chain restaurant for lunch today, as we typically don't frequent those types of restaurants anymore. So earlier today I found myself inside of a Longhorn Steakhouse for the first time in...gosh at least a decade or more. Talk about going back in time! Felt like 2005 again, sitting in the booth with the Dixie Chicks playing on their store radio. The decor is just the same as the last time I ate at one of these and I swear the server's uniforms hadn't changed. What has changed are the prices, which were sky high even in this inflation-crippled economy. By the time we realized that we didn't really want to eat here anymore because of that, our server had already greeted us and we didn't want to be rude so we stayed. Ended up splitting a 9 count chicken strip meal with a couple of side salads, which honestly weren't bad, but definitely weren't anything special. So there we were, sharing a $17 plate of chicken fingers with the Dixie Chicks playing overhead, looking longingly at the Cava across the parking lot. Why can't soup come out HOT? I am tired of asking for the soup to be hot. It should come out hot. I ordered the seafood soup. Not sure there was any seafood in it. I did notice the potatoes. I'm not sure where to begin about this location at Tanger 1 Hilton Head. The food was on par for Longhorn with some minor exceptions such as missing the sour cream on the potato, along with a bit of over seasoning and over cooking of steaks. Medium rare is definitely not medium., but that could have been resting too long while waiting for the rest of the table. However, the problem came from the service. With at least 2-3 runners and 4-5 apparent serving staff on one side of the house it would be expected to have adequate service considering half the back section was empty at any one time. But to start it took 10 minutes to get seated with being asked several times how many people. A few sighs with and attitude 'I guess i will seat you' passed along with a telephone being more important with multiple huddle staff at the front. It was apparent that normal bussing work is a chore too as some tables had dishes left on it for 10s of minutes around us as well as to get the initial drink order. Meanwhile being absent or hanging around POS systems was the normal activity. Empty glasses for extended periods were too much to refill or to get another drink. Oh did I mention a table in the middle of the floor for 6 that is the same size as a booth does not fit 6 just because the chairs touch each other. When the food arrived the normal asking how was your steak ok , or anything else was missed. When brought up we need a drink refill instead of all at once they came at varying times, and my loaded baked potato when opened was missing half then-loaded ingredients. When ordering I had to specify everything on it which I would figure the normal instead of standard as that is what the menu and then was missing largely the sour cream and bacon. When I asked for the sour cream after splitting the potato open it never came. I only remind once and then I left it open and un eaten.... Wait staff couldn't remember and stared at it several times not getting the hint. Bread actually came during our main course as an afterthought. Even more concerning was the treatment difference between differing guests. The table behind us with the same wait staff got all the proper questions and attention but we were left out. It seems that those out of state or anyone different is subject to differing or lesser quality of service at this location and that of any concern is treated with sub par service just as maintaining the establishment. Upon leaving it was noticed that at least every table around us was empty along with several in the back with 3 staff at the front station with over 20 individuals waiting. Not even that current wait staff pushed by our exit instead of waiting for us to pass just to put some bread on the table for service. Poor service, inconsiderate staff, lack of professionalism will have me eat at McDonalds over this Longhorn the next time I am down here for the winter. read more

I cannot begin to express words in how awful service, food and managers are. First of all was served raw chicken wings. Bar tender took them back never heard from anyone not even a manager to express concern over raw wings served. They proceeded to serve new set of cooked wing, can't express how disgusted I was with the taste of raw chicken in my mouth. Then manager finally proceeded to come out to say it was a vein. I am a home cook chef yet they insisted to say it was a vein. Yet the one wing was bleeding blood. Wow what happed to customers being right. Bar tender then was not a delight to speak to anymore. Then we received a wrong cut of steak. That steak had no flavor. Had them take back steak no comp for losing my appetite on raw chicken wing. Awful do not come here to eat. This was the single greatest service experience we've had around Hilton Head. We travel here every year and we will certainly be coming back. Our server Judith was absolutely delightful. She gave exceptional service, great communication, and an authentic personal touch. My wife, daughter and I came in for a quick lunch and was so grateful to see that authentic hospitality was still alive. I'm a general manager for a leader in hospitality. It wasn't just the server that made our experience spectacular. The manager Joe Don came by our table exhibiting great professionalism and personal care for our service experience. At a time where service managers are exasperated by complaining customers, this gentleman gave a personal touch that wasn't necessary but extremely appreciated. So, this was one of those evenings when everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I must admit, I am generally not a fan of chains like this, so its not often that you would find us at a Longhorn or other similar place. But i was given a $25 gift card, so might as well put it to use! Hubby,& I both worked all day & by the time we got over to LH. It was 8 PM. Hostess seated us in booth all the way in back corner. There were 2 large tables close by but other than that, not too many other customers. We sat for 10 mins waiting for somone to come take orders...but crickets. People waiting on 2 nearby big party tables avoided making eye contact! No water to drink & no nothing & I am famished by this point! Finally, i got up to go find an employee and ask for a server. The girl I asked seemed a little flustered & a little unsure of herself (later found out its her first week). She did the right tbing though & let manager know. He came over & apologized & explained the mix up...since it was not busy they had let server for our sectiin go home early but forgot to notify hostess not to seat anyone in that section. Mgr apologized again & offered free app. Cool. No harm, no foul! So, we order drinks & appetizet and alsp gp ahead & order our meal since we had already studied menus for over 10 mims. Our server brings water & hubbys beer, but they were out of my beer. So I order a different one....then a runner from the kitchen brings hubbys caesr salad. No appetizer, no bread, no salad for me. Still no beer for me but server stops back by to let me know bartender is working on it...i am guessing they had to change out keg or taps. A runner Finally brings bread thankfully before i have to resort to eating my shoe. Hubby is finishing up his salad when they finally get my salad out to me. But as soon as 1 runnet put my salad down, 2nd runner delivers my entree!!, And literally seconds later my server delivers my beer and sees that they have gotten my entree out to me before our Appetizer arrives! Our server Taylor felt really bad & apologized ..she also goes & lets manager know...so he comes back & apologizes again and told us our beers were on the house. Appetizer finally makes it to the table! So, as far as rhe food goes, it was much better than expected. We got calamari and fried cheese curds. Bith were good. Calamari had thick breading but was tasty. It was tropped eith a sweet chili sauce & came with a tasty creamy dipping sauce. The fried cheese curds were tasty too. They were breaded and served with a apicy dipping sauce. I would eat either of these again. My salad was garden with blue cheese dressing, which is actually house-made. It is very good, would be excellent if it had more blue cheese crumbles. So my entree was the shrimp that is served on rice with choice of side. I subbed baked potato for the rice & got fireroasted corn (small upcharge). The shrimp was not bad, but the seasoning was nit my favorite. Baked potato was good but they skimp on butter & sour cream. Tue corn was a little disappointing...i thibk it had veeb prepared early in the day & just kept warm so it was a little dry & flavorless by the time it nade it to our table. I would skip this item! My entree was $17 or $18 plus a buck or so for the roasted corn on the cob (this entree includes salad plus 2 sides). Hubby had steak & mashed potatoes. He was pleased with his steak. Not the best cut of meat but it was seasoned perfectly & cooked correctly. His fav thing though was probsly dessert...a peanut-butter choolate cake with creamy chocolatey topping. His entree with salad, side, and dessert was only 13 or 14$! Quite a deal if you want to eat out and bor break the bank. So, all in all our food was good, Taylor did a great job, and the manager hit all the right notes. They just have to clean up their communication & timing issues. (And ladies bathroom could use attention too, speaking of things they need to clean up.) So, while we are still not huge fan of chains, we both thought food was better than expected & was a good value for the $. We would definitely go back & give them another shot. Went there yesterday afternoon. Never been to a longhorn steakhouse before. I was very pleasantly surprised. I typically don't get steaks out, because I feel I can make them better at home, and I usually Eve up disappointed. This wasn't the case here. Jeff was our server. He was very pleasant. Got the fried pickles as an appetizer. They were very good. The shrimp and lobster chowder was very tasty. Nice and thick, Bru flavorful. The steaks were delightful. I would absolutely say on par with Ruth's Cris steakhouse. Of course, they aren't at 500 degrees when they come out, but I don't think that's necessary. They had a good char on them and we're pretty much cooked to perfection. The broccoli was fantastic as was the Mac and cheese. Couldn't finish everything, which is a shame. The only issue I had was the waiter served the water by touching the rim of the glass. That happens so frequently out. Mechanically speaking, it's easier on the waiter. Food gets a good 4 stars, enjoyed the NY strip and a loaded baked potato. Both cooked right, served hot, seasoned well, no need for steak sauce. Oh and the key lime pie, very good. Service = 2 stars though. I sat at the bar for a late lunch. Jeff was the bartender and server. A very friendly guy. But he failed to either enter my soup order or failed to pick it up. Then no bread offered at first, till the steak arrived. Nice guy, but can improve his service execution.
