The food here is very good and you'll get a lot for the price. On the other hand, the service could be much better! The workers act like it's a bother if you ask for something any questions. It seemed to be pretty clean, though there have been some dirty tables when I go in. All in all, I only go here for the food. read more

To the Panera bread employees at the Christiansburg Va location! you should be ashamed of yourself at the way you treated the DoorDash worker that was trying to get an order for 2 customers. I physically watched you hand this man two large bags and two drinks expecting him to carry it to his car by himself without the courtesy of offering him a drink carrier as he ask you nicely for and you rolled your eyes at him. Not only that, he litterly stood there for thirty minutes to wait on the food that you and your other staff knew had already been prepared.And when he asked you not once not twice but three times for the order, you finally huffed and puffed and handed it to him. I'm sure you may have been having a bad day from the sour puss expressions you gave any one that came in your vicinity. I'm almost positive he didnt derve that since he was dashing on a Sunday probably for his family, but most of all, for the paying customers that is providing you with employment! I did get the correct food but while sitting in the drive thru the window stayed open allowing the spring bugs inside. also there were two employees eating out of the food prep containers and not using gloves. Gross. Also the employees had personal cups with no lids and kept filling their drinks from the drive thru machine. all I could think about is how their drool is transferring from their cup to the next person's every time it's touched. I pulled into the drive through at 5:15 pm. I was told at the drive thru that they had a 15-30 minute wait if I ordered a sandwich and was not there for an internet pickup. I said "great" give me some of the chili in a bread bowl. They said they ran out of bread bowls. At 5:15 pm. I ordered a non-bread bowl chili and started to pull around. There were no cars visible in the drive thru. I pulled through to the window, to discover an SUV waiting AT the window. The SUV waited for roughly 20 minutes, so they must have ordered a sandwich that was not for pickup. They didn't seem to ask it to pull around and wait at a numbered space. When I got my order and got home, the baguette I got as a side had a wet spongey spot on it the size of a thumb. The top of the baguette was sticky. The chili was fine, but the wait was not. I thought maybe they were understaffed, but upon pulling up to the drive thru window, there were maybe 8-10 people working? This is not the first time I've had a poor service issue at this Panera when it was fully-staffed. To me this says that the management is poor and it goes hand in hand with the unclean booths, tables and seats, the messy dish return that seems to always be piled with dishes, or the coffee that always has grounds in it. This was the worst Panera I have been to. The bagels were stale and hard even though they claimed to be from that morning. I got a meditranian grain bowl with chicken. There was no chicken, it was mains with rice instead of quinoa, and there was SOOO much dressing and nearly any vegetables. So if you want to eat rice and dressing. This is the place! read more

Horrible service, my wife and my soup was still cold, when taken back to counter I was told there was a microwave "over there" to heat up my own food. None of the tea/juices were filled and the trash cans were overflowing. Before we sat, my wife asked about wiping off the table which had a sticky substance all over it and was just given a dry rag to clean our table. Well here's the deal with this place, folks. The food is insanely overpriced. I ordered an Asian chicken salad and I got half a head of chopped iceberg in a plastic dish for $10. There is no chicken. Gross.... my wife and I go here a lot. I'd say maybe once a month for 2 years. We have been able to see a rapid decline in upkeep of the restaurant. I mean basic things like cleaning the floor or vacuuming. There is food all over the floor, the walls are sticky the drink station is always a mess. The carpet looks so gross. It's like a dirty gray color and has stains all over it. This place is literally falling apart. This area would do well with some friendly competition like a corner bakery, who actually makes their products in house instead of frozen like this messy place. Most times my wife and I go in there we are greeted by friendly staff or a manager. Never had any issues with service. If you are wanting a good dinning experience in a sanitary environment this is far from what you are looking for. read more

One thing I found disappointing was that you can't give your phone number to get Panera card points; you have to have the actual card with you.. Since when?! Otherwise, service was quick. I was one of the only people in there at 830 pm on a Thursday. The Thai chicken salad was just ok. The thai dressing does definitely have a kick to it but the salad overall is still lacking something. The roasted edamame were shriveled and small. This Panera is located right next to the Christiansburg mall, and is one of the healthier fast food options around. This place might be the slowest moving Panera bread I have ever been to. Not only is there only one cashier on a Sunday morning, but I've been waiting for my food for over an hour and still counting. At this point I'm guessing I'll be buried into my grave before my frontega chicken is close to being made. I've waiting so long I've become numb to time and think I did something wrong in life. The last two times I was there I went through the drive thru. The lady who took my order was pretty rude on the intercom. I pulled up to the window, got my order and she shut the window without a goodbye or have a nice day... the next time I came by was last night. Maybe they were running out of food because they were about to close? (I was there an hour before closing) I got a small Mac and cheese, brownie, and a drink all for $15. Yikes. The food tasted fine and we did get our order, but that was the where the positive experience ended. The tables were filthy, the garbage was overflowing, they were out of tea and lids, and the floor needed to be picked up and swept. If the dining area was this dirty, how is the kitchen? The AC didn't seem to be working. The elderly couple behind us were so uncomfortable. I spoke with a staff member and the tables were eventually wiped down with a disposable wipe that appeared to be a Clorox wipe, used for about 7-10 tables. Hopefully the manager/proprietor will read the comments left here and make some improvements. So disappointing. read more

We always order the cinnamon crunch bagels to take home and each time they have seemed at least a day old and instead of putting in plastic, they're just thrown in a paper bag. I'm not usually one to write bad reviews but this was a notably bad experience. At 2PM, they were out of nearly all bakery items, except for 1 bagel. They were also out of a number of main menu items. I bought the one bagel that they did have, and it came out in literally four pieces and had been *actually* torn apart by hand by an employee. Half of it was basically a cracker, it was so bad. Then, to top it off, I was scolded by an employee for trying to exit the restaurant the wrong direction- the direction in which every other customer there exited at the time (and the employee herself!). There are not enough words in the Webster dictionary to describe how horrible the food was. The chicken on the sandwich was piled up in one scoop in the middle of the bread and the amount didn't even cover all of the bread; and I order/paid for extra chicken. The pizza did not have any sauce on it and the little cheese it had was piled up in the middle of the pizza and was not melted. Had a late lunch on Thursday 2/27/20 around 2:30 and saw that Panera Bread in Christiansburg was almost empty after the lunch time. Stopped in and ordered right away. The woman who took our order was very nice and all went smoothly. We looked at the many open tables and could not find a clean one. There was trash all over the floor. Several people were at tables just sitting around and reading. There was plenty of staff standing around doing nothing. None one was even trying to clean up. While we didn't wait too long for our food, it did seem to take awhile considering no one was eating and our order was the first served since we had arrived. Technically, our order was accurate but looked like it was just thrown on a plate. Food was good but the experience was not worth close to $30 for 2 soups and half sandwiches. Panera is just phoning it in. We would have complained but we had a long night at the nearby hospital. read more

I had a $5.00 offer on my Panera rewards card expiring at the end of the month to place an online order so I decided to give it a try. Big mistake and I won't repeat it. This service is not ready for prime time. There is no way to specify that you will be dining in so you get this flimsy to go box for salad, a wax paper bag for sandwiches, and plastic ware. You can't choose your side. I got bread when I wanted an apple. And the salad portion in the to go box was much smaller than if I ordered for dining inside.
