I went through the drive-thru line and ordered a simple you-pick-two with chicken on the side for a salad. Not only did the drive-thru take a long time, but they forgot to put my chicken on the side. On top of that, I had ordered chips as my side but they gave me a baguette. At the window, I asked for the chips I ordered. The lady tried to charge me for them despite it being my original order. The manager then came to the window, demanded I give back the baguette that I had already touched as I checked my order initially when they handed it to me. For an establishment to mess up my order not once, but twice, I had hope for them to correct their mistake by giving me the correct side order without charging me extra for it. Leilani, the manager, was harsh and rude, and had no desire to correct a mistake they had made. Panera Bread (to-go, dinner) was a disappointment today. I placed a to-go order for four sandwiches and two soups (broccoli cheddar and tomato). Two of the sandwiches were the Toasted Frontega Chicken, and they looked nothing like the menu photo. Used the drive thru at 6am right when they opened and no response so I went inside. Was the first customer and order a bagel with cream cheese. The cashier offered to add butter and I agreed. It took about 10 minutes to get my bagel and they didn't include the cream cheese. When I asked about it they stated they didn't charge me for it. My complaint with all Panera Bread locations is the cleanliness of the indoor seating area. Tables dirty with past guests spills and crumbs. Carpet was also crumb filled , the area where you deposit your trays was dirty and needed attention. There needs to be constant attention given to eating areas as this is really off putting. I just joined the Panera Sip Club for 3 months free and wanted to try it out. As a first order, I ordered a large Iced coffee (free as a part of the Sip Club) and an Asiago Cheese bagel. I haven't had an Asiago cheese bagel in years and wanted to remember what it was like. Loved it! Very nostalgic for me. I am normally a Starbucks fan because of their "unlimited refills" while you are hanging out there but Panera has a similar refill policy and so I will try out the cafe and service on my next trip. Food sucks. Service sucks. spent 30 minutes in line for them to get my order wrong. Not worth it

Rude girls, horrible customer service! Because the drive through line was so long we placed a simple lunch order on the kiosk inside the Birch Road store in Chula Vista. I then got in line at the register to get a copy of the receipt because the kiosk would not provide that. A while later our name came on the screen indicating that the order was done. We went up to the window and did not see the order, so asked if it was ready or perhaps someone else had taken the order. When we gave them our name they said that it had not yet been made. We told them that on the screen it indicated that it was ready. Then we got a rude, curt response instead of an apology. At that point our name went to the very bottom of the list on the screen, below about 8 others whose orders were not ready. After another 10 minutes or so I noticed that people who ordered after we did (including people who were in line with me at the register well after we ordered at the kiosk) were getting their food before us. That was frustrating. When I asked about that, again there was no apology and simply a rude response that our order had not been started, and it had only been in the cue for 18 minutes. Others were at 12 minutes, 16 minutes, 20 minutes, etc. I think that 18 minute timer started when they kicked us to the end of the line. After about half an hour of waiting, we informed them again that our order seemed to have been ignored. They said it had not been started, and we asked if they could start it. Had we gone in the drive through we would probably have gotten our order at least 20 minutes sooner and not had rude girls telling us that our order wasn't ready, despite what it showed on the screen. As it was, by the time we got our food, it was cold (even the "fresh" bread). We were in the store for the better part of an hour, waiting for our simple order. This is completely unacceptable to me, especially since the employees were rude and unapologetic. They should have acknowledged their mistake, apologized and pushed our order to the front of the line so we would not have to keep waiting. Instead, we were punished for their mistake. I called in to let the manager know what happened. The manager was out, but the assistant manager Don was apologetic and listed a bunch of excuses about being super busy that day, but didn't offer anything to make up for their issues. He said he'd bring it up with the manager and talk to the girls, but never took my information. Do I want to go there again? No. But, if my family does we'll definitely go in the drive through so if we are ignored again at least we will hold up traffic and force them to make our food. read more

Amazing customer service by Norma and her team! I had made a late online order last night for next day pick up (preferred time 7:15am) but the earliest was 8-8:15am on the site. I had no choice but to select this time for urgent breakfast meeting at 8:30am. I did submit a note that if I can get the order by 7:15am they would be life-savers, and greatly appreciated. We met another couple here on Thursday 9/12 briefly and ordered a breve latte. The manager at the time, and I'm a little embarrassed that I couldn't recall his name, but was very kind & helpful. He had asked if I had a phone # linked to my Panera Rewards account so he could apply my order to it, and I told him the last time I provided it, it didn't link my account (maybe the computer had an old phone #) but I had my Panera digital card in my Apple Wallet. He suggested I allow their point-of-sale NFC reader to recognize my Panera digital card. Surprise! It worked! The son liked how the bacon was thick and plentiful. Also purchased was the egg white, spinach, avocado, tomato, white cheddar on a sprouted grain flat bagel, and two Peach and blueberry smoothies, and a brownie. Total for all set me back almost $50. This Panera located in Eastlake at a fancy shopping center, it has a drive thru, and a drive thru pickup parking spot, a little different than the regular online order pickup. Basically you drove thru to order, then park in front of the store and they will bring it out to you instead of holding the line at the pickup windows like at a fast food restaurant. Anyway the place already gave me the upscale vibe, but as I got in, I can see the set up was much cleaner and newer, although the self service kiosk was acting weird, it kept kicking me out of my log in and told me time out, but I managed to order without going to the front counter, not that I don't want any human interaction, but no one was there, they must have been busy taking care of the people at drive thru, either way the experience was pretty lay back, a handful of customers sitting inside, minding their business, while if you didn't order any food like me, you can just get as much drinks as you could without bothering anyone, it was a bit of a drive away from where I live, but this location got to be the best Panera so far in San Diego county. read more
