I ordered two sandwiches and two bowls of soup today and was extremely disappointed. My sandwich was sloppy and falling apart. All the contents had fallen out into the paper with the bread laid on top. The bread was crumbly as if it was old and the service was horrible. After showing it to the manager he asked what was wrong? I asked him if he paid 11.00 for a sandwich at what is suppose to be a high end bread shop is this what he would expect to receive? He proceeded to tell me he couldn't take the sandwich back, but after a frank conversation he gave me my money back. Not once did he apologize or make sincere gestures of regret. Restaurant is not clean. A grilled cheese sandwich should at least feature more than a half melted slice of cheese between two half toasted slices of bread...so disappointing (Wish I had taken a picture of this sad sandwich). Also, this food is loaded with sodium so check the nutritional values of the items online before ordering if high sodium is an issue for you. read more

I have over the last 3-4 years ordered a baker's dozen of bagels for trips I've taken 2-3 times a year. Each and every time something is wrong with the order ... from not being ready (and manager admitting he was supposed to do it) to not being packaged for me, to today just a note that 2 flavors I wanted were not available, with 3 days' notice. The only thing good about Panera Bread is the Internet connection. After receiving my stale bagel, I began my journey looking for a clean table. I have been to a lot of Panera's, and this one is below average. Even though they were very slow, the cheese in my panini wasn't melted; it was just chunks of cheese. I didn't return it, since we had already waited about 15 minutes for our meals (even though they did not appear very busy when we ordered) and we were on a tight schedule. I also didn't receive my chips, and when my husband went back for them, he was given the stink eye. The food tasted fine, but I wouldn't be inclined to return. read more

We picked this place for our lunch on the way from Florida to NC because it was closest to highway, but were disappointed. The place was dirty, we had to clean our own table. Our turkey avocado BLT sandwiches came without avocado, when I went to ask for avocado, a guy at the counter handed me piece of avocado in a napkin. One order had no chips, other one was missing bread. There seemed to be enough workers but they were slacking, one worked was taking orders and other one making sandwiches, others were just walking around without doing much. Had to remind multiple staff members that I had still not received my food (a toasted bagel) after a 20 minute wait... after they demand to see my receipt. Then, I waited another 10 minutes before someone even started making my coffee. I work in the food industry and completely understand waiting - even though no one else was there. This used to be my favorite lunch spot. Then things just started changing. Service got slow. Tables remained dirty. And then ingredients for my favorite salad were MIA. One week-no strawberries. Next week-no dressing. What's the point of Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad if u have no strawberries or poppyseed dressing. The food is what you would expect from any Panera so that didn't factor too much into this rating. I always go with a you pick two and feel full afterwards. The service at this particular location is extremely slow moving especially during the busy lunch hour. I came here on a Friday at 12:30 and waited in line for 15 minutes as only three cashiers were helping customers for more than 10 minutes each. When I finally got to the counter to order, my cashier didn't seem to know how to type on the register and had to ask for both my phone number and food order twice. They may have been new, but it was still extremely slow for even that. read more

Today was my second time visiting this location. Terrible service. No-one looked happy to be there. I received my food before my pastry. Then had to wait another 10 minutes for a cashier to be done with customers to give me the pastry. About 15 other employees walked by me (including the manager) and no-one asked if I needed help or why I was standing there. Panera is probably one of those places that is the same wherever you go. This particular location was OK. Restaurant was clean and not too busy during dinner. Prices was slightly higher than what I would normally pay. My bill came to $9.10 for a turkey sandwhich, side, and a small drink. Of the three locations in the Columbia area, this location does have a meeting room (not too big), but from the looks of signage, you must have a $50 catering order. Not sure if rules can be bent if people order individual meals that comes up to $50 - that could be a question for management. read more

Terrible experience. Arrived at 7:35 my order wasn't taken until 7:47. The restaurant was dirty...hard to find seating because there were many tables not cleaned off. Me and my friend ordered at the same time and it took her 35 minuets to get her food and 50 minuets to get mine. My friends pager went off and she went up to get her food and it wasn't ready. It took 15 minuets after her pager went off for her to get her food. I went up to ask about my food (which was only soup and a sandwich) and one of the workers rolled their eyes at me. I've eaten at this location twice. First time in the cafe, and the bread on my sandwich was soggy. Everyone has an off day, so I tried again with delivery. I got a chicken panini w so little chicken I figured they must be running out. I called to ask for another sandwich w a decent amount of chicken. It took an hour to get the replacement food- and I was on Harbison- but the chicken this time was just as sparse, grisly, red, fatty- just gross looking. I was amazed this was sent to replace a disappointing delivery. Garners ferry location always has excellent delivery service. Not the Harbison cafe. Traveling through with my family and pulled off the highway to avoid fast food at 4:30 on a Saturday. After we ordered we were told that they didn't have ham (this affected 3 sandwiches). Then we were told that they did not have ciabatta bread. They were going to make a Cuban sandwich on whole wheat bread with no ham. At Panera Bread Co, the manager looked me in the face and told me they were out of bread. I decided to give it one more chance today and as I was waiting for my food the couple in front of me had chips with their order. They were later informed that they were out of chips.
