The people working here are so unprofessional. They are rude. The cashiers make fun of customers. I complained to the District manager and the cashier informed the manager. I overheard them saying of all people, you. The cashier is unfriendly and made a comment I did not know my phone number that was why the kiosk did not work. The other employee saw the kiosk was out of order. The cashier continued to mistreat me. One day another employee indicated she was always a problem and difficult to work with. Aside from smaller annoyances such as pricing (especially given the less than stellar food quality), I had a particularly off-putting interaction with the cashier who took my order, Karissa(?). She was incredibly snippy and unwelcoming, providing a customer service experience left with a bad taste in my mouth (which is never good as far as a restaurant is concerned). A delicious experience!!! I eat a very strict diet and the Quinoa Lentil Salad is one of the most delicious plates of food at this restaurant! A light oil and vinegar dressing on a salad comprised mostly of Kale and Romaine with slivered almonds and quinoa! Restrooms were clean and the staff was especially friendly. Just is not what it use to be!!! they are always out of coffee or the coffee is cold, don't have the fixing for the coffee... they are right next to stop and shop you think they would have enough brains to go get honey or what every they are out of instead of making their customers suffer. They have also gotten so slow, the person taken orders is confused by having a customer then you make your coffee do what ever go to pick up and they don't even have your order yet. Hadn't been to the East Longmeadow MA store in abut 4 years. Last time they did not get my order correct. The cashier input the proper items however the people who put the orders together either are too busy talking to each other or just can't read. Went back for the first time in 4 years and the same thing happened. How can you mess up a bread bowl with cheddar broccoli soup and a baguette? I got the bread bowl with the proper soup with a bag of chips. Again, too busy talking to each other, not paying attention, plus apparently they cannot read! Never going back there again. I have never been to this Panera until today and I'm sorry to say I won't be coming back. My boyfriend and I walked up to the kiosk to order our food and pay with a card. It told us to take a pager and put in the number, so I did. We sat at a table and waited. And waited. About 15-20 minutes went by and we heard nothing and our pager never went off. Finally my boyfriend went up to look and saw that our food had been sitting there. They told him there was no name so they couldn't call it out, and they forgot to give him his drink. When he asked about the pager he was just told "yeah sometimes it doesn't work". They could have called out the food items or made more of an effort. When I got my (large) mac and cheese it was lukewarm, his drink was watered down, and there was hardly any food in my bowl. Wish I could get some money back or store credit. read more

Panera's food remains exactly what you expect (competent but overpriced). What sets the EL location apart is the awful service. This place has fallen apart, especially compared to other Paneras. Cashiers are fine, though they could benefit from basic customer service etiquette training. But the order makers... wow. You have to try to screw up as often and spectacularly as they do. Missing ingredients. Missing items. Wrong items. Wrong sizes. Lukewarm soup and burned paninis. The worst part is that with the EL Panera it is no longer a question of "if" the order will get botched, but merely a question of degree. It seems to scale as the pace of the place increases, but even in a dead time you're sure to find something wrong with your order. I just left Panera Bread in East Longmeadow after the worst experience there I've ever had. I have been going to this location for years. Today, we had the unfortunate experience of being "helped" by the rudest, most crass employee. My mom is up visiting for Christmas and she wanted to pick up bagels for the kids. Upon entering, the registers were unmanned so it was unclear where to wait. There was a petite blonde behind the counter who appeared to be cleaning so we asked her which register we should go to. She replied, "you can order at the kiosk because I'm doing this." I told her I didn't want to order at the kiosk and would wait. She proceeded to carry on with whatever more important task she had than waiting on customers for at least 5 minutes. Other customers entered and lined up behind us. None were greeted. There were two other employees there. One appeared to be cleaning as well and the other was in and out of the back. She finally came over and rudely told us that she "had to make that drink and that's why I told you to order at the kiosk. I'm the only one here so it's much easier if you use the kiosk." No apology. I told her thank you for explaining the process but I wasn't interested in using the kiosk. She then explained that if someone had gone up to the kiosk while we were waiting she would have had to fill their order first. Without so much as a please or a thank you, she took the order and handed us the bagels. If Panera thinks replacing employees with kiosks and forcing customers to use them is a good business plan I would beg to differ. Love us some panera. The pastries are always fresh and delicious. I'm not a big fan of the new flatbreads but the sandwiches are always well balanced and yummy. I recommend the pesto veg or the tomato soup or on a side note the Mac and cheese. They also have a really good challah but it's hard to guarantee one on Fridays. I love this place because it never disappoints. The only changing variable is customer service. I had to fight for my breakfast soufflé today. I ordered the last spinach artichoke soufflé and the gentleman taking my order did not grab it right away, and someone after me ordered it...if I hadn't said anything I would of had no soufflé . I brought my 2 boys in for lunch. I spent $30 on 2 bread (soup) bowls and a noodle bowl for myself. The southwestern noodle bowl was awful. There was sooo much lime I couldn't get past the 3rd bite. I brought it back to the counter and the server apologized. She agreed it's terrible. I asked her for something else..just a bowl of soup. She began to ring in a $6.95 order. I declined. I refuse to spend more $ when they could have at least offered to remake it with less lime. I contacted their customer service by email and was told that they don't replace a meal because it was not liked. At any restaurant, if something is so bad you can't eat it, I feel they should try to fix it. Not charge me for MORE food. Ive been going there for years. I informed them that just a bowl of soup would have made me happy and coming back. Their customer service and policies are disappointing. Especially considering their price point. While viewing the pastry window there were flies on the pastry and two stationed on the Cherry Danish. I reported this to Monique. She stared at me for a moment not sure she heard me. I began to repeat myself her response was abrupt and very agitated. She grabbed the thongs to remove the one pastry. Monique's response to my customer concern was unbecoming to the Panera's staff as I've known it to be since the restaurant opened. And since a few of us witness the flies on the food they should have all been removed. Perhaps an enclosed case would better serve the purpose of keeping the pastry bug/fly free. read more

I personally love the cinnamon crunch bagel with hazelnut cream cheese, the bacon turkey bravo sandwich, and the mac n cheese in a bread bowl. They also have a large variety of drinks and baked deserts. Their food is always fresh, and the place itself is clean to make the whole experience itself very enjoyable. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Panera Bread was once a force to be reckoned with but now it's a mere shell of the bistro it used to be. Let me set the scene. Half way through my watered down Broccoli Cheddar Soup it became apparent that I would need a second vehicle for consumption in the form of another side of baguette bread. The upstanding consumer that I am, I went to the register to fairly pay for a new piece. The cashier smiled and took my hard earned 80 cents and went back to fetch the goods. She handed me the bagged bread and I walked away unconcerned until I felt it. My world crumbled as I threw down an END PIECE OF BAGUETTE. Is our world that twisted that it is acceptable to charge people for butt pieces of bread? I was able to ignore the mashed up chicken avocado panini and the chalky ice chai latte but I left Panera in crisis after the butt bread incident. Not really sure who I am anymore. 2 stars because there is ample parking and very clean. read more
