Love their broccoli cheddar soup and salads. Yesterday, I had the Ancient Grain, Arugula & Chicken Salad and it was soooo delicious. The chicken had a tasty flavor, the greens were fresh, and the grains made that crunchy bite that you expect in your salad. I was fully satisfy for the rest of the night. It is a good and tasty healthy choice as for a late dinner. Plus, I have to say that the staff is always very courteous and friendly. Service is fast and accurate, I never had problem with my orders. This specific franchise is the worst Panera Bread I have ever dined in. First, the customer service is questionable at best. In no way, is the customer service near the level that accurately reflects the Panera Bread brand. Second, the physical store layout does not maximize space and is confusion. The store layout resembles that of a fast-food chain like a Wendy's, Burger King, or a White Castle. It's the most bizarre layout of a "Third Place" business. The layout doesn't keep customers moving through the store in an efficient way nor does it highlight any of Panera Bread's products; the products are literally the furthest distance away from the entrance/exit. Third, the presentation of the soda fountain and beverages are like a home BBQ setting where you pour your own pitcher of unlabeled beverages. Basically, you are taking a gamble. It's a good thing, I don't have allergies. Fourth, the cleanest of the restrooms pose a sanitary issue and it is rather clear that the restroom is not routinely attended to. In addition, there is a clear deterioration of the door trims along with damaged walls, and a desperate need of a paint touch up. When you look down, you can see so many food crumbs on the floors and carpets and it's only 10:00am in the morning! I'm glad I'm not staying for the lunch rush. Fifth and finally, the parking lot area is a guess that it belongs to Panera Bread. You'll have to find the leaning pole that shows the brand's notable autumn green "Pick Up" parking sign. I've never been so disappointed in a franchise location, and this is coming from a huge supporter of the Panera Bread business. Panera Bread created a "Third Place" to provide people with a relaxing space that encouraged work connections with the coziness and warmth of home. However, I don't feel any of those qualities in this location. I just want to hurry up and leave. There is a real opportunity for another "Third Place" business to find a lane into this industry or perhaps, Starbucks can capture a larger segment of the market. I hope this review helps someone out there and eliminate more of these low-quality pricey product businesses. Oh, I forgot to add that I am writing this review with a winter jacket on because it's December! They don't seem to be aware of the low temperatures outside around this time of the year in Illinois. Food is great but not a place to get your homework or work done anymore unfortunately. The internet is actually so slow that I tried to place my order at the kiosk and even the kiosk was freezing and couldn't take my card payment bc it kept saying "processing..." I had to order at the front with a person which is fine by me anyhow. But, I came here with the intention of getting work done and after i finished my meal and opened my laptop everything was so slow.... it wasn't my laptop bc i ran a speed test and it said 1.01 mbps... that's insane! came to the library a few blocks down instead but really a waste of time if you are going with the intention of doing homework. While this location is close to the Dominican campus, they get slammed with customers, especially during lunch time. There are very few places to park and even fewer places to sit. This is a favorite Winter Spot, especially the Wild Rice Soup. All the times I've come in here, the staff has greeted me and taken my order within a timely fashion. If I have questions on a certain item on the menu, I ask... Most people do not ask. I have to commend them for not being uptight about the free wi-fi usage at their location. I would sometimes dine-in and see other patrons using wi-fi, who comes in after me and just sits and sips on a bottle of water. The food never disappoints, is always warm when served and just about the right serving size. My wife ordered the You Pick Two: Broccoli Cheddar soup with the half Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt. The soup was good as usual, but the sandwich was a disaster. There was no avocado - none. The chicken was fatty, there was very little sauce, and the cheese was slapped on so it was on only half the sandwich and draped over the outside. By far the best customer service I've had at a Panera. I ordered food for delivery and apparently the door dash driver couldn't find my house ( which is bs) i never received a phone call from her or anything else for that matter. I usually run in and out, but rarely have time to sit and visit with friends at this particular Panera's... Perhaps it was the day - Wednesday, cold and dreary, after the lunch hour... But folks seems to be running on half full, (maybe it was more like a quarter full). The person taking my order seemed a bit unnerved that I was even in the store. I only asked one question - I wanted a half a salmon sandwich no bacon, no chips, but I got the impression that, that wasn't what she wanted to hear, (of course, I'm still wondering why the cost of "half" a sandwich was just a dollar less). I wanted water from the fountain drink area, and that was messy with spilled drinks and lids here and there... Then I got to me table and that was messy along with paper straw coverings and random trash littering the floor. They must have been short on staff because the area where you put the dirty dishes was messy as well. It didn't help matters any when a mother or perhaps the woman was a nanny, (which better explains things, but is still not exceptable), with an active three year old didn't interact with the child, but attended to her ipad for about an hour. The little tike went bonkers with rather limited resources for amusement; but, began crawling all over the floor while making amusing animal sounds - loudly. She left in a huff, with the child crying - loudly. I like kiddies, but interact with them please - leave the electronics for a moment. All of this wrapped in a nice package, (no bike rack for my bike either and about 3 oz. of salmon - for 7.00), made for a unpleasant dining experience at this Panera - and it used to be nice. My last sit-down visit was about a year ago with the same friend, but with others and it was cleaner and the staff more pleasant. JUST HAD A WORKOUT AND WANTED A BAGEL BUT PANERA ONLY HAD SESAME AND WHOLE GRAIN... THEN THEY INFORM ME THAT THEY ACTUALLY ONLY HAVE 1 WHOLE GRAIN AND MY FRIEND HAD TO TAKE THE SESAME. Stopped by to pick up some breakfast for myself and my parents, and ordered a couple souffles and a breakfast sandwich. The counter person came out from behind the counter calling my name after a few minutes, and handed me my bag. I left and went to the parents house. Guess what? No sandwich. Had to go back to be told that it was my fault, that I had neglected to go and wait in the other area for the sandwich. Really like that they do offer a good vegetarian selection including salads and sandwiches. I typically like this place for its convenience and multitude of options but I did have one bad experience I would like to mention. I went for soup one evening, about an hour before close, and the soup was actually cold. I went up and mentioned this to the guy working the register and he just pointed to the microwave out near the coffee urns. I thought that was a bit tacky. Overall my times there have been great. The employees are friendly and do a great job keeping the place clean but this experience did leave a cold taste in my mouth. read more

I enjoy this Panera Bread....I like all Panera Breads...but this one is probably my favorite. I think there's crack in their Tomato Soup. Honestly...I could bathe in it...it's that good. And I love the option to get bread or an apple instead of chips with sandwiches now. It's got the same menu as all the rest...so there's really nothing to say about the menu. The location is next to Binny's...and they kind of share a communal parking lot. It's a little difficult to park in back of the Panera in Winter...and I usually park at the Binny's. Nobody seems to mind...and I can pick up beer for later while I'm getting sandwiches for now. The other fun thing I like about this Panera...is there always seems to be something up at the "community table" ...which makes it feel less like a chain...and more like a community meeting place. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bread bowl with broccoli and cheese soup!!!! Its so delicious and I like to dip the bread in my soup, yummmm I really like the chipotle chicken sandwich as well. Getting in and out of the parking lot across Harlem Ave. is basically a suicidal feat in and of itself. Panera was good when it was St. Louis Bread Company, and about a year after when it took the name of Panera, but not any more. To me, almost everything tastes the same. The soups have that high sucrose aftertaste that most pre made and commercial soups have - the same as Prego or Ragu tastes I think it's used like a preservative thing. Most Panera's are now beat up and dirty - you smell when you leave the place because of the Pannini machines, and yes you smell when you leave the place - my clothes semll so bad when I get home I have to hang them outside at least overnight to get rid of the greasy smell. After having to go to Panera EVERY Monday for the past 3 years, I basically hate everything they have except their baked goods. The rest all tastes the same. read more
