My family and I came to Panera looking for a quick and easy breakfast, the exact opposite of what we actually received. We placed our order (which took a while in itself), and were asked to be seated so our food would be delivered to us. We sat down for 15 minutes before an employee came and informed us they no longer had plain bagels .. why did it take you 15 minutes to figure that out? Whatever, no problem, we ordered everything bagels and sat back down. They arrived 15 minutes later, and STILL we hadn't received one of our sandwiches. I got up with my receipt in hand to talk to an employee, which by the way, were all very unkind, and uninterested, and was told to sit down, it will be at our table in a few minutes. I went there yesterday for a quick dinner with my mom. As I stood at the register to order, I realized that my favorite sandwich, the Sierra Turkey sandwich, was no longer an option on the menu. The cashier was nice enough to put in an order for Sierra Turkey even though they technically don't serve that sandwich anymore. Apparently the menu has changed and almost everything is pick 2. We ordered one meal and tried to get a side. They (the manager) wouldn't let us because it was a pick 2 meal. We said just a side, but they couldn't ring it up that way. We went back and forth with the manager and finally said a whole sandwich with a side. The reason behind giving this specific Panera Bread location 2 stars is because I love the food as well as my co-workers love their food. However, I set up catering through this location for two days for our quarterly department meeting. Both days we needed breakfast delivered and lunch. The first morning they were 15 minutes late delivering our breakfast. Then for lunch I had set it up for them to deliver the lunch by 11:30am, they delivered it by 11:15am so it had to sit outside of the conference room until they broke for lunch. So that was day one. Day two, breakfast was supposed to be delivered no later than 7:30 am but I got a call at 7:31 am stating that they did not know what happened to their catering girl and that they were running late and would be another 20 minutes. 20 minutes later the food arrived. I brought the food up to the conference room and starting setting up. I had ordered two trays one that was supposed to be pastries' the other was supposed to be bagels. There were only two bagels in one of the trays. So I called back and asked for more bagels. Another 20 minutes goes by and the manger brings back more bagels. However, before I even got down to the lobby to pick up the bagels the manager already left. She did not wait for me to speak to me, to apologize nothing. On top of that I still have not received the receipt from this morning's breakfast like I should have. I could not believe the tardiness, and the lack of professionalism. I understand that her catering girl left or didn't show up but as a manager you should be able to pick up the pieces and handle things and manage them without your employee. Adapt and overcome. Needless to say I will not go back to Panera for our next department meeting for catering services. read more

Exactly what you would expect from a bakery and sandwich shop food wise. However, the service was amazing. I waited in line behind a very indecisive customer. Took forever. When I got to the counter, the guy simply gave me my coffee and bagel, apologized for the wait and said they'd try to be faster next time. I will definitely be going back! read more

Walked into the store and smelled soooo good making me excited for my meal. I notice some self-serve tablets, but I wanted to just keep it simple and order in person. After waiting 5 minutes without being helped I placed an order on the tablet (no big deal). HOWEVER! I order a chipotle CHICKEN avocado melt to go. Not my favorite panera location. Mainly, I think it's a training issue. The food is good, but they struggle if you want to sub anything in your order, and the tea is usually out. I ordered frozen lemonade once and the lady messed up the recipe and was 2 inches short on the drink. Attempted to call the Fairfax Towne Center location for over 30 mins, choosing every menu phone option...nobody picked up on the new order line, manager line or catering line. This review is for online ordering. The past three orders I had for pick up were wrong! Every time you customize a salad, they will put whatever the hell they want into it. It's not that hard. And they don't care because you won't check the contents of the salad until you eat it at home. Then it's too late. I have been to many Paneras but this one is not very impressive, it is very small as comparred to other ones and you do not get that warm feeling of the panera Bread here. parkiing is also hard to get and you have to park further sometimes. Food is nice though. Service is fine but the ambience is not so Panera Bread. I go there as it is close to my house. read more

So I had been here a couple of times prior to tonight and never really had a remarkable experience, but this time was quite the opposite. My girlfriend and I were attempting to use a gift card we had received from our families, yet it would not work. To be very vague-- we were well taken care of. Facil was the manager's name and he did everything he could to help us out. He even went out of his was to make, and serve us our order. This really stood out to me as excellent customer service. Because I also plan on calling Corporate directly about this tomorrow. I went to the Fairfax Towne Centre Location in Fairfax, VA and ordered over the phone carry out. When I got the sandwich home one half was fully cooked and the other half was raw, not a little bit raw a lot raw. I called and talked to the manager on duty and was told "They don't cook the meat in store and that was the way it came to them, and that it should be white." I wasn't apologized to and he didn't offer to do anything about the situation until after I asked for his name and asked for the number for corporate. Been here a couple of times since my new office is right up the street. I don't know what happened to Panera as a brand between when it first started popping up on the East Coast and now. The quality didn't go down a little bit - it nosedived. This one is the worst I've been to in recent memory. Either the line is long or there's no line, but there's nobody at the desk. Employees tend to be a bit on the "why are you bothering me?" side with starting comments like "what do you want?" or "what is it?". The folks at the sandwich station visible to the customers like to gossip a lot, which I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that sometimes I've gotten sandwiches where the top half of the bread doesn't even look like it was placed anywhere near the rest of the sandwich. Bread is overly soggy sometimes, and either the press isn't hot enough or they're not doing it long enough because lots of times my sandwich has been cold or barely toasted. All and all, I'd honestly avoid this one if at all possible. read more

Yuck, I can't believe how bad the food was. My husband and I have lived less than two miles from this location for a few years now but we've never gone because he hates Panera. Well, tonight we went there for dinner because Pomodoro was closed due to a family emergency. I now share my husband's sentiment, the food is straight garbage. I work across the street from this Panera location and use online ordering nearly every day for lunch. They usually get my order correct, maybe once every month forgetting the side, though usually they include extra sides so I can't complain. Today however, they forgot to put my sandwich in the pick up bag. I called and spoke to the manager, Jeremy, who was very apologetic and had me come back over to pick up my sandwich and a bakery treat (as is Panera's policy). When I got there Jeremy had not only re-made my sandwich and offered me a treat of my choice, he gave me a whole sandwich including the side pickle and chips, instead of just the half sandwich I was missing. And if that wasn't enough he reimbursed me for the cost of the original sandwich. I'm very impressed by companies that go above and beyond to fix the inevitable mistakes in their customer's experience. I'm happy but not surprised that Panera is one of those quality establishments. read more

Manager rarely in evidence to manage slow slow slow cashiers who chat endlessly with friends at the cash register as the line to order gets longer and longer. Cashiers can't even do single tasks efficiently at slow speed. Food is good but not worth the unnecessary wait. read more

This is the 3rd time this bakery has served me the wrong food!! I am a vegetarian and the panini sandwich had chicken in it! The black bean soup was smaller quantity with twice the salt!! And the Baguette was half the normal size. Looks like Panera is jacking up the price and reducing the portions. My mother is in chemo treatment for pancreatic cancer at the nearby hospital, so this location is convenient for pickup. However, they cannot seem to get an online order right! Two weeks ago I picked up an iced tea, only to find that someone labeled the coffee urn as iced tea so I had a huge cup of iced coffee. Today, I ordered 2 pick-two orders. One was to come with an apple, the other with a sprouted grain roll. I got back to the hospital only to find 2 apples. Seems like a competent Panera franchise should not be making these simple mistakes that really ruin a cancer patients day. Teddy was my cashier today and he was very personable and made my whole experience better.

My family eats here from to time and the food is generally fresh and fairly tasty. Yes, as many have said, the establishment is a bit dirty at times and there isn't nearly enough seating during lunch or dinner hours, but it is generally a quick and convenient place to eat during off-peak hours. My family enjoyed their lunches today as did I concerning the Bistro French Onion Soup and French Baguette I ordered - yummy as usual. However, I wasn't as thrilled with the Southwest Chicken Flatbread sandwich. Despite telling the order clerk twice that this was an "in house" order (he seemed rather distracted), my food was given to me in a to-go paper bag. When informed of the mistake, the folks at the delivery counter questioned my truthfulness and seemed annoyed at having to take the food out of the bag, pour the soup into a bowl, and put the sandwich on a plate. Looking at the food on the counter now, the flatbread had partially opened (no big deal), but it appeared there was no chicken in the sandwich. Upon asking the counter crew about it, I was informed in the same annoyed manner, "That's just the way we do it - the chicken's underneath the other stuff." I took this at face value, but after examining the sandwich at my table, I found it consisted of a thin spread of black bean paste, around 6 kernels of corn, and a huge amount of shredded cabbage. There were only a few tiny pieces of chicken weighing 1/4 ounce or less. That said, I likely won't be ordering this item again. The company might better label it the "Southwest Cabbage Flatbread Sandwich that Smells a Little Bit Like Chicken." Enjoy! read more

I would give this place a one star but since I've been coming here for years, I'd thought I'd be more generous. This is more of a wake up call for them to improve their customer service. I've been coming here for many, many years, and I'd never had a problem with this location, however a couple of weeks ago, I encountered rude service by one of the employees. I ordered a Chicken Caesar salad, and Broccoli Cheddar soup. When receiving my order, I noticed that there was no sauce on the salad, therefore I walked back and asked the girl who prepared my salad nicely if she could give me some. She rolled her eyes at me, & proceeds to give me the death stare as if I was her worst enemy. After all that, I was eating and talking to my mother where I heard some yelling and loud laughs which I thought was so shocking because out all the times I've been here, it's mostly quiet because most people there are either working on their computer or studying & such, but I looked and saw it was that girl who gave me an attitude about the sauce! People around me were disturbed by her excessive loudness and most people almost wanted to get up and leave (myself included.) Not to mention, the chicken portion on the salads had decrease. They really need to fix their customer service... For now, I'll drive further away to the one in Centerville because food there is nicely portioned & customer service there is amazing. read more

I've had two terrible encounters with the manager at this location and will not return. The first experience involved the cashier leaving the register after helping a family, without offering me service. She asked her manager for assistance and he said to my face "I can not help you." It felt like he was refusing service to me when I only wanted to order a sandwich. I finally was helped a few minutes later but only after feeling that I was being discriminated against. I contacted customer service who comped my sandwich. Today, I had another rude encounter with the same manager when I asked for my sandwich to be remade because there was no meat on it, which a staff member agreed. The manager on the other hand was very rude and argued about remaking the sandwich and made me wait 10 mins before returning the same sandwich right back to me. Mind you he filled at least 15 other orders prior to fixing my order. It's obvious that this manager has a issue with race and given that my money is not valued here, I will not be returning. I called customer service again, but in my opinion my complaint wasn't taken seriously enough. This man is outright rude to minority customers with no consequences. read more

Every time I come here, I experience similar things, mainly poor management and poor understanding of customer needs. I think I'll switch to another Panera from now on. Also, they use some dirty mop water or something that leaves an odd rotten stench when you first walk in the outside door to the middle area. Sometimes I think about leaving so as not to risk any other dirty surprises from the food. They always slap the food together in a way that doesn't bring out what the item was supposed to be. Management is oblivious so you can't even explain to them these things. I came into today hoping for a relaxing breakfast, and ordered the quinoa oatmeal which was really watered down and tasteless, and had a little piece of green onion lodged in it...hm. I ordered for here, and had to ask twice for a different mug after they gave me a to-go cup. The caffe latte was so hot that I burned my tongue, which is why I asked for a mug instead. Then they buzzed me twice to say my oatmeal was ready but it was not...for another 7 minutes. Jeez. Not what I was hoping for...now I'm afraid to order another item, although I'm still hungry, because I'm afraid they'll spit in my food or something. read more

We ordered a chicken caesar salad. We asked for tomatoes but didn't have any in the salad. As my girlfriend was eating she found a black/grayish object in the salad attached to a romain lettuce leaf and it looked like some sort of caterpillar larva/cocoon. It was about 1.5 cm in length and cylindrical in shape. I poked it with the back of a knife and it gushed a little bit. In disgust we went to the cook/manager and asked what the item could be to get justification from them. They tried to explain it was not a bug but a edemame bean, and apparently some of them could have a black color, he then broke the bean and it broke cleanly in half, he ripped the larva in half and obviously slimy string-like guts were pulled apart but they continued to tell us it was not a bug. They did offer us a new item on the menu and a refund but we had already lost our appetites and she had eaten less than half of her salad but just the thought that she had eaten it did not help at all. read more
