Placed an order online. Went to pick it up 5 minutes later. Got my sandwich to my desk and it was HORRIBLE. I didn't even eat it. A thrown-together mess. And when I called them to notify the manager, he insinuated that it was my fault, as if I didn't pick it up fast enough. I eat here about two to three times a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I usually get their pick two special, either a sandwich or salad with their delicious french onion soup. They are definitely over priced, which is why they do not get the fifth star, but its really good food. Their breakfast bagels are awesome with Honey Walnut spread. It can be quite crowded sometimes, and if you get your order to go make sure to check it as they mess up orders frequently. Even with its flaws, Panera Bread in Fairfax is still one of your better quick service choices in the area. Just be ready for the dent in your wallet if you get addicted to their delicious food :( read more

I enjoy Panera and have been to a lot of them in the area. This one is my favorite - not only because it is the closest, but because it is the one that seems to be the most well run. The people behind the counter seem to keep things moving, they are friendly, but like the other poster stated, they aren't sickeningly friendly. They move you through the line quickly but don't seem to rush you. I have never had any issues with an order, or with food not being prepared well. Sometimes a "toasted" bagel is not really toasted because it goes through the toaster so fast, but I am fine with asking them to run it through twice. There is usually enough seating. The drink area is kept clean. My only complaint is with the other customers who will sit one person to a huge table or sit at the tables with outlets when they are not using a computer, but that isn't Panera's fault - it's the fault of ignorant customers. Even so, this doesn't happen often, and I can usually find a spot to plug in and relax. read more

This place a standard Panera. The restaurant itself is a bit awkwardly laid out but you get what you would expect to get at Panera. Food quality is consistent and service is okay. The restaurant does get a bit dirty at times and I would not come here to just relax and catch up on studying or connect with friends. I would either go across the street in the Fairfax Towne Center for other options or drive a bit further up to go to Corner Bakery on 50. If you have MyPanera reward to claim or if you are just looking to grab their bagels to go, this location is not too shabby! read more

Went with my family and order 3 orders of food. One of them I asked for an extra pickle. When the food came there was no pickles at all. I went back to ask for them and the manager was behind the counter and asked me what did order, I answered her she followed by telling me with an attitude that this order does not come with pickles. Lol. FYI what I asked for was on my receipt. I told her it's ok if she want to charge for them, she replied no as she was doing me a favor and gave two welted pickles that dogs will not eat. Average Panera in a busy shopping center. Order online for quicker pick-up. The breakfast line can get long here, so come with extra time and patience. On our last visit, we were served a kid's yogurt tube that was a week expired, so keep an eye on dates. I dont know what the deal is with my luck and Panera's service but this place is just like the others. The two times I have been here the folks taking my order have been kind of rude. They also never aske me what side I want, they always assume I want the regular baugette....which I find interesting because there is a big sticker on the door that says Panera was voted "the #1 healthiest fast food chain." If that were true, assume I want the apple. So anyways, the first time I come in here I go to the counter and the employee just sits there counting something completely ignoring me. Finally he takes my order and again, dosent ask me which side I want. So when I tell him which one I want he tells me to tell someone else. I mean how lazy can you be...your work here, not me. Overall, this isnt an huge deal but I have had similar problems with service at other Panera locations. They just don't seem too concerned about the customer as a company. Anyways, about the food. I love their creamy tomato soup and their new Power Breakfast Sandwich is pretty good. It actually "tastes" healthy and fills me up. Not really sure where all these bad reviews are coming from... I've been frequenting this Panera location for years. I have NEVER had a bad experience - never a wrong order, never bad food, never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for my food. That being said, this Panera is located within a shopping center, so it can get exceptionally busy during peak dining hours. This is expected. So yes, your food will take a few extra minutes to make and yes, you will have to scout out seats if you're planning to dine in. Call me crazy, but... I must admit that I actually enjoy waiting for food at this location during peak hours (especially the weekend). There is one lady behind the counter who is a MACHINE at making food, putting together orders and telling the other staff members what they should be doing. It's pretty entertaining, but exactly what they need for the number of orders being put out. If you frequent Panera as much as I do, be sure to use your Panera card when purchasing food. I've scored free desserts, drinks and $$ off of meals. Score!! read more

I have had hit or miss service here. The last time on Labor Day weekend was BAD...completely ignored, then when my food arrived, it didn't have the side and had to ask and re-ask to get it. Then I went up to ask for a spoon and got questioned whether I already had one (who cares?). Panera Breads are pretty much the same everywhere. Some have more lounge seating and some have fireplaces and couches, etc. This particular Panera seems to have all of the standard Panera stuff. BUT it is also the most confusing Panera I have been to. The last three times I have been in there has been confusion among the patrons as to where to order. Sometimes the bagel/pastry section has an order taker and sometimes there is someone at the sandwich and regular food station. But when there is only someone at the bread/pastry side no one seems to know where to order. Not that big of a deal really. The thing that is annoying is that this seems to be the only Panera in the world that is pumping music in the restaurant - could definitely do without that. read more

You get a free pastry when you sign up and then by my third visit, I was already getting deals! +/- pretty good place to study if you don't need an electric outlet. The noise level was pretty good (didn't have to turn up the volume too much on my ipod!) - super confusing to order food! It was rainy and I wanted to pick something up for to go so I decided to stop by. I ended up using the fast lane kiosks and waited for my name to pop up. While I was waiting there was another customer ahead of me that seemed to be missing something from their order. As I was waiting the customer and the man behind the counter were chatting. I noticed my name change to ready and the person put the bag on the counter. Before I could even check the other customer grabbed it and started to sort through it. The man behind the counter didn't even stop the person from going through the bag. When the lady realized it wasn't hers she pushed it back and quickly said sorry. The man behind the counter just pushed the bag to me not saying anything about the mix up. I've frequently Panera at this location for couple years now and never once have i received anything less than excellent customer service and delicious food. Yes, the line is long if you come at PEAK hours but doesn't that prove how great they are that everyone continue to support the company. Plus this is not a McDonalds so the wait is expected. Typically I come a little bit off the peak hours and the line is not bad at all. The food is always excellent. My go-to combo is tomato soup and chipotle chicken panini or the fuji apple salad (with extra apple chip to replace chicken and sauce on the side of course), accompanied with caramel latte or expresso. The service is nothing short of fantastic. I've been seved by each and everyone that has worked there (since I've come here at least 3 times a week for a couple years) and none has ever disappointed me. The ambiance is very warm and cozy.
