Worst Panera I've visited.. I ordered 10 Tuesday bagels for pick up at 8:30am a week in advance. I ordered them for my company, i get there on time and i keep waiting 15 mins go by nothing. they ask me what i'm waiting for and they hadn't even started the order. Finally they bring out a bag of just bagels thrown in brown bags when that is NOT what the Tuesday Bakers dozen is. If you have ordered it before you know that they come in the Brown cardboard boxes that look nice and when i'm ordering for my company i want them to be presented well not just thrown in a brown bag. By the time i was leaving with my correct order it was 9:15 when my pickup time was 8:30am... DO BETTER. Honestly no excuses on this poor poor service. read more

The line is always so long but they have this little kiosk thing to skip the line and very simple to use. However, when they serve your food to your table, they don't give use utensils (for my salad) and I had to look hunting for one which I found little plastic ones that was really hard to cut my chicken and eggs. Tables were not cleaned so we had to wipe it down with napkin but there was still sticky stuff that couldn't be removed with napkins. So ehhh... last resort. read more

Just your average run of the mill cookie cutter Panera Bread. I came in for some cherry pastries since I was in the area. They were good, the service was a little slow when I tried to order and the dining area seemed clean. There is plenty of parking outside since it's located in a large shopping center. If you are a frequent diner I recommend you download the Panera app. Over repeated visits your rewards will build up and your get free or discounted food. With the app you can also order ahead to pick up when you get there. read more

I did like this location until today. Went here for lunch and it was a bit crowded but not too bad. The cashiers were nice! Actually pretty amazing, which is why I'm giving this many stars. I ordered a green tea, frontera chicken sandwich, and Fuji Apple chicken salad. When my buzzer went off I waked up to the counter and was trying to ask the lady which one was mine. She just stared at me like I was stupid - there were at least 6 other plates and I didn't want to grab the wrong one. I finally got my plate and realized I didn't receive a fork so I went back. When I asked for the fork the same lady gave me a dirty look and rudely handed me the fork. As far as the food, the salad was DRENCHED in dressing! I came in with buddies for a quick something and settled on yogurt. Quick right? Wrong. I was waay down on the line to pick it up from the kitchen while my friends finished up their coffee. I decided to cancel my order. The Manager came out and apologized for the delay. Apparently very busy from online orders. He did return my money as I told him I should have just gotten a banana. This Panera is not up to par with the others that I have been to over many years. They incorrectly made my order the last four times that I was in; After the third, I asked if I was ordering incorrectly, and the employee just said that he would fix it. I tried to contact corporate only to find that there didn't seem to be a way on their website. I reached out to them on Twitter and was then told where the form was on the site. I contacted them two days ago, no response, my order was wrong again today, so I emailed them again. Panera as a whole is a good brand but this location is not up to par. read more

Haven't gone here in a long while, and decided to come back. I was still a bit disappointed. I did rapid pick up and ordered online. They were very speedy because it was only about five minutes before I went inside and it was ready. When I looked at the grilled cheese sandwich there was one measly slice of cheese on the sandwich , not nearly as much as the Panera in Centreville puts on. It tasted good but I think I prefer the Panera closer to me, that actually puts a decent amount of toppings on the sandwich. read more

I have been to many Panera locations in my time, but none are as busy as this one. I always forget there is a Panera Bread in this shopping center, but boy is it always popping. The line was almost out the door. We were able to order pretty quickly at the kiosk. The food is what you expect at a Panera. It is always consistent. The service was prompt given the amount of customers. Staff was also friendly. I would recommend stopping by if you want a casual bite to eat, but if you are in a rush you should either order ahead or look elsewhere. read more

They get the ORDER WRONG EVERYTIME (and trust me, everytime.) I have been ordering Panera pick up since the pandemic started and out of 3 orders I've made, ALL 3 had either missing item or wrong size of beverage. Asides from the incorrect order, one time I ordered two plain cream cheese tubs and it came inflated and sour. I knew this didn't taste right so I called and the manager(Omar), and he told me to bring the cream cheese to the store. I went back to the store, and I told him that cream cheese was gone bad, but he told me that their cream cheese factory changed and this was the new taste. Christmas Eve. They open at 7. Doors still locked after 7. Multiple people waiting outside standing in the cold. Multiple cars waiting in spots or on the street. Been watching them get ready since I arrived before posted opening hours. They took 3 extra minutes. No wonder it says they're hiring. At least they have warnings over kiosks due to their charges lemonade caffeine deaths now. The incessant beeping of the cooking area does not make for a comfy cozy atmosphere. To that effect the fireplace was not lit and there was no ambient music playing. The blinds were not up. Food took 15 minutes to make. Multiple people and orders came and went who arrived after us. The order was not on the order board. We received an email and text instead. They could've put things on the same plate and saved us a trip up to the pick up window. They have a window sign saying 100% clean pertaining to the food. I know for a fact that the bathrooms aren't 100% clean! Napkins in urinals. Tight spaces. Why is food served under napkins. How dirty are the plates you're serving on? The clientele are discriminatory and move seats out of your view. This review is about the management team about this particular location in particular Mustafa , I had placed and order the previous day on their for my lunch later that day , I did not check my bag when I picked up my order and realized later that day that I had been given half a sandwich from the menu instead of the the whole sandwich I had ordered and charged for so I called after work later that day and spoke to a female manager and explained to her my situation, I didn't get her name but she also had excellent customer service skills and told me what I had to do to be compensated on my next visit. After waiting almost 2 HOURS for my delivery to arrive, it came without my coffee. When I called the restaurant to let them know, the employee or manager who answered the phone said that the driver forgot it and that he would call with an update. No updates came, no one came back with my coffee, and now when I try to call the restaurant I get sent straight to voicemail. I emailed their customer solutions on the Panera website, and have not gotten a response there either. I usually love Panera; but this one is awful. Placed an order using their app and waited an extra 15 minutes in the parking lot with barely anyone there. When the food finally arrived, our order was incorrect. I ordered six bagels and they were really hard. Definitely a few days old. I called the manager to ask to exchange them and he said they bake their bagels every morning. Would not entertain an exchange or refund. Did not try to fix the problem at all. Allergies need to be taken seriously in restaurants. Period. Apparently this Panera did not get the memo. On my last visit to this Panera, I ordered a half Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and told the cashier to hold the pecans and that I am allergic to nuts. She assure me that she was memoing this into my order and that they'd change their gloves, bowl, etc. for the allergy prep. This was a good start! When my food is delivered to my table, I find that it's covered in pecans. I told the runner that I am allergic to nuts and asked for a new salad. He asked me if I could just pick them out? Are you kidding?! I said no and requested a new salad to be made to order, without nuts, and explained again that I am allergic. He brought me another salad a few minutes later, but it was incomplete and without some of the standard toppings that come on the Fuji Apple salad, like the apple chips and the cheese. So again, I asked him if he could put the rest of the toppings on my salad. By the time all of this was finished and I finally got a proper (and safe) salad, my mom was already about finished with her meal. This was a very frustrating and unnecessary experience all around. I'll give kudos to the cashier for taking my allergy seriously, but it's disappointing that those actually making the food don't seem to have the same care and attention to detail. I'm lucky that I ordered my food to stay, because if I had gotten all the way home with an inedible salad, then I'd be really mad. This place was smaller than I had expected which made it quite crowded. Half of us were there for the free wifi so many table (and outlets -which are conveniently located when you can get a booth) were taken. I ordered food so luckily by the time I had washed my hands and come back for the food a table was clearing up. It was by the bathroom but this just meant a lot of strangers looked at me as they passed, no strange smells. I surprised by the selection of this Panera compared to others I have been to that were larger. All the food seemed fresh from where I was standing and all the food I ordered was actually fresh. I love fresh baked bread. Crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. Cheesy croutons in my tomato soup! Yum. I tried to drink a frozen mocha thing but it was so sweet I couldn't even get it to look like I drank any at all and it just melted. The water was free and clean. Given the close quarters I was forced to listen to two poor souls being duped into a marketing scheme which they all were "really excited" about. But otherwise, a good place. read more

We made a quick stop here before a movie. I ordered the chicken cobb salad. I received the chicken bbq salad. As it was about 15 minutes before our movie started, instead of complaining, I decided to try the chicken bbq salad, since I never had it before. Well, it was just bbq chicken mixed with salad. That in itself was nothing special. The worst part was the chicken was ICE COLD. Not chilled but "pulled from the deepest depths of the walk in with ice particles still on it" cold. My boyfriend's chicken was also just as cold. The highlight of the meal was the Ceylon mango tea, which I brewed myself. The staff were nice. Compared to Tysons and other locations, there was some inconsistencies in service (we were not offered a choice of fruit, chips, or bread as a side and received bread as default). I come here a lot and I'm always disappointed but today was horrible. 20 minute wait for my food when there was no line at all. By the time I got my egg sandwich it was 1035, five minutes after breakfast ends. I asked the kid behind the counter if the egg was still over easy or if it had cooked itself. He said it is over easy then I opened the sandwich to find the egg over hard. I asked him for another egg and he throws another pre-cooked egg on there and hand it back to me. I asked if that one was over easy he said yes. I opened it to find the same thing. It is impossible to have an egg over easy that is pre-cooked at 25 minutes plus ago. Then they tell me they didn't have any chocolate cookies this early in the morning like there was a huge rush on cookies. To finish it off my frozen caramel had 1/3 less coffee and whip cream than it normally does. I do not like giving people bad reviews but one absolutely everything goes wrong and this seems to be a consistent thing here, something has to be 6/21/20 Breakfast sandwich. No egg. They basically made grilled cheese sandwiches. They didn't say they had no eggs, they said no over easy. I swear I'll never go to this location again. How can you have breakfast with no eggs. This is the third time that my office has placed an online order for breakfast/lunch. The first time another customer took our order that they put on the "rapid pick-up shelf" and I had to wait for them to remake it. The second time, they forgot half of our order and we had to go back. The most recent time, just this morning we ordered a few breakfast sandwiches, a tea and a smoothie. I waited in the long line because it had appeared they had rearranged the store and I didn't see the pick-up shelf. When I got to the front of the line they told me they didn't have my order. I had to have a co-worker forward me the confirmation. I then showed them the confirmation and he was very confused saying they didn't have that order. I told him again what was in it and he said oh it's done. It's on the other side of the store facing away from us on a shelf. Really? What a very inconvenient place to put it. I picked up the bag and the smoothie and headed back to work. When I arrived we realized in the bottom on the bag was the empty cup for the tea. REALLY?! Why wouldn't they have put it on the outside of the bag so that we knew we had to fill it up? Didn't occur to me that there was a cup in there! I then proceeded to call the store and I spoke to Marsha the "manager". She was very rude and never apologized. Instead she said well we encourage customers to look in the bag before they leave. REALLY?! I asked if someone was going to deliver us the missing beverage and she replied that they "are really busy and couldn't send anyone over". I told her that her customer service was terrible and that they way she was speaking to me, the customer, was repulsive. She then replied with "how am I talking to you?". I'm sorry, but that is just bad customer service. It then came to my attention that they failed to make one of our three requested sandwiches correctly, forgetting the requested spinach. I feel like Panera is turning into a McDonalds or a Burger King. It's typical fast food joint - despite the fact their food is better, their customer service is just as bad. I never want to order from here again and I plan on letting everyone know of the bad service I received from Marsha. She needs a training in how to talk to people. If someone is upset you don't talk to them condescendingly, that makes it worse. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that will care for their customers. In the end I think that their "rapid pick-up shelf" is inconvenient and isn't working in their favor. Get rid of it and have your employees actually speak to the customers placing orders! read more

Annoyed. Very annoyed. Almost a 30 minute stop for breakfast this morning..... take out! The line is confusing because of weird signage. The line doesn't move very fast because only one person works the register and preps your food in the morning. Seriously. This new hidden menu with all these great low-carb, healthier options is what brought me in this morning, but apparently the menu is "hidden" from the staff as well. Once I finally got it settled with the guy at the register, I got to watch the person prep the bowl on the line. The very dirty and messy line. Really? The day has barely begun! How is the prep area that messy already? The food was blech. Two over-cooked basted eggs swimming in water from the pile of thinly sliced and mushy tomatoes. Add half of a rock hard avocado (inedible) and three or four hunks of microwaved (watched her do it) cheap "steak" and you have the power breakfast bowl! The steak was almost inedible and it was over seasoned. This was a disgusting waste of money and calories. Never again. Time and time again, I learn that you should always make menu selections based on the name of the place, and in this case, do yourself a favor and get something involving bread. I have gone to Panera for years and everything is normally good, tasty, fresh. I came in today around 2 pm and there were only two cashiers working. The line was about 8 people long and it took awhile to place our order which was fine I work in a restaurant I know they were busy, but you could definitely tell people were complaining. Our cashier was kind of rude and awkward. Anyway I got my order to go. I get home with and old avocado in my chipotle chicken avocado melt. I was super excited to try it and now I'm just disgusted on why they would ever serve this, because someone knowingly prepared my sandwich and did not care. I was excited they brought clam chowder soup back and it was ok. I'm giving it three stars because my other experiences have been good, this one just was not. read more

I live walking distance to this Panera. Because of all the negative experiences I've had there leading up to the summer of 2014, I gave up. Plus, Corner Bakery opened across from Rt. 50 from my home! Corner Bakery at Pender Center is so much better overall, especially when compared to this Panera. When I used to go to Panera, I thought the baked goods were overpriced and I wasn't really a fan of the dark roast coffee. But, some guy in my car pool likes this place alot and I dragged over there. Some of the lunch items are good. They never seemed to figure out where to queue the line and always mover that damn table with pastries on it. The service is hit or miss like other reviews have mentioned. The kicker for me was a few months ago when one of the cashiers gave me a large cup for coffee instead of a medium. So, I said "grande", not medium. So what, my bad. When I corrected my words the receipt was already rung up as a large coffee because he upcharged me without asking me to clarfiy. He told me "grande" is a Starbucks term and even though he knew it is medium in Panera language, I received my large coffee cup, good for me. In any case, that cashier was simply rude and I wrote the company that same day and never got a response or retribution. One other time, Panera had no light and dark roast coffee available on a Thursday morning at 9:00am in the summer of 2014. And it seemed like the staff was not paying attention. I've been to other Paneras in Fairfax City and across from Paul VI High School. And a few times in Centreville -- they are actually okay. read more

Now don't get me wrong, I love panera FOOD. But half the time, the workers are so disgruntled if you ask for a replacement of something in the sandwich or salad or soup etc. Basically any questions asked will be answered with a groan. I'm curious why it's panera bread but the bread is always too hard and not good. I go for the salads and broccoli cheddar soup though! I feel like those things are hard to mess up. Ahhh, Panera Bread ... the old stand by. This Panera has been at this location since the time that bread was invented, but luckily nothing gets stale here! As most Panera Bread's do, they keep the menu changing JUST enough that nothing here ever gets boring. However, the "you pick two" option allows you enough variety that you get sample the ever-changing menu without having to break the bank. This location always offers courteous and fast service and bountiful seating ... it is always clean and the line is usually long, but they run like a well oiled machine. I LOVE that you can get pastries/muffins/breads/cookies/lattes/anything your little heart desires at Panera. I suggest getting the Panera Bread rewards card ... they give you freebies if you go there often :) read more

The only thing that is any good here is the tomato soup and a few pastries, but everything is pre-made. First notable bad experience I got in line around 10:15am, by the time it was my turn it was now about 10:30 and the cashier told me they are no longer serving breakfast because its 10:30. F-you Panera! I walked out without ordering anything since I came for bfast and they now suddenly stopped serving bfast. I won't settle for that crap. Second notable bad experience I ordered "you pick two" with a full sandwich and cup of soup. The HUGE menu on the wall explicitly states "$8.99 for two signature items" plus "add $.60 for each premium signature item". So two signature items is two half sandwiches right? Wrong. Ilse the manager told me it was a half sandwich and a half salad. But where does it say that on the menu? It DOESN'T!!! (Two items = two half sandwiches = one whole sandwich. But nope, no discount. Ilse the manager gave me the FULL price for a sandwich and FULL price for a cup of soup. So what should have been 8.99 + .60 + .60 = $10.19 came out to really $12.48 ($3.99 for cup of soup and $8.49 for full sandwich). No big deal right? Wrong!) Ilse the manager doesn't know her own menu. If she does know her menu and is correct, then the posted menu is wrong and misleading and Ilse still sucks as a manager because she hasn't fixed the signage. Ilse sucks even more because a decent manager would have comped the $2. So your cheapness and stubbornness just cost you a customer permanently. I left and went to Potbelly where I enjoyed an Oreo shake and big turkey sandwich. All the other visits were mediocre at best. Panera is pre-made average food and getting old. Panera is so 2006. I was debating giving them two stars (big money two stars!), but because this is a repeated problem they don't get any benefit of the doubt and receive only one star. Bf and I came here with our friend to pick up dinner. There was a butternut squash ravioli which intrigued the three of us. The guys ordered the dish, and the ladies (our friend's wife stayed home) tried it. I wasn't impressed and found the ravioli too cheesy for me. I did get my fix of the Asiago Roast Beef sandwich but it seemed smaller than usual. I was also craving the pecan roll but was disappointed to find the roll itself dry. Only the pecans were ok, and at $2.55, that is not acceptable. The double fudge brownie I ordered was already packaged in a box and not as moist as it looked and I was expecting. I do like that they have small cups by the fountains. The small cup I had was enough to quench my thirst while waiting. There have been lines each time we've visited - day or night so I don't know if it's because the place is popular or just because they are slow. I used the order to table feature for the convenience. The table was in fact very dirty and I had to clean it myself-very acceptable. Does anyone check the tables? The food runners are friendly and the food is fresh and healthy, atmosphere is nice but... I found hair in my food!Yuck!!! Had to go back to get it remade and the employee was irritated and very rude. Got back to my table only to find that dressing and fork is missing. Go back AGAIN to the counter and the employee yells "yes ma'am" in an irritated tone. Not a good experience at all. I eat here about two to three times a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I usually get their pick two special, either a sandwich or salad with their delicious french onion soup. They are definitely over priced, which is why they do not get the fifth star, but its really good food. Their breakfast bagels are awesome with Honey Walnut spread. It can be quite crowded sometimes, and if you get your order to go make sure to check it as they mess up orders frequently. Even with its flaws, Panera Bread in Fairfax is still one of your better quick service choices in the area. I enjoy Panera and have been to a lot of them in the area. This one is my favorite - not only because it is the closest, but because it is the one that seems to be the most well run. The people behind the counter seem to keep things moving, they are friendly, but like the other poster stated, they aren't sickeningly friendly. They move you through the line quickly but don't seem to rush you. I have never had any issues with an order, or with food not being prepared well. Sometimes a "toasted" bagel is not really toasted because it goes through the toaster so fast, but I am fine with asking them to run it through twice. There is usually enough seating. The drink area is kept clean. My only complaint is with the other customers who will sit one person to a huge table or sit at the tables with outlets when they are not using a computer, but that isn't Panera's fault - it's the fault of ignorant customers. Even so, this doesn't happen often, and I can usually find a spot to plug in and relax. read more

This is the absolute WORST Panera I've ever been to. Whether it's dining in, take out, or online. Everything takes an excessive amount of time even if you're just getting a pastry.
