This location is always busy. They are pretty fast which makes the experience a lot better. I mainly come here for coffee and lunch time meals with the girls. They have a nice selection of salads, soups, and sandwiches. My favorites are: chipotle chicken panini, tomato mozzarella panini, black bean soup, broccoli cheddar soup. They're pretty much the all American sandwiches and soups, which is nice to have sometimes. They are actually really great for catering. I have ordered online and picked it up at this location many times. They are super organized and always ready when I pick it up. I recently placed a catering order to be delivered and it worked out pretty well. They came about 15 minutes early which was unexpected because I wasn't even there yet, but at least they're prompt. Yay! A place not overcrowded with teens in Federal Way. This place is very chill and a great place for bagels and bread. My sandwich wasn't the greatest because of the fact that if I took it home, it would be soggy. Also, it was soggy 5 minutes into eating it. I love this place though. Panera's concept is a bakery with some soups, salads and sandwiches. They have bagels as well. A little more expensive than your average sandwich place but I think the price is worth it. Service is usually quick. The Cinnamon Crunch bagle with Hazelnut creamcheese is good, you should try it. I was bummed one day. I came in at 10:45 and wanted their delicious Broccoli Soup and it wasn't ready. They said it wouldn't be ready for like 30 minutes. I was bummed because that was half the reason I went there. They've added a larger pastry selection recently also. Went to this location on last Sunday after church. We usually go to the Tacoma location since our church is close by but we ended up coming to this location because we live in Federal Way. I'm not sure if Jaeline (I think that was her name) was not having a good day or if she's like that all of the time but I was not impressed with her customer service skills at all. She was not friendly nor welcoming. When we were ordering she seemed like she wasn't even listening and didn't repeat my order back so I asked her to repeat the order back, she looked at me and rolled her eyes then repeated the order back. On top of that we ordered a pastry since it's 99 cents and she just assumed we were going to eat the pastry there and didn't even ask if it was to go for that pastry so when she brought it out, I asked her to make that pastry to go. She put it in a bag and almost threw the bag at me, then rolled her eyes. I was not happy with her service and I honestly have never encountered anyone like that at a Panera since most employees at Panera are super kind & nice. This was definitely not the case with her. I looked at the receipt and the receipt said "Buyoung" (I think that's how it was spelled) so maybe she was covering for someone while they went to lunch? Either way her attitude was not acceptable and honestly whatever that was going on with her she needs to leave it at the door because it definitely reflected on her service. I'm not a huge fan of the whole soup and salad kind of places. I've had their soup and that was decent and then another time I had their pizza. The pizza was not very good, pretty much flat and skimpy. The good thing about this place is of course the decor, seating, and Internet access. The coffee is also pretty good. Been a huge fan of Panera since I discovered them in 2005. The emphasis on great service and quality food are what every restaurant strive for. There is something for everyone on their menu. If you've never been here, my favorite items are: Cinnamon Crunch Bagel (cream chese not necessary), the Bear Claw, Broccoli Cheddar Soup, and ANY of the sandwiches. I could eat here every day and sometimes I go through some episodes where I do just that. The only potential drawback are the long lines. So my recommendation would be to give oneself an extra 15 minutes. Go Panera! read more

Honestly the food is typical. As a chain their food is not as depth as it could be if it were freshly made. Except for their bread. I ordered tomato soup with a grill cheese sandwich and it comes either with apples or bread. I chose bread because my dad loves their bread and so I decided to give it to him.Since the bread are freshly made, there is a fresh smell of bread flowing around. I feel like I am in a bliss. And the atmosphere is fairly casual. I see some people there studying but I wouldn't recommend here if it is busy. Mainly due to it is noisy. But the main reason I am giving it a four star rather than a five is because the young gentleman was carrying my order around and when I told him it was mine and I had the number/order. He looked at me and said "are you sure?" And then walked away with my order. And when he returned, he handed me my order and we never spoken ever again. read more

I have been to Panera in Federal Way on many occasions. Lately the service has deteriorated. The last 3 times I went, items were not given to me (they were completely forgotten). On one of those occasions, I specifically asked if my scones were in the box with the bagels the lady was insistent (to the point of rude) they were but alas when I got home they were not. This last time they forgot to give us the bag of scones, delivered the wrong sandwich and completely forgot the other meal. They don't seem to have any tracking system to make sure a customer has all items ordered. This is a shame since the food is delicious. read more

They do often run out of things...but that is becaue everything there is so tasty...yes that can be annoying...but if it gets you to try something new, then viva la difference. Dining in for the first time with my little ones. It's a treat. The cashiers were kind, food was great. However I'll only do a pick up order. The man calling out names was rude. I had to go back an order half sandwich. Because of social distancing we were all the way by the front door (totally okay) however hard to hear for order pick up. After I finished my meal I went to check if they had happened to call my extra order for the half Sandwich I looked at the table and wasn't sure so I asked. The man calling out the orders was so rude he instantly replied there are five orders your orders is coming. To be 100% I wasn't in any rush just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it. Used to love Panera. Went there a few days ago to treat the family, I wasn't super hungry but I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. I got plain white bread not toasted or grilled. The bread was doughy and they slapped American cheese between the bread and then microwaved it. I took it back and told the manager this was the worst food I've ever seen or tasted. My wife had soup which had to be canned and it was awful. My boys did find anything on the menu they wanted. The interior looked terrible! After a 2-hour commute we decided to stop at Panera for a "quick dinner." It wasn't quick. There was no romaine for the salads. They ran out. Of romaine. There was a kid sniffing the drink mix because he didn't know what went into the frozen mocha that my aunt ordered. Said frozen mocha took 10 minutes to make, including commentary for everyone to hear. ("What does it smell like?" "Cinnamon. No! Pumpkin!" etc etc) Overheard while waiting: "Order for... I can't pronounce your name." To an Asian man. They forgot our chips and apple. Two people working behind the counter who were supposed to be making food argued about who was taking longer breaks. Our 2-hour commute turned into 2.75. Plus, this Panera doesn't have a drive-thru. Every time we go here, they skimp on the ingredients. We just made a rapid to go order for pick up and they just left it on the counter, not in the to go place. Then when I asked if it was my order, they rudely said... well is this your last name?. Then I asked where my cup was for my drink and they said it was in the bag, it was not... when we got home, the 2 sandwiches that I paid 20 bucks for were basically bread. My husband had a panini that usually is oozing with goodness but instead there was barely any ingredients to see! It didn't even satisfy any hunger... then I got the Italian sandwich, which usually has three meats and some other yummy ingredients and all it had was literally 4 tiny tinyyyy slices of meat and some Arugula thrown on there. I normally love Panera, I actually used to work for them years ago... so I know how things should be made and if I made those sandwiches, I would not eat them myself. I just stopped in to this store as I had a reward that was about to expire. I ordered the Pick Two at the kiosk, but the screen shut down before I completed my payment. I went to the counter to inquire if my order did (or did not) go through. The young woman said, "Oh, the kiosks aren't working, they've been down all week". I then attempted to order at the counter using the reward and this same woman said, "You can only use the rewards when you order at the kiosk". Employees should be authorized to give the discounts when the kiosks are down and they could have covered the kiosks with an out-of-order sign in the interim. First time ordering through door dash in which I ordered the Greek Goddess Cobb salad. Salad gets delivered with no dressing or eggs. Called and spoke to manager at Panera (Marie). She was very apologetic and mind you this is lunch hour so she told me to order through door dash again and she'll cancel the first order. Ordered same item again. This time, no avocado and still no eggs. Now second order messed up again. I did not call back Panera bread to speak to manager the second time because what's the use right? Order through door dash again? I don't think so. So I have 2 salads with incomplete dressing/toppings missing and still did not get reimbursed for my first order. Spent $55 on two salads which includes door das fees and tips. Not happy but 2 stars for the apologetic manager but $55 for two incomplete salads is pricey. read more

I try so hard to like Panera but I keep getting disappointed. This is a review of today's visit only but I will say I've had worse visits and better ones. I went in today at 830 on my way to a job site (Sunday of all days) and was immediately hit with a bad impression. There were no soufflés, no muffins, and literally there was only a third of the display case with food. Come on Panera! I'm used to the soufflés being tapped out but this time was just pathetic! Then I'm in line for 10 minutes for the young cashier who looked like he just woke up to take care of the one customer in front of us. 10 minutes to make a damned order of a dozen bagels not toasted. The problem wasn't that he didn't know what he was doing but more so a tremendous lack of motivation. Well I thought that was going to get taken care of when the GM Mario walked up to the counter but he instead offered to take our order, ok no prob let's order. Ordered 2 toasted bagels, a cinnamon roll, breakfast sandwich, and 2 coffees to go. After ordering he asks, "is this to go or for here". To which I reply "to go" even though I already told him this. After ordering he tells us it will be up in a minute and he then proceeds to take the order of the people behind us. I always thought it as the norm for the cashier to give the customer the bagels and pastries right after ordering. I then waited.... and waited..... and 10 minutes later I ask the person working in the sandwich are if my order is ready to which she tells me yes it's been ready for a while. Of course my sandwich was not to go and was instead on a plate and cooled off. She was very polite and offered to make me a new one but I didn't have time. She did of course show me that the order was put into the computer as for here. Annoyed and still without my pastries I asked to see Mario the manager. The girl looked for him but couldn't find him. While explaining my order to another person at the register Mario appeared from the bathroom drying his hands off walking to the registers. I explained to him what happened and the first thing he did was tell me that he punched in my order to go but the computer changed it for here. When I asked about the rest of my order he said "oh yeah" and then went and got my order after I had to explain what it was again. No apology, no offer to do something so that I leave a satisfied customer. I left disappointed, late for work, with a cold breakfast sandwich, and no time to eat a bagel. The only saving grace was the person working in the sandwich area. She was smart and quick to offer a resolution. It was obvious when the 3 employees working in the sandwich area they were annoyed by their manager. So Panera, Come on!!! What is going on with you guys? Is it that freaking hard to make enough damned soufflés in the mornings? When will you get decent management? When will you start treating customers as if you want them to come back? For a handful of people, the point of a takeout order is to save some time! I'm a stock holder and previously thought it's awesome Panera is pushing take out orders! Unfortunately when I recently called one in, I arrived at the restaurant a solid 25 minutes later to find that my meal hadn't even been placed to the kitchen yet. Apparently (with 4 people working) there was some sort of broken communication and it never got placed. Things happen, right? The manager immediately got involved and instead of trying to make it right, apologize or something, she began questioning me as if I didn't place the order. The young attendant working the cash register immediately intervened and claimed responsibility for the blunder. At which point I still wouldn't classify the manager as kind or apologetic. If I hadn't already paid, and wasn't starving I would have left. I hate to take the time to write a review like this but as a stock holder it troubles me. We saw a sign in the place as we were waiting a long time for our meals. It said something we strive for every order to be right. There was 5 at our table and every order was wrong. I go there because my daughter likes Panera bread. She doesn't like this one though. I've never been impressed with their food, but some of the salads looked good sometimes. It's a very popular place for lunch, probably due to being the healthiest option in the area. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but just ok in my opinion. For a little more than $7, I got half a sandwich and soup. The Sierra Turkey was good but more like a quarter of a sandwich and the broccoli cheddar was good as well (should have made it larger for an extra buck or so). The pastries look good and will probably try on my next visit, but overall I thought it was just ok. *My wife wanted no onions on her sandwich and they told her that she would have to take them out herself since the sandwich was pre-made. Its a frickin bakery - bake more frickin bread bowls. Coffee was too cold to drink so had to pay for iced tea. Have gone to many Panera locations and found them to be excellent. Ate there literally almost every day for either breakfast or lunch when working in Maryland and Ohio for 2 or 3 months. Have eaten at the Puyallup location many times. When I said something at the Federal Way location about the cleanliness and service they really didn't give a crap. Plenty of other places to eat around here.
