Ambiance is korean pocha/late night bar setting and they are open until 2am! There's limited seating during their busy hours so definitely come earlier if you can. Lots of parking outside. Everytime I visit here, I ALWAYS get the creamy bulgolgi udon. This dish is super unique and I've never seen it elsewhere. The sauce is so flavorful and pairs perfectly with the bouncy/chewy udon and well marinated bulgolgi. The pork belly kimchi udon is good as well if you like a spicy kick. We also ordered the half and half fried chicken (original and yangnyeom) and it was perfectly crispy and juicy on the inside! My friend enjoyed the spicy seafood stir fry which paired well with a bottle of soju but they also have lots of other drinks (nonalcoholic) to choose from! after a long night out or just for a casual lunch/dinner-- definitely a go to spot for me. read more

Honestly, this is the kind of food that tastes better when you are drinking. If you came here strictly for the food, you might think it was just decent, but as Korean bar food or a midnight bite, it works really well. I ordered the honey garlic wings and the half-and-half (low-level spice). Unfortunately, the honey garlic wings were quite dry and seemed overcooked--the meat was hard and even the bone crumbled, which was disappointing. The half-and-half wings were noticeably better and much more enjoyable. I also tried the Creamy Udon with seafood and cod roe, which was absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. They close at 10:00PM on Sunday, the sign at the front said it would be 9:00PM for last seating, which sounds fair and understandable. There were only a few tables dining there so it wasn't even busy. I understand if I came here 15-20 minutes before closing, but over an hour and not busy is ridiculous. My friend got honey, garlic wings, and they were sweet and sticky, but very delicious. It's also very flavorful and crunchy. I did not like their cheese corn. Also their boneless chicken has no flavor so get some dipping sauce. My favorite thing that we ordered was definitely their Mandoo (fried dumplings). The corn cheese was solid and the creamy rice cake (dukbokki) was nice and reminded me of a creamier carbonara. Yangyum chicken: the chicken was crispy and the sauce was sweet and savory and reminiscent of a orange/general tso flavor. creamy onion chicken: this chicken dish comes boneless and topped with onions and a creamy white sauce. the white sauce was reminiscent of mayo so it must've been very heavy with mayo. It is, indeed, underground, as you have to walk down a flight of stairs to enter the space. It's kind of a grungy, divey basement atmosphere, but clean and bright. Their menu had some interesting and yummy dishes, and they seem to be well known for their fried chicken. Portions are HUGE and we ordered 3 dishes for 2 of us - easily could have shared with 2 other people. But it was fun to have variety. The fried chicken with creamy onions was delish. Our favorite though was the pork belly creamy udon. Omg, so good and unique! We also ordered the spicy rice cake, which was very spicy but delicious. My first issue with this place is the insane wait time for food. I call in my to-go orders all the time AND EVERY SINGLE TIME IVE GONE TO PICKUP MY FOOD THEY ONLY START PREPARING WHEN I GET THERE. I am a dry rub or dry and dip girl. The yangnyum sauce does soften the wings a little bit but it still had the slight crunch. The portion is about 20 wings per order. So it's a great deal for wings! This is my second time having UnderGround Kitchen, and both times exceeded expectations! For this second visit I went during a Friday night, which does get pretty busy since parking around the area can get filled very quickly. You might first get confused where the entrance is since it's right next to Shin Sung Restaurant to its left. Waiters were very attentive and provided very quick service when my friend and I got into the door and when ordering our food. Atmosphere felt very relaxed and music wasn't too loud. I got the half & half fried chicken, one half being regular fried chicken and the other being yangyum chicken, which was mildly spicy and also sweet. This paired very well with their japchae (stir fried glass) noodles on the side, even if they were both relatively savory.
