Stopped here while traveling on New Year's Day. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Restrooms were clean. I ordered a large soda and two bagels on my app. Cup and bagels were ready on counter when we arrived, bagels still warm. Diet Pepsi in stock which seems to be an issue at all the Paneras around me. I go there every time I visit Florence and it is always a terrible experience, Every single table is dirty, there is no one to take your order, they get the order wrong, the workers get mad at each other, the bathrooms are awful and have no paper towels or soap, and the drink counter is wet and soaked. read more

Went there today and a young African American man that works there that had on a black hoodie with a pink graphic on the front and black hat turned to the back came in and went to the back smelled just like marijuana which was very disgusting working around food. I avoided this place for several years due to them being unable to make my order - 'sorry, we only have egg whites' - when I got the dish; many other issues showing carelessness. Seemed like things started to turn around so my family and I started going back. 4th visit back - he place smells like a clogged toilet by the pickup bay (near an even stinkier bathroom). The men bathroom was filthy as well. Spilt drinks around the tea area. The chicken in both sandwiches were cold. The BBQ sauce was also cold. The chicken tasted like the freezer. One of the poorest excuses for a Panera I've ever patronized. Store looks fine from the outside, but once you enter it's obvious this one isn't up to Panera standards. Two clerks, no greeting. I stepped up to counter and said, "Good morning." Still, nothing. So I asked if she was ready to take my order. After an affirmative nod, I placed my order for two bagel sandwiches and one bagel with spread, to go. They put it on a plate. I had them bag it. This is absolutely the worst Panera Bread I have ever been to. I ordered half a chicken salad sandwich, a cup of soup and a cookie. My sandwich was placed on bread harder than the croutons I received for the soup. And if that wasn't enough, they dropped my bread down in the unsanitary brown bag!! This had to be the worst experience at a Panerai. We are driving down to Florida a d decided to spend the night close by. Morning came and we figured what is better then Panerai fresh bagels. We went thru the drive thru and well thats where everything went wrong. We were the only one in line and it took Suzy over 15 minutes to get our order (2 plain bagels toasted with butter, 2 cinnamon crunch toasted with walnut cream cheese 1 everything bagel with butter, one small coffee, 1 large diet Pepsi and one regular pepsi). Got to the window and another 10 minutes to confirm. So here is what we left with, 2 large black coffees 2 Pepsi, 1 everything bagel toasted no butter, 2 plain bagels not toasted with butter, 2 cinnamon crunch bagels not toasted with one regular cream cheese and one honey walnut cream cheese. Total time in the drive thru was at least 20 minutes. This was at 8am in the morning, I should have realized it was not the place to go when Chick-fil-A had a longer line. read more

My experience at this Panera Bread location was aight. Me and my family member's Tomato soup + Grilled Cheese combo was terrific and I did not experience food poisoning so that's always a plus. My other family member's salad was also good. On the other hand, the bread was very dry and not tasty. My dessert brownie was also dry on the outside and was pretty hard. The Scones were also dry. After visiting this location on a road trip on December 27, I sent the following message to the main Panera Instagram account: "Hello! Please check with your Florence, SC location about how to make autumn squash soup. It was significantly thinner than what it always is. I eat it often, and I've never seen anything like this. If it's possible to get a refund, that would be great, but honestly what I want even more is for the restaurant food/drinks to be in good condition when I want to eat there in the future. There were no lemonades in the containers and only about an inch's worth of sweet tea. The unsweetened tea was so bitter that I poured it out before I got in my car (and not because it was unsweetened tea...I often get unsweetened tea at Panera). Thanks!" The national Panera Instagram account was very responsive and said they would send the information to the franchise that owns this location and they would have the franchise contact me, but I never heard from the franchise. I messaged Covelli Enterprises a few days later and never heard from them. I don't usually write reviews, but I was so surprised by my experience that it felt necessary. This place need to close their doors permanently! The food we ordered was inedible and we visually saw fruit flies hovering the border of the lemonades and other drinks without a lid covering the drink. When it was mentioned to them one manager became defensive stating she cleaned it the night before. Really!!!! Either way it was nasty upon our visit accompanied with flies and a filthy sticky floor. Will NEVER visit this place again. They did refund our money minus the drinks. I'm not sure why that wasn't included as we didn't drink anything. It was all thrown in the garbage. The service was horrendous. I went in to place an order for 1 whole sandwich. I waited 25 minutes for my food. There was one woman making the food. There were three girls/ young women standing there doing nothing! Then a young man came and put thing in the oven. As one might expect, chain restaurants have some basic standard from location to location. There may also be an expectation of universal consistency. I mean, a Big Mac is a Big Mac and I wouldn't expect it to be delivered completely different t each time I ordered. Panera's is an outlier. Some are fantastic and some just simply fail. The one in Florence SC (which residents really looked forward to opening) is a location I would never step foot in again. We placed our order online for 5 of us and arrived as directed for pickup. Our order was not ready; the flatbread pizzas were still being prepared. Once the order was complete we drove across town to our guests home. All items were accounted for and the cold & hot items were bagged separately. This was the last good moment I remember about this order. Both of the chipotle chicken and bacon flatbread pizzas had ZERO chicken in them. The strawberries in the strawberry poppyseed salad looked as if they were leftover from the day before with wilted cut edges (not a fan of mushy food in a salad), but worst of all was the cream of chicken & wild rice soup. I actually was afraid to even taste it as I had no idea if this was something drugged out of the bottom of the sink. A member of our dinner party took the soup back along with pieces of the flatbread pizza to "express" her disappointment. Of course the manager was unavailable and the cashier looked irritated and just said "so what do you want me to do about it". They reluctantly replaced the food but the party was over and the food was a disappointment. Many different options for lunch or dinner: sandwiches, flatbreads, soups, salads & pastries. They are also have seasonal selections which is nice to have as the weather changes. The autumn squash soup is delicious. I have enjoyed the Chinese cashew chicken salad lately, and always enjoy the Fuji apple chicken salad. This location is pretty consistent with service standards, dining area kept clean and they have friendly service.
