Honestly I like Panera, but you need to hire people who know how to work a drive thru. Both times I have been here in the past 2 months, I've had to wait forever. The first time I was the first person in line, and the guy got busy making other orders and not giving me mine-I got a bagel and coffee. There were at least 6 other people making stuff in the back, but he disappeared for a good 5 minutes "helping" before I even got what I ordered. Today I waited 10 mins in the drive thru and was the second person in line. The person in front of me was already there when I pulled up and nobody was at the window and we were both waiting. Nobody has ever apologized for the wait either, and seem more annoyed. This location seriously went downhill since they moved and got a drive thru. read more

This Panera moved down the street and it's the WORST. I've been here multiple times to use the new drive thru which you'd think would be fast but it is SO SLOW. I can see the employees messing around through the drive thru window which is probably why it took so long to get my order every time I come to this location. The last time I came to this panera they put buffalo mozzarella instead of provolone on my panini which was annoying because the cheese wasn't even melted so my sandwich slid around and came apart in the container. This location is inferior to the Panera on Butterfield road by Danada in every way possible. Go to the Butterfield location. This one is usually understaffed, ordering takes far longer than it should and they constantly run out of bagels and eggs early in the morning. read more

I was just going to call the manager but why bother I've called at least twice before. I actually live closer to the Danada store but this has the drive thru. However it is the last time I will go to this location. I asked for no Mayo it's swimming in mayo. I asked for a macaroon and they said I got the last one, no macaroon. There were 3 cars in the parking lot and two cars in front of me and it took 20 minutes the kids at the window were too busy cutting up. They have also lost my office business a while ago. Large dental office where we ordered often and for staff meetings and lunch and learns, no more we call Danada or Jason's Deli in Naperville always without a problem. Panera has great good, but this location gets a zero star. I am not sure what their problem is, but they get my rapid order deliveries wrong almost EVERY time. I have spoken with the Manger once already, but I am done with this location. I just recently ordered a mac n cheese with bacon and they left off the bacon. How can you screw that order up?!?! I have to disagree with Mark B.'s review stating the drive-thru is FAST. It took them 15 minutes to give me my ONE item and there were 4 or 5 employees in the kitchen. This has happened on more than one occasion. They definitely need a crash course in efficiency from Portillo's. I've been to other Panera drive-thrus and the service was great. This place is mediocre at best. Let me start by saying my adventure started walking into this place picking up garbage in front of the register. Evidently the children working did not see it. After throwing the garbage out I go to the restroom to wash my hands and as I am walking in an employee is walking out. After washing my hands I realize there is not any towels to wipe my hands with.... I walk out and inform the same guy who walked out to the fact they were out of paper towels. As he looked at me with a blank stare I ask him if he could please refill. He said yes and I proceeded to place my order. After I paid 25 dollars for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and 2 bowls of soup I returned to the bathroom to wash my hands. I was shocked that the bumbling employee still had yet to fill the dispenser and yet he was now making my sandwiches while checking his cell. Each sandwich was made one at a time and this entire process took 10 minutes. The place was not busy at all. Management get control of your restaurant and watch what is going on. I have been to this new location twice. Both times, my husband and I have ordered some of our favorites, and received very skimpy meals, compared to the old location (which we frequented often). In my pick-two, I received the smallest half sandwich ever. Flavor and freshness were good, but I was still hungry after finishing the meal! My husband said he had barely any chicken on his sandwich! What gives? Won't return to this location again. Although I added a tip when paying at the order counter, I wish I hadn't. I'm normally a fan of Panera, especially the wonderful "Panera Cares" locations they offer downtown Chicago. (Feeding those in need) However, I went to the new Panera in Glen Ellyn today and unfortunately could tell there was a lot of tension between the staff. There were not any staff members with smiles like they wanted to be there. I felt bad for some of the staff who looked like they were trying to do their best, however some of the kitchen staff were extremely bossy towards those trying to help the customers with wrong|missing orders. Some days can be better than others, but just remember to smile and have everyone feel welcomed! Hope to see some smiling faces next time I am there. read more

I will start off by saying that I love Panera in general, but there must be something about this location. I don't usually go to this location, since it is not the closest one to my house, but I was right by it due to grocery shopping, so I ordered for rapid pick-up. This was probably only my 2nd time stopping at this location, but I should've learned my lesson from last time. Just like the first time, they messed up my order. I'm not talking about a slight mess up, but a TOTAL mess up. For example, they put in both chicken salad and regular chicken into my salad. Who does that? The rest of it was basically just lettuce. Must've forgotten about the several other things that are supposed to go in there. Rapid pick up is supposed to be just that. I shouldn't have to stop and look through my entire order to ensure that it is correct. Apparently, I'm not the only one that has had issues with this location. This location seems to have lower reviews on Yelp than other locations. I will not be visiting this location again. read more

Came at noon and the place was packed. (This is the new location) I walk with a cane and so we gave up on the line and found a table. Tried to order by phone, but couldn't get a signal and my phone is old. We were treated perfectly by Amanda, who was busy but offered to place our order for us, and then charged us nothing because we couldn't get the site to come up! Cheerful, professional and kind! This Panera needs help the service is inaccurate and the serving sizes are skimpier than other Panera locations. They are in attentive to accuracy of order . Last night my husband myself and daughter ordered. Husband tried new quinoa bowl it carry out what a joke it was all broth and kale for over 9 $ cost. My salad Thai chicken had very little chicken . Bread and Butter ... yes, Bread AND Butter ... God forbid if you want butter with your bread (from Panera BREAD) - especially if you are in the drive thru! I specifically asked that they remember to give me butter this time, because they "forgot" last time. Guess what they didn't give me again?? I LOVE PANERA! On the contrary, this one sucks. The food is fine, but the customer service is just not as good as others I have been to. The one in Bloomingdale is much much better, and for some reason about $0.50 cheaper on their bagel packs after taxes.....they are both in DuPage, so that's odd. Anyhow, I go to Panera quite often so that I can get a bagel pack to bring in to work for my drivers. I always ask them if they can cut them in the slicer, and then use a knife to cut them in half the other way as well, so we can have four parts to the bagel and they will go farther. Not one Panera has ever had a problem with this, and the lady at this one had no problem saying she would either. She says it will take a few minutes longer though. I said no problem! so, about 5 other people get their order ahead of me, and then I finally get mine. The lady puts in TWO knives and like 3 napkins....for an entire bagel pack with two tubs of cream cheese. And she did nto cut them in half as I requested......The Panera in bloomingdale gives PLENTY of napkins and knives with theirs, and always serves with a smile. I've never written a yelp review, let alone a negative one, but this Panera location was NOT good. At every turn was just a bigger disappointment. I walked in and the employees were joking about drinking tequila on the job. I can take a good joke but it's very unprofessional in front of customers. I waited a bit for my food before heading to the restroom which my shoes stuck to the floors of. When I got back I expected to only wait a couple more minutes because there were only a couple of people in the dining room. Though, I sat there for a solid 15 minutes WATCHING my food sit on the counter getting cold. It was only when the COOK behind the counter realized what was going on that I got my food, but not until he took his sweet time getting to my table. Altogether, needs discipline and a little pep in their step. Pretty sad considering the food wouldn't have been that bad if it was even slightly warm. read more

I like to go to Panera with friends just to hang out and chat. My very favorite thing here is the tomato and mozzerella salad. They changed it up and put more greens in it which is probably a really good thing, my cholesterol thanks them. My daughter loves the broccoli and cheddar soup. This is a nice middle of the road place to go when you don't want to spend a ton of money. read more

Loved the bbq chicken salad but VERY disappointed to see that Panera is cutting corners. Would go 1-2 times a week for this salad. Sorry, Panera, you have lost a customer. Last year they cut out the tortilla strips from this salad and now they have cut out the black beans! How cheap! It's only beans, which are full of protein! To cut them and pour on tons of cheap, filler corn is not a wise choice. It seems that you are cutting corners and getting rid of nutrition by replacing the beans with tons of worthless corn! This location has the slowest cashiers I've ever seen, anywhere, ever. The one lady I have gotten 3 times now is quite rude and snippy towards me every time. The line is always to the door and tables are always disheveled and unkempt. Today, I decided to do Rapid Pickup and place my order online. Best decision ever!!! Didn't have to wait in line, deal with my usual rude cashier, or eat in there. I walked in and like water in the middle of the desert... there was my bag with my name on it waiting for me! That's right, I was actually in and out within 10 seconds; it was lovely. My order was correct, still hot, and delicious, too. I recommend everyone do online ordering at this location. My recommendation to the restaurant is to train your cashiers to be more friendly and efficient. Oh and also invest in self-checkout kiosks like all the other locations have. read more

I have now had 2 bad take out experiences here. the first time I thought ok they're busy and would give them another chance but this is the 2nd time something like this has happened and I'm not going to be returning. and it's careless mistakes that are being made. 1st time I went through the drive through and it came out relatively fast. but when I got to my work, they forgot the bread bowl that they upcharged me for AND silverware. the 2nd time I went inside thinking maybe it will be different. not the case. I checked to see if they remembered the bread for the bread bowl and the silverware which they did so i left. but when I got to work, they didn't put the dressing or napkins in the bag so I had a salad without dressing and have to make an extra trip to go find some dressing that they forgot. I'm extremely disappointed cause so far, every time I have gone, something is forgotten. good food, just don't get take out cause most likely they will forget something. read more

This is about the new location in Glen Ellyn, particularly the drive-thru. This Panera location is in our office complex, so I tried their drive-thru right after they re-opened December 15th. The first drive thru, just a coffee went fine, after that the next three times, including today, have been awful! Yesterday it took 20 minutes for my co-worker to pick-up an order she called in! Yesterday and today it took me a ridiculous amount of time to get through their drive-thru. I saw at least three cars leave because the line hardly moves! Anyway, today it cost $17.13 for a pick two with barely no soup in the cup half full, half a sandwich, mac and cheese and a small tea! LOL. At least if you're going to charge top dollar, fill the cups, and do it with some amount of efficiency. I called to complain and good luck trying to get through to talk to someone. Their phone number rings and rings and then goes to busy! They could do very well at this new location if they knew just how and what to do!!! I would advise people to go across the street for a nice sit down meal at Danby's Station, Nick's the owner there, and he has been in business for years.
