We got the dumplings, scallion pancakes and the Dan Dan noodles. For the dumplings, the filling was juicy and full of big chunks of pork. I prefer the boiled version vs. pan fried. The skin was a little on the thinner side but still good. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice numbing spice and had a lot of ground pork. The scallion pancakes were cut into perfectly snackable sizes and were crispy and fragrant. Would highly recommend getting takeout from here or dine in. Chef June's Dumplings is such a quaint little spot and made for a really relaxed, enjoyable meal. It wasn't busy when we went, which gave it a calm, low key vibe where you can actually sit and take your time. We started with the triple delight pan fried dumplings and these were definitely a highlight. The bottoms had that perfect golden crisp while the tops stayed soft and chewy. Each one was juicy and flavorful, and you could tell they were made fresh. The chicken mini juicy buns were also really good. The wrappers were soft and delicate with a nice burst of broth inside, making them super comforting and easy to keep going back for. The pork belly gua bao was another standout. The bun was soft and fluffy, and the pork belly was tender and savory with a nice balance from the toppings. It was simple but really well executed. For noodles, we had the beef shank noodle soup with both beef shank and braised beef, and this dish was packed with protein. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the broth had a rich, savory depth that made it feel really hearty without being too heavy. We also tried the biang biang noodles. On their own, they were a little mild in flavor, but once we added some of the seasonings from the table like chili oil and sauces, it really brought the dish to life. The place was clean and plenty of lot parking. Staff kind and service quick. I liked the option of homemade dumpling and noodles. The ambiance is standard decent music playlist . I ordered chicken dumplings pan fried. The fry on dumpling was nice. The dumpling was a little thicker than I expected but okay as the chicken lacked flavor or maybe a pinch of salt. I also ordered Schezaun beef noodle with beef shank. It was pretty good but I tried to add some chilli oil to it and it didn't add flavor just a little more heat. I would have liked a bit of salt or garlic in it but otherwise it was cool. Again, fresh noodle versus instant is always ideal. We went for dine in on a Saturday night around 7, and ended up being the only one of two tables in the restaurant- I'm guessing that this place does most of its business as take out. My husband and I had lunch at Chef June's recently, and the food was AMAZING! We had two kinds of Gua bao (pork belly is definitely the winner), I had mapo tofu with meat with steamed rice (from the lunch menu) and my husband has tonkotsu ramen. They were all delicious, so we finished everything - not even a drop of soup or grain of rice were left on our plates! The service was fast and friendly. It's a cozy place but plenty of tables. First time here with a huge party of 18. Luckily we make reservations before arrived as the restaurant has very limited capacity and we arrived in an hour before closing time. There is only one server working at that time, so I took the initiative to take down 18 people's order then pass it to her to make her work easier. The food came out around 15-20mins after order. So we are unable to take photos for dumplings.... The dumplings are damn delicious either boiled dumplings or pan fried dumplings.... Even children also like the taste. A follow up review of Chef June and is it possible that the 2nd time is even better than the first? Holy Moly! We got there tonight a Monday night at 6pm and it was quite slow but people starts to show up soon after. Hubby and I ordered the Szechuan won ton and it was spicy but in the Mala way so it's not too spicy but it numb your tongue perfectly! It was so good. Then we shared the Dan Dan Mein and same thing. It is a bit spicy, no soup with thick Shanghai noodles, peanuts, pork, bean sprouts and some scallions. It was just enough spice to make you say ahhhhhhh oh so good. We also shared a beef shank noodle soup and this one was NOT spicy. Finally something not spicy because I want to drink the soup and we finished EVERYTHING. Not even a drop of soup is left. A friend and I checked this place out recently. It's a no-frills spot in a little shopping strip, but the food was quite tasty! It wasn't crowded at lunchtime on the day we came. We ordered pork mini juicy buns (their name for soup dumplings/Xiao long bao), chicken pan fried potstickers, and as an appetizer the pork belly gua bao. I really liked the flavor and texture of the gua bao; the filling combined pork belly, scallion, carrots and peanut for a varied taste, and the bun part was pillowy without being gummy. The potstickers were tasty and crispy with a lot of filling. The soup dumplings were savory and flavorful; it's just the first time I've never been given a spoon to eat this dish! (Usually the dumplings are scalding hot inside so you don't down them in one: you hold the dumpling in a spoon, make a hole in it to slurp out the soup, then eat the dumpling.) So that was awkward. Dumplings are still juicy and full of flavor. Spicy broth is not that spicy but very enjoyable. Beef shank and braised beef are both very tender and delicious. We finally decided to come to Chef June's after it came highly recommended by a friend of ours. The store itself is pretty nondescript and in a strip mall. The decor inside also is plain. There's a good amount of seating but not great for big groups. We came at 5pm on a Sunday so we were able to be seated immediately. We ordered the Pan-Fried Triple Delight dumplings as well as Pan-Fried Pork and Napa Cabbage dumplings. I wished for a bit more flavor in the fillings. The sauce we got was black vinegar. We also ordered the Biang Biang Noodle. The noodles themselves were very good. I had hoped for some more bok choy as we only got half of a baby bok choy. Chef June's Dumplings makes handmade noodles and offers some solid Chinese food in Westmont. I love a good Xiao Long Bao (XLB) and the soup in these give me that heart warming, comforting feel. I love that they also have Taiwanese beef noodle soup. This soup uses homemade noodles, and they're good. The noodles would have been perfect if they were cooked less, but that's just me being a perfectionist. The broth was serviceable as it's missing the typical body that fills out this bowl. Service was friendly, fast, and clean. Price is about right, and this spot is located in a plaza with plenty of parking available. All in all, Chef June's Dumplings seems to specialize in their namesake and setting your expectations there would be the way to go. read more

Tried a bunch of different eats: potstickers/dumplings, soup dumplings (juicy buns), zha jiang noodles, Mongolian beef, salt and pepper pork chop, and fried rice. Enjoyed the potstickers and soup dumplings as well as the zha jiang noodles--will definitely be back to try the other handmade noodle dishes they have. For the stir fry entrees I ordered the lunch portions so it came with half an egg and rice and they were ok, nothing to get excited over. So the place is quaint and both Chef June and Yanan are super friendly and welcoming. We just found the place on Yelp so we ordered every dumpling pan fried on the menu along with both pork and chicken soup dumplings. I also wanted to try the beef shank noodle soup and Yanan was right about the shank being very tender and tasty. All the pan fried dumplings were good but will probably pass on the veggie ones. The triple delight and beef with scallions are my favorite. The mini juicy soup dumplings are essential for each visit and the chicken was surprisingly more favorable for me. There was only two of us but we ordered 9 dishes and finished all of them except a few veggie dumplings. What a find! Chef June is the owner and chef. She worked in Michelin star restaurants and it shows. She's Chinese. Half the menu is homemade dumplings with the option of having them steamed or fried (pot stickers). She makes her own thin dumpling wrappers and fresh noodles for the noodle dishes. The other half of the menu is the traditional Chinese dishes you'd expect. We order several things to try a lot. We leaned towards more pork dishes because that's what we like but there are chicken, shrimp, beef and vegetarian dishes and soups too. Three of us shared a big bowl of won ton soup as a starter. Lovely broth and delicious pork won tons. Steamed triple delight dumplings (shrimp, pork and?). Beef and scallion fried dumplings/pot stickers. Pork mini juicy buns which are soup dumplings/XLB. A little pork belly gua bao sandwich. Zia-jiang noodles with ground pork, vegs and homemade noodles. The chef came out to check on us. Humble and gracious.
