Manager went the extra mile for me on a delivery order. My directions were limited by the 120 character limit, and so were not detailed enough for the driver, which is why I included my phone number in the directions, which the driver did not use. The link and e-mail about the delivery only included the driver's first name and last initial, and no phone number. So I called the Groton Panera location, and spoke to the manager. While it is not their normal procedure, I explained that I had no contact information for the delivery service, and further I had not picked the delivery service, I had placed an order with Panera's web site, and I viewed delivery issues to be Panera's issue. She explained she'd contact the delivery service and see what she could do. The delivery service contacted me, and was able to lead me to where my order had been left. Excellent customer service all around, other than the initial failure to call me by the driver. But when I reviewed my delivery directions, I understand why he left my order where he did, and so I can't really blame him, either. read more

This Panera ALWAYS has sufficient food choice allocations Even into the evening hours! It drives me crazy that Waterford Panera often runs out of bagels or a particular bread for sandwich selection. I have actually left Waterford to drive over the dang bridge to get my signature two crunchy cinnamon bagels, or my tuna on honey wheat bread! Which is not terribly convenient, but hey, I know a good thing when I EXPERIENCE it! Groton Panera gets it RIGHT!! PLUS! They have amazing associates, who are super well trained and charmingly CHEERFUL! C'mon people, if I am going out to grab a meal or snack, I do not want to see a grumpy/or cool faced order taker....(Yah, that would be Waterford, sigh) Anyway, kudos to Jaileah, and James, who literally were over the top human beings on a recent visit there: SO awesome, cheerful and kind!! I was in this place today at about 4:45pm. It is filthy and disgusting. Either it is not a corporate-owned Panera, or the manager is lazy, incompetent, and worthless. The first thing I noticed when walking in the door is that the place is filthy. Grime, hand prints, and film on everything, including windows, counters, etc. I tried to get a look into the kitchen area before ordering, but I couldn't see as clearly as I would have liked. My large iced coffee came out with at least an inch of "space" for crap like milk. They didn't even ask if I wanted the space. Then my order came out, and the bag had greasy hand prints all over it. Seriously vile. I looked into the bag, and found that the sandwich packaging also had greasy prints all over it. I pulled the soup out of the bag, leaving the bag, sandwich, etc. on the counter, and I began to walk out, at which time I was able to get a better look into the kitchen area. What did I see? A girl handling food, then touching her face, then going back to handling food without changing her gloves! NASTY! DISGUSTING! VILE! Gloves are to be changed frequently, and under no damn circumstances are you to touch any part of your filthy, skeezy body without changing your gloves! Fucking vile! This is one of the most disgusting places from which I have EVER in my life attempted to order lunch. And then I opened the soup after I jumped into my car, and guess what? It's BARELY warm! Unbelievable! A God damn embarrassment to Panera. VILE! Update: The soup tastes "off." And I know my Panera soup. read more

The Panera bread in Groton was most unhelpful. I called in because my internet was down and they informed me it would be 45 minutes! If I ordered online which I could not do at that time, it would have been almost immediate. I explained the situation, was ready to order and pay immediately but they refused to help. 45 minutes!!! Was in tonight 27 December. I had ordered rapid pick up online and when I arrived it wasnt ready. I was informed the bread I chose was out. No big deal to me...despite that, the staff went above and beyond to make up for it. They were all so friendly, and when I got home I discovered they really hooked up my order. They were great! This is by far the panara that I prefer in the area. It's clean and easy to find a table, which is always important. I've been at various times of day and never has it felt chaotic there. I've mostly been happy with my meals, three times iveI had nonfood items in my soup or sandwich... Which they've addresses by always refunding my money and letting me order without paying. Bad customer service. I called to order take out, I asked them if it would be ok to order since we'd be arriving close to their closing time. The girl that answered sound clearly annoyed, if it was too late for them, they should have just said that it was too late. Instead she proceeded to take one item of my order and all of a sudden transferred the call to another person who may have been the manager. I started ordering again and all of a sudden this new person said that they couldn't hear me well, of course and then she simply hanged up. That was very rude from them, all they had to do was that it was too late, sorry. These staff should get some training on manners and customer service. I will not be back to this location ever again and DO NOT recommend it to anybody. read more

They have always been so very helpful, going out of their way to make sure I know exactly what all of my options are (I'm vegan). We figured out how to make me one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and the girl gave me a detailed receipt so I would always know how to order. I've been in Krystal burgers that were nicer than this establishment. First of all the employees all lounge around and yell across the restaurant at each other about personal matters. There were no straws and when told none were put out. The floor had trash all over it and we were in of 4 customers in the place. Most importantly, if I'm going to pay 30 dollars for a sandwich and soup for two people, my sandwich bread had better not be soggy and room temp, and my French onion had better have cheese and not be Luke warm. Exactly what you'd expect from this type of place - nothing particularly good or bad, just okay. It's a bit pricey for the quality of the food, because you can tell most things have just been reheated in a microwave or that they came frozen to begin with. Most things are just simply OK here; my one gripe is that my grilled cheese sandwich had almost no cheese on it. Really, how hard is a grilled cheese? But again, I am fairly certain it came frozen and was just popped in a conveyor oven. Good for kids and groups. read more

I usually love Panera but this one is just ok. I just brought a sandwich home, payed the premium signature price for turkey, bacon & avocado. There is one piece of avocado about the size of a dime on my sandwich, along with yellow and white lettuce, no green leaves here. I absolutely LOVE this location. The people (at least the Monday night shift) are awesome. Always smiling, always nice. They remember you after your 2nd or 3rd trip in. The place is always clean and shiny. They have a small fireplace that is on during the winter that you can sit right next to. Its got the standard Panera goodness but I love going here. read more

Went to this panera bread with my in-laws today. Someone needs to train the cashiers on how to take orders. When a 79 year old women has to ask for everything to be repeated, stating, "I'm sorry. I can't hear what you're saying." Don't you think the cashier should SPEAK UP? I'm 25 years younger than my m-i-l, and I couldn't hear the cashier either! If it's acoustics, fix it. As I sit here and eat my sandwich I've come to the sudden realization that everyone around me are anorexic metro sexual young men in their mid twenties and well dressed old people. The sandwich is good but nothing special. If I was gay or old I'd come here again. My recommendation to you other big burly dudes out there is to just go to subway.
