Ambiance is horrible in the Portage and Kalamazoo location. I came in at 6:30am, and they have loud music blaring. No one wants to hear dance music when they are having coffee this early in the morning. Background music should be exactly that, background, which means barely audible. Also it is 17 degrees outside and they have the air conditioning running. Maybe they should separate the heating and cooling for the kitchen area from the dining areas so that they don't have to freeze the customers out. Everyone has to sit in here with their winter coats on inside the restaurant. This is such a nice cafe/restaurant, and a few subtle changes could make this such a pleasant environment. That MANAGER at the S.Westnedge location needs a serious ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT, then FIRED. I received a $54 gift of sweet rolls, bagels,plates, napkins etc. TWO DAYS after my husband's sudden death. It arrived WITHOUT A CARD OF ANY TYPE. I had NO IDEA WHO TO THANK FOR THIS THOUGHTFUL GESTURE. I called and spoke with her and she essentially said, tough shit. I asked if she could check the name on the card that was used and she she replied "nope impossible ". 2 months later I found out the sender and she informed me that she SPECIFICALLY asked that a card be enclosed and that it had happened to her before. read more

Food was good until something sharp in the sandwich PUNCTURED MY TONGUE!! Tasted blood immediately then spit out the food. It was alarming because it was a lot of blood coming out of my mouth. I made the manager aware and he gave me a coupon for a free meal. I gave it back to him and got a refund. I will not be back. I had panera for the first time today. The food was hot and the order was accurate. Not sure if this is part of the usual routine, but i found it sort of odd that the pieces of french bread were just tossed loose into the bag. Didn't feel entirely sanitary. Can I give less than one star? My more than $10 sandwich was so extremely skimpy that I originally gave it one star. But then I bit into it and the focaccia was so hard I couldnt even chew it. Love this place for sure!! I orderd turkey apple sandwiches and my Husband ordered chicken salad sandwich. All dishes come with sides of your choice: apple, chips, bread! We chose apples and chips. I rate all dishes 5/5 stars! What i loved the most, that a coustmer has the option to order from the phone app while waiting on the table. The Good: Fantastic cafe style atmosphere. They provide contactless ordering through screen displays on the main lobby. People there are friendly and the dining area is clean and neat. I keep coming back for their Cinnamon Bagel, sliced, toasted with cream cheese (make sure u get it that way). Good hangout spot for a group of friends 4-6, a date, or a meeting. The eh..: They have plenty of staff members but unfortunately, it takes them long to prepare our food (even when no other waiting costumers are around, but we give them the benefit of the doubt considering the high demand on deliveries and pickup orders) The Better: They have plenty of parking spots available and my favorite part about this branch is their front lightroom dining area. DISGUSTED BY THE SERVICE I ordered a curbside pickup for fucking soup because I'm super ill and I just wanted soup. We'll I get there check in and there's absolutely no parking the entire lot was full so I went threw the drive though and asked vey nicely if i could get my food at the window instead they said no I parked in handicap for a second because was other parking was there. The damn blue shirt lady came out and said so snarkely that I can't park in the handicap spot like no shit lady but when there's no parking and you wont let me get the food from the window I have too! The food was okay. We can around 11am. My son ordered a cinnamon roll which was hard and dried out. I ordered a yogurt parfait and a cinnamon crunch bagel and both were great. Staff were polite and we got our food quickly. On our way out we stopped in to the bathroom to find they are infested with bugs. We looked them up and they're silverfish bugs? With summer approaching, we were not ready to give up enjoying the seasonal Strawberry Poppyseed Salad with Chicken offering on the menu at Panera. As some of you who read my thread know, we had entirely given up on the Westnedge restaurant because of its gross incompetence, but this salad is extra yummy and we knew there were other Panera restaurants around. Some of the same problems that I previously noted at the Westnedge restaurant still apply: this is the only chain in which it is imperative to check to make certain the food order is correct. There is no other restaurant in the world in which I would insist that this is an absolute must, whether you eat in or take out. But it seems to happen less often here. We still have problems with the cleanliness of floors and tables and sometimes I think they just let that stuff go. But I do appreciate the sunroom and outside seating, though in the end you're just sitting that much closer to West Main than the customers inside. We still love what they sell as bagels (they are not "real" bagels but they are delicious anyway). Bakery items are otherwise obscenely priced. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Don't come here if you are hoping for a low stress easy dinner after work because the people who work here are too dumb to get an order correct. THREE times now I have ordered a CHICKEN Cesar salad after work for rapid pick up. Pretty simple order, not sure how you mess it up. I live 20 minutes way, get home and realize that y'all have forgotten my chicken AGAIN. How hard is this? It's a chicken Cesar, literally lettuce, cheese and chicken. I'm honestly beside myself at this level of stupidity both by the employees and management. Management doesn't even care to TRY to fix the problem. I've addressed it every single time and they still aren't even using the spot on the receipt where they are supposed to write the employees name who checked the bag so that when this happens they know who to speak to. There is just zero excuse for this. Zero. I will never be back. After working 15 hours today all I wanted to do was eat my dinner and that was destroyed by Panera's incompetence for the 3rd and last time. I ate there today with my granddaughter. I was there around 4:15 on a Sunday. It was not busy. I did not have to wait in line. My complaint is the filthy dining room. Every table was dirty. I had to clean one before I sat down. Most also had dirty plates piled on them. The floor was also noticibly dirty. I can overlook the bored and unpersonable cashier who couldn't crack a semblance of a smile and the ten minutes I had to wait for a half salad and sandwich. I cannot overlook the filty conditions. I did notice that several employees did walk in and one started to bus the tables after I was there about 15 minutes (shift change?). I enjoy the healthy menu choices but I cannot tolerate a dirty dining room. I doubt I'll be back. read more

Panera has the best tomato soup ever! The creamy texture is perfect. They have decent sandwiches and salads as well. I usually get the pick 2 combo and get a soup and a sandwich. This location is pretty big and open so I'd probably come back to study at some point. read more

We sat at a cleaner table and noticed at least 10 dirty unbussed tables. The women's bathroom looked like a truck stop bathroom. Upon waiting a good 26 minutes, I asked where our food was (a half salad and soup for Me, and a half sandwich for Mom) another 5 minutes and our food arrived. What can I say about Panera bread that most people don't already know. If you've been to one Panera bread you've been to them all. The "you pick 2" options is the way to go and I usually go for the tomato bisque and steak arugula sandwich. Nice feature they do have is the self serve kiosk some it speeds up the line. read more

I have ordered from my Panera app for years. In the last 6 months every single order I receive is wrong! When I call to report this I'm told I will receive gift certificates that are never received or the phone is never answered or my email is never replied to! So ridiculous!!
