I used to love Panera. For awhile it was my favorite spot to grab a bite. Went there yesterday and we ordered panini sandwiches and French onion soup. It was terrible! The fruit punch was severely watered down. The apples were bruised, tiny, and unedible. The soup was the worst. Instead of a nice broth with cheese and flavorful onions it was like a thick gravy with croutons. It was nasty. This place has gone downhill. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

We have been regulars here until a couple weeks ago. We ordered the normal grilled cheese sandwich for our two year old daughter and we noticed she kept chewing and chewing on her piece of sandwich. Then she spit out plastic! We opened it up and the cheese was still partially wrapped in plastic! (to go) When we contacted the manager, they apologized and asked for our address. Panera sent us a $6 gift certificate so we can go back and have our daughter eat more plastic! Oh yea, this place is a real winner! NOT! Keep an eye out for plastic! Also, a couple years back, before I had Yelp, I ordered a Italian combo sandwich and noticed my lettuce had eggshells on it, when I looked there was something that looked like bird poop. I took it to the manager, she quickly took it, dumped it in the trash, made me another sandwich on the house and gave me one of each dessert they had out. Love the food here. Try the Cuban sandwich, one of my favorites. As far as the service, I have never had the issues that others have noted. The service isn't superior, but it's never been bad either. Placed in my list of reliable places to study. Spacious, many sources of outlet, and perfect table sizes for individuals to sit without feeling like they're hogging seat. Lots of people come and go in this location, yet staff does a great job sustaining cleanliness. Service and food quality great as well. Came here on a weekday for lunch with a group of 10 - don't do it - it's super hard to find tables! Never been to Kent Station, but this Panera is hopping at lunch. Parking - lots - if you've never been to Kent Station, it's kinda like U-Village but not as crowded and not as many "fancy" boutiques. Service is average - reminds me of McDonalds, but just slightly more upscale...hmmm wonder why? Food is the same as other Paneras. But comparing this place to other sandwich/deli joints, I think the portion size is a little small. Got the grilled cheese and French onion soup - small grilled cheese - my 7 year old eats twice that much and he's not a big eater. Had the Steak Panini warmed up. Presentation was nice but the steak was pink and extremely chewy. Regretted the decision immediately after first bite. It was my lunch hour so I powered through half and moved to the chips and the up sale of a cookie. I wanted to read and study on lunch hour and of course the internet didn't work. We ordered $40 worth of food and it was all awful. Sandwiches were NOT made to standard. I ordered a bacon turkey bravo and they forgot the Gouda cheese. My mom ordered the steak and white cheddar and it was burnt to hell and didn't have the red onions on it. So they remade it and it was just as bad, just not burnt. Customer service was non existent. We asked for sides of mayo and chipotle mayo and they forgot them as well. I'm usually not one to bitch but the manager didn't attempt to make the moment right. I tried this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The location was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful when I had questions. I stopped in for lunch and got the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. I had the wild rice soup and it was really delicious, so was the turkey sandwich. I couldn't resist trying one of their cherry Danishes and that was delicious as well. The prices were on the high side, but the quality and flavor of the food here is top-notch. I love the you pick two combos. Just the right amount of food. DO NOT come here if an event is going on at the showare center. Its really annoying and they get cleaned out of a lot of their stuff. I come here for lunch before hockey games since the location is awesome right across the street from the Kent showare center. (Go Thunderbirds!!) They have "ok" soup. Okay atmosphere. It is kind of like Starbucks inside... But, the food is served on plastic trays that remind you of hospital food. The food itself is okay. I have the soup a couple times and been satisfied with it. Today I had the french onion soup which was good and also had a artichoke chicken spinach panini and didn't finish it all, wasn't that impressed. It was "ok". Their actual "bread" (the place is supposed to be famous for bread right? Or am I missing something???) was hard and uneatable. Neither me or my son at the roll that came with our meal because he said, "I can't eat hard bread with my teeth mom." haha. Enough said. My dad raves about this place and comes here all the time so I guess I expected more. It is a chill place, that seriously has great potential if the right management took over the chain... My favorite is their cream of chicken & wild rice soup in soudough bread bowl, yet still comes w/ a french baguette. A great delicious meal on its own! This is one of my favorite restaurants right now. Awesome prices, delicious vegan-friendly options, nice causal setting, and right by my college campus. I twice got something on my food that I asked to be taken off but I realize it's just a communication error and they always correct it right when I ask, so that doesn't make it any worse for me. Favorite salad was the strawberry poppyseed without chicken until they took it off the menu after summertime. My favorite soup is the black bean, it's so yummy and comforting, and I also love the garden vegetable soup with no pesto. Also, how can you go wrong with sourdough? I've always enjoyed going to a Panera Bread, because I love their food.... and this location is no exception. They always have great bagels, and I love the different meats, cheeses, etc.. that you can get there. The jalepano cheese bagel is great. The asiago cheese bagel is also another one of my favorites. The staff is friendly and fun. The atmosphere is nice for simple/casual dining. My only complaint (and this isn't against Panera)..... our last experience there (yesterday) was a little unpleasant, because of one person. This guy was sitting at a table, 2 over from us. He had a laptop open, and was on his cell phone.... with ear pieces in both ears. He was speaking so loud, I could hear him more than I could hear my wife, sitting directly across from me. I asked him to not talk so loud and he ignored me. So, we got the manager, who handled it. Seriously.... no one else wants to be a part of your damn conversation. Panera is one of my favorite spots. It's a little more expensive than your average Subway or Quiznos, but the breads are baked in house and they have a pretty good soup selection. This location gets very busy at lunch time. Don't let the line deceive you, last time I was there the line was clear to the front door, it probably took about 5 minutes to get through which wasn't too bad. There was pleanty of seating so we didn't have any problems finding somehwere. It's a decent place, worth checking out. If it matters to anybody they sell Pepsi products and make fresh brewed iced tea. read more

Despite being close to the casa, I don't come to this one very often. I think it's because I do most of my errands and such a little further north. But in the times I have come here, it's been alright. Service isn't anything exceptional nor terrible that makes it worthy to mention. I think that the food here is the same as other locations I've been to, for the most part. I believe the fianc has mentioned this location doesn't have something compared to the Renton location he would typically go to. (Sorry, can't recall what it was! I think it was a soup or something). Curse you, You PICK 2! It's that hook (and the membership rewards thing) that bring me back. A slightly guilty pleasure, Panera is. They run a deal where you can pick two items from different parts of their menu for a combo price (soup + salad, sandwich + soup, soup + soup, etc.) They have "ok" food and atmosphere. As someone else noted it is kind of like Starbucks inside. I have figured out the lure that brings people to Panera. It allows us to enjoy the richness and mystique of airline food without the bothersome TSA groping! I have found their bread to be lacking in flavor and their baked goods often stale. Coffee is consistently fresh though. Others I know rave about this place and come here all the time. My first time at Panera Bread and it wasn't too bad. I thought Mary was great. As she rung me up she was very informative about the menu and the "pick 2" deals. She gave me a point card to sign up online and I was fairly happy. I ordered the 1/2 Bacon, tomato grilled cheese & BBQ chicken mac & cheese which came with either bread, chips or an apple. I also ordered an Iced caramel latte. I took my buzzer to my table and 5 minutes later my food and beverage was delivered. Everything was tasty and hot. Drink had a great amount of caffeine. I waited patiently for my food and to my surprised the salad come out very small and some of the pieces were wilted. The pitabread was the only highlight of my lunch. She rolled her eyes at me. To make matters worse she rang up my order wrong and in hindsight never read it back to me. Another associate helped me in getting readjusted and was super kind! However, my name was never called for my order I had to inquire whether this or that bag was mine. When I opened my bag, my order was still incorrect but having dealt with such a poor attitude and service I figured third time wouldn't be the charm. Really disappointed as I love Panera! I come here 2-3 times a week. Food is the same as any other Panera bread. I get the broccoli soup in a bread bowl along with a Greek salad. The soup is really hot and could use a little more broccoli. The salad was lacking dressing, but after I noted that to them they added more dressing. What differentiates this Panera from the Tukwila one that I normally go to is the people (employees). The manager that was working today (Bryce) was really nice, courteous, thoughtful and pretty legit. I would rate this 2.5 stars for take out and 4 stars for dine in service. It's Panera, the food is consistent, tastes good, and more healthy than some of the alternatives for a quick lunch. I use the rapid pick-up a lot. I *love* the ease of ordering rapid pick-up on line and by the time I drive there it's ready. That is awesome when you have a 30 min lunch. About 30% of the time my order is correct and well made. If you call and let them know that there is a mistake they are really good at making sure it's resolved. Which is great. *But* it shouldn't be a situation where there is such a high amount of failure. I've ordered salads where one or more of the components was left off the salad (hard boiled egg, chicken, etc). I've had orders where there were items missing from the order. This has happened a *numerous* times. I've learned to check to make sure that everything that I've ordered is in the bag before I leave. Today was unfortunately another fail. I ordered an Italian combo sandwich: no turkey, no ham, no salami, extra steak, and extra swiss on ciabatta bread. Basically a steak sandwich with red onions, lettuce, tomato and swiss. The lettuce was slimy and see-through, probably from being frozen at one point, there was just a few pieces of steak, not enough for "normal" let alone the 'extra' that I paid an additional $3.50 for. There have been many times where I've received my order either incorrect or poorly made and just eaten it without calling Panera to get it fixed. There's been several times where I have called in and asked for a replacement or refund. But today was pretty much the last straw. This is sandwich making, not rocket science so I'm not sure why it's so difficult to get it right. I will say that the few times I've dined in, the service was fine and the food was prepared correctly. For the life of me, I don't understand why making food for take-out is such a challenge compared for making food for people dining in. I don't understand why they can't get this situation figured out. It's decent food at a decent price. If you go there for the rapid pick-up service, my advise is to not only check your order to make sure it's all there but to also unwrap the items to make sure they're made correctly. If I go back, it's what I'll be doing. **UPDATE** I did go into Panera the day I wrote the original review and spoke at length with the new manager. He agreed that the sandwich was sub par. He was very nice and listened to my concerns and gave me gift certificate. I appreciate his gesture and taking the time to listen to my concerns. read more

Constant disappointment. I keep going here because of the convenience, but every single time, I have a reason to complain. My sandwiches have never been neat, there is always at least one thing missing from my order. The last two times I ordered sandwiches, I literally deconstructed them and built them back myself because it looked like a 3 year old slapped it together. How do you get mustard on all sides of the bread. I really think all the staff is just really lazy, they never seem under staffed or overly busy but everything looks rushed. I love their food BUT most the time I order ahead of time (rapid pick-up) so I can just pick up my food and leave and I don't have to wait in line during lunch rush, specially because it takes me 10 to 15 minutes to get here plus driving back to work. When I get there most of the time my food is not ready or I'm missing something. Also their pastas are too salty (tortellini alfredo, chicken tortellini, etc). I love Panera Bread. I really do. Every once in awhile I can get the BF to take me there for lunch. The food is always fresh and warm. There is too much on the menu to choose from so I tend to repeat my meals here. I haven't ever tried any of the tempting fabulous pastries that are sitting there at the counter staring at me. They try to entice you by offering you one for $1 with the purchase of your meal. I'm always ready to say "no thank you." One mustn't give in to the pressure. I am always surprised how fast my food arrives at my table. We like booths and there are only a few, so if I have any complaints it would be we'd like a few more booths. I am what you would call a "Panera Bread Connoisseur". I have traveled around California, Oregon, and Washington visiting various Panera Breads and let me just say that this has got to be, by far, the worst location I have been to. I ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich. Instead of a grilled cheese, I was handed a burnt rock with cheese semi-melted on top and wedged between another burnt rock. I don't even know the physics involved in burning both pieces of bread and leaving the cheese semi-melted, but that chef somehow found a way. Never going here again.
