It's a hot day here in good ol Kentucky and when you walk into a place you kinda expect it to be cooler inside than outside. We ate outside! It was nice out there slight breeze. Thanks Mother Nature! While ordering inside it was a bit on the let's say not 5 star rating. They were busy lunch hour....but tables needed to be wiped and floor hadn't been swept. The guy that took my order was very nice. He didn't rush me which was nice. When I went to get my drink at the drink station there were no lids for cups so we had to ask for them. They refilled at that point. They just needed someone to take care of the dining room. I ordered the BLT no lettuce because I'm not eating lettuce right now. IYKYK! It was a good sandwich. Service was a joke. We stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes, before an associate came up, who then informed us she wasn't taking any orders. The manager comes over, helps the cashier, finally looks at us, and decides to take our order. We almost walked out, but with a hungry 6 year old, I decided to get him lunch and that was it. Beware of ordering online for delivery. Goes to Door Dash to deliver. I'm done with Door Dash and if I were Panera Bread I would go through another delivery service to deliver their online orders or better yet have their OWN EMPLOYEES to deliver their orders. This Not the first mishap I have dealt with from Door Dash drivers. The driver delivered the wrong order so I called Panera. They made everything right on their end then said that I'd have to call door dash customer service to have someone pick up the right order and bring it to me again and was even told I'd receive a follow up call to make sure I'd received my food. An hour later I still had not received the correct order and no follow up call. So I called Panera again and found that no one had been there yet. I again called Door Dash customer service and was told that the order had been completed so there was nothing that she could do aside from the refund which should be in my account within 5-7 days. The refund btw had been initiated by Panera Bread Not Door Dash. I do not understand WHY the driver could not be contacted to redeliver the correct order to my home to make it right. I was told that I could order everything again but why in the world would I want to take a chance on having the same thing happen AGAIN because of Door Dash? Panera was very nice about all of this and as far as I'm concerned Door Dash is completely at fault with this and failed me as a customer. Food is always good and I love ordering from the app. It's easy and fun, I've sat in the parking lot just to use the app.

Panera does some things extremely well. I love their hazelnut coffee, lattes, and Asian sesame chicken salad. When I've been adventurous and tried items other than these, I haven't been too impressed, but if I stick to my regulars then I'm a happy, happy girl. I stop for coffee at least once a week at Panera. The lattes are wonderful- not too sweet! The regular hazelnut coffee is so good! My husband and I started making trips every once in a while for lunch. Again, my favorite is the Asian sesame chicken salad. It's fresh, light, and healthy. It has crunch from the almonds and the wonton strips. The chicken is flavorful. The dressing is light and tangy. This location is clean and the employees are always friendly. Disappointed, had a bread Co where I used to live in STL and missed the bagel chips. I ordered some sliced like they do back home, they didn't...Just cut it in half and said good enough. The bagels seemed old, they were very hard to chew and then they forgot part of my order. Although I plan to make my own bagels from now on they did give me a free pastry for the trouble. Today I stopped at the drive-thru for a sandwich. I was headed home after receiving an IV infusion of an experimental Covid -19 drug. It's not like I felt up to cooking, even if I had food in the house. The girl at the window had on a mask, but no gloves. I was in my car, wearing a mask. I intended to pay with a credit card, to avoid putting my contaminated money in their register. I told the girl to go get gloves on, and that after she handed me the card back she should throw her gloves away, because I had tested positive. She said ok. She left and came back with what I guess was her manager. This person asked me if I had tested positive. I said yes, that's why I advised the cashier to put on gloves. She replied that she was sorry, but they just wouldn't be able to serve me. I am not pointing the finger at these employees. However, the managers and cashiers are woefully uneducated about the basic way to be safe and still operate a restaurant during this crisis. I am a medical professional. I she had just done as I asked, they would have been in no danger at all from me. It is the positive people who hand you contaminated cash to put into the register that you need to be worried about, if you touch the money with bare hands. There really is no excuse for this, and the fault lies with the person who owns the franchise. Or with the company, if it is not a franchise store. Someone should report you to the health department. read more

Of course the food here is delicious and on the healthy side, which is why I called to place a pick up order in the first place. After one of the female employees rudely terminated a phone call while I was trying to place a pick up order for my sick parents, I called back and talked to Austin in the office. He was so nice, understanding, and helpful. I was told by the first employee who answered that Panera doesn't do catering orders on weekends, but this was just an order for a few group soups and salads. I couldn't get her to understand "group soup" was not an online option and I needed to place this order over the phone. I am very lucky Austin answered the second time and was so helpful and kind. When your family is sick and you live hours away, the attention to customer service is so appreciated. Thank you Austin! Tell your superiors that you deserve a raise and promotion. read more

Eat there many times like their food and service is mostly good . It's when I need timely help that they fall short. Ask for breakfast 5 minutes prior to the change over and was told they were all out. Just to hear a later customer order and be served breakfast. Just don't like being lied to. read more

We ordered dinner takeout on a Thursday around 7:30 and they were out of some breads we first tried to order already. We'd done a "to go" order over phone and it wasn't ready when my husband got there so he had to wait. Everyone was very friendly and apologetic and the manager came out and offered a couple free pastries as an apology. That said, the couple behind him ordered two soups in bread bowls and got the last of those so supply was definitely lacking, though not sure if that was just that one day or an all the time issue. I had a great experience here today, and many other times in the past, too. The service was excellent! I came in to find my company chatting with an employee, and another employee alongside her that was happy to help people! It was truly great to see because I rarely see that anymore from chain restaurant employees. The food was good, as expected, we all got the pick 2 soup and sandwich. I thought the sandwiches my company ordered looked a bit small compared to mine, but they seemed to be a perfect size alongside the soup. I love the green tea here. The food is great, but the price is high for what you get. I'm always shocked that a salad and soup is $11. And now they have the nerve to ask for tip. They don't bring the food to the table, they won't clean up after you, and all they are doing is making sandwiches and heating up soup. read more

This use to be one of my favorite places to eat, but I will admit I haven't been here in awhile. I was more than a little shocked at what they are charging for such small servings. The menu board was a little misleading on the prices of the pick 2 deal. Also they seem a little pushy asking for tips. The "container" on the counter and with the card swiper asking for tips... Tips for whom? Am I being asked for a tip to the cashier, who clearly didn't want to be there, for taking my order and literally nothing else? Or maybe the tip was for the people that are assembling my sandwich and soup, then buzzing my buzzer for me to come and get it. Oh, the tip must be for the time I stood there at the pick up counter waiting for someone to turn around and see me because they forgot part of my order. Ordered the Italian half sandwich for nearly $6.00 . It consisted of two very thin slices of salami, one half slice of cheese and green leafy dressing with a dill blue cheese sauce. It tasted just like a "bread" sandwich. It might be worth 75 cents on a good day. Absolutely one of the poorest excuses for a sandwich in Owensboro. Hated to post this, but I have to laugh every time the Panera Bread ad comes up on tv and advertises their "clean" salads. Last week, a friend and I went to Panera for their Strawberry Poppy Seed salad. I was enjoying the salad until a spider crawled up from the salad bowl and made its way across the lettuce and other ingredients. At that point, I was done with lunch.
