We tried Panera in Rockwall for the first time as I was looking for sandwich & soup. We used the mobile ordering for this one. That went ok but I wanted to add a cookie and it wouldn't work for some reason, so, I had to order that in the drive thru. We each got different sandwiches. They each came on different breads. Dad had the tuna and him eating it was a hot mess. Hubs had the chipotle chicken avocado melt. He said he picked it because it was the highest rated but it didn't have much flavor. I got the chicken bacon rancher and it was a bit dry. The chicken is like sliced deli meat, so don't go in expecting a chicken breast. Dad and I got the broccoli cheese soup and it was good. The chocolate chip cookies were good but not worth 3$ each. I think we'll stick to our fave sandwich shops as we thought they just try to do too much here with all of the variations. read more

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the mistake Panera made on our order today. We ordered the Bacon Mac and Cheese. When we opened the cup, we found not bacon, but NUTS on the Mac and cheese. I don't know who can mix up bacon and nuts, but this was a huge mistake. Along with that, our order was all mixed up (chips instead of bread, etc.). This location gets hyper-busy, and it has drivethru service also. Very ambitious plan by Panera, might have bit-off more than could chew. This is in Rockwall, Texas I-30 shopping district, and right on south side of I-30 at Ridge Road. Rockwall is a nice town, and a very safe place to stop. However, the wave of relocations to Texas is flooding all the streets. Sounds like NASCAR with drivers trying to not be late. Panera has a drive thru, you must enter near the front right side, wrap around to the back. Parking lot then, is very busy right next to front door entrance! Once inside, a customer touchscreen order & pay kiosk is along on a counter. You can bypass this by walking to the bakery counter where staff can take your order. Ahh, the bakery goods, everything looks so good! How can anybody rush through this decision? Pecan Braid pastry, and Oatmeal Raisin cookie with Berries were my choices! The "Avocado, Egg Whites, Cheese & Spinach on Oat Bagel flat" & hot coffee were my breakfast. Everything was good, but the eggs were overcooked, left on grill too long. BUT, I ate it ALL, whoosh! I was pretty upset and confused with my first time ordering from this rockwall location, my issue was that I ordered 4 items mainly soups from the app and I chose ASAP mind that it was 12:00pm so 5-10 ETA mins and the order will be done at 12:06. I arrive at the location and the app crashes that doesn't bother me much because I had proof of purchase , so I get to the window and I'm waiting my the order, it is already 12:07. I sat there waiting for them to open the window, they did not open the window at all. I seen the young man looking at me through the tinted window like if I didn't see him and he just had a smirk on his face. Now it's 12:11 and they still don't open window. So instead of waiting I drove around again and asked through speaker , excuse me! Etc.. I ended it with a question do we have to come straight to the speaker for every order even though I ordered through app and they replied with yes. I went back to window and the young man just chuckled and handed me my ordered smirking saying sarcastically "have a good day". The app does in fact not say stop by the speaker to confirm my order when I have all the information on my phone and my order was already ready and it was sitting there just because they wanted me to speak through the microphone first at the screen. We did a drive through order. The Drive through cashier was very attentive and answered all of our questions. Our order was very simple but it was complete. The wait at the drive though could use some improvement as it took 10 minutes and we only had one car in front of us. I visited this location for the first time yesterday. I honestly didn't know Rockwall had a Panera until I googled to find one nearby. It's not a bad location it just happens to sit a little lower off the road and I haven't noticed it before. I used the drive through which was busy but still moved quickly for the lunch hour. I ordered an Asiago bagel and chive cream cheese. If I'm being honest, Panera doesn't make my favorite bagel. For whatever reason, this bagel was so much more moist than I typically experience at Panera locations. I got the bagel I was craving and it hit the spot. The girls working this evening around 5 pm were absolutely no help when it came to a corporate order they couldn't find. Was impressed by all the ordering options and the up to date decor of this location. Came in craving a salad and coffee as it was a cold day. Thankfully I was ordering from my phone as no associate was to be seen in the front for a good 30 minutes. After two more groups of customers came finally someone made their way to the front to assist. I spent 20$ on one person, again on a hot coffee as it was a cold day. Gave a 5$ tip to the young lady who brought it to me and seemed to be the only one walking the floor only to see my latte wasn't hot. I met some friends here for lunch today. It was great! The service at the register was friendly. When I went to pick up my order at the pickup window, I noticed something on it that is a restricted food for me. I asked if they could alter it for me. An employee that happened to be standing nearby pulled out a reference sheet and checked everything on my plate for the offending item, then we made a substitution. She was really thoughtful and fully engaged with my concern. The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and several other people around us seemed to be enjoying their meals, too. Morgan at the Rockwall location in I-30 was very great! She was happy to serve my mother and I. Morgan treated us like we were the only guest in the restaurant and was very informative and knowledgeable of her job and product. Thank you! A great experience somewhere can sometimes make up for other shortcomings that a business may have, such as food value, convenience, etc. I'm not saying that Panera had those things here, just making a point how if they did; then her and the staff being so kind would've made up for it most likely. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! This must be one of the most poorly-managed Panera franchises in the US. I am a big Panera fan (really!) and I've eaten at dozens of them around the US. Their coffee is typically every bit as good as Starbucks and their steel cut oatmeal is crazy good. But this particular outlet is simply the bottom of the barrel. And, I've eaten here a few times since they opened - each time hoping, no praying, they would improve their level of service. It's 7:10 AM on a Sunday and you know you're in trouble when you've paid for your breakfast, been handed your cup and you turn around to a completely empty coffee bar. Yep, there's no coffee out (zip, zero, none) and there's no coffee condiments out, no hot water, no milk, no cream - nuttin. The coffee bar be friggin empty. This at 7:10 AM. Then, there are the (many) employees - all running around like it's their first day (perhaps it is because everyone else quit last night?) avoiding customer eye contact and any form of communication explaining (or heaven forbid, apologizing) why it is taking 20 minutes to get some coffee out to the coffee bar. How does this happen? Well, I'm guessing: a) they all showed up a few minutes before opening and, b) the clueless manager does not know how to run a Panera and manage hourly employees. So, we are left to ponder: Is Rockwall, Texas simply a God-forsaken hell pit of under-performing corporate eateries (Olive Garden aside) that, through its evil powers, has sucked yet another chain food eatery into its clutches? OR Will the hapless owners of this franchise actually wake up and read all these bad Yelp reviews, hire a competent manager and avert a spectacular retail failure in one of Rockwall's premium retail locations? Was super excited to get Panera while away from home since I don't have one near me anymore. But man, what a mess this location is!! I ordered two Pick 2 meals and a salad for curbside pickup. Unfortunately it wasn't until getting home that we realized they gave us a BBQ chicken salad instead of the Thai salad I ordered (inedible since I hate BBQ), bread instead of chips, a Greek salad with rotting black lettuce, and the sorriest excuse for a sandwich I have ever seen in my life. Really, look at the picture - it was about 1 tablespoon of squishy chicken salad and 2 teaspoons of BBQ sauce. Truly laughable how skimpy it was. All in all, our 5-item lunch yielded about 1 editable meal in total. The app wouldn't let us rate our order or file a complaint with corporate either. Next the coffee it was great but the creamer that they put out is not being kept are maybe is not filled each morning it was about 8:29 when I went in and pretty much empty. Went in today the coffee had a bitter taste and I'm wondering if it was fresh. The creamer was the same as it was yesterday empty and I went in at 7:40am. I signed up for the unlimited drink but at this point I will drive further to Mesquite they seem to have better reviews. read more

Very bad experience. Placed an order, waited for 30 minutes and after not receiving food, I checked with the kitchen. They told me "sorry, the order never made it to the kitchen". I had the receipt. My debit card was charged. The order just never made it from the front to the back. What's worse, there are no checks and balances to even know. Nobody checked on me. After paying the worker at the window, I was asked to pull up and park in a designated "we will forget about you" spot. As of most recent, I ordered delivery that has taken over an hour to be delivered to my home, which is less than 10 minutes away. I called the location to check on my order and all the manager could relay thru the person who answered for her was that she has no idea what he's doing - they're are slammed and my food should be on it's way. Mmmmm. Panera is one of my favs! I would come here so much more often if it wasn't so expensive Today I tried the spicy Thai chicken salad. Delicious!! I got the pick two which includes a, half salad. That was plenty as it was a good sized serving. There was a good amount of chicken, edamame, peppers, crispy wonton strips & a delicious dressing.
