Saturday 12:30pm Party of 2 for a TO GO order We love Panera and love that you can usually count on them for a delicious meal. The girl taking our order took my Panera number before taking our lunch order. I guess I didn't have any rewards coming this time so we continued on with our order. Honey ordered the Summer Chowder in a bread bowl and I ordered a Pick 2 with broccoli cheddar soup and a Turkey Avocado BLT. Soup was hot and yummy. Sandwich was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. Since we had drinks in the car we asked for two cups which we received no problem and no charge. We added ice while we waited for our order and drinks when we got to the car. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Admittedly my wife and I had not gone to a Panera Bread for a couple of years, so we were very disappointed to find out they no longer offered clam chowder on Fridays. We both ordered broccoli cheddar soup in the sourdough bowl. The sourdough bowls must have been over baked; they were so hard we couldn't eat them. The cashier was polite enough, but the server who put up our food seemed irritated when I asked for the butter we requested when we ordered our food. I usually don't go to Panera these days, but I stopped for a quick bagel with cream cheese and latte. I wanted a pumpkin spice latte, but they didn't have those there. Instead they do cinnamon crunch lattes. I settled on the Madagascar vanilla latte. The latte was good. Not too sweet. Panera only had almond milk as their dairy alternative, but it was nice that it didn't cost extra. I got a toasted sesame bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel tasted fresh, slightly crispy on the outside and soft dough inside. The cream cheese was fluffy with good flavor. I had a $5 off coupon. The coupon email had a bad user experience because it did not an expiration date or scan code. It mentioned "you can use the app to order" but did not say you had to use the app to use the coupon. The woman at the front counter was very friendly from the start. When I asked about the coupon, she said she didn't think I could still use it. But she also said that her manager was right there and she'd ask. The manager came over and said it was no problem. It made my morning having been treated with such good customer service! read more

One of the best locations Panera Bread locations I have been to in the Sacramento area. This particular Panera Bread location is nice and spacious. The service was above average thanks to employees such as Alex. In addition the food was prepared and tasted fresh. The coffee was freshly brewed for a mid-afternoon. Lastly, the location of the Panera Bread was exceptional with the location nearly across the parking lot from a Barnes and Noble, a Target, Old Navy, and next door to another eating establishment, ect. I went into this Panera location to pick up a catering order for my office. Since I was early, I ordered some lunch while I waited. I ordered a half kale ceasar salad, half turkey kale pannini, fruit cup and soda. I did a double take when the cashier said my total was $16.84. I used to go to Panera all the time and get similar items and gawked when my total was $12, but at almost $17, I was sure something was wrong. After studying the receipt and menu, I figured that there was no mathematical error. So, I halfheartedly accepted that this was my choice and waited for my food to come out. When it did, I became even more surly. The pannini was so teeny. I paid almost $6 for this tiny thing?! And the kale salad was tasteless. I was so annoyed and I guess it showed since a staff member asked me how my meal was. I usually don't mention anything, but I couldn't keep silent this time and asked for a manager. Marie promptly came back to my table and I explained my situation. She asked me what she could do to remedy the situation and I told her that I wanted to change my order to a full sized Fuji Apple salad, which she promptly brought back to me. At this point, I was satisfied with how things were handled. However, in order to break up our sometimes mundane morning routine, I treat myself to a coffee and breakfast sandwich at Panera. Fortunately, there is a Panera Bread located in close proximity to my place of employment. Since I generally walk into this location prior to the morning rush, I almost never encounter the crazy lines that I have encountered around lunchtime. Until recently, I was unaware that you can bypass waiting in line by placing your food/and or drink order(s) using the Kiosk located near the front entrance. The employees at this location do a great job of acknowledging customers. Whether I'm waiting for my order, or simply meeting up with a friend to chat, I'm always warmly greeted by an employee (select Starbucks' locations should practice this). Since I'm a creature of habit who is sometimes afraid of experimenting with new meal options, I tend to order a small (12oz) coffee and the Ham, Egg & Cheese on whole grain every visit. I'm a geek who pays close attention to small detail, so I absolutely adore the fact that the employees write the exact time that the coffee was brewed on a small notepad located on each coffee dispenser. Therefore, if you arrived in the restaurant at 9am, you will be ecstatic to know that your coffee was brewed at 8:57am. Keep up the great work Panera Bread at "The Promenade" staff! read more

Looking for the best French Onion Soup....definitely did NOT find it here. It was lunch, I had a craving, and someone (not a yelper) mentioned that their French Onion Soup was pretty good. It definitely wasn't food network status. It tasted like it was from a Campbell's Soup can :/ There was barely any mozzarella cheese on top either. Totally skimped out!! I ordered the Soup and Sandwich combo. I think I coulda made a better ham and Swiss sandwich. The rye bread was too hard for my taste. Of course the bf was with me. He ordered the grilled pannini; which he complained about the whole time he was eating. I can understand why. The pannini was warm but tasted microwaved. They didn't even let the cheese melt before serving it to us. Mind you it wasn't busy at all on a rainy Saturday afternoon. For $21 for a pannini, half a sandwich and a small cup of soup was soooo not worth it. I have been to this Panera more than I'd like to admit. Maybe thirty or so times over the last few years. I'm not exaggerating when I say they get my order wrong 2/3 of the time. I get my food to go always through the app, although before, I used to go inside and order. My food is usually missing an item, not modified correctly, missing utensils, or the wrong side. Today was the final straw. The avocado in my sandwich was completely rotten (I mean black), the sandwich was thrown together with hardly any meat, small piece of cheese, and no other ingredients. What happened to the other ingredients? To top it off the bread was hard. Wrong side again. The drink was poorly made. The previous order also had issues. The modified sandwich (I just asked for no sauce) was not modified; while I received the right side, it was again hard bread I couldn't eat. Like rock hard inedible. The time before that, the entire meal wasn't correct, wrong sandwich and soup, and missed utensils when I marked I wanted utensils. Rather hard to eat soup or salad with no utensils. I only go here because of the convenience of the app, but I'm not doing it anymore. They lost a customer. Unfortunately we were all disappointed. We waited 35 minutes for our food. The food was sub par. I felt embarrassed for suggesting we go here. It was a day after Christmas. I am not sure if they were under staff, or if the staff was too tired from their Christmas holiday. When I went to ask about my food after waiting 30 minutes, I was told to deal with the wait. It was morning rush when I decided to come to this location to order a bagel and an iced tea. The line wasn't too long but I remember the person at the register being a little abrupt and pissed off while I was ordering. Everyone has bad days but if someone works directly with customers, service needs to be with a smile. Simple. Day one stuff. Spread the word. I must say that this location has improved a lot since the above incident. There are now express lane tablets on the right side of the registers. The tablets are simple to use, fast and efficient. Payment is through debit/credit cards on tablets so don't use them if you're paying with cash. I went again to grab lunch and used the tablet to order and pay. My name appeared on a screen in less than 10 minutes near the food counter where my soup and salad was packed in a carry-out bag. My lunch was placed on a shelf with my last name printed on a receipt stuck to the side of the bag. Quick, convenient and perfect for those on the go. I have never eaten anything quite as delicious as their souffles. I've tried almost all of them and I'm so grateful that they offer some non-meat options. If you're nearby and hungry in the morning, you owe it to yourself to stop in and grab AT LEAST 1 of those yummy treats. Their service is ALWAYS top notch.
