This is a great go to place for lunch. The food is great, you have tons of options, and you can earn rewards for free goodies on future trips with a MyPanera card! I'm a fan of their "you pick two" special where you can choose from soup, salad, sandwich, pasta, and now flatbread. I love getting their soups. Don't forget you always get your choice of an apple, chips, or bread with every order. Don't be discouraged if you see a long line. Their line moves quickly and the wait time for your order is not long. You can even order online and pick up at any location. For free WiFi, cheap coffee and pastries you are really better off elsewhere (such as Devine Grind down the street). Why so negative? I've been to this Panera to study a few times and it remains open later for finals week which is very considerate. There are outlets and the music is always smooth, jazzy, and calming. Staff here is friendly and the bathroom is usually really clean. They have installed the computers for purchasing food now and I've used it once. I think it's nice to have a picture of the items so I like that they have installed that. I felt like trying a new type of soup one day and I personally did not like the autumn squash at all. The texture was too thick for me and the taste wasn't that pleasant. I'm sure other people would disagree though. It does get loud during lunch/ dinner time so if you are studying, you might want to avoid those times of day. The booth seat closest to the bathroom does have cracks and oh man does it hurt to sit on with shorts. My legs felt like they were being pricked by a flat cactus. I've come to this Panera as well as other Panera locations with friends and co workers. I like the ' you pick two ' choice. 1/2 sandwich, salad . Your choice of each. You also get a choice of fresh fruit, bread or chips( their brand). You pay at the counter, and they give you a device that beeps and lights up when your order is ready. If you have a Panera card( free) ; this keeps track of your purchases and eventually, you get $2 off a purchase, a free pastry or a free drink. I got a Chinese chicken salad and 1/2 a turkey BLT. It's Panera folks. Nothing to see here, move along. But really - it's standard Panera fare, opens early in the morning, and has basic food. This location is larger than most and kid-friendly. There are plenty of areas to tuck a stroller and the largest stall in the women's bathroom has a changing table. The food is prepared consistently and expediently. Staff keeps this location pretty clean, save for the random fruit flies that buzz around the cookie display. Ehh, they're harmless. For reasons beyond my knowledge, they're always giving me a free daily bagel for an entire month every few months. Way to throw my new year diet. Not sure what's going on because I order the Mediterranean bowl all the time and this has never been an issue before. Now for the second time in the last month or so the rice is crusty and undercooked. I thought the first time was a fluke. When I brought it to the attention of the manager she basically called me a liar...said the rice is precooked so she doesn't know how that could be. Not sure either, but it is. This is my go to place and today is the last straw. They are always late for my online orders at least 10minutes. The main reason this is my last visit is how disgusted I am by their employee. I waited for my order next to the expediter station. I observed their food expediter bare handedly throwing left over food trashes from tables and proceeded to touch freshly made food and give them to customers without washing or sanitizing her hands. I'm generally a big fan of Panera, though it's pretty pricey in my opinion, and this is a good one. 1) The food is good and uses fresh ingredients 2) The atmosphere is laid back and casual and there is a lot of seating. 3) Free wi-fi. 4) They serve caffeine free Diet Pepsi which is rare. 5) The coffee is actually good and unlimited refills. 6) Variety of seating from recliners, to small booths, to tables to a long table for several people. I get really mix service when I come here. It's probably cause I look young and I come in my gym clothes. Sometimes I would get weird stares from the workers and sometimes they would be nice. The other day, the girl who was working the cashier, looked at me then looked past me and said "how can I help you." While looking at the lady right behind me. I understand that a lot of cops and older people come to this Panera, but just because I'm dressed differently and in my gym clothes, I should get stared at or treated differently. I visited this Panera bread last week for an Italian meetup gathering and definitively I will be coming back for each session is organized there. Parking was an issue, but there is a huge Target in the same shopping center and most people I guess were doing Christmas shopping. So parking for me was tough, but once in Panera, the ambiance was great, and that is not something you can tell from a fast food chain. I liked the layout of this restaurant as well as how they accommodate the tables for our large group. Also nobody was obligated to consume, so some people did not have dinner or coffee there and was not an issue. The other customers were not bothered by our presence and we could carry one in a festive environment. My cappuccino was served in mug and was excellent, something I was always my complaint about Paneras, that the coffee was not up to the standard. This one has changed my mind. read more

I have been a fan of Panera Bread for a long time but I must say no two Panera Breads are the same! For instance, this is a wonderful location and the food is consistently nice. There is one of the shift managers that I must say is rude and at times can be short with people. I have also found that it is not always the cleanest Panera Bread in which the rest rooms can be cluttered and gross and the the floor is dirty to the point that I am looking for Alaskan Moose on expanse of brown tundra. We are on the coffee program and we have been to a lot of different locations to have our coffee. But this place is first place for bad service. I mean why put options on the app if the workers are not going to even follow the way that is asked to put things together. We ordered both our coffees from our individual apps, she had extra half and half with 8 white sugar, I ordered extra half and half with 5 raw sugar & 5 white sugar both were supposed to be light roast coffee. Upon exiting the door I sat the coffee on the table. Bc your not supposed to do anything inside bc of the damn Covid stuff. Open the coffee and it's nothing but black coffee. So I go back in and ask for cream. The worker tells me o we don't do cream any more but I can give you these little individual ones. He tells me but the sugar is in the coffee. So I believe him bc he is supposed to be an honest kid. I then leave and go out to the car, put all the cream in go to take a sip and of course no sugar what so ever. And one of the kids has a black hair on the underside of the lid. Go back in, at this point really frustrated, my wife refuses to drink her coffee bc of the hair. The guy looks at me and says "well you have black hair maybe it's yours". From the underside of the lid?!? No flipping way. ONLINE ORDERING: do NOT order online for delivery on their website UNLESS you use their Catering button. I placed an order for $130. to be delivered assuming it would be faster/cheaper than using DoorDash. Lunch was suppose to arrive 11:15 am. 45 minutes later, we still had not received out lunch. Phoned the store directly, spoke with Brisa, who stated she is the general manager there. She was rude, and rushed and hastily explained that I need to call DoorDash. After i TRIED to explain to her that i ordered directly online and i could not contact a DoorDash driver for status or location, she then tried to give me an 800 number to CALL the Company. Again, i tried to explain that i need to contact the driver for location and ETA. Finally she explained that unless you order using their Catering button online, they outsource to DoorDash yet are unable to give the customer the contact of the DoorDash driver to contact for location and/or ETA. Nowhere on their website is this disclosed. So essentially, the customer is basically just dumped on if you never get your food. If you order using their Catering button, they use their own staff to deliver so you can go back to them for status if your order is late. FINALLY, after trying to get a word in over her huffing and puffing, she canceled my order so at least my card was credited back the $130. I like Panera Bread... but today was not a good day. I will order from them again but Brisa could use a meeting or two on customer service. She was defensive saying she was busy because it was the lunch hour - well yes. That's why i ordered to have food delivered an hour PRIOR to the lunch hour... which we never got but a doordash driver was certainly eating pretty well somewhere. And if you're a doordash driver... guess what?! If food was ordered through Panera and not doordash by the customer, you get a free lunch since the customer can't track you! Thumbs down on Brisa for the way my call was handled. As a general manager, your job is to handle the inquiry before you, not deflect and say the food was picked up and it's no longer your problem because it was handed off to a doordash driver who you won't let the customer track. read more

I've tried many things on the menu here. Most of the food here is really good. My personal favs are the pick 2 Greek salad, broccoli cheddar soup or napa chicken sandwich. Which ever combination works for me. They also have some really delicious pastries. But I try not to order it. (trying to watch my figure.... lol. reserving the cals for drinks instead!) The settings is very casual here. It has free WI-fi, the lighting there is,well lit yet still intimate enough. I was disappointed with this Panera. The cashier was condescending when I asked if there was gluten in the oatmeal. She stated "it's just oats and water" however the nice cashier taking my order decided to look up the ingredients. Something she didn't have to do! lol and behold the ingredients said may contain wheat. I would have been screwed! I can't have gluten so I ordered ham egg and cheese without the bread. What I got was a poor excuse for a combination of protein. My egg wasn't fully cooked (something they don't mention) my cheese was not melted but sticky as all get out. And my ham was soggy. For lunch today, I tried out Panera Bread. I am sorry that I waited so long to try it. I ordered a half order of their chipotle chicken sandwich bread bowl of their broccoli cheese soup. It was pretty good. I'd be more than willing to come back again. The whole meal cost me about $9.25. It would have been about $8 if I had just not ordered the bread bowl, which I will do so in the future since I am about to embark on a diet. I was very excited when I saw that Panera bread had come to my neighborhood. I'd eaten at this location quite a few times after I would get off the train at Diridon Station. Service and food have always been good UNTIL..... I saw the fruit flies flying and landing on the baked goods. For those of you new not in the food & beverage industry, fruit flies breed in moist environment, typically around rotting food and overripe fruits. Needless to say this is quite unsanitary. Since their baked goods are in the open air and are not housed in sealed containers, these little critters have full access to them until you purchase one and eat it unknowingly. I suggest that this location empty their garbage more often and invest in a fly trap/debugger. read more

Given that I am: chronically indecisive, extremely wooed by variety, and love cheese with good bread, this place is pretty much one of my favorite chain sandwich places. Bacon turkey bravo is my favorite sandwich. Bacon and Gouda on a sandwich? Mouth watering savory-ness. I always get it with the half sandwich half salad combo. The Asian chicken salad and the Fuji apple salad are both winners. I really like how this combo applies to any sandwich and any salad...not just the basic/least popular ones. Was really craving a bagel in the AM, and being in this plaza, headed over to Panera. They had a lot of choices, but went with the Everything toasted. Also asked for the chive and onion spread. I thought it would be like other places when they toast and put the spread on, but when I peeked at the bag waiting for me on the counter, I noticed they give you a side of cream cheese to spread on yourself. Since I was going to be in the car, I didn't want to go through all that mess, so spread it on at a table in the store. The side cream cheese is a lot, couldn't even use it all. My top 3 favorite items: napa almond chicken salad sandwich (very refreshing take on a chicken salad sandwich), the baked potato soup/chowder (not available everyday- Mondays and Wednesdays for sure), and their chocolate chip cookies (always baked just right!) The food is very fresh and healthy. I definitely would come here a lot more if I weren't so pricey. It's hard to spend under $12 and get enough food. I always get the Orchard Harvest. I also get the Pick 2 (1/2 soup or salad and 1/2 sandwich). So I get a Panini...I like pretty much all of the Paninis...I never had one that I didn't like. When I was sick, I had their soup in the bread bowl...That was good too...There was more bread that I anticipated, so I took it home and put regular Campbells Chicken Noodle in it, and it tasted great!
