Right down the street, they opened a new Panera Bread. We finally decided to go try it and it was yummy. Healthy, light, and pretty fast service. We went there for dinner on a Friday night and got the Cajun Chicken sanwich with French Onion soup. Pretty good deal since it also came with some chips which was nice. The sandwich was REALLY good and the soup was better than AppleBees. We got an Asiago Foccacia bread to take home. I put in the oven this morning and it was great! We'll be back. Just wished the sandwich portion was a little bit bigger. read more

I like Panera Bread and this location is no exception. I normally come here for the chicken salad and everytime my order is made quickly and almost perfect. They keep the place clean and the staff is always friendly. I also picked up a jalapeno and cinnamon bagel and both were pretty good. One of my fav places for a quick healthy bite. read more

I love the food but the customer service was alright. Its a hit or miss. My first time there I had someone who seems to be annoyed of waiting for me to decide on what I want. I came here yesterday for lunch, and I definitely was not disappointed! I ordered a half tomato and mozzarella panini and half caesar salad. It came with an option of chips, apple, or a small piece of bread. The inside was really nice, and plus, there was free wifi! It was a little bit cold inside, I'm not really sure, but I still really enjoyed it. The only reason why I took off a star is because as a starving student, I don't always want to spend $9 on lunch, but Panera Bread was worth it! read more

this is not the panera bread you are looking for. humorless cash register drones, lackluster food presentation, and dirty floors. it's like this place just doesn't give a rat's patoot. Ordered the steak and white cheddar with a cup of chicken soup. Stingy with the steak and the cheese and the soup was room temperature (unforgivable). Panera's claim to make the food fresh daily could be easily challenged by the meal i was served here. and then to top it off - the toffee cookie was so dry it caused a drought. but if you bring your goats, they will have more than enough to graze on while you struggle through your meal, as the floors had more food than the tables. there are other locations...go there. instead of here. read more

I had always seen Panera Bread around and drove by it all the time and I finally got the urge to try it out. When you walk inside there is a lot of room to sit and enjoy your meal but I decided to order To - Go. I ordered the Frontega Chicken Panini which is smoked chicken, mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, basil and chipotle mayo. I received my order in a matter of minutes and processed to go home. I was surprised to see it wasn't toasted and the chicken was not warm. I popped it in my small oven at home and it tasted amazing hence the 3 stars. read more

Bakery never has bread. This location is always out of bread bowls and bread in general. Even in middle of day and also at 5pm. Never going to this location again. Even when we ask the workers, they refuse to bake bread, even though they work at a BAKERY. Wow. MANAGER needs to see this. read more

Well, this restaurant is a huge disappointment. It could use some serious customer service and quality training. For many years, I have loved and dined at numerous Panera's from Fremont, CA and throughout many San Jose locations. It was one of my favorite chain restaurants. Over a week ago, I did a phone order-pick up at Panera's Monterey Road in San Jose. I ordered 3 dinners. For myself, I ordered a "full-size" chicken caesar salad with the "oil and vinegar" dressing on the side. After picking up the order and arriving at home, I found a half full plastic container of salad (it appeared to be a half order size) and a small container of olive oil alone. I called the restaurant and shared my disappointment. The person who answered the phone defended the restaurant and said oh no, the salads are portioned out, it can't be a half an order. And, he didn't know anything about the small container of olive oil. Well, after a lengthy conversation, I never heard any "regret or apology" for my disappointment. Clearly, that was not his position in the conversation; I felt he didn't give a care. So, he said he'd have the manager call me later (she was currently busy covering the floor). Well, way over a week has passed and no manager has called. I have been sympathetic to the restaurants during the pandemic (with loss of revenue and people's jobs), that is why I support them with take out meals. So, I am left with the impression that this restaurant doesn't care about it's customers. Well, they have lost 3 customers in this household. This restaurant could use some customer service training. Simply YUM... never had a bad time here. The employees are always chipper and my sammich is always awesome!

i know it's a corporate place, but they have some delicioius food and the service is great. (depends which day you go to) but otherwise, great sandwiches and the salads are crispy and light. I did have one issue with one the workers there because he was incompetent, but the managers definetly squared that away. i think this place is really great for light meals and queit places =) read more

I usually only visit these in the wee early hours on my way to work - employees are always nice and the food is definitely really good. I'm hooked on those frosted cookies so when they don't have them, it hurts - but I get over it. Love their asiago roast beef sandwich for lunch (which I buy with my morning bagel) and their sweets in the morning are also always wonderful! read more

Their turkey & avocado BLT is pretty good. The half sandwich is quite expensive though; $6. But it's worth it. I loved the customer service, so I'll definitely come back. read more

I called their location around 12 nn to place an order for pick up. The lady that I spoke to said their very busy, order won't be ready around 12:45, so I said okay, I ll place the order, but the phone drops, idk if she hang up on me or there's something wrong with the phone. So, I called them again around 12:09 and I told her that pick up at 12:45 is okay, she said since I called again 12:10 it won't be ready until 1:00 pm or so, so I started placing my order, first is the orzo soup, she said they don't have that since it's only seasonal(on the website it doesn't say seasonal soup), I asked her so what kind of soup do they have, she answered me in an annoyed voice, they have the rest available but not orzo, I should not be wasting time, so there you go I got upset with her not being helpful. Never again am I going to this establishment. Been here a good amount of times and 3 out if 5 times there they mess up on my orders. They either didn't have all the items packed and I'd have to drive back or they would give me the wrong things I ordered and I'd still have to drive back. Tried fresh blueberry bagel - awesome! Went again gave us hard not fresh blueberry bagel. They said they cook it overnight. Seems the fresh bagel is random or once in a lifetime experience. read more

I have been a Panera patron for years. I love this location, because unlike the Stevens Creek location, I can always find a table. It is much quieter than most Paneras and I love that there are power outlets at myst of the booths. read more

This is my favorite morning coffee shop...also very good lunches at reasonable prices. The employees here are very friendly and the customers they draw are relaxed and pleasant. A much nicer atmosphere than the nearby Starbucks. Coffee is good and refills are free! read more

I have never been disappointed with Panera. Today I ordered the usual , I was excited to pick up my order because I had been starving. My order was suppose to be ready at 12:47 , I got there at 12:55 and it wasnt ready . I then asked the cashier and she told me what I had ordered was not in the system. I then pulled up my e mail and showed them the order number. The supervisor then apologized and said that maybe the orders were backtracked . My order was finally ready at 1:05 . Once I got home I noticed my order was wrong , they gave me the wrong side !! I didnt want to make a deal out of it but the fact that two things went wrong because I decided to have Panera for lunch. read more

Megan and her crew were fantastic! I started off at her Panera but they were out of French Onion soup (I live in San Leandro and our panera restaurants aren't carrying the soup anymore) so I was TOTALLY bummed. But Megan and her team were so cool and gave super service! They called ahead to Joey's restaurant over on Coleman and it was ready when I got there... And they didn't forget the croutons! Just got home from this location and I could not be more irritated...from start to finish this was a totally unacceptable bullshit experience. The cashier must be confused about where he works because he didn't know what was on his own damn menu I guess. I'd be willing to cut him some slack if he seemed new but that didn't seem to be the case. I asked him about the soufflés and we pretty much had to guess which flavors they were because he had no idea. Next I ordered a yogurt and berries parfait and he looked at me like I was a moron and said "yogurt?" Like he had never heard of it before or something. man, I don't know dude, It's on YOUR menu, I don't work here! Then to top it all off I got home and they had forgotten to put the soufflé in my bag. The rating for this place should be 5 stars or maybe four and half stars, but this place isn't getting the love it deserves so I don't mind giving it the extra half star bonus. I've seen a lot of Panera Bread Co's across the country and this one is done right. You have plenty of space to "chill", study, work and not feel too guilty about taking up retail space. They draw a brisk business, but the size of the dining area is large. There are plenty of booths and tables that have power outlets and they encourage the "chill crowd" during the less than peak hours (like 11-2). I've tried lugging my laptop all over downtown San Jose and couldn't find a place that is conducive to work like this place. It is disappointing that the only common space worthwhile is not downtown after all the work they've done downtown (the city planners should talk to Panera to figure out common space concepts). Also, the food is top notch. Not a bad item on the menu. I was a little disappointed that my chicken salad sandwich didn't come on croissant as indicated on the menu. They should have asked before they just put it on bread first. I probably would have gotten something else. I'll look past it this time. read more

Soo I come here pretty much 2-3 times a week. They have great lobby space for tables, chairs, booths to get my hourly study sessions on. Good environment, not too noisy (except for occasional loud customers that have to yell while eating a mouthful of food). The service at the front, the cashiers are not personable at all.. I come here more than the average customer and I still get treated like a new stranger. I've worked at Starbucks so I am just keen to how I am treated as a customer at other places.. I know how it is to work behind that register. No eye contact, they always seem to rush you, and they look like they hate their jobs. This place has so much potential and the food is pretty good, but the service should be up to that level. I only order the salads here... They are really good! Good portions and a variety of ingredients in each large bowl :) other than that, aside from the service, I use this place for what is intended for... A place to crack open the books and study! I would not go here for any other reason (lunch, dinner etc.). read more

This place was pretty packed the day I came but still managed to find a seat and enjoy my chicken salad with avocado in it.. There was also blue cheese which isn't my favorite.. I love the menu at Panera. They offer a great variety so that everyone in your group can walk away happy. I also like how they offer seasonal specials. The strawberry, chicken and poppy seed salad is deliciously refreshing. The breads, well they speak for themselves. Tough to turn down. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a healthy and possibly low cal option. read more
