This is now my go-to spot for galbijjim. I remember thinking right after we left the restaurant that night that I was already looking forward to our next visit. One of the most popular K-food restaurants in the Bay Area, and their food is always a 10/10! I've come back here so many times because all of their soups are so comforting, especially the galbitang - my absolute favorite. It feels just like a warm hug in a bowl! Their cold noodles, both spicy and non-spicy versions, are refreshing and perfect for cooling down summer heat. We also almost always order the mo deum soo yook for extra protein. It's a combination plate with boiled beef brisket, tail, and tendons. You will have to season them yourself with salt and pepper, but beef is always so soft and tender. I highly recommend ordering this only if you're dining with a group of 3 or more because the portion is huge! After finishing your meal, they'll serve you a yakult, super yummy and great for digestion (super thoughtful of them) They're busy and almost always have a waitlist, especially during peak dinner hours. From my experience, the longest I've waited was about 45 minutes, but normally it's only around 20-30 minutes. There's a boba shop nearby where you can grab a drink while waiting. I've visited this restaurant multiple times over the past years and have tried the Seol Leong Tang, Bibim Naeng Myun, and Galbi Jjim. I went on a Monday evening and there was a bit of a wait, but we got in within 20 minutes and there was a comfortable waiting area in the front. I've never had this before, so I was curious about it. It's labeled as spicy but it didn't taste particularly spicy to me even though I generally have a low heat tolerance. It definitely does have some spice. The meat was very abundant and tender. This would be about 4 servings; we each poured a bowl each and took the rest home. I think the lighter galbi tang may have paired better with the richly flavorful galbi jjim, but I'm glad I tried something new. An excellent choice if you're not getting galbi jjim as it's very filling with all the meat. I think it's a pretty good deal for this price. + Cheese maeun galbi jjim ($82) - 10/10 - I love Daeho but I actually haven't had it in a while, so it's hard to compare. I did think the sauce was incredibly delicious and I'm so excited that I have so much leftover. One small piece of galbi, one giant rice cake, one kabocha slice, and one broccoli with some rice was enough for one serving, and even after splitting it with my friend, I have several large pieces of galbi left. I'm excited to repurpose the leftover sauce for pasta, tofu, and other food. This was absolutely worth it. I left feeling very pleasantly full with a ton of leftovers.
