LOVE the food here...the strawberry poppy seed salad is to die for! They have also de-cluttered their drink counter, which gives it a much less congested feel and is actually working well! Unlimited fountain drinks and sweet tea. Yea, sweet tea! UPDATE (Oct 2016): THEY HAVE GONE TO UNSWEET tea and sweeten it yourself with a syrup dispenser on the counter. I love most Paneras I visit. This one is no different than most. It recently opened in this obscure shopping center off Colesville Road. I figured that I'd reward myself for working out this morning (No, I'm not playing hooky...it's a school holiday) and buying all my flowers for my deck. I really wasn't hungry, but I was parched. I ordered a lemonade... I wished I knew that they had a frozen lemonade; it wasn't on the wall menu. I also got a mini lemon poppy seed bundt cake. It was awesome! For $1.99 it was way better than an ordinary muffin! I thoroughly enjoyed it. My dog got the last bite! This particular location has free WiFi too. It was clean. The counter gal was very personable too. If you are in the area (why?), then stop by. There is a TGIF and Mo's Southwest Grill in this fairly new shopping plaza in the middle of nowhere. read more

Dear Panera, You've been so good to me until today. I ordered rapid pick up for breakfast to avoid the lines. Grab and go and get to work on time was the goal. I get to work open my bag and my order is all the way wrong. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on ciabatta, but instead got bacon,egg and cheese on a croissant. My feelings were hurt and my stomach was empty. I called and spoke with Bill the manager and explained to him my order was wrong. He was so nice and apologetic and told me my next order was on him and hell even throw in an extra breakfast sandwich. How could I stay mad? Even though my stomach was beating me up from hunger, Bill's customer service skills made this a little better. This Panera gets 5 stars..!!! Having been to many, both near & far, this one stands out from the rest. OK, it is nearest to me, and my regular haunt, but still...? Pleasant staff, comfortable atmosphere, super-fast service..!!! What more could you want. Oh yeah, the food, which is as good as every other Panera. I think they have a winning business model. Paneras seem to provide nearly identical sandwiches from location to location and the food is consistently good. This location, though, stands out due to the facility and the staff. This location is consistently clean. The tables are cleared and cleaned at a surprising pace and the beverage stations are always well stocked and clean. The staff are stunningly friendly. It was on my last visit that I decided that this location deserved a Yelp review from me (I try and stray away from reviewing chain establishments unless the service is remarkably bad). The guy who took our order, Eran, was so pleasant and up beat that it caught me off guard. He was funny and helpful when my small children provided him with their orders and his interaction with the other staff was light hearted and entertaining. When I got over to the food pick-up station, I got my salad and realized (much to my chagrin) that it had Gorgonzola cheese in it. I must have either done a double-take or made some kind of facial expression because the woman behind the counter, Jordan, immediately asked me if everything was okay. I told her that it was fine and that I could pick around the Gorgonzola but she took that salad back (insisting that it would be given to another customer (which was my concern - that the food would be wasted) as the salad was very popular) and said she'd prepare me another one - which she did in record time. Meanwhile, she was very pleasant about the whole event and shared that she too was not a big fan of "crumbly" cheeses. This is not standard Panera staff behavior. The managers at this location have brought on the right people and trained them in the ways of customer service. While there are several Panera Bread locations near my house, I'll be going to this one from here on out. read more

This Panera is great! They are fast and normally successful with their attention to detail. However, I must say my experience today was less than enjoyable compared to my normal visits at Panera. For starters I placed a rapid order so it could be ready before my shift started at work. My confirmation told me it would be ready at 9:08 AM it was not ready until 9:20 AM so I was later to work then I would like to be. Let me be fair and say everything on the menu is always delicious. My bagel sandwich was perfect but I ordered a apple crumb muffin to end my breakfast pleasure and received a pumpkin spice muffin instead. Good thing for them I was not allergic to pumpkin! I can't tell a lie however, the pumpkin spice muffin was extremely tasteful so I can't be soooo upset with them messing up my food order. No matter which location I'm at, there is always an issue. However, this is one of the locations that seem to suck the most. I'll take slow service over a location that never has the items that I come up there for. Driving to this location is just a waste of time and money. I literally only come here for their pastries and no matter what day and time I come, they never have anything. Everything is condensed down to either half or less than half of what they have. & this has happen multiple times. I've been to busier locations and they make sure they are set for the day or at least almost the whole day. Then it's just empty and the employees are all over the place. Hit or miss, honestly, but mostly hit. You expect consistency from any chain, but I find that is never the case with this Panera. It's by my office, so it's the one I order from the most, but it's also the one I get the least consistent offerings. Case in point: my last visit, we ordered take-out, I didn't pick it up, but this experience has been pretty standard. The soup was okay, but it was missing the croûtons (french onion), and the cheese was at the bottom. I'm confused why the cheese in a gratinee would be at the bottom, and the croûtons would be non-existent. I swear they've included them in the past. The sandwich was also only okay (got the ham & swiss with the pick-two). The arrangement was sloppy, and the veggies were all over the place. The meat and cheese were not aligned at all, and were both sticking out in different ways. I had to put it back together; sorry, not being that picky, but it's really not hard to arrange a sammich. It's good, it's Panera, for the most part it's exactly what I order and what I would expect. I do like the variety of lunch options, so I can order soup, salad, sandwich, or some combination of them depending on my mood. I don't like eating there for lunch because it's so crowded, same with driving and parking at the relatively small shared lot. Can't fault them for the lot size, though. read more

It's hit or miss with Panera. I wouldn't call their grilled cheese grilled. It's more like toasted bread with cheese on it. I think they use shredded cheese because it doesn't completely cover the bread. It a melted blob in the center. However, the people working there are nice. I'll keep going back. Panera has really stepped up their game. We used to visit sweet greens often now we come here. The green goddess salad is the best, like a Cobb salad with avocado. Also the southwest salad is fantastic. The salads are amazing Usually the sandwiches here leave me unsatisfied, but they are good especially the breakfast sandwiches. I also enjoy the coffee and the scones We started using the app to order and pay via rapid pick up, which is super convenient...and we receive free treats from time to time. This place gets four stars for the exceptional customer service. Here is evidence: Today, I ordered a You-Pick-2 with a Cheddar Broccoli and Chipotle Chicken panini. The line usually moves very fast and you get your order within 5 minutes. The lady dishing out food noticed that I was standing and patiently waiting for a while. How long? Maybe 6 or 7 minutes. She requested that the employees push my order to the front and apologized. On top of this, the offered me a free smoothie or drink. I got the Black Cherry Smoothie (which was just okay, I wouldn't pay for it). Earlier this week, my coworker ordered a You-Pick-2 with a chicken caesar salad on the side. When she opened up her bag (we went back to work), she noticed that there was no chicken in the salad. She was upset and decided that she would go back later to rectify the issue. She was presented with a large chicken caesar, chocolate chip cookie, drink, and an apology from the manager. That's what I'm talking about -- if this was the customer service I received every time an order was messed up or took longer than expected, I would be on cloud 9. Wow, this formerly wonderful neighborhood cafe has deteriorated into mediocrity. First off, the "background" music level is so intrusive, it's more akin to being in a lounge or club than a cafe. What's worse, patrons don't seem to appreciate the courtesy of using headphones with their laptops; on several occasions, I have had to ask patrons to lower their volume. One may ask "How is that Panera's fault?" But I believe the general vibe enforced by the staff will influence how the patrons behave. The food remains okay. I'm bummed that they got rid of the panini press (the Frontega Chicken snadwich just isnt the same). This time, the cashier taking our order, Simi, must have had a bad day because she seems very annoyed with us being there. She didn't speak when we walked up, had an attitude when my daughter wanted her salad without olives and didn't ask what side we wanted. I love Panera. However, this location never gets takeout orders right. Forgot the Apple, charged for whole sandwich, given the pick 2 version. Picked up additional pastry for a breakfast meeting. Pastries were fine, but no one looked at the total order and thought, wow this could use a larger bag. I would understand if they were busy. They weren't, my order was the only one on the board. The manager has never been helpful, and he's unhelpful with a why are you bothering me attitude. It's a shame, because this Panera is close to home and it use to be wonderful. An easy 4 stars. I mean, who doesn't love Panera? As Libby F. mentioned, this one is in a newish shopping center. I grabbed lunch here the other day with several coworkers and we ate outside, taking advantage of the gorgeous weather. I could definitely go on and on about the awesome food here, noting my newfound love of Cinnamon Crunch bagels (OMG - to die for!) and the incredible cheesiness of the broccoli cheddar soup, but these foods are found at all locations. So besides the food, I have several other reasons to love this one in particular: 1. Awesome outdoor seating with gargantuan umbrellas and very chic chairs. There's even wood paneling separating the outdoor tables from the parking lot. 2. This location has significantly more indoor seating than other Panera's. 3. As busy as the lunch hour was, people were efficiently taken care of. The line was always moving and my number was called before I had even filled my cup with soda. 4. Panera has somehow created a brand that connotes healthy eating while selling a lot of very calorie-rich food. They seem to have done this by making a warm and inviting environment (lots of natural tones) and selling their highest margin products through the bakery (which sounds harmless enough). It feels 'natural' enough that you assume it's healthy, but it's not hippie enough to be threatening. Kudos, marketing department. The upside is their food is quite good, and perfectly consistent across the country. Their paninis usually hit the spot, and their soups are also quite hearty and flavorful. I'm a big fan of the Mediterranean veggie sandwich, which is one of surprisingly few vegetarian options. Also, every Panera is the same everywhere, and all seem very clean and well run; I've never had any kind of problem. My advice to Panera is to stop trying to sell me bundt cakes and enormous cinnamon rolls and instead focus on the restaurant menu. In particular, more truly healthy options would be great. Fortunately, you've already got the brand and the logistics to do that well--in fact, I'm only disappointed when it seems like you aren't living up to it. read more

I'm not huge on Panera, but this spot has come through for me when I've been in a bind. I also am primarily writing this review because they have a great team of workers at this place. The high school kids are adorable, polite, friendly, and the managerial staff is professional, efficient, and very nice as well. Even during the busiest hours, you can expect to order promptly, have your order filled as requested, and receive your food in a timely manner. As someone who travels, the nuances you find that are noticeably different in geographical locales is the meet and greet vibe which is most excellent here in this tucked out of the way location. The portions and presentation occasionally differ as well as the cleanliness. The managers here clearly have a great crew who like where they work and it shows. While I'm not sure I'd spend that much for a lobster roll at a national chain, it seems to be a popular item and people are glad to have it on the menu during an unusual heat wave even for the mid-Atlantic. I've eaten here hundreds of times because I work nearby. For the chain in general, I've found that Panera offers a wide variety of selections. However, their prices can be a little high for a "gourmet" fast food sandwich. If I get a roasted turkey with avocado sandwich, I end up paying almost ten bucks for the sandwich alone after tax (no drink). Not exactly a great deal. So I have to deduct a star because I do not find their food a good value. If you buy a grilled cheese, you get all bread with little cheese. My officemate has taken to buying "extra" chicken salad on the side to supplement the chicken salad in his sandwich. After realizing he was paying $2 extra for the same amount of chicken salad (they didn't really add any), he started getting it "on the side" in a little cup. I'd rate the chain a star higher if the sandwiches themselves were a little more robust and they didn't fall apart so easily. If you don't believe me, try eating a roasted turkey avocado or tuna sandwich. It's almost impossible to keep pieces of the sandwich from falling all over your shirt or desk. That being said, I do find the staff at this particular location extremely delightful and nice. The management has trained everyone well in that they always greet you with a smile and act like it's an honor to serve you. This is not all that commonplace anymore. Occasionally they forget to put in my apple instead of chips and they are always quick to fix their mistake (check your bag before you leave). Once in a blue moon, I'll get somebody else's sandwich although I go back here because I'd rather buy a sandwich from a nice person rather than a surly one, even if the nice ones occasionally screw up. The location here is clean as well and fairly busy but the line moves pretty quickly. Beware that parking is tight in the lot so if you have a nice car, find a corner and take it slow. I try to justify the high prices for Panera by using a Panera rewards card. Occasionally you might get $2 off a sandwich or a free drink or cookie or something. Not a place I'd go to daily due to the value, but it has a nice selection so I probably go here about once a week on average for lunch. read more

While I agree that in general Panera is a bit overpriced, there aren't really a lot of other options in this area, making it a go to by default.
