Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Clearly did not care at all about their customers. I ordered a salad at the drive through and was not given dressing or a fork. Pulled back to the window and two employees came out and scolded me for not pulling through again and waiting behind several ordering cars even though there were no cars at the pay window. I told them all I needed was my dressing and a fork that they had forgotten to give me first time around. No apologies and stormed off back into the building. Finally was given my dressing but had to prompt for fork for a third time. The girl at the window was clearly annoyed with me but the feeling was mutual. Food was good but staff was terrible. Panera in Niles Michigan off the expressway was disappointing. Firstly , The girl that took my order last night just came from her car, was wearing gloves and then took them off to ring up & hand me change.. there was no hand/washing done from coming from her car to inside the restaurant. 2-3 people behind the food prep area had their masks pulled down over their noses or were fiddling with their masks ..the people preparing OUR food. I motioned to the lead man who then motioned to her and she complied but seemed not so happy. He did not seem happy with me, either! Chicken avocado sandwich was excellent - the bread was crusty outside and soft inside, perfect sandwich and a half sandwich was plenty, I had the chicken noodle soup which was tasty and warmed me up after getting caught in the rain on a chilly day. read more

I ordered a toasted bagel with honey walnut cream cheese and a hot breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich, which ideally would take much longer to prepare than a bagel, was done right away. I was told the bagel was still in the toaster. As I waited for close to 15 minutes I had to listen to 3 employees behind the counter discuss how horrible their company was. They shamelessly said how their managers were ineffective and their employees (THEMSELVES) were unmanageable. They complained endlessly of the poor operations in their disgruntled fashion, not having a care that I was standing right there. The same employee that told me my bagel was still toasting asked me what I was waiting for. When I reminded her that it was a bagel and said I would appreciate her checking on it because it most certainly should have been done by now, she grumpily told me that she doesn't work on the bagels. She proceeded to argue with the other team members behind the counter and then struggled to shove the bagel bag into the sandwich bag. I asked her to just hand me each bag separately and she continued to fold and squish both bags until they were a torn and mashed mess. She seemed truly dismayed when I mentioned that I now see every complaint about their company that they inappropriately aired in front of me, was spot on. When I got to my office I saw they gave my plain cream cheese instead of the honey walnut I orderedand the sandwich I had bought for a coworker was cold. On top of that, the store was so dirty it was uncomfortable. The bench used for waiting customers had food all over it and the floor and counters were full of food chunks. While the menu is the same as every other Panera - and the set up of the restaurant is as well - this particular location had only that going for it. Upon entering there was litter on the ground. The bakery case, immediately in front of us, was empty save for a few cookies. (This was 4:30 in the afternoon.) Ordering was as expected - we received the number for our table - and then attempted to find a clean table. There were more dirty tables than free and clean. Tables filled with leftovers and garbage from past customers. Found a clear table, number on, proceeded to the ladies restroom. One of the two toilets functioned. There was no paper towel and the management had been told as the dispenser was wide open waiting for a refill. Finally walked up to the prep area to grab our food since there was no one to bring it out to our table. Chairs were grubby. It just looked run down. Food was fine. Panera-like. In fact, the one thing this location had going for it was one gentleman (and I wish I had gotten his name). He was prepping food alone and when he was caught up he went out to the dining area and starting attempting to clean. Managers and other employees? Sitting around a table at the back together - it appeared they were interviewing more staff - but to let the place get so messy up to that point? Second time we tried to stop at this location to eat while coming back from Chicago. 3:20 pm.... And was told immediately we had at least a 20 min wait for any food. No bagels, little bread choices and even asked if we could just get one small Mac and cheese and half sand, nope 20 mins. We left and went to Moes, which was awful, so completely wasted stop. Never ever again. Plenty of people were leaving Panera as well, lots of people unhappy.... And maybe hungry? read more

If you want to risk Covid in exchange for poor service, this is your place! We were told to use difficult kiosks that took 4x longer to use than ordering at the register. Meanwhile others were given counter service. Perhaps we got bad service since we were only masked people in the resto. It's a case of self service to save money not for safety. We stopped at this Panera while driving through Michigan - although I noticed the reviews were bad, it's a great location right off the highway, so we decided to give it a shot. Two stars, because as I mentioned it's a great location for a Panera. Other than that, I would not recommend this specific Panera Bread. We were in a decently long line, when the woman on the register suggested to leave the line and use the Kiosk to order. This sounded like a great, quicker option except several menu (anything that was new or seasonal) items were listed on the kiosk as "unavailable". Because all items I was planning on ordering were "unavailable" on the kiosk, we decided to get back in line. Once at the register, I ordered those items and politely mentioned, "just an FYI - these items are listed as unavailable on the kiosk". The woman at the register responded with, "I don't know why" and then asked to help the next person. I was taken back by that response, because I would have expected a "thank you for letting us know". To top it all off, we ended up waiting 20 minutes for our to go order. Food was good as always. Service was rude and unprofessional. My plant-based mom ordered the one vegan menu item and they were out of the main ingredient. When she asked for additional cucumbers to substitute the main ingredient, the line cook told her she needed to go back to the register and pay for it. She did not understand the concept that there would be a need to substitute and continued to rudely push back on my mom. Finally after some back and forth and conversation with the manager she obliged. The cashier also overcharged us and added a full size salad instead of a half order like I clearly asked. This location was better when they had trash receptacles for you to bus your own tables. I don't really like seeing everyone's apple cores, half-eaten bread, and soggy lettuce when I sit down to eat. Since then, downhill. When the tables come out on the patio, get ready for litter all over the parking lot and nearby grassy areas. No trash cans means no one can throw away their napkins before they fly away. So many times I have had to pile dirty dishes from a table to another just so my daughter and I could sit down :( read more

This Panera was a welcome break from fast food on my trip from Chicago to Detroit. The staff was friendly, the tables were clean and the restrooms were very clean. My sandwich was okay. The asiago focaccia was a bit bubbly, which indicated old dough. But I was in foreign territory, so I didn't say a anything. It tasted fine so what the hey. The croutons in my soup were a bit stale but I let it slide. Everything else tasted fine, It seems they get a lot of tourists in this location. There are so many great Panera Breadd that I want to like this one; unfortunately I can't. I repeated my order twice to the attendant and my salad and sandwich still ended up wrong. I'm a teacher and I don't often have time to grab a breakfast sandwich but I was running behind and knew my lunch was going to be busy so I went to grab something fast. This was anything but. They sat laughing at the main counter as I watched through the window (of the drive thru) for just under ten minutes. When my attendant came back he grabbed my bag of food that had obviously been sitting there the entire time!! Ugh and sure enough it was cold and later I found out my salad was not made to order. I really just don't understand why this Panera is so so slow. A small mac & cheese and smoothie, over 10 minute wait! And Lord help you if you order a sandwich. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes plus for mediocre frozen food warmed up. This particular location I have tried to get latte coffee's with milk alternatives like almond milk multiple times and every time it tasted scratched/burned and I had to call about it. The management is always amazing there though, they will make it right with you. I just can't understand the long wait times. It is always so bad. read more

When I lived on west and east coasts and traveled a lot, Panera was also a quick go to stop to get relatively healthy food. It was a "fast food" place without feeling like you are eating a greasy mess. In the few years I have been back in this area I was happy they had one here. But increasingly the value of the food from what you get is nothing like those commercials they tout. The staff is nice, the online ordering is convenient but the last three times I felt my veggie sandwiches were beyond subpar (wilted veggies, very little of any ingredients ordered) and my hubs did like any of his egg and meat sandwiches for breakfast. For on average 7-10 dollars a person for a meal, we just choose better places to go at this point. read more

Every week I buy bread after 3 weeks it took 3 trips trying to find the bread I want. There out 3 days in a row there inventory must not tell when they need stuff replaced. They don't know where to get the bread from a store. I am waisting my time trying to report something using there app. It has no support to Wright to. I give up. Again 4 days went by and I ordered ahead a day and they couldn't fill the order. On line it says ready tomorrow morning 7:30am. They said it's the first time ever but the computer went down just for My order the business down the road got there order! It wasn't till we were in the store for the second time and had the same terrible experience that remembered I had been there before. This is not only the worst Panera I've ever been to, it's one of the worst restaurants I've been in. The service is terrible, the store is filthy, the bathrooms are dirty, and the food wasn't prepared to the normal Panera quality. I have been coming here since the location opened and the original owners were much more conscientious. The food was on par with other Panera's, but they didn't have a couple of items I was looking for, including light roast coffee that ran out as I was filling up. I am an avid Panera visitor and usually look at this establishment as a restaurant that you can't go wrong with, but this location really proved me wrong. I went with one other person and we both ordered the You Pick Two. I ordered the Tomato Mozzarella Panini with Mac and Cheese and my fiance ordered the Frontega Chicken with Broccoli Cheddar Soup. The tomato mozz sandwich was BAD. Extremely salty (which I've never experienced at any other location. The mac and cheese (normally my fave item at Panera), was inedible. Not only was it overcooked, but there was a piece of plastic in it (presumably from the wrapper the cheese comes in). The frontega chicken sandwich was "not saucy enough", per my fiance. The only decent item we ordered was the broccoli chedd soup. Pathetic. read more
