My kids and I come here often and it is consistently good. It's healthy fast food at a good price. It's not gourmet obvs but it's good and I don't feel like a bad parent feeding it to my kids. Don't understand the bad reviews! We are always greeted and yes some of the cashiers are rude, but you interact with them for a minute. And yes maybe they hate their job bc it seems like a stressful one because there's usually a line out the door. But the cupcakes, muffins, salads and sandwiches are worth it. Ok maybe some customer service training would help make it more pleasant. The folks making the food do an awesome job with moving quickly and getting orders right. It's healthy fast food without the chemicals, hormones and gross processed meat-- or fried anything. This location is always packed. But you can always find a table as turnover is rapid. This is the worst panera location in miles. I've had zero correct orders in my last 6 orders. They always mess something up, forget something, etc. Often I find myself going back up to the counter to get something fixed and seeing a fellow customer already there with a separate problem. I'm a carb-aholic - sort of the anti-Atkins. And I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of Panera's baked goods. A generalized bake shop usually has mediocre bagels, but theirs actually tasted authentic and at least as good as most local bagel stores'. Meanwhile, their breads lived up to my hopes - tender when they should be, pleasantly dense otherwise. (Hey, that describes me too.) My favorite little treat is a pumpkin "muffie" - a muffin top with a cuter name. Mildly savory sweetness but not too heavy a lump of dough. I've eaten lunch there a couple of times. The salads are good-sized and seem fresh (though the iced tea is nothing to write home about). I know this is a chain, but this is the only location I've been to. Of course what most people love about Panera is the high quality and consistency you experience at all of their locations. I especially like this Panera location. I have been coming here regularly for over eight years and never had a bad experience. The remodeled dining area is well done. The staff is always very friendly. I like that the manager is often outside the pick up area making sure that everything is perfect. I am a big fan of the broccoli and cheddar soup and the roasted turkey avacado BLT. Often I will pick up some baked goods and bread for the weekend. This is one of my favorite restaurants when you don't feel like cooking and looking for a healthy alternative to fast food. read more

All the times I've been to Panera were for lunch and it is always the one on 202 since it is closer to work. They take my order quickly and make my food pretty fast too. I enjoy their sandwiches and salads -- though I've only tried vegetarian and the chicken ones. I usually order the Napa Almond Chicken sandwich - it's delicious with the bread being tender. Comes with a pickle and a bag of chips. The place is a little expensive - about $10 for a sandwich and a drink. If it were a little less pricey, it would be my go-to place for lunch. read more

My first visit to this Panera Bread location took place on my way to some family activities. My boyfriend and I arrived closer to 12pm, so they were getting pretty busy. I placed my order and paid, then stood by the counter and waited for our items. The young man who took care of us realized that they were out of the egg soufflé that I wanted, but since I already paid he gave me the two remaining egg soufflés, an extra shot of espresso in my drink, AND a cookie. This was so incredibly nice of him--great customer service. I don't think I need to elaborate on the taste or quality of the items we ordered because I think we all know how rich and tasty almost everything is here. I've never had an issue ordering here. I used to go a lot in high school and I pick up breakfast for my family when I come back to area and never had any issues. It's usually packed around lunches though but I feel like that's true for all Panera Breads. If you utilize rapid pickup and just order off your phone or computer, you don't have to wait in the long lines to order. I would rate this Panera 5stars only because it used to be my favorite, and their food is the best of all Panera Bread restaurants I've visited. However they have some really unprofessional, rude and unfriendly staff here and customer service went downhill. Which is a total turn off! I hate to say this but the customer service issues really haven't improved since my last review. The other day I walked up to the counter and asked the guy behind the register if they had chocolate chip bagels. I wasn't wearing my glasses and couldn't see what was in the baskets. He looked at me like I had a third eyeball and just sort of waved his arm indicating the general direction of the bagels. I said "I can't see, I'm not wearing my glasses" - blank stare. Panera never seems to win in my book. My husband really wanted a breakfast sandwich here and my usual complaints came true yet again. First, they grab you with these delicious looking and sounding sandwiches. Tried the hand carved turkey Apple cheddar sand which. Picture looked amazing food came out... Terrible. My husbands sandwich was measly and really nothing else tasted too good. Second, the prices are ridiculous for the portion and size. I eat a lot of Panera restaurants due to travel. It's consistent and does the job when I want quick but decent. My rating is because of the staff and cleanliness of this place. The girl taking my order acted like she was doing me a favor. Picked up my food and not even an acknowledgment that I was there. Table is disgusting with crumbs and the floor has garbage all over it. I've been here a good number of times already with my wife and each time was always a pleasant experience. We've never had any problems with the staff, which is good thing and the food has always been delicious and enjoyable. 1 star for TERRIBLE service and atmosphere. This is the last time I visit this location. I used to come here frequently when I worked nearby. That was about 2 years ago. Since then, the staff has drastically changed to incorporate some of the rudest people I have ever encountered working a restaurant. I have several years' experience as a server and a considerable amount of patience for those in the industry, but this was unacceptable. My last visit over the summer, I was sexually harassed by a few men in charge of food and beverages behind the high counter. I addressed it with the manager immediately and asked for my money back. I was so mortified by the way I was treated... Just ordering an iced coffee.... where is the decorum and respect?? Today I decided to give the place another chance and was treated with unnecessary attitude by a young girl who can't possibly be out of high school yet. I should also mention that the conversation between the 2 counter employees, which was fully audible, was quite unsavory for being within earshot of customers at the cash register. It didn't help afterwards to have another customer sit down nearby blasting music through earphones to where the whole room could hear it. What is going on with this place? read more

I only go to this Panera when I'm at work because I am in the same shopping center, otherwise I wouldn't even bother. The customer service is not the best. A few of the girls who work there have no idea what's going on or what is on the menu, I've asked questions and they literally had to turn around and look at the menu themselves after going "uhhhhh...." with a blank face. The station with the soft drinks and lemons, etc... is VERY sticky and wet every time I go in there. The floors could be cleaner, too. The "rapid pick up" is never on the shelf or even ready for me to pick it up when I came right at the time it was promised to be ready so whats the point of even ordering online ahead of time. We have been to other Panera Bread locations that have been clean and the food was good although somewhat over priced. This location (Concord Pike) was awful. It started at the cash register. The woman at the register couldn't seem to get our order right and seemed annoyed when we kept correcting her. Apple pay wasn't working so I had to dig out a credit card with a chip that wouldn't work until after I swiped it but that was the least of our experience. I ordered a turkey, apple etc sandwich and a soft drink, my wife a small soup and a piece of bread. The bill was $19.00. The sandwich was soggy (wet bread) and the turkey was cold like it just was thawed out from the freezer. The sandwich came with a ridiculous amount of greens, over a handful leaving a lone piece of cheese and soaking wet apple mixture. It was disgusting! My wife fared better with the soup and roll but our meal was certainly not worth $19. The dish return was stacked high with dishes. It looked like no one had come to take them away for hours. The floor was littered with trash and crumbs, Even the walls in the booths were dirty, The whole location was filthy! The bathrooms were not in much better shape. My wife took one look at the ladies room and walked out. We have been to two other Panera Brad locations that were in better condition including the new one at Granite Run, Its obvious the employees at the Concord Pike location couldn't care less. My overall experience at this Panera was terrible. The cafe was crowded and disorderly. The one cashier was being very slow and overly talkative with the people in front of me. I ended up ordering on a kiosk instead. The cashier did not acknowledge me or have any sense of urgency to get the line moving. My sandwich looked nothing like the picture, it was smashed thin. Great local sandwich place. I enjoy their all-veggie sandwiches and their panera kids menu. The dining room is a room with a lockable door so you can have a private panera dining experience. I came here one day after a tiring day at New Castle Farmer's Market, Target, Christiana Mall, Trader Joe's, here, and T.J MAXX. Before I entered T.J. MAXX, it was a beautiful blue day. My girlfriend and I have been to three different Paneras, including two trips to this one. The experiences have been mixed and unpredictable. On two separate occasions (once at this location and once in Philly) they completely forgot our order. What happened both times was exactly the same- they quickly took our order and payment and entered it into the system, then nothing happened. I stood there waiting and waiting while everyone else picked up their orders. Eventually I asked a manager what was going on. Both times they checked their system and saw that the order existed, but nothing was actually done with it. I've pondered why this happens and it appears to be a twofold issue. Part is a flaw in the order system in which unfulfilled orders are gradually pushed to the bottom by other orders that come after them. The second issue concerns Panera's inability to handle volume. If you go at a time when it is completely empty you will be fine, but once they hit a certain volume of people consider it a crapshoot if the system will work for you or not. Both forgotten orders occurred during traditional lunch times. As far as the quality of the food is concerned, I consider it acceptable but definitely overpriced, probably by about 20-40% depending on what you get. I am not at all picky and I've never had anything I didn't like, but the meals do all have a thrown together feel to them and the portions are a little skimpy. Finally, I feel this chain has a bit of an identity crisis. They wish to project an image of healthy and perhaps even quasi-gourmet dining with a more relaxed atmosphere, and definitely price according to that image. However their business philosophy and food quality speaks more to rushing through things and moving as many people through their system as possible, even if they forget people along the way. After all, they forget you after you pay, so why should it matter? After the second time my order was forgotten I decided not to return to any Panera location. It is better and healthier than fast food but I think I respect them less than any of the fast food chains. read more

Panera Bread has always been one of my favorite places to go for breakfast and lunch in particular the one on Concord Pike in Delaware. I am not one to complain but I feel compelled to do so. I came home on the evening of August 26th for a visit after being away for sometime and found the store to be in much need of a serious face lift and a good cleaning. We could not find a table that did not need wiping and the floors needed vacuuming. A young lady and a young man were standing behind the counter with nothing to and ignored our presence making it obvious that they preferred that we use the self-service stations behind us. We stood our ground and after several uncomfortable minutes the young lady unpleasantly gave in. I ordered a blueberry bagel and after she rummaged through several bagels, which I questioned to myself, I asked her to slice it. Again the face. After several failed attempts to slice it in a slicer that needed servicing she took a second bagel put it in the slicer and using some kind of tool she tried to force the first bagel through the slicer. It worked and she put the first bagel in a bag to give to me and threw the second bagel in the trash. I don't know what the protocol should have been. I planned on eating at Panera's but decided it was better to take it home. When I got home it was badly burnt so I threw in the trash. I will start going to the Panera Bread in the Fairfax shopping center. read more

First visit since the remodel. Nothing special about the remodel. Smaller portions for soup salad and sandwich very noticeable on the pick 2. I guess this is the way they control costs. Also they have the best iced tea, black tea dispenser was filled with some cloudy brown liquid that did not look like their regular tea and had a weird ginger taste. DO NOT USE THEIR CATERING SERVICES!!! Had ordered lunch for a work meeting for 45 people. Physically went to this location 5 days prior to the meeting to place the order. Our office is literally located across the street. Food was 1 1/2 hours LATE. I called every 10 minutes and was repeatedly told it would be there in a few minutes. I've ordered from this Panera Bread 3-4 times for a couple of last minute lunches for our company - each time they have ever delivered to us, they are either late by 5 minutes - to as long as 25 minutes (when the meeting is practically over), or they forget something. 2 times I've had to have whoever is delivering come back with something I've ordered. I would not recommend if you are looking for catering delivery options for a luncheon. read more
