I love this little sandwich shop. Whenever I'm in Fairhope, I try to hit them up for lunch. Last few visits, however, I've been unsuccessful. The lines get out of control to the point you are not sure where to stand (or if there should be numbers given to control the madness of the crowd standing around) and they start as soon as lunch is on and continue until closing time. I've never seen this at any other sammie shop in town, so I am assuming this has to do with the kitchen being too small for the masses that now come in droves to see the "Guy Fieri" reviewed panini place! All of that aside, I have tried just about every panini on the menu except for the fish ones. They are so delicious. My fave is the mozzie and tomato panini. I just love it. But they are all so very good! I've sat and had their beignets with my mom one morning but was not crazy about 'em. I really wish I could have their panini's again, I miss them - I just can't deal with the long wait that seems crazy unavoidable lately. They are not open for more than a couple hours for lunch each day (11am - 2:30pm) and I've tried to take their sammies "to go" but the taste does doesn't translate as well after being transported. I see they now have a place in Mobile, but was unaware of that my last visit through Mobile (12/26/12). Great sammies and panini's. Very tasty side dishes. Just hope you get in. p.s. Fairhope is unlike any place in Alabama or Florida. Do not be strayed by reviews that try to compare this cute town to theirs (Coconut Grove, FL? no way!). Fairhope is not easy to get to by plane, remember it's a connecting flight for most people (me) and an 18hr drive/two-day trek for others (me). This is a great shop, good food, good ambience. Sad to say I was not impressed with the food. The staff and ambiance were great. Being that we got there when they opened I would have expected freshness. The fries were bland and cold. The "panini" was soggy and fell completely apart. I ordered the Rosemary Chicken Panini. Not one hint of rosemary and the chicken was old. I won't go again. read more

We went to panini Pete's today Mother's Day was told to seat wherever we could find a table. We sat at a table with no umbrella and it started to rain so we got up to find another table with an umbrella and we were told they weren't serving there because of the rain so no table available so when we find a table under a roof we were told other people were there before us. Which we didn't see. So we got up and left. Your people need to learn how to seat your guest. We will not re turn ever and will be sure to tell all our friends about our terrible experience. Ate at Panini Pete's today with my granddaughter and was very disappointed in the Turkey panini. The bread it was on was hard as a rock! I could hardly bite into the sandwich. This restaurant has good food, but what really is a draw is the ambiance. The restaurant is located in the "French Quarter" by a little patio area and fountain, with a glass greenhouse with extra seating. We went hearing about them on Food Network. Sadly we were not very impressed. Their turkey panini (one of the suggested ones from the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives) was one I could get at a coffee shop in LA California (my home). Nothing really special. They also had a 'special' Cajun burger with jalepenos. Again, didn't find it very good. Being from California I couldn't even taste the jalepenos they weren't hot. Overall the style was cool. They had a really neat iron atrium/type thing you eat in. To be honest that was the best part of the experience. Bummed by this being on food network, perhaps they let go after that and didn't continue to create new culinary dishes. Also they 'sold out' and put a TV in the iron atrium that only ran advertisements for the towns businesses. Bit tacky for me. read more

I ate at Panini Pete's on July 15 when I was in Fairhope for a conference. I got the German Shepherd hotdog with sauerkraut and the homemade potato chips. My meal was good, although the waitress was a little slow with Coke refills on a hot day. One of my companions had the turkey panini featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives and said it was excellent. Another got the muffaletta panini and liked it. It really did look great. Our other companion had the chilled cantaloupe soup and said it was good, but a little goes a long way. I live in Mobile and have always wanted to eat there. I finally had an opportunity and I have to say that I have never been so disappointed. I had the House roasted and medium rare roast beef panini. The panini devoid of flavor. Absolutely the blandest roast beef I have ever tasted. Please invest in some salt! And as if that wasn't bad enough, the bread was so tough it was almost impossible to eat. The only positive thing I can say is that the staff was very polite. read more

Our friends recommended Panini Pete's to us and are we glad they did! We are originally from New Orleans and we were told they have great Beignets like those at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter. I have to say...those were the BEST tasting Beignets we've ever eaten! They were so much better than the ones we grew up enjoying. I really didn't think we would ever find anyone that could beat Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. They even had Cafe Au Lait coffee to go with the Beignets. Panini Pete's is one of my favorite restaurants. I'm totally obsessed with their fries! I could eat them all day long! The location is great too. It's a little courtyard with a cute fountain, and small shops around it. While you wait for your delicious food you can shop at the few local shops that are close by in the courtyard. Also there is a little chocolate shop to get dessert at. Panini Pete's is cute, fun, yummy, and family friendly. The staff is kind, and sweet. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Wow, can't miss this place! Great atmosphere tucked back in a little alley under some live oak trees. Food was delicious and so cheap. When was the last time you got a breakfast wrap for $5?
