    Driest tacos ever
    Nicole F.

I know its hard to find good Mexican tacos here in hawaii. We do have our pockets but man it is hard! Driving in Waimanalo we see this taco truck and it looks super legit, however when we got our tacos, it looks like a dry mess. The tacos were single Ply- meaning not the traditional 2 layers. The meat was SOOOOO DRY, and WOW the limes were dry AF. NO juice whatsoever from them. We got 2 barbacoa and 2 (not even sure what the other one was)- but it was the worst tacos ever- also did I mention that they are 3.50$ each??? meaning 4 tacos and a drink cost us close to $18.- see pics and video GOOD: great selection of all the spanish drinks and flavors My husband did say the sauce was very good and spicy, but honestly it needed the sauce bc the meat was sooo dry. TOO OVERPRICED for QUALITY. and believe me ill pay for a great taco Wouldn't recommenced sadly

Overpriced. Period. I ordered 3 tacos, 2 carnitas and 1 chicken and it came out to be $10. It was $3.50 a taco. These tacos were tiny. It was no way near worth $3.50 for 1, I'd pay .50 or at most $1 for one of their tacos. The 1 star is for the taste. The taste was there, the carnita meat was tender as well. I will definitely not be coming here again due to the prices and quantities.

Authentic Mexican food is hard to find with traditional flavors and genuine spices TJ Mexico brings a family heart and richly flavored authentic food. Pluses: + Flavor + Fresh quality + Customer service + Selection + Authentic Mexican breads for Tortas + Locally family owned and operated Minuses- - Parking gets crowded Bottom line: Our favorite Mexican food and Ohana on O'ahu

Love this food truck! It's nice to have authentic Mexican food in Waimanalo. Their foods really good price $12 a plate or $3.50 a Taco.. Their tacos come with rice and beans which is a plus! And the people who run it are super nice. I love their salsa, I always get extra and actually eat it with my other food at home. It packs the heat but everything has such good flavor and is super filling... I highly recommend trying them

I decided to have dinner and drinks with one of my best friends after a photo shoot at Kailua beach park. We had no issue at all with parking which is always a win when you're in the middle of Kailua, My friend and I both ordered the Li Hing mui margarita blended and you know it lasted us the whole time we sat at our table lol. Their margaritas are served in fishbowl glasses and so yummy! I also ordered their Birria tacos with consommé. It was okay. I felt like I tasted more oil and grease and couldn't put my finger on the taste of the consommé sauce. Our waitress was so kind and upbeat. She offered us another round to which we declined and had a smile on her face every time she came around. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area for a drink or a great time

She told me to sit wherever and no menu, no communication whatsoever. About 5 minutes later a girl came and literally tossed a menu on my table then walked away. I sat for a while unattended to and decided to walk out. The menu was very overpriced and as another commenter posted, since when is there a charge for chips and salsa at a true Mexican restaurant??

Personally I think it's usually a waste to burger wagyu...but this was delish. It was juicy without being messy, all burger, seasoned well... everything I want in a burger. With everything else going on, I had half...and grinded the other half for breakfast the next day! We like tri tip...it's one of the more cow-y tasting meats making it tastier. Was a little overdone for me, but the taste was great. Hubs coulda used more salt, but with a squeeze of lime, I thought was perf. We aren't usually cerviche people... but this one cucumbers were still super crisp. YUM. Perfect. Baby ate the Tri Tip, some burger, but loooooved the potatoes. I don't know how they were prepared since I don't cook potatoes often...But was nice and salty on the outside and soft on the inside. Baby also liked the guac...she basically used the chip as her spoon. Salsa was too hot for her, but I thought had a nice and fairly mild kick. I know some of the other salsas kick a little harder. Still one of my fave Mexican places in Hawaii...

We ordered two taco plates (one asada $22 and the other carnitas $20), a side of beans, side of rice, and chips & salsa. It came out to $61.78, I gave a $8 tip, and there is a 3% surcharge to use a credit card = $71.87. I almost feel a bit sick that I paid over $70 for this meal. The tip suggestions are categorized so high (I saw one option being $12+). And there is no service involved other than your food was brought out on a tray. Also, I think businesses should say if you're being charged extra to use your credit card. I also think businesses should not make you pay for that service. But, I digress. Food came out fast. I thought the rice was good, except the peas inside can be a bit dried up, the beans were very thick. My husband enjoyed his asada. My carnitas was so bland, I thought I was eating plain boiled chicken. I brought it back saying I ordered carnitas, and the boy working said twice, "That IS carnitas." I was embarrassed, but that goes to show how bland it was.. I have eaten carnitas a lot! I thought the "service" was subpar. No friendly faces. I spent awhile tipping the water receptacle to get the drops of water remaining. The boy working passed me a few times and did not say anything. I heard him tell the couple next to us, that there was complimentary water, but not much water in the container.. mostly ice. I was thinking.. can you fill it?! My husband ended up asking the cook who refilled it, but talk about lazy! I'm sorry for the rant, it's expensive to live in Hawaii and I think people are eating out less because it's a lot to afford. So it makes it frustrating to spend a lot of money for mediocre food and poor service. We live in the area and want to support businesses, but want to feel like we are appreciated as customers. I think this was our final attempt to give this place a chance. Go to Los Chapparros where you'll be greeted very warmly with yummy food.
