My two stars are for customer service alone. It was my first time visiting Corpus Christi and the family and I wanted to grab some lunch. I'm from Chicago so pizza is always a great choice. The husband saw this place online and said it was 4 stars, so I was on board. The women who greeted us were very friendly and helpful. However, This place does not know what authentic pizza should taste like. I ordered a small with mushrooms and anchovy and I couldn't believe how awful it was. The mushrooms were definitely from a can, the cheese was not best quality and the crust tasted like an unsalted cracker. I had to come on Yelp to check for myself to see was this some sort of one off, since I was told it was four star. Unfortunately, someone rounded up. My experience was not unique. Again, the ladies were very kind and helpful, the place was clean... Now that I think about it, there was only one family inside. Always remember, a restaurant, barbershop or hair salon that's empty on a Saturday afternoon is probably not very good. read more

This is a great family-run restaurant with a great fantastic Ambiance, the place has barely changed in the more than fifty years that it has been opened, and that's really saying something in this modern-day of constant remodels and refreshes and new uniforms. People walk in here and bring their grandkids with them, and it looks almost exactly as it did when they came here themselves as children. The food is great, handmade everyday in house, and if you're so inclined you can have a beer or a glass of wine to enjoy with your pizza. As pizza goes I say Panjos in corpus christi is the best! The price is the result of the product. The toppings are always plentiful and fresh. Of course they are human and maybe once or twice something goes wrong but like i said that is any place that you go to. I'm sorry to report that this experience was less then satisfactory. This post is not joking when is comes to $$ my boyfriend and I ordered a pitcher of beer, one large pizza, and a small order of wings and our total came out to $47 and some change. Plus they charge for any topping you want on the pizza. Next they only offer one sauce for the wings and geez I wish there was a little more flexibility there. Also while we were waiting for the pitcher of beer I saw an employ open two large gigantic size cans of pizza tomato sauce and in my opinion for that price it should at lease be homemade, am I right? Last the atmosphere is laid back, nothing fancy with only two flat screen tvs which I didn't mind. Over all, I think I like the idea of pizza and a pitcher beer more then Panjos. read more

We absolutely loved this pizza. The crust was thinner than hand-tossed but thicker than thin crust and absolutely perfect. We liked the atmosphere and the service was very friendly and helpful. They accommodated for our nut allergies buy making sure those preparing our pizza wore different gloves so that they did not cross contaminate from the pecan pies (which are stored in a different area). Not only have I been going to Panjo's since before I could walk, but my father grew up going there, too. I spend most of my year at school in CT, but whenever I come back to Corpus, I always spend my first Friday at Panjo's. Pizza and beer in New Haven is great, but nothing beats the Panjo's experience. I honestly can say that everytime I order pizza now (I no longer live in Corpus),,,I am always just a little disappointed because there is no pizza out there that taste as good as Panjo's pizza. Growing up, we used to frequent the Panjo's location in Houston. So, when I saw that there was a Panjo's still around when we were vacationing in Corpus this week, we just had to stop in. For starter's the restaurant is actually pretty dumpy. It's small and cramped, packed with long family style tables and benches. I don' think there has been any improvements since the 70's. The bathroom was extremely rickety and patched over time with mismatched materials but fairly clean, relatively speaking. * The employees were hit or miss, there were two very friendly individuals (a blonde at the counter and a guy in the back that tried to greet customers as they came in and left. The others looked like they were just miserable working there (but I really couldn't blame them with the environment and in all fairness we arrived at about 9pm on a Monday night). One of the waitresses kept sitting with (what I am assuming was) her boyfriend at a back table. No one was rude but I wouldn't consider them pleasant. * It was a bit pricey for a hole in the wall restaurant. We ordered a giant (which was actually the size of a conservatively large pizza everywhere else) pepperoni pizza, 20 wings and 4 waters for $40. We waited almost 25 minutes for the wings and another 20 minutes for the pizza. Keep in mind there were only 3 other occupied tables in the restaurant; one of which was already occupied when we arrived, one that ordered right before us and one that ordered after us. I can't imagine visiting at a peak time. If you wanted a refill or more ice in your drink, you had to go to the counter and wait for an employee get it for you. Specialty pizzas will run you around $25 to start. They also had salads and sandwiches that have received favorable reviews on other sites. * The wings were very tasty (mild is actually pretty spicy) but the skin was so soggy and rubbery and the garlic bread that came with it wasn't toasted. * Their saving grace is their pizza. It was really good. The crust was thin and cracker-crisp but not scorched. The cheese stood out and their was a fair amount of pepperoni. (make sure you order only what you can eat if you want to avoid the charge for a take home box). My kids loved the pizza. If I lived in the area, I would definitely place call-in orders for pick up. Overall, I'm glad we tried it. We prefer to support local, family-owned restaurants when we travel, but we probably won't visit Panjo's again on future trips to Corpus Christi. read more
