Snapped a picture before I polished this off entirely. Lao Garlic Noodles - 10/10

I Visited Panoy with friends for an early birthday dinner. I love Thai food and this Laotian restaurant did not disappoint! The Lao Garlic Noodles were flavorful and so delicious, I finished every bite! My dilemma now is the fact that I live out of state and I am going to be craving these noodles regularly. Cute, family run restaurant; go support this small business.

Supposed to be sticky rice. Nothing sticky about it. Just hard, crisp rice.

Really poor unfortunately. Everything was really dry and/or really salty. The driest rice I've ever had which we had to throw away. The beef in the Vientiane beef was almost like jerky, as was the chicken in the fresh rolls. If it was affordable like Laotian food usually is it wouldn't have been as bad, but the beef dish alone was $20. The pad Kee mao (drunken noodles) were ok, but nothing special and basically just noodles, meat and a couple of bits of broccoli.

The photo of this happy customer says it all!

The food was great, service was great! Garlic stir fry beef was phenomenal as was the pineapple curry, lettuce wraps and fresh spring rolls. Loved how kid friendly it was, high chairs and our server brought out a wooden birthday cake toy for our little noodle here and she LOVED it!'

We were coming from out of town with low expectations for a random spot we were told was good. The interior is spacious and has nice seating, with an additional room that felt a bit private where the server was able to rearrange tables for our large party, which made things really comfortable. The menu had a good amount of options. I ordered the Beef Pad See Ew and Papaya Salad. I was able to make it not spicy, and they put the Thai chilies on the side as well, which I really appreciated because my spice tolerance is very low. Both these items were delicious, and I would recommend them the most out of everything we ordered. Also, all our dishes came out in less than 5 minutes, which was impressive. My friends got the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Green Curry, and Crab Rangoons. The crab rangoons were good, and apparently the noodles they used for the Pad Thai looked like Vietnamese pho noodles. It was extremely saucy compared to what we're used to as well. The Yellow Curry was coconut-y, but the Green Curry was not. After our experience here, I think the meal exceeded all our expectations. Would definitely recommend!

I knew when we had the opportunity to go out in the area, that I wanted to check this place out! I'll preface my review with this: I'm used to Bay Area Thai food. I usually order medium, and then add more chile or spice as needed because some places make their mediums pretty warm. The food we ordered medium here had little to no spice, I definitely would call it mild and will probably order hot next time. With that said, the food was all fresh and delicious. They served us in what seemed like minutes after ordering, and our dishes had great presentation. We ordered wine to go with our meal, which was surprisingly affordable. It's not posted in the standard menu, but they do have a separate wine list you may need to ask for if you'd like wine. Overall, the interior had nice ambiance, the staff were friendly and we had a good experience here. I'd say if you're a Thai food lover in Grass Valley, it's worth giving them a try.

This had been a big reason I hadn't stopped in before... parking can be hard downtown but I've learned it's worth a walk even if you have to park a few street over. I was told the green Thai tea ($6) here is delicious so we both eagerly ordered one to enjoy during the meal. They were served in larger carafes and it's so satisfying to stir before taking your first sip. Definitely a great portion for the price. We wanted to explore the menu so we ordered a variety of items to share, knowing we'd be taking home leftovers. We ordered the Green Curry ($17), Lao Pho ($18), Pas See Ew ($17), and pineapple fried rice ($19). It was truly a feast. All the dishes had a generous portion size and our server made sure we had extra bowls and plates to share the pho and other dishes. My personal favorites were the pad see ew and Lao pho, the noodles in the pad see ew were delicious and I always like eating this as fresh as possible so the noodles are steaming hot. The pho broth had great flavor and I loved that this Lao version had tomatoes in it. The meat in the pho was also delicious. The pineapple fried rice is a customer favorite, but didn't blow me away. I tend to like savory and spicy more than sweet and savory, so this could by why. The Green Curry was a bit too thin for my preferences, I like a thick curry. It was tasty though and I'm glad I gave it a try. I would definitely stop in again to try more of the menu, and when we stopped in the Lao sausage was sold out, so I'd definitely order it next time if they have it.
