Would come back again, but a word of warning to gluten-free folks that likely their Alfredo sauce…read moreor something else has gluten in it. My friends ordered gluten free bread and pasta, but they def still had something with gluten in it and it was probably the sauce :( Had the crespelle and it was very good (basically a crepe drenched in sauce). The sauce is creamy but very tangy, almost sour. Would have liked it to be even cheesier inside, but solid dish overall, very soft, good amount of spinach and mushrooms inside, can cut with fork. I wouldn't get it again just because it wasn't a good match for my taste preference (not huge on tangy), but it was good! The saltimbocca alla romana was really good, I would get that one again. Very creamy sauce, the chicken was nice and tender, flavorful and juicy. The polenta was soft but still had a thick almost bready texture, like if you soaked cornbread (but tastes like plain polenta, not like sweet cornbread). If you've never had polenta before, it's sort of a thick grainy oatmeal-like texture. The semifreddo was like if you took tiramisu, added more espresso, and condensed it down into a singular flat slice of cake / bread pudding (soft mushy texture). Delicious sauce, very strong on the whiskey/caramel flavor. Would definitely get that one again. Service was great, and the garlic bread was surprisingly soft and delicious.

What a great place for a very nice meal in the heart of Grass Valley. Friends took us here and we…read morewere very impressed. The restaurant has a well established old world flavor to it. A bit kitschy in the decor but pleasant, spacious and very nice. The service was extraordinarily friendly, attentive and helpful. We felt like family were waiting on us. As we got menus right away there's a good variety of choices. Since the essence of the restaurant is Maltese I was particularly intrigued as I know nothing of that cuisine. We started with a cup of the soup of the day, a Tuscan bean soup, that was delightful. It was full of beans and fresh vegetables in a hearty soup base. Although a few choices in the salads and sandwiches sounded appealing I instead chose the Lamb Maltese pasta. On a bed of farfalle (bowtie) pasta it comes with lamb pieces and a slightly spicy red sauce. All very delicious and I found it to be a very tasty dish. The only downside was the lamb chunks were not the usual, long and oddly sized, plus very chewy. Overall it didn't really diminish the dish. While we all were quite content and full our server brought out an incredible array of amazing looking desserts that would wow anyone. Unfortunately there just wasn't an appetite left for it. However, I will remember that for next time. I will definitely go back to try other things. This is a wonderful place for a pleasant meal.

OK, I really like this place. Not high-end or fancy, but just down home with great food…read more Friends had been telling us to try it as they come and really like it, and I trust their opinions. Since we were in Grass Valley we headed there for lunch. The interior is woodsy and homey, with a country edge. There's a pleasant inside and a really nice outdoor patio area. We opted for indoors as it was a bit cool outside. Seated right away, we got menus, which are EXTENSTIVE, for breakfast and lunch. The omelet section alone is mind boggling. Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. These folks have it down and probably have worked there for awhile. After perusing the menu and getting iced tea, I chose the Long John burger (ordered medium rare) that seemed very tempting and Ed got the Caravan sandwich with Roast Beef. We both ordered a side of the Sweet Potato fries (included!). Expecting a tall juicy burger difficult to get my mouth into it and super messy I was pleasantly surprised to get this very long piece of bread instead. It was much easier to eat and I wasn't slobbering it all over myself. Bravo! The flavor, amount of meat, grilled onions and everything else on the burger was perfectly delicious. Ed's sandwich looked amazing and he really enjoyed it. We both agreed that the grilled onions were absolutely made to perfection and the sweet potato fries some of the best we ever had, especially not soggy or greasy. The kitchen knows what they are doing. They have a very interesting and enticing drink menu and had it been dinner I probably would have tried a couple. I was sold on this place, thanked my friends and want to to go back for dinner!

Ok.....Let's start with if this was a rating of our server Ashleigh it would definitely be 5 stars…read more She was amazing. But I have to rate the food. We had a meatloaf, chicken parmigiana, chicken Marsala and a salmon Marsala. Chicken parm was very bland. Meatloaf was overcooked and chicken Marsala was just ok. The reason I have to give 1 star is that the salmon Marsala gave him food poisoning. 2 hours after eating he spent the next 2+ days on and off the toilet and had excruciating stomach pain. This was our first time for dinner and definitely our last. They do make an amazing omelet though.

Eclectic ,funky, artsy interior with original art pieces and unique furnishings…read more We sat outside with friends who have been coming here for twenty years and let them do the ordering. The heat lamps were on in the enclosed area out front and they have cushions for the wrought iron chains and a shelf of blankets for customers to use. Complimentary Chilean bread rolls brought to the table right away with garlic herb butter, salsa verde sauce (chimicuri like) so good, made the old fashioned way with pork fat. Calamari Frito, Cajun seasoning, light and crunchy with a house made tarter sauce (excellent server brought us an additional tarter) Crab stuffed chili Relleno was a creative version of this meal I've eaten dozens of times, feta and a sweet sauce with the rock crab was delicious. Panqueque especial ,chorizo had a little kick but was cooled off by the pineapple and sweetness of the crepe. All baked together with rice, cheese, guac, veggie's on the side, this was a big meal that was packed with a savory mix of flavors,my favorite thing I sampled. Honey shirachi shrimp, jalapeno, bacon, pineapple,on slaw. Big shrimp, big taste in the sauce, excellent appetizer or can be ordered as a full meal. Fort Rock beer on tap ,live music, fun place and I will be back.
