After seeing photos of the garlic parmesan wings on instagram a few weeks ago I made it a must to come to this establishment. I called my order in and I decided to go with the 10 wings and fries . I did have buffalo and half garlic Parmesan. This place is not to far from the Indiana state fairgrounds. It was easy for me to find it. The parking lot is on the left side of the building and is reserve for papabears. When I first came in I was greeted right away. The man running the place was very nice I told him what I ordered and he had it wrapped up and ready. The wings smelled so good ! He gave me a to go menu and told me to come back . The wings were very delicious . They are little wingettes. So if you like small wings you will love these. The fries were good as well . Some of the buffalo and garlic Parmesan sauce had spilled on them and it tasted pretty good. I didn't even add any ketchup . Check out this place! Ps. Best wings in Indy and Papa Bear is an awesome human. Husband and I love wings and have eaten them all over the city/state, and these are definitely our favorite. We were so excited to move to 46th St because of the proximity to Papa Bears. All sauces and styles are delicious because the actual wings are good quality and his preparation is perfect. Crispy outside and meaty (not fatty). I usually don't like pepper but the honey garlic pepper is so good! Same with the mustard fried. There's a lot to like about this place. The owner is very cool. The food is pretty great. The rib tips (only on weekends) are fantastic and he seems to always run out. The chicken is always perfect, not over breaded and moist and succulent inside. If you like thin burgers with the crispy edges, he's got it. Kinda like what you'd think steak and shake once was way back in a day. Now, why not 5 Stars? I don't know if this place is a passion project but he's never open around meal times. I drive up and down 46th all the time and the dude is almost never open. Forget the posted hours, that's just a suggestion. Chicken is amazing. Always hot and well seasoned. My only tip is DO NOT get the fish. At least not the perch. I tried to switch it up one day and I should've stuck to my old faithful. I took one bite and threw the whole plate away. Also super small portion for the price. read more

Papa Bear never returned after waiting over an hour. Several cars came, waited and left. What a shame to run a business this way. I do not recommend Papa Bear Chicken to anyone.// So after we left and had dinner at Mug n Bun, I called to see if this place was open yet since he was to return in 15 minutes-lol. 31/2 hrs have passed and YES Papa Bear Chicken is open. We drove back, went in and was greeted by Papa Bear. I had purchased discount coupons from Fox59 which clearly state that no more than two may be used at one time. Well, he refused to accept more than one. We just had to go with the flow and use one, and hope and pray we can find him open again. We ended up ordering 10 lemon pepper drummettes, and 10 garlic Parmesan drummettes. I did try each when we got home. The lemon pepper was my favorite. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered them because so many others raved about them in their reviews. The taste of lemon was distinct yet not sour or bitter, but pleasant and delicious. The pepper was there to add to the flavor, but not hot or overpowering. They are yummy! The garlic Parmesan surprised me. I guess I don't know much about wings because they were wet and I thought they would all be dry rub. For my taste they were ok, but I prefer bbq wings or hot wings or all lemon pepper! I will return to use my Fox59 coupon, but after that...no returning for me. I am leaving my rating a one star because when your sign says you open at 5pm, you need to open at 5pm. When people have certificates that say they can use two, they should be allowed to use two. read more

Went in this place because it was conveniently the only place opened at the time. Went in, paid $29 for 10 wings & was supposed to get a large fry. He tells us the food will be ready in 12-15 minutes so we left, & ended up coming back in 30 minutes, but as soon as we walked in he was literally JUST THEN dropping our food. We were one of the first people in there and he ended up serving all the other customers before us. Then he told us about 3 more minutes and we ended up sitting in there for 15 extra until we got our food. Then he asks us did we want the fries in a separate bag and I said no I want them first because I was going to eat them on the way home since I had already been waiting. He ends up handing us the food and the fries were literally at the VERY BOTTOM literally BURIED under the chicken with only about 8-10 fries. (Mind you this was to feed 3 people) He tried to hide the fries at the bottom so we wouldn't see we got ripped off till we got home. This man is a crook. Then had the audacity to charge $.75 for a 2 oz bbq sauce. Fries were flavorless and tasted like pure cardboard. The chicken was extremely crunchy and overcooked, and WAY too chewy. And that's hard to say because I have eaten so many wings throughout this year (shoutout to quarantine). I appreciate the fact that this spot is open past midnight. Ordered the whole wings and the whiting fish meal. The fish was delish. Had a couple bones, but nice flavor and wasn't dry. The whole wings order on the other hand need to be taken off the menu. Crazy salty, extremely small, and dry. Prob some of the worst wings I have ever experienced. They were prob fried in some crazy old grease because they were dam terrible. Fish gets 4 stars. Wings get a negative 2 for overall +2 rating. Would go back to try buffalo wings. But Christ. Take the whole wings off the menu read more

Glad I found this gem relatively close to my house. The wings are fantastic!!! Sometimes it is hard to find to a wing place that will fry the wings at right "crispy level"! We stopped by here on a Friday evening when we were hit with a craving for some wings. It was definitely the right choice to make. This small hole in the wall shop has a charming feel, and seemed to be run singly by the owner. He was extremely kind and personable. The wings were fresh and superb. Unlike other wing joints, these wings were perfectly marinaded and lightly breaded. Each wing portion was an actual whole wing NOT wingettes. The order was prepared fresh and nothing in our order was cold or bland. This was our first time at the restaurant, but we will definitely be coming back. Chicken is crispy, the seasoning is great, I got a decent amount of meat out of the wings, but will probably go larger the next time I go. Can't wait to try the fish and the burgers! Fries are from frozen but he gets them to brown up nicely. He has hot sauce . . . just ask for it. Like another reviewer said . . . this guy puts a lot of love into the food.
