My husband and I visited, for a third time, our favorite breakfast spot this morning after church, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. We ordered the "Meat Lover Breakfast," which according to the menu includes eggs any style, bacon, sausage, and other breakfast meats, with a choice of grits or home fries. Instead, we received scrambled eggs, white toast, one side each, with no bacon, no sausage or additional meats included. When I politely asked about the missing items, the other server gave us only a single order of bacon, however, the response felt defensive rather than helpful. We were told the choice was either bacon or sausage, even though the menu clearly lists multiple meats as part of the breakfast. We decided not to argue, ate what was served, paid the full price, and left. I am a Spanish speaker myself and completely understand that language barriers can happen. There is nothing wrong with learning or improving communication skills while working. However, employees should understand the menu well enough to take orders accurately, and customer concerns should be handled professionally and respectfully instead of with a combative attitude. Customers are paying for a service and should receive what is advertised on the menu. Sadly, after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

Wanted breakfast and pulled up to the front of this establishment at 8:15am. The door was locked even though the hours posted on the door said open at 7:00am. I looked in the window and saw someone in the kitchen and knocked on the door but no response and he didn't even have the courtesy to open the door and let me know if they are opening soon. Trying new breakfast places around town and Michaels was on our list. The parking was easy in the lot. It is a small building but they had indoor and outdoor seating along with a counter. It was busy, but we did get a table for two inside immediately along with a good cup of coffee. I ordered eggs Benedict and grits. I really enjoyed the Benedict as the hollandaise sauce is always the star. Our server was pleasant and I was happy when she automatically asked if i wanted my english muffin toasted well. (I hate when it is soggy :-). The grits were very tasty too. It was a little bit of a drive for us from Pompano, but I will return for the eggs Benedict when we are in the area. The interior was the same, with additional seating outside. My wife had a delicious Crepe, while I had eggs, bacon, toast, grits, and coffee. Everything tasted great Our Server, Charlie, was a great guy and very amiable. He helped us catch up with years gone by, and we appreciated his efforts. I have visited Michael's several times through the years and it only gets better. Located in a small shopping center at the corner of 62nd Street and Federal in Fort Lauderdale, it's in a perfect spot for people who like quick and delicious diner food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quaint and the service is superb. Immediately our server asked where we would like to sit, gave us menus and asked for our drink order. Our drinks came out in an instant. Though the iced tea is unsweetened (being from the south, all tea is sugary sweet), it has a very fresh flavor. My boyfriend ordered the Parisian crepe with a fruit cup and I ordered the tuna on toasted sourdough bread Beware,don't expect this to be a snack. We were so full from a late lunch at 2; we hardly had any dinner. Both entrees were absolutely delicious. Something new since I visited is the fact they serve mimosas, bloody marys and other drinks. A must try place if you live by the area. Space is comfy, not too big so if you go during peak breakfast hours, expect a wait or be okay sitting at the bar. This diner like small cafe is a place I've driven by a million times. It's located facing a busy traffic corner -- on the south west side of 62nd and federal highway. There's parking out front. We had great and accommodating service -- but there was only one other table occupied when we were there for lunch. They have a breakfast and lunch menu plus some "written on the board" specials. Although normally only for the weekends, he said they had some "soup of the day" (tomato bisque) still left, so they could do their half sandwich and soup lunch deal. That's what my husband opted to get -- a half tuna salad sandwich and bisque. The bread was a bit burnt, but there was a lot of lettuce and enough tuna on the sandwich. The bisque was quite thick. Acceptable, but just okay. I'd ordered their shrimp and grits. It came in a huge bowl. The creamy grits were topped with a half dozen shrimp, cheese, and a tomato sauce. It was quite a large portion. I ate the shrimp and took most of the grits home (I had some later with breakfast the next day). It was good, but a bit bland probably because I'd asked for it "mild". I really should have added some hot sauce to pep it up. From reading the other reviews, it sounds like we should have come here for breakfast instead of lunch, but it was still a decent solid experience. My meal choice was better than his choice. I saw this place after doing a quick review for restaurants around the area. I hadn't heard of it before but I'm glad I stopped by. What a great little spot for a breakfast/brunch/lunch. The food was served fast, the portions were on the larger side of things but the prices weren't. It's on the north side of a strip mall with plenty of parking and plenty of good attitude. They really want to make sure you are happy. Take your mom's caring touch, add in Southern hospitality and you got this place. Thought it was a great place for years, but then my ticket never made it to the back and after 45 minutes I said something. The owner who is the cook yells from the back that she didn't get a ticket so it's not her problem. That's it they will never get my business again. While waiting for a friend to finish her doctors visit I needed a place to have breakfast. Michael's Cafe was recommended by the doctors staff as it was across the street. Michael's is a small restaurant that only serves breakfast and lunch. I ordered some bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with some coffee. The sandwich came with chips which I did not eat. The eggs and bacon were cooked just like I like them and the coffee was good. If I find myself driving my friend to this doctor again I know I can get a good breakfast while I wait. read more

I get that Sunday brunch is a busy time -- but, when other tables come after, and get their food before: That really stinks. Over a 1/2 hour to get the food, was excessive though. Everytime I'm across the street at the dentist I see this place. Today I'm across the street but with my wife and she wants to go to breakfast. So today's the day we are going to give it a try. Its small, really clean and not super busy. Other then the table with the large party that wanted a lot of different server, the service was okay. My wife had the avocado Benedict with hash brown potatoes and the hollandaise sauce on the side. The poached eggs were a hare over cooked, but now the avocado, it was perfect. You couldn't get a better avocado. It was beautiful, it was ripe, not a spot on it and the flavor was just perfect. The hash browns were good too. Now me I can't remember what they called it but, it was two eggs, two bacon and two pancakes, and I added some fresh bananas to it. Went here this morning with friends for Sunday breakfast. My friend lives nearby and highly recommended it. Luckily when we entered the door we got the last round table with three chairs. Asked someone at a nearby table for one of theirs to make four. The menu had a nice variety of items to order. I got the French Toast as you had an option to get a half order. It came with powdered sugar and maple syrup. Just the right amount and even a half order was more than enough. To drink I had a cup of hot tea with fresh lemon. It can with a small pot of hot water but the tea bag quickly became dark enough for me. Also was two fresh lemon wedges which was a great compliment to the tea. Everyone in my group ordered something different and seemed happy with what they ordered. Definitely would return as it seemed more for locals and the prices were reasonable. Came here for Saturday brunch. We were able to find a table for 2 right away but as it is a smaller place, you may have to wait for a table if you are a larger party. Our server was very sweet and attentive. I ordered the Two by Two which was 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and two pieces of French toast. There was nothing to write home about either the eggs or bacon. They were fine. The French toast unfortunately had a very weird taste and mushy texture for me. I ate one piece and left the other because I just couldn't get past the taste. The real winner of the day was the mimosas. $4 mimosas or $18 for a pitcher. It was a really nice pour and felt fresh. You really can't find a cheaper mimosa anywhere else. It's a close local spot for me so I may return but unfortunately wouldn't be my first choice as I feel like there are so many amazing brunch spots in Fort Lauderdale that Michael's can be easily overshadowed. read more

The staff is quick and efficient despite the amount of customers & your food comes out hot & fresh! They check in on you numerous times and ask if you need any additional things while you eat, which is great in any establishment. The service was 5 star excellent. Dana is very attentive & friendly! The cafe is small, but there was plenty of space. My mom liked her breakfast and I had a club for lunch and both were great! Breakfast and lunch are served all day long. The fresh squeezed OJ is fantastic. I would like to see them choose better options for take-out! Styrofoam cups and to-go containers are not something restaurants should use because although it's cheap, it's harmful to the environment especially wild life. We found this gem while looking for a breakfast spot and good God, this is the best breakfast I've had since moving up from NY two years ago. My husband had the meat lovers omelette with grits and Toast and I had Eggs, Bacon, Home Fries & Toast. First time ever that I order eggs over medium in FL and they're perfect. I guess that term is not popular here so, they're usually runny. The food was scrumptious. The home fries were absolutely perfect, nice chunks made with red potatoes and seasoned to perfection. Other places serve a greasy potato slop with no taste. We have Absolutely no complaints, the portions were generous, the rye toast was excellent, a perfect touch of butter, not the messy butter slather you may encounter at other locations where you can drink the toast.
