When it arrived we were missing several items from our order but decided to eat because our grandsons were hungry. Food was great! After dinner we called the restaurant and after being on hold for 8 minutes gave up. This isn't the first time this has happened. I'm a big fan of this Papa Gios! Have been for several years. It's located in a shopping plaza that I don't frequent all that often and I don't drive past it often either, so it sometimes falls into the "out of sight, out of mind" category. We've been here more recently though so it's getting to be a regular consideration when we want some quick, casual Italian. We've had some really delicious pastas, their garlic sticks are amazing, they've got delicious appetizers, and of course the pizzas are excellent. They always have assorted Italian cookies and desserts but I'm usually way too full for dessert by the time we are done. The only less than stellar dish I've had their recently was the veal & eggplant parmigiana. While it looked incredible, the eggplant was so tough and leathery I could barely cut through it. I had to ask for a steak knife, but ended up just not eating it. But one bad dish after every other meal being delicious is something I can overlook. I'll stick to the pizzas and pastas and skip any eggplant. Definitely give them a try and enjoy the great service and food. read more

This was plan B after another place didn't have Dine In service, and wow, what a winner. I think we ate here once before many moons ago and may need to add this to the regular rotation. Service was absolutely amazing with drink refills and making sure we had everything we need. She was a superstar for sure. A big #ThankYouThursday2021 for her and the rest of the staff. I opted for the Fried Sampler platter and everything was cooked to perfection. The Cream Cheese Jalapeño Poppers were the best I've ever had, even though I prefer the cheddar ones. This particular pizzeria is located on the side of the shopping plaza with the Publix as the anchor store that is located on East Colonial Drive. With this location being off to the side, you might never notice this place unless you were looking specifically for it. In fact, I first found it years ago when I used to go to the Chinese restaurant that is located next door. The pizza here is okay. Service is okay enough and as far as the ambiance, it has that typical mom-and-pop in a strip shopping plaza type feel to it. As I said, the pizza here is okay. Nothing special and I would never say that it was anything close to going out of your way for, but if you are in the area and craving pizza, this place works okay enough. Papa Gio's is a convenient pizzeria if you live on the further side of east Orlando. If you live in Wedgefield, Bithlo, Chuluota, Christmas or that general area, this is the independent pizza place closest to you. Overall, I can only give it three stars for an unspectacular pizza. read more

Ugh! I decided I'd give East Papa Gios in East Orlando one last chance; FAILED. The margherita pizza was AWFUL. Zero flavor, hardly any cheese, the Roma tomatoes used tasted down right disgusting, and the seasons were slim. What is going on Gios I mean come on??? What happened to grande cheese and "only the best products?" That was it. Never again will I order from Gios. So sad how badly Gios has declined over the last several years. read more

The thing I dislike most about Papa Gios is how good their garlic knots are. I literally cannot stop once I start. They are smothered in ample amounts of garlic and I could just eat them as my meal. Except I can't because the wings. The wings are also delicious, but I guess this is a pizza joint so not to demise their pizza pies. It's all good. We have ordered here about once a week since COVID and I have not been disappointed at all. The only down fall is the order timing can take longer than other pizza places and usually takes at least 90 minutes, but we also live in the middle of nowhere and the food is somehow still hot when it gets to us. read more

I didn't use to like this place but in the last couple of years they've gotten so much better. If you ask for extra cheese, they definitely deliver on that and not many places do. We like the dough and crust here. It's nice and fluffy but also thin like what you'd expect from a NY style pizza. I think it's a bit pricey but every NY pizza shop in the area is about this price nowadays. The ambiance is cute and makes you think of a small pizzeria in NY. *FOOD POISONING* I used to love Papa Gio's, but hadn't been in a long time. Last night, I went and got 2 slices of pizza (1 bianca and 1 cheese). Within 30 minutes of eating it, I was experiencing diarrhea and about 2 hours after, I began vomiting as well. 9 hours later, and I am still experiencing both symptoms, so I am pretty certain I have food poisoning. You can get food poisoning from pizza sitting out too long. I believe that is what happened because they take their slices from pizza that is just sitting in the window for an unknown amount of time. After this awful experience, I will not be returning to Papa Gio's again. read more

Let me start with the positives, the staff is super friendly and pleasant. The inside was clean and the decor was Italian. The food, not so good. This was my third attempt and I tried the Gnocchi, I know, my expectations weren't high to begin with. But wow, nasty overcooked chewy play dough with the grossest meat sauce I've ever had. What a disappointment. I have eaten at Papa Gios for years. We moved away but always make a point to eat here when we are visiting. My favorite dish is chicken franchese. They forgot my salad and made the dish with pene pasta vs spaghetti or linguini. When I asked when they started that he said IDK I think they ran out. It was the most tasteless dish. A mixed review. We got a cheesesteak and a chicken parm sub. Both were around $10 which is a very good price. But we soon found out why. They are kind of small subs. Now the taste was very very good. So perhaps they need to offer a small (this one) and a large for $15 for when you want a gut busting meal. So if you get a sub here, definitely get fries or appetizers to fill you up. read more

My son was phone less and had gotten off the wrong bus stop, he came to this business to ask if he could use their phone to call home...they kindly let him use their phone. We have been frequenting Papa Gios for years, and have never had any complaints. We always place our orders to-go or for delivery. Usually we get the philly steak stromboli (which is so amazing paired with the sauce), the garlic rolls, spaghetti with meat sauce, meatballs, and antipasto salad. And omg, their NY style cheesecake is delicious!! It's literally my favorite cheesecake on this side of town. The food always seems to be on point, and the customer service is never lacking. The last time I came to pick up my order, one of the workers was cheerfully cleaning and sanitizing tables. When we call for delivery, they have our information on file so it doesn't always feel like we are starting over giving our names, phone number, address, etc. Love this little establishment, and so glad it's in my neck of the woods! =) read more

I ordered a calamari, Stromboli and chicken parmigiana. The calamari was horrible. It was soft, chewy and they barely put any at all. I was so disappointed as I was really looking forward to this. Please, do not waist your time and money as it's not worth it. I added a picture of the order the only thing I took out was the marinara sauce for you all to see how much calamari they actually put. Papa Gios is located in the Publix plaza. It's a small sit down restaurant that does takeout and delivery. A couple of friends and I went to Papa Gios on a Sunday night. It was apparent that our waitress was new, not only to Papa Gios but also to the service industry. She wasn't familiar with the menu at all. I highly suggest that they have their new trainees read the menu before serving on customers. All 3 of us placed our orders at the same time. I ordered a pizza with chicken (just $1 to add chicken, so cheap!). My friend ordered the greek salad with chicken. Friend 3 ordered a pasta dish as well as a dish to go. The geek salad came out within 15 mins; however there was no chicken. My pizza came out another 10 mins later. Friend 3s food didn't come out for another 15 mins. She ended up having taking her food to go because the other two of us were already finished with our meals. It was a shame that we couldn't enjoy our meals together. Blink and you miss it. Saw it riding shotgun so we looked it up and placed an order. The gnocchi is phenomenal and the Bianca pizza is the stuff of legend!!!! Amazing pie! My wife loves their grilled chicken sandwich but they keep pulling the cheese with a no onion order. Overall a diamond in the rough and a new go to spot for us. All the bad reviews you see about this place, you should actually believe it. I ordered a calzone with peppers and sausage and to start the calzone was burnt on top and DRY to the point I NEEDED the marinara sauce for it. No frills just good food. I had a cheese pizza with SLICED Italian sausage. The sausage was good quality and the pizza was solid. If a pizza isn't good as a cheese pizza then it's not good with stuff piled on. I'm a simple guy with simple tastes and Papa Gios is my kind of place. Had to wait 2.5 hrs for delivery which I shad no problem with being it was Saturday night. Ordered some Pasta Fagioli Soup Watered down & no meat! Just macaroni, a few beans, celery, onion & maybe a sliver or two of carrots. I called & spoke with the manager Ryan & said he would credit me for my next order. I come here often since I live around the area. I normally order a slice of pizza. Today I decided to order the stuffed shrimps with garlic sticks. After waiting 5 minutes they tell me they are out of stuffed shrimp. They did recommend other shrimp on the menu like fried shrimp and the shrimp cocktail .
