Taking a hiatus indefinitely from Papa's Dumpling after another recent attempt keep this place the go-to Kor-Chinese. Greasy, Greasy, Greasy! All of their fried items are way too damn greasy, they don't put enough time to shake the excess oil off and your food are drenched in oil leaking out its containers and the plastic bags. Entrees and noodles (especially dry j.j.m.) are soaked and will keep extracting its grease even after multiple airfry sessions once taken home. Definitely a textbook definition for "greasy food". Hope the business take this opinion in - I understand they can be extremely busy at times with walk-ins and call-ins, but that extra touch of finesse can be well executed with their quality of craftsmanship. read more

Stopped by Papa's Dumpling and ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and it totally hit the spot. The broth was rich and flavorful, the beef was super tender, and the portion size was huge definitely great value for the price. The setup is fast-casual with counter service, but the dining area is clean and comfortable, so it's an easy spot for a quick, satisfying meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and you can tell it's a family-run operation that really cares about the food and the guests. Service was very friendly. This was a self service type of restaurant. We got the seafood jam pong, Taiwanese pork chop rice and the pan fried dumplings. The seafood jampong was sooo good! The soup was spicy and had a good charred taste to it. The seafood was also super fresh and good. It was packed with noodles and seafood. The Taiwanese pork chop rice was great! They also put braised pork and egg on top of the rice that made it even more savory. The braised pork was so tender. The pork chop was crispy and fried to perfection. Excellent food, huge serving sizes. We ordered two dishes (sesame chicken, stir fried rice noodles with chicken) and fried pork dumplings. The two of us could only finish off about 1/3rd of each dish. We will easily be making 6 meals out of the $50 we spent. The people working the register were friendly and helpful. Okayyy this place has been on my list for a minute. I recently visited Papa's Dumplings (weird name), and overall, it was a memorable experience. The atmosphere felt a bit cramped, especially since our table was right by the door, which let in a chill every time someone walked in. When enough people queued up, they were basically standing right next to us. Awkward. Once we settled in, the food made up for it. I ordered the chicken dumplings, which were really good. Unfortunately, they ran out of the pork dumplings by 6:30 PM (guess it must be super popular), so I didn't get to try those. I also had the gan jajang, and I have to say it was the best I've had in this area and right up there with Taste of China. The counter service was efficient but not particularly friendly. However, the owner took the time to walk around and check on everyone, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. You gotta get your own food from the counter and bus your own table. Not really a problem, but you have to navigate your trays down a pretty packed corridor to the very back so don't let anyone with butter fingers do this part. Plenty of parking so no worries there. It gets packed after 7 so consider yourself warned. Despite some minor drawbacks, I would highly recommend Papa's Dumplings and plan to return often. If you're in the mood for delicious dumplings and delicious authentic and fusion Taiwanese, Korean, and Chinese dishes, this place is worth a visit. read more

I almost hesitate to share this place because I don't want it to get too popular but it truly deserves the spotlight. Owenr and his team are incredibly kind, and they work hard to share authentic Korean-Chinese flavors with the community. They deserve every bit of success. Papas Dumpling is a true hidden gem in Johns Creek. I hope the landlord supports them for many years to come, especially since so many small businesses in the same plaza have closed. As the name suggests, their dumplings are a must-try. But the real showstopper is the "pork tangsuyuk" it's unbelievably tender and melts in your mouth. This is a whole different flavor level compared to other Korean-Chinese spots in Duluth, Suwanee, or Buford. I'll probably be back this Saturday... and next Saturday... and the one after that. read more

Tasty Korean style Chinese food at a fair price. Noodles start at $10, portions were good and they gave my friend a large portion of pork chops. I got the jajangmyeon, it was black, savory sweet, with large chunks of onion and pork. Definitely more Korean then Chinese style 炸酱面. The pork chops were thin and crispy, they use the taiwanese popcorn chicken seasoning which was a nice touch. The dumplings were Chinese style potstickers and nothing to write home about. I saw this place while visiting Johnny's pizza next door and knew I had to come check it out. It was easy for me to call ahead and place an order. There were plenty of parking in the shopping center and it was easy to locate. It's bright inside and some seating available. The menu is displayed above the counter and plenty of options to choose from. I was greeted right away and my order was packed and ready to go. The boiled fish dumplings were so fresh. You can tell the skin is home made and cooked perfectly to encircle the dish filling. They even poked holes in the container so it wasn't soggy when we ate it. The Jaengban Jajang was delicious as well. It had squid, shrimp and packed with vegetables. The flavor was good and large portion. I will come back and try their other items. As you enter the restaurant, you have to place the order at the counter. It's a small restaurant with some tables, mostly take outs. I decided to try this place after seeing a review on social media that their jajang muyn was really good. I ordered the jajangmuyn and Yuni jajang, they were both dry, very salty, noodles were soggy and felt greasy. I think the jajang ramen you buy at the grocery tastes better. Mapo tofu was ok, nothing great but didn't like the after taste, felt too greasy. Their hot braised chicken was extremely soggy, like their fried chicken fell in a bucket of water before it was stir fried with the sauce. Something about the sauce felt sandy like I chew on something that wasn't food. Maybe I ordered the wrong items that are not as popular, because I kept seeing people doing take outs. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Johns Creek. They are Korean owned but they make Chinese dumplings like back home. Their food is a mix of Korean and Taiwanese/Chinese, with a lot of noodle, vegetable, and soup dishes. As others have said it's a small spot, but they really know how to make good food. They offer a mix of dumplings boiled, steamed, and pot stickers. For boiled you can get pork and fish (a rarity here in Atlanta). The staff here are all very friendly and not the traditional service that ignores you when you place an order. They can speak English, Korean, and Chinese here so you can bring your relatives and not have to translate. Get the dumplings! You won't be disappointed. read more

I went here for lunch during weekday. It was hella crowd. The restaurant is compact and self-service. You order at the front, pick up the food when your "thingy" goes ding-ding, get your utensils (napkins at the table) and sauce, sit your bottom down, and when done, bring the tray to the back (follow the sign). I wanted to try the Lo-Mei but ordered the chili shrimp under pressure of watching eyes (it was my first time :)) The steamed pork dumpling ($13) was good (but it was so hard to pick up and dip in the sauce). The chili shrimp ($27) is humongous (about the size of my three fingers) coated in sweet non-spicy sauce. If you love spice, add that chili oil in there-let's it burn! Thought it was expensive but after seeing it, foods were worth it. The cashiers/managers (on the receipt, it said boss) were friendly and helpful. I paid in total $47 for one person meal. Gawd. Fresh and authentic !!! Coming from Cupertino where we have had some amazing Chinese food- this was a delight to find. When I went my buddy from Shanghai took me and I was glad to see black bean noodles and I. House dumpling vinegar. They had only been open an hour and 24 minutes before they sold out of their steamed and fried dumplings. We ended up getting the pork boiled dumplings, which were still good, but if dumplings is what you want get there when they open! I ordered the chicken dumplings, general tso chicken, and shrimp lo mein. The general tso chicken was a 11/10 best tasting I've ever had and big chunks of chicken. Decided to stop by for dinner one Sunday evening in July 2024 and was surprised to see a full house. The person at the counter spoke Korean and Chinese. He was overwhelmed but still polite. We ordered mapo tofu, chili dumpling, wonton noodle soup & jjajang myun. Our order came slowly one after another, which is understandable due to the business at the time. Taste wise, we like everything we tasted. The chili dumpling sauce is so unique due to the additional sesame paste. Mapo tofu is fragrant due to addition of shiitake mushroom. Amazing dumpling place, I've eaten so many dumplings my whole life homemade and in restaurants and I love that you can tell the wrappers are made in house with my favorite being the fish dumplings because of the tenderness of the fish inside and the uniqueness of having them available. Garlic house dipping sauce also available. The pork and pot stickers are good as well. The jajangmyeon can come in different options depending on if you like it korean style with more onions, or Chinese style with less onions and more pork, or without cornstarch. Noodles are wonderful qq texture all around, and the beef noodle soup has great tendony pieces and super flavorful broth which is my preference. Other notable dishes include ganpong sweet chicken and mapo tofu. Utensils are available on the side with it being a smaller location with mostly booth seating available. Food comes out as it's hot with a beeper and very quick service. Water is fill up yourself and put away trays yourself. Overall I WILL be back for dumpling goodness!! read more

I heard this is the same restaurant which as Mama's kitchen inside Johns Creek H-Mart, years ago. I loved their food. I went to Papa's once during Fall 2025. I think it was more salty than usual. Someone in my family was disappointed with that and did not want to return. She said the cook must have changed. I am willing to return, however, because I loved Mama's kitchen. Johns Creek really needs a homemade dumpling and noodle place. I don't eat a lot, so the $16 seafood noodle feels like too much, but the $11 Yuni Jajang (pork noodle) isn't filling enough. A simple "$3 extra noodle" option would be perfect. read more

We ordered Togo and ordered online through their website. Even though we went to pickup, the service was awesome . It felt very personable when the owner called me by my name to ask me a question about how the ordering process looked like from my end( the customer) idk I really liked that. The owners were super sweet too. Anyways! So We ordered tangsooyook, jjajangmyun, and the seafood jjambbong. I wish we took pics of everything but we were so hungry. The tangsooyook was really good. The sauce had a smoky taste which we liked. There were mandarin oranges in the sauce too which was delish and I've never seen any TSY sauces w oranges in it. The Seafood jjambbong yall! They were very generous with the seafood that they added. The broth was smooth and very flavorful. The spice level was perfect for me. So good. I love eating here. I always get the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and it's soooo good. The flavor in the broth are complex and delicious, and the beef is so tender and melts in your mouth. Dumplings are extremely tasty and a great addition to the meal itself. The seafood soup is to die for, it comes with SO many seafoods and plenty of soup for you to slurp down, and comes in both spicy and non spicy version. Service takes a while, but the people working the counter are so nice and polite, and get to you quickly and are quick to recommend what they like. So good!! After having recently moved to Suwanee, I am so relieved to find this place only 10 min from home. It will be our go-to place from now on when we're craving Taiwanese food. Loved everything we ordered today and can't wait to try rest of menu. Speaking of the menu, I really liked that the menu is on the smaller side in terms of selection. Plenty of bangers in there, but not too overwhelming to choose from. Also.... If they do start selling frozen dumplings like another reviewer mentioned, I will absolutely be buying some regularly to stock our freezer. The spicy wontons were delicious, loved the touch of sesame paste. Mapo tofu really hit the spot--perfectly mild/medium spicy and without too much mala. Lu rou fan was lovely and I enjoyed the sauteed cabbage that came with it. Pan fried pork dumplings were perfect texture and so juicy. Next time, we will be getting both the beef noodle soup and seafood noodle soup. We already know we'll love those though based on what we've had at Mama's Kitchen.
