Been a Regular Customer for as long as I can remember. Food has always been good; servers all seem to be average or above. We had a party of 8 and waiting for a table. Gentleman told us it would be 15 minutes. We waited around 20 minutes, so I went in to check thinking they may have forgot us because people were going in. I ask the young lady at the desk about our table. She said table of 8 and I said yes, she said they were working on it for me to close the door and wait outside. She has no idea. When I closed that door, it was for good. We will never darken those doors again. There is to many places to eat to be talked to like an animal. There was no need to be rude. We tried this place last week because it seemed to have the best ratings for Mexican in the area. I am originally from California and lived in Arizona before moving here and we've had a hard time finding good authentic Mexican food. This place seems to be popular and a favorite and while it did not necessarily scream authentic to me it was better than most places we've been to here so far. It was a bit strange that they did not serve us salsa with our chips and instead we had to go to a salsa bar to get salsa, the selection was nice but the tiny cups they give you for salsa are not great as we had to go get more several times. They have a sign asking people to sanitize their hands before getting the salsas and put a hand sanitizer station next to it. Not one time did I see anyone use it. I got the chicken enchiladas and the meat was good but I am used to and like shredded chicken in my Mexican dishes and this was sliced. Rice was bland but the salsa helped liven it up. Ranchera sauce was not what I'm used to but was ok. We will come back as it's close to us and want to try some other dishes and see how they are. I will say that the Diet Coke was really good here, and the service was great. read more

Papas is close to home and quick to serve. Even when they are super busy we always get just what we want. I am not a picky eater but I am in a family where they are, they are very accommodating and I have NEVER had a mistake from ANY server there! We order over the phone and can pick up in 20 minutes. Each order comes with chips and wonderful bean dip. I'm a fan of quesadillas and hubs likes his enchiladas. After our show at Flat Rock Playhouse, my friend and I decided to go to Papa's and beer for some nice Mexican food. I ordered the spinach enchiladas which came with rice and a bean mixture soup dish. It was extremely delicious and the enchiladas were filled with beautiful baby spinach. I enjoyed as much as I could eat as the serving was very plentiful. Our service person was extremely attentive and very kind. My friend got the chicken burrito platter with rice and he stated that it was prepared perfectly. The food at this Papas & Beer is pretty good; however, after the 2nd time in a month of visiting the restaurant and being charged over the reflected menu prices I decided to point out the discrepancy. The server refunded the over charge in cash to make up for the discrepancy as the manager was not available to discuss the issue. The server also indicated that new menus were coming to reflect the new prices on the menu but, in my opinion, it is unethical to charge beyond the reflected prices. I still like this restaurant but felt it necessary to warn others regarding their over-charging practices. read more

I have tried so many times. It's hit and miss. The last time miss. Tried the birria tacos and Cadillac Margarita. The meat was ok, tacos were limp, au jus tasted more like watered down salsa 1.5/5. One dollar more than Mariscos El Paso mix some of the tastiest local birrias in town. The warm steak taco salad was better at 3.5 out of five.. pretty good flavor I like the pumpkin seeds and dressing and it's loaded with vegetables that are cut right The salsas tonight were absolutely awful , bean dip bland and too spicy... the house salsa tasted like a cup of water had spilled on it and deleted it to the point of flavorlessness. I've had fajitas here in the past that were pretty edible. Drinkable margaritas reasonably priced.3/5 Service is fine . I usually speak Spanish with them and they're friendly enough. Probably been here two dozen times, definitely used to be better. Are you still like the enchiladas poblanos, taco salads, ands fajitas sans shells when I'm low carb. The two stars for me is that it's about a 50-50 chance that I'm going to feel off after eating here . I feel the sanitary conditions are not the best. I love this restaurant. Let me start with that. I love the food...but... Last time I went in, I ordered a meal that was 9.50 on the menu. Delicious. I loved it. When I got the bill, my meal was 12.99. Big surprise. I asked about it, and the waitress pointed at a disclaimer on the menu that said that prices could be raised at any time. That's OK...but some warning should have been given. No apology...just...that's the way it is. I won't be back after eating at and enjoying this restaurant for years. What a shame. Noisy environment. Back kitchen was playing different heavy bass music compared to the dinning area which played a more relaxed music. The contradiction and sounds was making my head hurt. I asked my server politely to request that the back kitchen turned down their base and she understood exactly what I was saying because she finished my sentence of how my head was being jumbled. I then continue to eat my meal with no change. I then finished my meal and asked for a manager and there still was no change.
