Hendersonville is our new home base for travels to visit the daughter and grandson, who live nearby. We prefer Best Western when we are staying overnight and a Mexican Restaurant attached is a huge bonus for me! The fiancé, not so much. My picky eater jokingly says Bojangles is his favorite Mexican food, but really he is not joking. No Mexican food for him, but he certainly allows me to be the foodie I am. On our one night stay, he got microwave bagel bites (his preference) and I ordered takeout from here. Step into the hotel lobby and proceed left into the restaurant for pick up. Had a nice little crowd, and employees eager to assist. I ordered the Two Amigos, one beef burrito topped with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream, plus one chicken chimichanga, served with rice and beans, $14.99. My food was all bagged up and ready to go when I arrived. Got back to the room and they did not include utensils, so I proceeded back to the restaurant to get utensils. They were very apologetic. The food was good, nothing amazing, just good basic Mexican food I expected. We will definitely be back to the Best Western and I will definitely be exploring more of the menu at El Paso. read more

The chips, salsa, and bean dip were nothing special, but I ordered the Border Fajitas and they were, without a doubt, the best fajitas I've had in a while. Maybe that's not saying much, but still, I loved them. The ambiance was that of your typical Mexican restaurant. The service was good, I was greeted politely, treated nicely and served quickly. Lastly, the building seemed mostly clean, it was a little dark, and maybe that's part of their strategy, but no complaints there. The cashier wasn't the friendliest but I can deal with that when the food was so good. Ok so first you go up to the counter, find a menu then order there. They have some very popular Mexican dishes. Also jarritos, cervesa and Agua frescas. No they don't give you free chips and salsa. But they do have a salsa bar with salsa and some other accoutrements on it. One I didn't even know what it was but that's okay. No labels on anything which you could either be confused by it or just look at it as an adventure. I ordered the chorizo sopas with a tamarind jarritos. The chorizo was delicious, perfect amount of seasonings with just a touch of clove. The portions were generous but I left feeling just satisfied. He got some tacos and a quesadilla. The Barbacoa and carnitas were super flavorful and moist. They did give give the steak on a taco instead of chorizo so he was a little sad about that. When we arrived wasn't sure we were at the right place because the restaurant is inside the hotel but when you walk in, the restaurant is just to the left. The food was superb. I ordered the super chicken chimichanga. I was glad I did because it was so delicious. The chips before our meal were really good and I loved the bean dip that came with it. Off the chain good. Like. I am used to. The Gashouse where I am from just don't get it done no more. Inside of a hotel and a little crowded for a party of 7 but a clean and nice little place. Everyone working was extremely polite and friendly, and patient as we have 5 kids. The bathrooms are part of the hotel and they have one fort he women and the men have to use the family room. The food was excellent and hot and reasonably priced. Employees excellent, respectful and responsive. Highly recommend to anyone. read more

Your first and only issue is to turn into The hotel that houses this restaurant . Surprise! Enter and It opens up and you feel like you are going to have a great meal . The bean dip is really good . Salsa also good . We had chicken chimichanga on special but the real find was the grilled shrimp dish (that looks like an antennae on the menu) with very tender pork chop and chicken/steak slices as the base. We live in Indiana, but every time we are down here we make a point to eat at this amazing Mexican restaurant. And meet up with some good friends who are actually from the area and love the restaurant as well. First, the salsa bar was amazing. A large selection of salsas and the like, little cups at no extra charge. I think we sampled more than half. And an endless supply of chips. Quite dangerous, but delisciously so. My husband ordered the the Two Amigos: a beef burrito and chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. He says they were excellent. I ordered three soft tacos with steak, Mexican sausage, cilantro and lime. Amazing. Service was exceptional, despite the business. We always had chips, drinks, napkins .... we lacked for nothing. Worst service I've ever had in my life. Food was good. I literally waited on my check for over 30 minutes. My waitress passed by me at least 10 times. I finally had to ask the manager for my check. Decent food, the kids meals are not priced inline with other Mexican Restaurants in the area. My boy liked his while my daughter was certainly not pleased. The quesadilla was good except the hard gristle that could not be chewed nor ingested could have easily been removed when preparing and cooking the meal. Seasoning was good. Service is sub par for the area. Lots of standing around and talking with other staff. Staff did not appear to be happy with job or responsibilities. I was excited to get something other than burgers, sandwiches or pizza on a recent visit. So Mexican sounded great and since I was with my mom who only likes quesadillas and fajitas, we landed here. My mom seemed to like her food (quesadilla), I wasn't as impressed. I got a fajita that came with steak, grilled onions and zucchini. The veggies were fabulous...had a great grilled flavor. The steak, while probably more authentic than the tex mex I'm used it, was thin and really tough. It came with just 2 tortillas which was no where near enough to eat the food it came with. While I was satisfied, and LOVED the refried bean dip that came with the chips (along with salsa), I probably would try someplace else Or at least no order fajitas if I go back. Stopped in for our last meal before hitting the road back to NJ. Highly recommended by a local farm stand girl. Restaurant is in the Best Western, not the little one across the street. Ordered a burrito and fish tacos. Burrito was small with no filling slapped with lettuce and tomato and wet sauce on top. The fish tacos were a joke. Horrible good and a complete let down. This was very confusing-we thought we ordered take out from this restaurant but I think we ordered from the El Paso grill located inside the Best Western Motel. They are owned by the same people but have different menus. The restaurants are across the street from each other. I ordered the beef fajitas. That was one tough steer that El Paso used for the beef. Very mediocre rice. Burned onions and green peppers were barely cooked. I would not recommend based on this dinner. read more

Stopped by on my way back to Charlotte from Looking Glass Rock. El Paso is located in the same building as a Best Western, overlooking the pool. It features typical Mexican decor and a salsa bar. I ordered Pollo al Carbon - which came with a grilled cactus, rice and tortillas. I wish the chips were a bit better - but the salsa bar was a nice option. We are locals and this location is literally next door to my office and 9 minutes from my house. My family stops in about every three months (even after finding a piece of a grill brush in my quesadilla) in hopes that El Paso has improved, but no such luck. Today was our final time trying. My daughter and I both ordered the bacon el paso quesadilla with extra cheese and no tomatoes. The server spoke perfect English so I know he understood. The plates arrive with grease soaked tortillas and inside of them there was NO cheese and EXTRA tomatoes..... not even joking. I sent mine back but my daughter decided to pick hers apart. Mine returned with even more grease and some cheese this time with the bonus of cold rice since they sent it back on the same plate. I didn't even bother to eat it at this point. Server nor manager ever asked if everything had been fixed. To top it off, it's Mother's Day. Never. Again. *Sugarloaf Road location. I absolutely love this place. Every time we go the workers are very nice and polite. They are a family friendly restaurant. Even when they are fully packed you get your food with in 15-20 mins after ordering food. They never let your drinks run out, and the chips and dip are endless!
